Runway Report: Sally Lapointe Fall 2016 RTW

I fell in love with Sally Lapointe when she invited me to her Fall 2014 RTW show and I discovered her chic looks in real time. Sally is a master at manipulating fur and that was really apparent during her Fall 2016 RTW show yesterday. The show opened with a cream oversized cable knit sweater which featured fur poufs on the sleeves paired with a matching cream leather split skirt. I want that sweater. I can imagine taking New York Fashion Week by storm wearing it, and I now need it in my closet. It was a mix of relaxed glamour of the 90s and intricate details that made this collection one of my favorites of fashion week. It was hard for me to picture a favorite look because I can see so many red carpet moments on the backs of the likes of Charlize Theron, Olivia Wilde, Olivia Palermo, Jourdan Dunn, Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong'o, Karlie Kloss, and Kirsten Dunst but the grey knit sleeveless sweater paired with a matching knit evening skirt just screams high glam meets casual luxe and I can picture Rihanna giving this gown the red carpet moment that it really deserves.

"Creed" London Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

I saw Creed back in November and I was sitting on the edge of my seat for almost the entire movie. Such a great way to keep the Rocky tradition alive, receiving quite a lot of awards buzz for Sylvester Stallone. I am excited that the cast will be jetting to London for the European premiere. Michael B. Jordan continues to be a rising star not only on the screen but on the red carpet. I love that we rarely see Michael wearing the basic black tuxedo on the red carpet, men are starting to have fun with their red carpet dressing. I am really excited to see what Michael will wear on the red carpet at the premiere on Tuesday. I would love to see him wearing this Hardy Amies Spring 2016 Menswear silk suit. I love that the print is almost a mix of camo and water. I think that Michael would rock this suit with gusto on the red carpet. Finished with black patent leather lace ups, a crisp white button down, and a black skinny tie I think that this would be an exceptional red carpet look for Michael.
Tessa Thompson has been growing on the red carpets and I have been loving watching her make her amazing choices. I am excited to see what she is going to wear on the red carpet at the Creed premiere in London. Tessa wears a lot of the cool girl brands like Rodarte and Miu Miu and I love that about her. For this premiere I picked another cool girl brand for Tessa to wear. I would love to see her wearing this acid peridot Sally Lapointe Pre-Fall 2016 sequin sleeveless scoop neck cocktail dress. Tessa has the body type and red carpet presence to make this dress not look like she is just wearing a green sequin sack on the red carpet. With such a bold statement the dress is the styling should be kept simple with a chic bun, a lined eye, pink lip, black clutch, and a pair of simple sandals

Runway Report: Sally Lapointe Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Sally Lapointe SS16 RTW
I have always been a fan of Sally Lapointe, since I first discovered her thanks to Mother Monster Lady Gaga. The New York City based, and Massachusetts born, designer has come a long way from the PVC looks that Lady Gaga wore. Sally is now a darling of fashionistas like Bergdorf Goodman buyer Linda Fargo and Leandra Medine, founder of the blog Man Repeller. Now we love Sally for her chic sophisticated uptown/downtown girl ascetic. Now with that being said I do not think that the Sally Lapointe Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection was very springy. I have been complaining about this since the start of fashion week. I don't want to wear a coat in the heat of the summer, so why not save them for a Fall/Winter collection. My favorite look from the collection came courtesy of a fully beaded t shirt top that was paired with a vinyl skirt. It was a mix of what was and what is when it comes to the Sally Lapointe girl and I think that the uptown girl would love the top and the downtown girl would love the skirt.

2014 Toronto International Film Festival Wish List Part 3

The fall will show the return of Elizabeth Banks on the red carpet. As one of my favorite red carpet stars I can not wait for her to bring her sense of style back onto my computer screen. Headed to the Toronto International Film Festival to premiere her film "Love & Mercy" I am really praying that the best unofficial brand ambassador for Versace will grab up this electric blue one shoulder jumpsuit from the Atelier Versace Fall 2014 Couture collection. What I love so much about EBanks is that she can work edgy ensembles just as easy as she does the floating ladylike sophisticated styles. This is definitely an edgy look but I think that TIFF is a perfect platform for this ensemble to be worn. A pair of black sandals, hair styled into a a sleek pony, and some simple makeup would finish this ensemble off perfectly for the "Love & Mercy" TIFF premiere.
After being seated front row at the Christian Dior Fall 2014 Couture presentation it would not surprise me if Rosamund Pike chooses a look from the collection for her TIFF premiere of "Hector and the Search for Happiness." Rosamund is gearing up to start a few long months of doing the promotional song and dance as he has a few films coming out, one of which is gaining some serious Oscar buzz. With all that in mind I would love for her to start on a sweet note wearing this baby pink Christian Dior Fall 2014 Couture cocktail dress. This dress gives a very 1950's housewife vibe to me by way of Raf Simons modernism and I think that Rose would look absolutely stunning. I would change the waist band to just be a sold silver metal belt, and add a pair of silver embellished pumps to accessorize this look perfectly. A vintage inspired hairstyle and a red lip would just be the ideal finishing touches for this TIFF premiere ensemble.
Toni Collette is not one of my favorite ladies to see take to the red carpet, as she usually leaves me felling uninspired, but none the less she will most likely stand next to Rosamund Pike to promote their film "Hector and the Search for Happiness" at the Toronto International Film Festival. Having worn Sally LaPointe twice this year while promoting films I was inspired to put Toni in this black Sally LaPointe Fall 2014 RTW black silk gown with a trapeze blouse. I saw this gown walk during New York Fashion Week back in February and it just hugs the body and would look so sleek and sophisticated on Toni for this TIFF premiere. I would slick Toni's hair back into a sleek pony tail and give her a red lip as the beauty styling for this ensemble. Accessorized with a black clutch and black pumps Toni would have her best look of the year in a very simple sleek way.
Jessica Chastain will be at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival to premiere her film "Miss Julie." Jessica has 3 films listed on the Indiewire 2015 Oscar Predictions that could earn her a Best Actress nomination. Out of 22 names on this list Chastain has all of her films ranked in the top 10. Needless to say Mrs Chastain will also be starting her Academy Awards song and dance at TIFF. For her "Miss Julie" premiere  I would love to see Jessica give me something a little different, since she has the new bangs and all, and this Valentino Fall 2014 Couture embellished tulle cocktail dress would definitely do that. I would figure that Jessica would have the dress semi lined so that it was not quite as sheer as it is on the runway, but I personally would leave it as it is. Finish the look with a pair of metallic navy sandals and a red lip and Jessica will wow me like she normally does on the red carpet for the TIFF premiere of "Miss Julie."

2014 Critics Choice Television Awards Wish List Part 3

Angie Harmon from the TNT drama "Rizzoli & Isles" will be on hand tomorrow night at the Critics Choice Television Awards held at the Beverly Hilton as a presenter. I either love or hate Angie on the red carpet and I am hoping that it will be the former when it comes to tomorrow night. I think that this sleek silk jersey Ralph Lauren Pre-Fall 2014 long sleeved gown with a plunging neckline in wheat is the perfect balance between sporty and glamour which is exactly what Angie needs on the red carpet. I would style her hair in a sleek up do with a fresh face of makeup, like they did on the runway. A small sliver leather minaudiere, a pair of silver simple sandals, and a pair of diamond cluster earrings would put the perfect finishing touches on this presenter perfect look.
Christina Applegate is another presenter scheduled to take to the stage tomorrow night at the 2014 Critics Choice Awards. I don't really know what to expect when it comes to Christina. I used to be blown away by her in the likes of Elie Saab and Roberto Cavalli Couture, but I don't think that is what is going to make an appearance on Christina tomorrow night. I think that this black Sally LaPointe Fall 2014 RTW black silk wool degrade gown with hand beaded appliques would be an amazing option. I saw this gown walk the runway back in February at New York Fashion Week and I am praying that it will get a major red carpet moment. Sally has had a major year red carpet wise dressing lots of stars for their big appearances. Finish this look with a black Edie Parker clutch, a pair of simple Stuart Weitzman 'Nudist' sandals in black, a diamond bracelet, and a pair of simple diamond cluster earrings to ensure that Christina stands out in her black gown.
When I read that Diane Kruger is going to be a presenter at the Critics Choice Awards tomorrow night I will admit I let out a bit of a squeal. I love seeing Diane take to the red carpet and I know she will bring the high fashion factor to a red carpet that is usually dominated by stereotypically "pretty" gowns. We have not seen Diane wear a look from Christian Dior since it has been helmed by Raf Simons and I think that it is finally time that we do. This black silk chiffon overlay gown that covers a knee length cocktail dress with a circle print that is completely made up of white sequins. This is a more sporty look that we are used to Diane rocking but I seriously believe that this would look stunning. At 5 foot 7 inches Diane is not the tallest woman but I think that she could rock this gown better than the six foot tall model. A white Edie Parker clutch, a pair of black Stuart Weitzman "Nudist" sandals, a sporty hairstyle, and a red lip would ensure that Diane rocks this look like only a true fashionista could.
Black....that is the red carpet usual for Elisabeth Moss. This fact makes me sad because when she first made it on the red carpet she would work gowns in a bevy of colors. I am hoping that when she takes to the stage as a presenter tomorrow at the Critics Choice Television Awards tomorrow that she brings a bold colorful look. This magenta Monique Lhuillier Resort 2015 one shoulder gown with a side cutout and pleated skirt is a perfect look for Elisabeth. I think that the sporty nature of this gown is perfect for the Critics Choice Awards. Elisabeth is not nominated or on the fashion queen level of Diane Kruger so a "pretty" gown is called for. I would just pair this look with gold pumps and a bold lip color to make sure that Elisabeth makes the best dressed list and not the worst dressed list she has been frequenting.

Runway Report: Sally Lapointe Fall 2014 RTW

Sally Lapointe looked to the blackbird for her Fall 2014 RTW collection shown at Skylight Modern on Friday during New York Fashion Week. The collection worked with shades of blue, black, grey, purple, and gold and had a very uptown meets downtown approach. Chic sleeveless sweaters with oversized turtlenecks were paired with structured leather skirts and Gio Diev for Sally Lapoite pointed toe ankle boots. The music and space really stood out as a play of hard against the softness of the collection. While I was kind of disappointed that the woman put on the map by Lady Gaga showed a tame collection it was still one of the favorites that I saw in my time in NYC!
