Runway Report: Rebecca Minkoff Spring/Summer 2016 RTW
For Spring/Summer 2016 Rebecca Minkoff looked to 60s music/film icon Marianne Faithful as a muse. What ended up coming out on the runway as a collection that played with soft and hard. We had soft chiffon, suede, and silks paired against leather. This is what I want to see in a Spring/Summer collection. These are the the breezy looks that women want when it comes to shopping for spring. I can see Miranda Kerr, Reese Witherspoon, & Vanessa Hudgens rocking the hell out of this collection on the sidewalk runway. My favorite pieces from this collection were the high heeled gladiator pumps with a lucite heel. They were sexy and perfect for running around the city looking absolutely fabulous.

Runway Report: Wes Gordon Spring/Summer 2016 RTW
The grunge movement of the 90s has been creeping back into fashion and designers have been showing some very literal interpretations of it, whether or not their client is one that would wear grunge. Yesterday Wes Gordon showed his Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection and he showed how a designer can interpret a trend and make it perfect for their clientele. The Wes Gordon woman is a refined chic downtown woman, so grunge is already kind of in her DNA, but she is still elegant. That is what Wes did with his Spring collection. I know it might sound ironic to hear grunge and chic in the same sentence, but that is exactly what Wes did. My favorite look in the collection was a berry, black, & white chiffon and lace gingham skater dress. The dress really meshed grunge and chic so well. I continue to enjoy what Wes Gordon sends down his runway season after season.

Runway Report: Yigal Azrouël Spring/Summer 2016 RTW
I fell instantly in love with the Yigal Azrouël Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection. The show was staged so simply but the downtown edge meets antique Victorian details really made me smile. It is a hard task to make Victorian styles not look like a costume and Yigal excelled at that task. The gowns at the finale with the lace halter collars had to be amongst my favorite looks in the collection but there really were so many pieces that I loved. This is a collection that I can not wait to see stars like Selena Gomez and Miranda Kerr working on the red carpet and on the sidewalk runway.

Runway Report: Jason Wu Spring/Summer 2016 RTW
Jason Wu has spent so much of his focus in recent past collection on sportswear that I have been in a drought of the glamour and drama that the house was founded on. I was incredibly pleased with the fact that for Spring/Summer 2016 Jason Wu was able to mix his elevated versions of sportswear with glam drama that I love. He did so thanks to a lot of ruffles. There were ruffles on almost every look in short or large and dramatic. I think that the most dramatic look came from a green snakeskin leather cocktail dress that was made soft and glam with large ruffles on the shoulder. I was also really impressed with the bold bags that Jason continues to create. I think that they will in time become the "it" bags. I hope that Jason continues to remember his roots as he continues to grow his line.

Runway Report: Cushnie et Ochs Spring/Summer 2016 RTW
The 90's were on the minds of Carly Cushnie & Michelle Ochs when they were creating their Spring/Summer 2016 collection for Cushnie et Ochs. What ended up coming down the runway was a glamorous homage to the hip hop era of fashion. We say swimsuits under low rise hip hugging pants, lots of leather, denim, and sexy splits. I will say that for a collection inspired by hip hop this collection reads more elegant than you typical street wear. Carly & Michelle keep knocking it out of the ballpark with each passing collection getting better than the last. What will come next?
Runway Report: Zimmermann Spring/Summer 2016
Bohemian Victoriana. That is what was on the menu for the Zimmermann Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection. I am quite pleased with the fact that Zimmermann was able to give us high necked Victorian inspired looks that looked elegant for spring and not heavy. I have been terribly saddened by how heavy the Spring/Summer 2016 collections have been turning out. Zimmermann has been growing its fan base and I am sure that we will be seeing a host of young Hollywood wearing this collection on the red carpet. I have so many favorite looks from this collection but I think my favorite piece in the collection is the buckled floral print skirt. This mixes a pattern that most would associate with grandmas couch and makes it sexy and wearable to someone from the millennial generation. I continue to enjoy seeing Zimmermann grow and I already can't wait for their next collection.
