Runway Report: Delpozo Fall 2016 RTW

For Fall 2016 Delpozo visionary Josep Font forges opposite forces of darkness and light, logic and passion, and the head and the heart. Font has been crafting amazing architectural looks since we first heard his name on the runways and this collection was no different. Font brought together the grandness of the Victorian era with the volume of the 1950s and packaged it all up in a modern take on these iconic fashion eras. There were so many exceptional looks in this collection but the piece I was immediately drawn to was a cocktail dress with an electric blue strapless bodice and a full black skirt with copper embroidery. This look is distinctly reminiscent of the 1950s and I can picture Reese Witherspoon taking this look and making it a major red carpet moment. Olivia Munn, Kiernan Shipka, Keira Knightley, Cate Blanchett, and Sarah Jessica Parker all immediately come to mind as people that could really make this collection come alive on the red carpet.

Runway Report: Vera Wang Fall 2016 RTW

My interest in Vera Wang's runway shows vary from season to season and I am actually surprised that I liked two collections in a row. Vera has never had back to back red carpet collection that I am interested in and she finally did. Her fall 2016 RTW collection had a mix of vibes. It started with strong military and menswear structured vibes and ended with the more signature sequin slip gowns that closed the show. I love how despite these ideas being contradictions that they seemed to ebb and flow with each other quite well. I am intrigued to see if this collection will make some big red carpet appearances. I can picture the likes of Zendaya, Naomi Watts, Charlize Theron, Rihanna, Serayah, Ciara, Rita Ora, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, and Charlize Theron rocking this collection on the red carpet. My favorite look, and one that I really want to see on the red carpet is an army green one shoulder crop top over a brown sweater, and pleated evening skirt. I would love to see this on a red carpet but without the sweater on Ciara or Zendaya.

Runway Report: Rosie Assoulin Fall 2016 RTW

Rosie Assoulin has been making waves in the fashion industry with her updated dramatic reinvention of sportswear and evening wear. Rosie has been one of my favorite brands to watch grow and her Fall 2016 RTW collection presented with a  set of multicolored tapper candles melting down a trellis was just a delight. Rosie takes some of the standards like t-shirts, trench coats, and button down shirts and gives us something new that no one else is doing. I get a lot of delight when I see Rosie's stunning creations on the red carpet and I can picture a bevy of beautiful ladies like Solange Knowles, Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore, Kate Bosworth, Riley Keough, Kate Hudson, Jessica Chastain, Victoria Beckham, Beyonce, Lupita Nyong'o, Michelle Dockery, Charlize Theron, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Hailee Steinfeld wearing on the red carpet. I do have my favorite piece a pool blue asymmetrical evening gown mentally on reserve for Diane Kruger to wear.

Runway Report: Coach 1941 Fall 2016 RTW

Since he has taken reign at Coach creative director Stuart Vevers has continued to champion high levels of basics and American sportswear classics. Sales have been through the roof and Coach is now being seen as a luxury brand yet again. Prior to Vevers being brought on to reinvent the brand I had written Coach off and saw their products as tacky. Now each runway show makes me covet many many many pieces. I would take the oversized letterman style jackets and shearling fur coats with no hesitation. The pieces from this collection are all the elevated American sportswear staples that people covet for their own closets. While I don't see any of these looks making it to the red carpet I can see ladies like Rihanna, Rita Ora, Miley Cyrus, Kate Bosworth, Reese Witherspoon, Miranda Kerr, and Olivia Palermo vying for this collection end up in their closets to elevate their street style looks. I had afond love of all the boots and chunky heeled loafers that were paired with these looks. These shoes are what I bet you we will see a lot of during New York Fashion Week next February as the fashion pack fights the battle between staying chic and staying warm in frigid NYC temps.

Runway Report: Michael Kors Fall 2016 RTW

There was a look for every type of woman at the Michael Kors Fall 2016 RTW presentation during New York Fashion Week. Usually Michael picks one of his woman be she the relaxed bohemian, sexy sultriness, edgy, classic, movie star or pop superstar. This season each of those women would be able to look at this collection and pick at least one item, if not a full look, and mesh it into her wardrobe seamlessly. I loved that Michael used beading, crystals, studs, feathers, fur, grommets, cable knits, and denim in this collection which just made me swoon from start to finish. I can't wait to see what custom looks Michael will derive from this collection for the Academy Awards and for the Met Ball. My favorite look from the collection was the finale look which consisted of a hip-hop era-esque white fur coat over a simple grey cashmere sweater and paired with a pair of silver beaded fringe trousers. If I were a lady I would totally  be lusting after those pants to add to my wardrobe. I would love to see Emma Stone, Camilla Belle, Blake Lively, Jennifer Hudson, Naomi Watts, Solange Knowles, Olivia Wilde, Lupita Nyong'o, Viola Davis, Naomie Harris, Julianne Moore, Emily Blunt, Miranda Kerr, Elizabeth Banks, Riley Keough, Olivia Munn, Eva Mendez, Saoirse Ronan, and Jennifer Lopez all rocking this collection on the red carpet.

Runway Report: Tory Burch Fall 2016 RTW

Tory Burch continues to show me collections that I just fall head over heels in love with. A star model studded runway, opened by Taylor Hill, showcased a collection of truly covetable clothes. My sister is obsessed with Tory Burch's clothes and I sent her a plethora of pictures of looks from this collection and she wanted every single one. I love that Tory shows a collection each season that has both red carpet and personal style appeal and we don't have to wait to see what a commercial collection would look like as they are all in the same style. I think you would be surprised to learn that my favorite look from the collection was actually the patchwork blanket coat that Taylor Hill opened the show wearing. Easy going bohemian glamour is what this collection was all about and I have to say that this is definitely a collection that I will be obsessed over all season. Ladies I can see wearing this collection on and off the red carpet include Olivia Palermo, Miranda Kerr, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Olivia Wilde, Jessica Chastain, Kate Hudson, Naomi Watts, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Jessica Parker, Camilla Belle, Kate Bosworth, Dianna Agron, & Emmy Rossum.

Runway Report: Oscar de la Renta Fall 2016 RTW

Peter Copping continues to do a brilliant job keeping the legacy of the Oscar de la Renta alive. Copping has been exploring different aspects of the de la Renta legacy and for Fall 2016 RTW he looked at the famed 1973 Battle of Versailles, which pitted American fashion designers against French couturiers. The American's came out on top and cemented American fashion as something for the French to contend with as well as a goldmine of money was raised to aid in the restoration of the famed french palace. Coping took this collection and paid homage to de la Renta's classic style as well as taking inspiration from the Palace of Versailles and it's most famous resident, Marie Antoinette. The collection was not costume like, as many collections that reference Marie Antoinette do. The subtle prints inspired by the fabrics and wallpapers of the Palace mixed with a lot of structure just showed us how now Marie Antoinette can be. One thing I love, but do not see as practical, are the statement necklaces that were tied together with large silk taffeta bows. Choosing my favorite piece from the collection was incredibly difficult but ultimately I chose to the gorgeous wine techno cotton cocktail dress with sequin embroidery on the bodice and straps. This look is so undeniably Oscar and you can see the Marie Antoinette which I would love to see Brie Larson wearing in the lead up to the Academy Awards. I am sure that there will be at least one of the stunning gowns from this collection out on the red carpet's on Oscar night and I can not wait to see which one it will be and who will get the honor. Naomi Watts, Anna Wintour, Anna Kendrick, Jessica Chastain, Blake Lively, Karolina Kurkova, Dita Von Teese, Kate Bosworth, Diane Kruger, Emmy Rossum, Beyonce, Camilla Belle, Elizabeth Banks, Odeya Rush, Sarah Jessica Parker, Penelope Cruz, Jessica Biel, Tina Fey, Cate Blanchett, and Keri Russell are all people that came to mind when I watched this collection walk down the runway.

Runway Report: Carolina Herrera Fall 2016 RTW

For a second season in a row Carolina Herrera showed her collection to the public at the Frick Collection. In stark contrast to the Spring collection it was a much moodier look for the Carolina Herrera woman for Fall 2016 RTW. I was not quite as taken as I was with the very pretty Spring collection but this more sultry look was something at I also appreciate. This collection was the other woman in Carolina's clientele. With the theme of this years Met Ball theme being "Manus vs Machina" there are a few looks that I can picture some of Carolina's favorite muses rocking for the big red carpet, and of course we are bound to see the collection out on Oscar night. My favorite look from this collection was a nude beaded cocktail dress which I am praying that Emmy Rossum snatches for the red carpet. With so many chic ladylike looks I am sure that a bevy of stars like Olivia Palermo, Emma Watson, Paz Vega, Camilla Belle, Blake Lively, Zhang Ziyi, Diane Kruger, Eva Longoria, Naomi Watts, Penelope Cruz, Cate Blanchett, Kiernan Shipka, Dianna Agron, Emilia Clarke, Cynthia Nixon, Meryl Streep, Kate Bosworth, Taylor Schilling, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Marion Cotillard will be fighting over the looks from this collection.

Runway Report: Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2016 RTW

ALL ABOARD! Tommy Hilfiger literally took us aboard the deck of the T.H. Atlantic for his Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear collection. I always love seeing Tommy Hilfiger's runway shows as he shoes such wearable stuff in such a grand way. Only big European brands like Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton tend to put on spectacle type shows where there are dramatic sets and I love that Tommy brings that to New York Fashion Week, its more of a theatrical production than just a fashion show. The 30's and 40's were the grounding points in most of the collection. Tommy wanted this collection to look like a modern girl found her grandmothers vintage silk dress and threw her sparkly on-trend loafers on and grabbed her puffy coat and walked out the door, and he made that vision come true through each look. There was a distinct breakup of the classic brought through the set and the more modern with Michael Jackson hits Don't Stop Till You Get Enough, Off The Wall, Rock With You, & Get On The Floor on the soundtrack, blending the ideas that were construed with the styling of the clothes. I honestly don't think that there was a single look that I actually didn't like. Everything about Tommy was absolute perfection. My favorite look from the collection was the closing look a gold sequined 40's inspired sailor dress modeled by superstar Gigi Hadid. I am actually really hoping that Tommy turns that gold sequined cocktail dress into a gown for the Met Ball and has someone like Jourdan Dunn or Claire Danes rock it on the red carpet. While I can see this being on the back of every flirty and cool girl in street style I can also picture Naomi Watts, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Rihanna, Marion Cotillard, Zooey Deschanel, Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick, Dakota Fanning, Sarah Hyland, Shailene Woodley, Suki Waterhouse, Cate Blanchett, Rita Ora, Jessica Chastain, Diane Kruger, Carey Mulligan, & Dakota Johnson rocking on different red carpets.

Runway Report: Sally Lapointe Fall 2016 RTW

I fell in love with Sally Lapointe when she invited me to her Fall 2014 RTW show and I discovered her chic looks in real time. Sally is a master at manipulating fur and that was really apparent during her Fall 2016 RTW show yesterday. The show opened with a cream oversized cable knit sweater which featured fur poufs on the sleeves paired with a matching cream leather split skirt. I want that sweater. I can imagine taking New York Fashion Week by storm wearing it, and I now need it in my closet. It was a mix of relaxed glamour of the 90s and intricate details that made this collection one of my favorites of fashion week. It was hard for me to picture a favorite look because I can see so many red carpet moments on the backs of the likes of Charlize Theron, Olivia Wilde, Olivia Palermo, Jourdan Dunn, Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong'o, Karlie Kloss, and Kirsten Dunst but the grey knit sleeveless sweater paired with a matching knit evening skirt just screams high glam meets casual luxe and I can picture Rihanna giving this gown the red carpet moment that it really deserves.

Runway Report: Prabal Gurung Fall 2016 RTW

I was all over the Prabal Gurung Fall 2016 RTW collection. Prabal just keeps getting better and this collection was just another punctuation of why he has amassed such a large celebrity following. Diane Kruger, Olivia Culpo, Jaime King, Ashley Madekwe, Karolina Kurkova, and Olivia Palermo were all perched front row taking in all of the amazing looks from this collection. A fashionable woman taking the natural world was the inspiration for this collection and was seen through amazing fur and shearling coats and chunky knit sweaters. Prabal is usually known for his red carpet looks but there are plenty of pieces in this collection for fashionistas working the sidewalk sartorial runways to snatch up, I personally want the white fur shearling zippered coat (seen center). There was no stop of femininity in this collection with dresses designed with deliberate button detail cutaways. These button details just added a subtle undone sensuality to silky cocktail dresses. The white finale beaded cold shoulder gown, modeled by one of my favorites Vanessa Moody, is the look that I am betting will be on the red carpet on Oscar Night. Maybe Diane will snatch this look up for the Vanity Fair Party. Jennifer Hudson, January Jones, Zoe Saldana, Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker, Naomi Watts, Olivia Wilde, Jessica Chastain, Emma Stone, Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie, and Uma Thurman are all stars that I can see wearing this stunning collection on the red carpet.

Runay Report: Victoria Beckham Fall 2016 RTW

It has been seasons since I have truly LOVED a Victoria Beckham collection but yesterday she presented the most amazing collection for Fall 2016 RTW. After a few seasons of looser fits Victoria Beckham returned to her prime with lots of fitted looks and stunning corsets. This collection meshed masculinity and femininity so extremely well that it was hard to decipher in spots where that masculine inspiration stopped and femininity began. Plaid tweed and bold stripes stayed as a constant theme through the whole collection and made for what will undoubtedly a plethora of stunning red carpet moments. The look that I am most looking forward to seeing on the red carpet is the camel and black striped asymmetrical a-line cocktail dress that I am praying Emilia Clarke gets her hands on. Dakota Johnson, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Julianna Margulies, Rita Ora, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Lupita Nyong'o, Michelle Dockery, Gwyneth Paltrow, Keri Russell, Julianne Moore, Rihanna, and January Jones are all other lovely ladies that I would love to see bring this collection to life on the red carpet.

Runway Report: Derek Lam Fall 2016 RTW

Derek Lam is always a show that I am excited to see even though it doesn't usually have much red carpet appeal. This season Derek showed quite a few looks with red carpet potential alongside his signature tailored day wear. I will be intrigued to see who will pull Derek Lam for their red carpet and press appearances. I can picture stars like Kate Holmes, Claire Danes, Emma Stone, Lea Seydoux, Anna Wintour, Victoria Beckham, and Diane Kruger all come to mind as I watch these looks strut down the runway. My favorite look, which I saw on Instagram for the first time and actually made me want to write a review, was the long sleeved electric blue beaded cocktail dress which someone like Julianne Moore would slay wearing on a red carpet.

Runway Report: Altuzarra Fall 2016 RTW

Joseph Altuzarra showed his Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear collection to a star studded front row which included Emily Ratajkowski, Jaime King, Kate Beckinsale, and Olivia Palermo. The curiosity of the main characters in the Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton staring film Only Lover's Left Alive was the starting point for this collection. The characters live in a vibrant but isolated community and evokes like kind of gypsy spirit that you definitely see in the styling of this collection. I love that Altuzarra mixes his red carpet looks with pieces that make for amazing sartorial style. There were a few coats from this collection that I am dying to get my hands on, as well as a bevy of looks that I am dying to see on a red carpet. My favorite look in the collection was a sleeveless sequined handkerchief gown that I can see on the red carpet on the back of Allison Williams, Zoe Saldana, or Emma Stone. Other ladies I can picture wearing this collection include Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Kidman, Olivia Wilde, Michelle Obama, Anna Wintour, Miranda Kerr, Olivia Palermo, Jaime King, Olivia Munn, Cate Blanchett, and Naomie Harris.

Runway Report: Monique Lhuillier Fall 2016 RTW

Monique Lhuillier was exactly what I needed when I was starting to get fatigued of New York Fashion Week and a lot of blah collections. I can always count on Monique to shake things up and make a most beautiful collection that makes me swoon and this was no exception. The Fall 2016 collection is an artistic expression of an eccentric woman that is cool, relaxed, and rock ‘n’ roll. The Monique Lhuillier woman mixes unexpected combinations and experiments with rich textures for over-the-top elegance. At the start of the collection there were a lot of layered looks which mixed different styles and textures. The show opened with a soft lace gown worn under a light brown wool fur collared coat just starting to show off the mixing of textures. Another look paired a crystal lattice jacket over a sheer black end yellow embroidered blouse paired with black satin striped cropped pants mixed high glam with rock 'n' roll edge. Monique also did not disappoint on the gown front displaying a myriad of different styles. My favorite look was a watermelon pink tiered tulle strapless ball gown which features blue embroidered flowered on the bustier cascading down onto the skirt which I would love see someone like Daisy Ridley, Lupita Nyong'o, or Emmy Rossum wearing on the red carpet. Other beautiful ladies I can picture wearing this amazing collection include Cheryl Cole, Hailee Steinfeld, Viola Davis, Allison Williams, Kate Beckinsale, Zhang Ziyi, Fan Bingbing, Diane Kruger, Amber Heard, Florence Welch, Cate Blanchett, Naomi Watts, Olivia Palermo, Kerry Washington, Kate Hudson, Miranda Kerr, Camilla Belle, Jessica Chastain, and Olivia Wilde. Check out all the looks from the collection in the gallery bellow.

Runway Report: Hellessy Fall 2016 RTW

When I can picture the likes of Olivia Wilde, January Jones, Solange Knowles, and Olivia Palermo wearing the collection you know that it is a cool girl collection. Hellessy has always been a favorite of mine as they give us amazing high fashion wear for every day and Sylvie Millstein definitely delivered on that for her Fall 2016 RTW presentation. The pieces in this collection are covetable from the grey balloon sleeve blouse to the emerald jacquard pants.  These are the pieces that I can picture the fashionistas working on the sidewalk runway as they run to the different shows come September. My favorite look included an off the shoulder balloon sleeve emerald green jacquard blouse and grey window pane plaid slacks that I can picture cool girl Milla Jovovich rocking for a photocall or television appearance.

Runway Report: Sachin + Babi Fall 2016 RTW

Sachin + Babi is always one lookbook that I continue to enjoy seeing at the start of New York Fashion Week. Usually Sachin + Babi is just pure chic glamour and that was exactly what was on the menu for the Fall 2016 RTW collection. I am sure that a bevy of different stars will snatch this collection up as it is very red carpet ready. The look I would most like to see on a red carpet is the red embroidered strapless peplum top paired with purple satin pants. I think that this is a modern meets vintage look that something that I am loving for cocktail style red carpets right now. I can picture Olivia Palermo wearing that ensemble on the red carpet with a feathery black clutch and a pair of killer shoes. Other starlets that I can picture wearing this collection include Uma Thurman, Connie Britton, Reese Witherspoon, Helen Mirren, Jane Fonda, Sarah Paulson, Bella Thorne, Leslie Mann, Alison Brie, Karolina Kurkova, Kiernan Shipka, Anna Faris, and Odeya Rush.

Runway Report: Brock Collection Fall 2016 RTW

Laura Vassar and Kristopher Brock presented their first ever runway show at Milk Studios yesterday during New York Fashion Week. I have long been interested in Brock as I have seen the past collections look books and their first ever runway show was a big success. I have never been as enamored with one of their collections like I have with this one. There were many different types of looks from classic glam to relaxed modernity. The white fur coat with tie belt and light wash ripped denim was a great juxtaposition of high luxury and normcore, against some of the high glam looks like the grey embroidered full skirt paired with a wine knit sweater and fur stole. It was like a mix of 40s, 50s, and 90s all meshed perfectly together, which full on shocked me. My favorite look from the collection was the grey embroidered off the shoulder cocktail dress that I would love to see Jessica Chastain wear on the red carpet. Other women I would love to see wearing this collection on the red carpet Rihanna, January Jones, Helen Mirren, Solange Knowles, Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, Amber Heard, Zoe Kravitz, and Alicia Vikander.

Runway Report: BCBG Max Azria Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear

New York Fashion Week officially kicked off today and at the start we had, as per usual, BCBG Max Azria. I always tend to look at BCBG because I love the casual looks that Max Azria sends down the runway. This collection always gives me looks that I can picture on the backs of some of the chic fashion pack as the run from show to show next February. I got a very disco grunge glamour from this collection. From the slashed knit tights and sparkling laurex undershirts to the asymmetrical layers and oversized coats this collection was definitely one that has a lot of street style potential. Leandra Mendine of Man Repeller was drawn to the sparkling undershirts as was I. There were quite a few amazing coats in this collection and I am sure one or two will be snapped next season. The fur trend set for Fall 2015 showed no signs of slowing down at BCBG adorning coats, jackets, and shoes. Overall I was very happy to see that BCBG Max Azria had given me something more chic than they did last season. A great way to kick off NYFW!

Runway Report: Saint Laurent Fall 2016 at the Hollywood Palladium

After foregoing showing the Saint Laurent menswear collection during Paris Men's Fashion Week Heidi Silmane showed his Fall 2016 Menswear and Part 1 of his Fall 2016 Womenswear collection to a house packed full of celebrities at the Hollywood Palladium. Amidst rumors that that he is leaving Heidi showcased my favorite Saint Laurent collection under his reign this far. The move to LA saw a different side of the Saint Laurent woman and man. This collection was heavily 60's and 70's movie star inspired with pieces that look like the could have been incorporated into an actor or actresses wardrobes from pieces that were costumes from movies that they were in (the red velvet cape with the gold trim pictured above and the 17th century inspired embroidered men's jacket bellow). Of the men's collection my favorite piece, and the one I covet the most, is the amazing sequined biker jacket. I want that for when I am running from show to show during New York Fashion Week next February.
My favorite look from the women's collection was the green chiffon gown which featured ostrich feather trimming at the neck and on the wrists. I am majorly hoping that January Jones gets her hands on that dress because I think that her type of glamour would just make this not look like a costume on the red carpet. I am intrigued to see where this collection will end up and what will be worn. Will some of the menswear make it onto the Grammy Awards red carpet on Monday night? Will we see it on Oscar night? Who will Heidi bring to the Met Ball? All questions that I have as this collection is just that good. A great kick off to fashion month.
