2016 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 12

Heidi Klum is always at every red carpet so when I saw Heidi's name on the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party event co-chairs list I rolled my eyes a little. Heidi rarely gives me a look to love on the red carpet and I don't have very high expectations for her next Sunday night. I picked this white Atelier Versace Spring 2015 Couture gown for Heidi to wear, as the dress checks all her typical boxes. Sexy, fitted, and Versace. As long as Heidi doesn't show up in a feathered look that likens to a mawled old Muppet, I think that I will be okay with just writing her off.
At 16 Kiernan Shipka is already cemented as a fashion "IT" girl rocking couture and custom looks from some of the worlds most coveted and avant garde designers. I am wondering if Kiernan will be out on Oscar night, as I really hope she is, just to add a dose of avant garde glamour to the red carpet. One of Kiernan's favorite brands to wear on the red carpet is Delpozo, whom just presented their Fall 2016 RTW collection at New York Fashion Week, and I am hoping that Kiernan is the first to get her hands on a look from the collection. I picked this strapless cocktail ensemble which features a bold blue bustier and full embroidered skirt for Kiernan to wear on the Vanity Fair red carpet. Kiernan is one of the few that I can picture taking this dress and making it work on the red carpet. A bold blue clutch and gold sandals would be the perfect accessories for this red carpet ensemble.
Olivia Munn just hosted the Academy Scientific/Technical Awards and will be on hand at the main show to present a segment about those awards. I figure that Olivia will make her way from the Dolby theater to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party after the show has concluded. Next week you will see what fabulous Michael Kors ensemble that I would love to see Olivia wear on the main red carpet but for the after party I would love to see Olivia go for something really fun yet glamorous. I think that this gold sequined long sleeve Naeem Khan Fall 2016 RTW jumpsuit with a plunging neckline would be a very fun different look for Olivia to wear on the Vanity Fair red carpet. A lot of stars go as big as they would for the main show at Vanity Fair but I think that this jumpsuit is a more modern glam look, and something a little more relaxed after a major gown at the main show. A gold Rauwolf clutch, a pair of gold pumps, old Hollywood waves, yellow gold set diamond cluster earrings, and a red lip would give this look a disco glam vibe for the Vanity Fair red carpet.
With her film Mad Max: Fury Road being nominated for Best Picture we are sure to see Rosie Huntington-Whiteley on the red carpets of Oscar night, most likely at Vanity Fair. For her Oscar night ensemble I would love to see Rosie wearing this midnight blue and purple Armani Prive Fall 2015 Couture strapless sequined gown which I kind of equate with an oil slick. I think that this is a chic glam moment for Rosie and if anyone can turn a glam gown and give it a punch of sex appeal it would be the former Victoria's Secret angel. Hollywood red carpets tend to call for every glam looks and Rosie knows how to deliver on that front. A navy Edie Parker clutch, a pair of black sandals, glam waves, a red lip, and diamond drop earrings would finish this look off perfectly for Rosie.
Rounding out this post is CREED star Tessa Thompson who is now considered an "IT" girl thanks to her status as a muse for Rodarte. The stunning actress was perched front row at the Rodarte Fall 2016 RTW presentation, no doubt shopping for a red carpet look for Oscar night. I would love to see Tessa wearing this wine Rodarte Fall 2016 RTW lace floral embroidered gown. Not many would be able to make this look work on a red carpet but I believe that Tessa would be able to rock this look with ease. I would love to see Tessa style her hair into a bun of braids, a wine lip, and black sandals to give this look a modern "IT" girl red carpet moment.

Best Dressed of January 2016

Well we have the first Best Dressed list for a month. Just as a friendly reminder I don't include the major red carpets that I cover in different capacities over the blog, like the Golden Globe or SAG Awards, so that I can allow for some of the other beautiful looks that grace red carpets around the world. Topping the Best Dressed of January list is Dakota Johnson who was so flirty and feminine on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon wearing a Gucci Spring 2016 RTW cocktail dress. I have been on one side or the other but I finally believe that Dakota Johnson is finding her red carpet footing on the red carpet and I am starting to love her almost every time that she steps out. This was the look that firmly cemented her in my one to watch podium.
When Awards Season 2016 kicked off at the Palm Springs International Awards Gala I was very taken by Cate Blanchett in her custom Marc Jacobs gown. I found this vintage inspired gown to be something that Cate was absolutely enchanting wearing. Since then I have been very let down by Cate and I am hoping that she gets back on her red carpet footing before the Academy Awards at the end of this month.

Jourdan Dunn earns her first post on the blog in a coveted Best Dressed spot thanks to her absolutely beautiful Burberry look that she wore to sit front row at the Burberry Fall 2016 Menswear presentation. I love everything about this look from the fur vest to the olive shirt dress to the strappy Burberry sandals and the absolutely stunning hair and makeup. Sometimes front row fashions can go too over the top but this look feels authentic to Jourdan's personal style.

Last year through awards season Rosamund Pike really didn't wow me but I was finally blown away by one of her look with this sizzling crimson Azzedine Alaia gown which she wore to the IWC 'Come Fly with us' Gala Dinner. This gown mixed chic sex appeal with classic glamour. I am usually not a fan of Alaia on the red carpet but this gown was one of the absolutely best Alaia moments on the red carpet ever.
Alicia Vikander has been consistently showing up on the red carpets this awards season looking absolutely fabulous. While her Golden Globes and SAG Awards gowns might have been dictated to be Louis Vuitton based on her contract Alicia strays from the brand for some of the smaller red carpet parties. For the W Magazine celebration of the 'Best Performances' Portfolio and The Golden Globes Alicia wore a stunning Marc Jacobs Resort 2016 abstract floral print cocktail dress. I love that Alicia gives me a varied number of different styles of looks so it was hard picking which of her looks was going to feature on this list and this Marc Jacobs dress just took the cake.

The People's Choice Awards are usually a more laid back and and casual event so when major movie star Kate Hudson stepped out I was extremely intrigued to see what she was going to be wearing. The strapless ivory Stella McCartney tuxedo inspired jumpsuit that she wore for the red carpet was something that really spoke to me. I love to see Kate in these relaxed high glam type of looks as her boho glam type of style really shows through in this type of look.

December was really a great month for Star Wars: The Force Awakens breakout star Daisy Ridley and I actually made an exception to add this stunning purple Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2016 floral gown which she wore to the films premiere in Tokyo as she wore it after my Best Dressed of the Year list was posted but still before the first of the year. Daisy has already cemented her fashionista credentials by wearing looks from coveted brands like Chanel, Dior and Giambattista Valli but it was this complicated gown that I only pictured Diane Kruger pulling off that really made Daisy the "It" girl for me. I am kinda hoping that she gets the call to present at the Oscars.
Tessa Thompson knows exactly what to do to blow me away for a major movie premiere. She took one of my favorite gowns from the Marc Jacobs Spring 2016 RTW collection and went all old Hollywood with the styling letting the abstract gown do all of the talking for the London premiere of Creed. I had high expectations for Tessa for this premiere and she definitely did not let me down.

The addition of Diane Kruger to this list for her stunning Giambattista Valli Spring 2015 Couture cocktail dress worn to the Sidaction Gala might be a little self serving because I posted a prediction just the day before that she would wear this on the red carpet on Pinterest and I love when my wishes come true. Diane always knows how to work a more complicated look and this definitely could have gone in a bad direction but her classic styling with pulled back waves, red lip, silver clutch, and strappy Giambattista Valli sandals just ensured that this was a stunning look on Diane.

I welcome Gigi Hadid to the ranks of women who have made it to my Best Dressed list with her wearing one of my favorite looks from the Sally Lapointe Pre-Fall 2016 collection for the 'The Power Of Colors' MAYBELLINE New York Make-Up Runway show. As it was an event for Maybelline, which Gigi is a face of, her hair and makeup were on point and I do not begrudge her pointed pumps with the feathered details of the gown. Gigi took this complicated gown and wore it with such ease that it was simple for me to award her a spot on this list.

Who was your best dressed? You can see all the looks that I considered for this list over on my Facebook page, and I would love to know who is on your list.

"Creed" London Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

I saw Creed back in November and I was sitting on the edge of my seat for almost the entire movie. Such a great way to keep the Rocky tradition alive, receiving quite a lot of awards buzz for Sylvester Stallone. I am excited that the cast will be jetting to London for the European premiere. Michael B. Jordan continues to be a rising star not only on the screen but on the red carpet. I love that we rarely see Michael wearing the basic black tuxedo on the red carpet, men are starting to have fun with their red carpet dressing. I am really excited to see what Michael will wear on the red carpet at the premiere on Tuesday. I would love to see him wearing this Hardy Amies Spring 2016 Menswear silk suit. I love that the print is almost a mix of camo and water. I think that Michael would rock this suit with gusto on the red carpet. Finished with black patent leather lace ups, a crisp white button down, and a black skinny tie I think that this would be an exceptional red carpet look for Michael.
Tessa Thompson has been growing on the red carpets and I have been loving watching her make her amazing choices. I am excited to see what she is going to wear on the red carpet at the Creed premiere in London. Tessa wears a lot of the cool girl brands like Rodarte and Miu Miu and I love that about her. For this premiere I picked another cool girl brand for Tessa to wear. I would love to see her wearing this acid peridot Sally Lapointe Pre-Fall 2016 sequin sleeveless scoop neck cocktail dress. Tessa has the body type and red carpet presence to make this dress not look like she is just wearing a green sequin sack on the red carpet. With such a bold statement the dress is the styling should be kept simple with a chic bun, a lined eye, pink lip, black clutch, and a pair of simple sandals
