Best Dressed of January 2016

Well we have the first Best Dressed list for a month. Just as a friendly reminder I don't include the major red carpets that I cover in different capacities over the blog, like the Golden Globe or SAG Awards, so that I can allow for some of the other beautiful looks that grace red carpets around the world. Topping the Best Dressed of January list is Dakota Johnson who was so flirty and feminine on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon wearing a Gucci Spring 2016 RTW cocktail dress. I have been on one side or the other but I finally believe that Dakota Johnson is finding her red carpet footing on the red carpet and I am starting to love her almost every time that she steps out. This was the look that firmly cemented her in my one to watch podium.
When Awards Season 2016 kicked off at the Palm Springs International Awards Gala I was very taken by Cate Blanchett in her custom Marc Jacobs gown. I found this vintage inspired gown to be something that Cate was absolutely enchanting wearing. Since then I have been very let down by Cate and I am hoping that she gets back on her red carpet footing before the Academy Awards at the end of this month.

Jourdan Dunn earns her first post on the blog in a coveted Best Dressed spot thanks to her absolutely beautiful Burberry look that she wore to sit front row at the Burberry Fall 2016 Menswear presentation. I love everything about this look from the fur vest to the olive shirt dress to the strappy Burberry sandals and the absolutely stunning hair and makeup. Sometimes front row fashions can go too over the top but this look feels authentic to Jourdan's personal style.

Last year through awards season Rosamund Pike really didn't wow me but I was finally blown away by one of her look with this sizzling crimson Azzedine Alaia gown which she wore to the IWC 'Come Fly with us' Gala Dinner. This gown mixed chic sex appeal with classic glamour. I am usually not a fan of Alaia on the red carpet but this gown was one of the absolutely best Alaia moments on the red carpet ever.
Alicia Vikander has been consistently showing up on the red carpets this awards season looking absolutely fabulous. While her Golden Globes and SAG Awards gowns might have been dictated to be Louis Vuitton based on her contract Alicia strays from the brand for some of the smaller red carpet parties. For the W Magazine celebration of the 'Best Performances' Portfolio and The Golden Globes Alicia wore a stunning Marc Jacobs Resort 2016 abstract floral print cocktail dress. I love that Alicia gives me a varied number of different styles of looks so it was hard picking which of her looks was going to feature on this list and this Marc Jacobs dress just took the cake.

The People's Choice Awards are usually a more laid back and and casual event so when major movie star Kate Hudson stepped out I was extremely intrigued to see what she was going to be wearing. The strapless ivory Stella McCartney tuxedo inspired jumpsuit that she wore for the red carpet was something that really spoke to me. I love to see Kate in these relaxed high glam type of looks as her boho glam type of style really shows through in this type of look.

December was really a great month for Star Wars: The Force Awakens breakout star Daisy Ridley and I actually made an exception to add this stunning purple Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2016 floral gown which she wore to the films premiere in Tokyo as she wore it after my Best Dressed of the Year list was posted but still before the first of the year. Daisy has already cemented her fashionista credentials by wearing looks from coveted brands like Chanel, Dior and Giambattista Valli but it was this complicated gown that I only pictured Diane Kruger pulling off that really made Daisy the "It" girl for me. I am kinda hoping that she gets the call to present at the Oscars.
Tessa Thompson knows exactly what to do to blow me away for a major movie premiere. She took one of my favorite gowns from the Marc Jacobs Spring 2016 RTW collection and went all old Hollywood with the styling letting the abstract gown do all of the talking for the London premiere of Creed. I had high expectations for Tessa for this premiere and she definitely did not let me down.

The addition of Diane Kruger to this list for her stunning Giambattista Valli Spring 2015 Couture cocktail dress worn to the Sidaction Gala might be a little self serving because I posted a prediction just the day before that she would wear this on the red carpet on Pinterest and I love when my wishes come true. Diane always knows how to work a more complicated look and this definitely could have gone in a bad direction but her classic styling with pulled back waves, red lip, silver clutch, and strappy Giambattista Valli sandals just ensured that this was a stunning look on Diane.

I welcome Gigi Hadid to the ranks of women who have made it to my Best Dressed list with her wearing one of my favorite looks from the Sally Lapointe Pre-Fall 2016 collection for the 'The Power Of Colors' MAYBELLINE New York Make-Up Runway show. As it was an event for Maybelline, which Gigi is a face of, her hair and makeup were on point and I do not begrudge her pointed pumps with the feathered details of the gown. Gigi took this complicated gown and wore it with such ease that it was simple for me to award her a spot on this list.

Who was your best dressed? You can see all the looks that I considered for this list over on my Facebook page, and I would love to know who is on your list.

The Top 10 Looks from the Academy Awards

I have to say that when I first read the description of the Chanel Couture gown that Julianne Moore wore to the Academy Awards last night I was very afraid. I was waiting with bated breath for the stunning redhead to show up on the red carpet. When the actress, who won Best Actress last night, showed up I let out a HUGE sigh of relief. This white Chanel Couture gown is covered with 80,000 hand cut flower paillettes and took 27 people over 900 hours to make. Julianne really let the gown speak for itself slicking her hair back adding simple Chopard cluster earrings and a berry lip to finish off a breathtaking award winning look for the Oscar winning actress.
Many will be shocked that I put a black gown so far up my best dressed list. The reason for this is because no one could have worn this custom Maison Marigela Couture gown and made me love this more than the queen of the red carpet Cate Blanchett. While I was predicting that she would show up in Armani Prive this step to the left was just what I love about Cate. The beauty of this look was in the details. The frayed fringes and the stunning turquoise Tiffany & Co. floral bib necklace, which despite whatever Kelly Osbourne says is TOTALLY Oscars worthy, just made this look most stunning. A hall of fame look for Cate for sure. Many will also disagree with me putting Gwyneth Paltrow on this list. I thought that Gwynie rocked her custom Ralph & Russo one sleeved rosette sleek gown. Many did not like the rose and thought it ruined the look, but I honestly would ask them would they have preferred this gown if it was just plain baby pink dress? I don't think so. A pair of statement earrings and slicked back hair finished this look perfectly. I will say the biggest wow and shock of the night was how much I actually LOVED what Rosamund Pike wore on the red carpet. After a series of refinding her red carpet footing and slowly getting better and better Rosamund gave me a perfect look. This custom red Givenchy Couture lace gown that Rosamund paired with simple red sandals, a pair of dainty simple Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, fresh makeup and a swept back bun. There is simply not a single thing about Rosamunds look that I would have changed.
A red head in sapphire. Jessica Chastain knew the way to my heart. I absolutely adore Jessica in her custom Givenchy sapphire gown with just a hint of sparkle and leg. This is what I am talking about. I absolutely love this woman. She has her self one of the best stylists in the world (the same woman who dresses Cate Blanchett) and she knows how to work a red carpet. Another big shock of the night was seeing Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo really go for it wearing her stunning Armani Prive Fall 2014 Couture strapless black and red peplum gown. I don't think I have ever see Behati look so chic, her and hubby Adam Levine of Maroon 5 were definitely my Best Dressed Couple. Taking a risk and adding that black diamond ball necklace and kept the rest of the styling sexy and vampy. She oozed sexy glamour and provided the perfect arm candy. Jennifer Lopez brought feminine sexy glamour to the Oscars red carpet in one of the nights biggest dresses from the Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture collection. I loved that as she decided to go big or go home that Jennifer decided to wear a champagne colored ball gown. I am really excited that this gown finally got worn for a red carpet event and really what better platform for this gown than the Academy Awards?
I had my doubts about what Marion Cotillard was going to wear. I was betting on custom or that she would break the norm and wear one of the tea length gowns from the Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture collection. She instead went to last springs runway selecting this sequined perforated detail white Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture gown that features a beautiful bustle detail in the back. Many were not sure what to make of this as they saw an unflattering view of this from the back as their first impression. I immediately loved this. Who else could have taken this avant garde gown and rocked it with such elegance grace and sophistication? Emma Stone finally broke the colorless spell that she has been stuck in wearing a custom chartreuse green Elie Saab Couture fully beaded gown with a split to there and long sleeves. She really gave me modern old Hollywood with the stunning gown, matching shoes, and vintage glam beauty look. Last but not least is Reese Witherspoon in custom Tom Ford. Everyone had their money on Julianne Moore wearing a custom Tom Ford gown, but the honor went to Reese who more than did the designer justice. This is another look at taking the idea of old Hollywood and making it a modern statement. Everything about this look feels classic but still very very fresh.

Last night was a very well dressed red carpet, of course there were a few disasters and some that really let me down but all in all it was an awesome night on the red carpet. All of the looks from the red carpet are on the blogs Facebook page and I am working on uploading pictures from all of the parties (as pictures are STILL coming in), so make sure that you head over there and check them all out! Who was your best dressed? Worst dressed?

2015 Academy Awards: Best Actress Nominees Wish List

Before I officially delve into the 2015 Academy Awards I would just like to take a moment and acknowledge that this is the 1,000th post on If I Was A Stylist. This comes right off of reaching 100,000 page views just last week! So I just wanna say thank you once again for helping me keep this blog going! And without further ado ladies and gentlemen I bring you the start of the wish lists for the 2015 Academy Awards, which take place in Hollywood on February 22. We have been continuing to fall in love with Felicity Jones all through awards season. From her Dior gowns at the Golden Globes and the BAFTA Awards and her Balenciaga at the SAG Awards, each look has personified glamour, sophistication and elegance. While I figure that a custom Christian Dior gown is in the future for Mrs Jones, as is a contract to be a spokesmodel for the house, I am going to pick a runway look for Felicity to wear for the Oscars. I love this Ralph & Russo Spring 2015 Couture high low ball gown covered in subtle embellishments and embroidery. This gown fits that elegant vintage glamour that Felicity loves to showcase on the red carpet. A pair of gold metallic pumps, vintage Van Cleef & Arpels diamond earrings, a chic up do and a bright yet soft pink lip would finish off this look perfectly for the actress nominated for her film "The Theory of Everything."
Julianne Moore is the one to beat thanks to her performance in "Still Alice." Having stunning in Givenchy Couture at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards and giving sexy its name in Tom Ford at the BAFTA Awards, I am really excited to see what Julianne wears on Oscar night. My main guess will be that her pal Karl Lagerfeld will custom make something from Chanel. I went back to the Chanel Fall 2014 Couture for my runway wish for Julianne. I absolutely love this feather and crystal embellished Chanel Fall 2014 Couture strapless bell shaped gown, but it needs some work to be red carpet read for Julianne to wear for the Oscars. First while I love the bell shape it would not look good on Julianne. Turning this gown into a column gown would make it much more red carpet ready and the feathers on the bodice would need to be trimmed down to accommodate for Julianne's petite frame. If Karl would make these adjustments for Julianne this would be a showstopping moment for the woman most likely to take home the naked gold man. Finish the look with an updo, something that Julianne has not done for a major awards show this season, a red lip, simple cluster earrings and a pair of very simple black sandals would finish off the look perfectly for Julianne.
Marion Cotillard is the surprise nominee at this years Academy Awards. I don't think even she expected the nomination. I say this because she wore the only Oscar worthy gown that was left from Christian Dior for the Critics Choice Movie Awards last month. Last year I started to doubt the partnership of Marion and Dior, but the start of this year has seen Marion back to her best. I think that this re-found confidence, and loads of risks, means that Marion is definitely one to keep our eyes on for Oscar night. After looking at the Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture I was left with two options, either Marion would take a HUGE risk for her Oscar gown or Raf Simons will be custom making something for Marion. I am hoping for the risk. While a blue lace strapless tea length gown with a full skirt is far from a conceptual risk it is a huge risk for the Oscars red carpet where floor length is an unspoken requirement for any of the ladies nominated for their acting (unless your under the age of 18). Finished with a pair of sparkling silver pumps, a red lip and chic vintage inspired hairstyle Marion will have an ensemble that will be the biggest statement at the Academy Awards.
With silver Calvin Klein at the Golden Globe Awards, white Giorgio Armani at the SAG Awards, and then purple Stella McCartney at the BAFTA Awards I still haven't had a WOW moment from Reese Witherspoon on the red carpet this awards season. I am praying that when the "Wild" star steps out for the Academy Awards that she really pulls out all the stops. This salmon pink Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture ballgown with oversized crystal embellishments would be a statement for Reese. This gown is soft and classically pretty yet bold enough for a woman nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Reese would HAVE to put her hair up in sleek low bun with this dress, she has been favoring leaving her long locks flowing but I am praying for her to put a little more effort into her hair for the Oscars. A clean barely there makeup palette, simple earrings, and a pair of gold peep toe pumps would just round out this Oscar worthy look for Reese.
The red carpet paved road to the Oscars has been quite rocky for "Gone Girl" star Rosamund Pike. It started off with a white Vera Wang at the Golden Globe Awards which really did nothing for her, followed by an avant garde Christian Dior Couture trapeze dress at the SAG Awards that was okay but again didn't really do anything for her, and then a black Roland Mouret gown at the BAFTA Awards that was perfect in every way but made me lust for her to wear color. I am hoping that Rosamund really gives me something to talk about, in a good way, at the culmination of this journey: the Oscars. I picked this Marchesa Pre-Fall 2015 ink blue cap sleeve sequin mermaid inspired gown with scalloped lace embellishment and a plunging v-neckline. I think that this is a modern way to nod at old Hollywood glamour. The silhouette screams silver screen siren while the textile makes it modern (with the lace adding a bit of vintage love). Barely there inspired makeup, her hair styled in a sleek straight bob, silver sandals, a diamond bracelet and a pair of dazzling diamond earrings will ensure that Rosamund really wow's me on the Oscars red carpet.

2015 BAFTA Awards: Keira, Margot, Reese, Rosamund, & Shailene Wish List

I am hoping that when Keira Knightley, who was shockingly absent from the Academy Award Nominees Luncheon on Monday, takes to the red carpet on Sunday for the BAFTA Awards that she finally hits a red carpet stride that covers her baby bump in a glamorous way. The moment that I saw this Andrew Gn Pre-Fall 2015 gown. The beading on the top of this gown would give me something interesting to look at in the sack-ish style dress that the Best Supporting Actress nominee is bound to wear. Hair styled in a chic up-do, a soft lip, a gold clutch, and a pair of gold sandals are exactly what is needed for this stunning red carpet maternity look for Keira.
I was all excited at the beginning of last year because I thought a had found a new girl crush in Margot Robbie, then she let me down. Hard. I am hoping that the EE Rising Star Award nominee will bring me back to the time where my jaw dropped at the sight of her. This silver crystal embellished Stephane Rolland Spring 2015 Couture top paired with a white skirt with a very dramatic train is the direction that I would love to see Margot rock on the BAFTA Awards red carpet on Sunday. The actresses blonde locks swept into Veronica Lake waves, along with a bold red lip and a pair of silver sandals would ensure that Margot gets back in my good graces and back on Best Dressed lists.
Color. Still the one thing that I am missing from Reese Witherspoon this awards season. I am still holding out hope that she will wear the Antonio Berardi gown that I so desperately wanted to see her wear for the Golden Globe Awards, but I am going to move past wishing for it again. Sticking to the same soft pink palette I picked this Delpozo Spring 2015 RTW (Not Couture) double sided silk twill gown that features a floral embellished bib at the front, a geometric construction around the waist, an exposed tulle underlay and full train at the back. I love that stars are embracing the avant garde Spanish designer for their red carpet dressing. Old Hollywood waves thrown over one shoulder, a pink lip, and nude sandals would ensure that all eyes are on Reese at the BAFTA Awards.
Rosamund Pike has not lived up to the expectations that I had set for her this awards season. I am hoping that on her home turf that the Best Leading Actress nominee with be on point again. When I was flipping through the Christopher Kane Pre-Fall 2015 lookbook and I came to this stunning art nouveau lace bodice gown with a pleated tulle skirt, my heart started to flutter. The gown features a semi-sheer bodice with allover Art Nouveau patches, bonded with leather, vinyl, bright and metallic accents, and a floor-length pleated tulle skirt. This gown is elegant and effortless while being extremely fashion forward and avant garde. Rosamund would look lovely in this gown with a sleek bob (a la the Golden Globes), a pink clutch, and a pair of gold sandals would finish off this look perfectly for the BAFTA's red carpet.
Finally we have the final wish for the 2015 BAFTAs. Shailene Woodley is nominated for the EE Rising Star Award and I am slightly interested in what it is that she will wear. With a big promo tour for "Insurgent" coming up, the sequel to the hit "Divergent," I am sure that Shai will be on top form. This Prabal Gururng Pre-Fall 2015 ensemble is exactly what I picture Shailene in for the BAFTA Awards. Consisting of a black floral embroidered strapless gown worn under a black and red embroidered silk crop top this look screams the laid back style that Shailene puts off on the red carpets. Paired with a pair of black sandals and a red lip I think that Shailene would have a best dressed look on her hands at the BAFTA Awards.

2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards: Female Actor in a Lead Role in a Movie Nominee Wish List

First off I would like to congratulate all of this years Academy Awards nominees, whom were announced this morning. I will be doing all those red carpet wish lists next month. Now to my wishes for the Screen Actors Guild Awards next Sunday night. Felicity Jones is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role and is part of the nominated ensemble for "The Theory of Everything." I have to say that Felicity has really lived up to being one of my "Ones to Watch in both 2011 and 2014. This year she has just consistently given me absolutely amazing red carpet ensembles and I am looking forward to her taking this run all the way through the Academy Awards. The SAG Awards are one where Felicity can get away with wearing a shorter length and I think that this black Chanel Pre-Fall 2015 tea length dress with satin straps and a satin bow waistband with a crystal buckle. I think that this vintage inspired ensemble is perfect for the red carpet for Felicity. Finish the look with a 60's inspired bouffant, a red lip, and a pair of Manolo Blahnik 'Hangisi' black satin pumps to ensure that the vintage look is on full display.
*Shocker Alert* Jennifer Aniston wore BLACK to the Golden Globe Awards.......oh, wait. That is actually not a shock. I will say that I was shocked that she styled her hair and put on more makeup than normal. I do not see Jennifer straying away from her favored red carpet color when she takes to the red carpet at the 2015 SAG Awards next Sunday as a nominee for "Cake." I picked this Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2015 lace covered ball gown with a v-neck and belly cut out. If anyone can make a midsection cut out rock at almost 46 it would be Jennifer. The silhouette and the daringness of this gown are what would make this a shocking red carpet moment. Finish the look with a pair of Christian Louboutin 'Valnina' ankle strap sandals, another updo, and simple, (but still there) makeup and Jennifer will do another service to basic black on the red carpet.
I've been saying all awards season which designers that we will see Julianne Moore wear. She has already ticked the Givenchy box at the Golden Globe Awards and an wish for her to wear Chanel for the Critics Choice Awards tonight, I am going with Tom Ford for Julianne to wear for the Screen Actors Guild Awards next Sunday. Voted most likely to take home the bronze actor statue I am sure that Julianne will make this a major red carpet moment, as she normally does. I picked this pale blush pink Tom Ford Resort 2015 draped gown with black floral print an ribbon embellishments because it is different yet still a elegant enough for the SAG red carpet. The color against her skin color would make this an amazing red carpet moment. Hair pulled back and a red lip are the perfect beauty touches to compliment this gown. I would make this a Tom Ford look head to toe by adding a black and gold Tom Ford 'Natasha' anaconda skin minaudiere and Tom Ford black calfskin strappy sandals with a gold padlock. This would ensure that Julianne is on the top of the best dressed lists yet again.
Reese Witherspoon has been favoring the fitted silhouette as of late so I am hoping that at the Screen Actors Guild Awards next Sunday that Reese kills the red carpet in a new silhouette. I dug into the Christian Dior couture archives to pull this amazing tea length Spring 2013 Couture strapless gown in navy and powder blue. I think that his dress is the classic look that Reese always look so beautiful wearing. A chic updo, a bold red lip, Gianvito Rossi white lamb leather plexi pumps, and some dazzling diamonds will finish this look off perfectly for the red carpet at the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
And to round out the Outstanding Female Actor in a Movie nominees is Rosamund Pike who garners her nomination thanks to the hit film "Gone Girl." It was a breath of fresh air to see Rosamund wear something other than a trapeze dress at the Golden Globe Awards. Her white Vera Wang cutout gown didn't win any awards with fashion critics, but I thought that it was a step in the right direction. For the SAG Awards I would love to see Rosamund wear this Gucci Pre-Fall 2015 floral gown with butterfly cape sleeves and a low plunge. I would pair this look with an Edie Parker 'Jean' nude and white pearlesant striped clutch, a pair of Gucci 'Mallory' gold crystal embellished nude suede sandals, and a pair of Bulgari earrings inlaid in yellow gold to ensure that Rosamund has a winning red carpet moment. A wavy bob and a red lip would finish this look in a vintage way which is a type of look we have yet to see from Rosamund and I think she would look absolutely amazing in this type of ensemble especially on the SAG Awards red carpet.

I will be live tweeting the Critics Choice Movie Awards tonight. 2015 Critics Choice Awards Wish List Part 3

When Keira Knightley stepped out in her custom Chanel butterfly gown at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, which personally made me think of Little House on the Prairie, the fashion industry gave a collective sigh. I had very high hopes for Keira and she really let me down. I am hoping that Thursday night at the Critics Choice Movie Awards, where she is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for "The Imitation Game" and Best Original Song for "Lost Stars" from "Begin Again," that Keira redeems herself in her red carpet dressing. I understand that dressing a burgeoning baby bump is difficult but many before her have worked the bump on a red carpet with great abandon. I am hoping that Keira reverts back to Michael Van Der Ham Spring 2015 RTW for this red carpet. Having worn a few looks from this collection during the promo tour for "The Imitation Game" last year I think that this is a huge possibility. This navy gown with an asymmetric neckline and 3-D embroidery would drape ever so elegantly over Keira's baby bump. Finish the look with a soft up do, a red lip, navy Chanel clutch, and a pair of navy pumps will give Keira the red carpet look that puts her back on the top of best dressed lists.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Rosamund pike give a new silhouette at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night. Her custom Vera Wang gown boasted many cut-out sections which showed off her post baby body, like seriously is she human? She just had a baby 5 weeks ago. I am hoping that she continues to show off her banging body at Thursday nights Critics Choice Movie Awards, where she is hoping to take home the Best Actress award for her work in "Gone Girl." This eggplant Azzaro Fall 2015 Couture figure hugging gown with an asymmetric neckline and strategically placed embellished cutouts on the bodice. I was a little weary, and totally ready to change this wish, about picking such a figure hugging gown but after Sunday nights look I know that Rosamund is red carpet ready. Finish the look with a black Edie Parker clutch, black Stuart Weitzman 'Nudist' sandals, simple diamond earrings, and her asymmetrical bob worn straight down Rosamund would really give me a wow moment on the red carpet.
I was not a huge fan of "Neighbors" but the Broadcast Film Critics Association has given Rose Byrne a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy at Thursday nights Critics Choice Movie Awards thanks to her work in the film. I have to say that I am excited to see what Rose will wear on the red carpet. I have always been a fan of Rose and I love what she brings to the red carpet. The moment I saw this Jenny Packham Pre-Fall 2015 cinnamon scoop neck gown that is completely beaded from top to bottom. I think that this amazing gown would look so elegant on Rose as it is classic silhouette. Finish the look with a gold box clutch, a pair of gold sandals, and a dazzling pair of diamond earrings inlaid in yellow gold, a chic low bun, and a soft pink lip to make sure that Rose holds her own on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet Thursday evening.
Shailene Woodley is nominated for Best Actress in an Action Movie for "Divergent." I have to say I am excited to see what Shai will wear on the red carpet on Thursday night. Last year we saw Shailene work the red carpet in a bevy of fabulous looks looking the best she has ever had, in major part to her new stylist Ilaria Urbinati who works with Nina Dobrev and Bradley Cooper as well. I think that this red Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2015 short sleeve gown rendered in red silk double georgette and features a high round neck, cutwork at the bodice trimmed with tonal embroidery and a floor length fluted skirt with a train would be an amazing look for Shailene for this red carpet. I think the sleek sport silhouettes that hold just a touch of girly glam are the perfect looks for Shailene and her personality. Finish the look with hair pulled up neutral makeup and red Stuart Weitzman 'Nudist' sandals will make sure that the gown is the star of the show which it should be.
Last but not least we have a wish for androgynous beauty Tilda Swinton to wear for the Critics Choice Movie Awards, where she has a nomination for Best Supporting Actress thanks to "Snowpiercer." I love to see Tilda on the red carpet because you never know what she is going to be wearing and usually I love what she is brings to the carpets. The moment I saw this Valentino Fall 2014 Couture ensemble which consists of a white asymmetric tunic top and uber wide leg black pants I have been begging for Tilda to pick it up. I think that this fits the masculine meets feminine style that Tilda loves so much for the red carpet. Finish the look with a pair of the runways sandals or a pair of black pumps and this would be a perfect look for the Critics Choice Movie Awards.

Me and Kelly from Dream In Lace had so much fun Sunday night live tweeting the Golden Globe Awards, that we are going to do it all over again Thursday for the Critics Choice Movie Awards. Please join me (@FutureStylist93) and Kelly (@DreamInLace) at about 9 PM EST for all kinds of fashion ID's and LOTS of snarky commentary.

2015 Golden Globe Awards: Lorde, Meryl, Reese, & Rosamund Wish List

The eccentric Australian indie pop star Lorde is nominated for Best Original Song, Motion Picture for her hit song "Yellow Flicker Beat" from "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" at the Golden Globe Awards this coming Sunday. I am excited to see what the awkward red carpet star will wear for her big night amongst the film and television elite. Having established a relationship with Karl Lagerfeld and the House of Chanel, I could find no better option for her to wear than this grey Chanel Fall 2014 Couture tea length gown which features an embellished crop top that is embellished with crystals and cement beads. I think that this hard meets soft off the wall look would make for a perfect red carpet look for Lorde. I would pair the look with the runways concrete embellished flat sandals, her hair in its natural curly manner, and purple lipstick to make this a perfect look for the young singer for her first Movie/TV awards show.
What would awards season be without a nomination for the goddess Meryl Streep? This would definitely come as a shock, and thankfully we are not going to find out just yet. The iconic actress is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role as the witch in "Into The Woods." I recently saw this film and Meryl was absolutely fabulous but I do not believe that this role will give her the Globe but every actress in the category is absolutely amazing. For the event I would love to see Meryl wear this navy blue Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2015 floral bouquet silk faille off the shoulder ball gown with an overlapping fold-over detail at the neckline with a fitted bodice, long sleeves, and a full ball skirt with a vibrant floral print. I saw this gown in the lookbook and immediately put this gown on reserve for Meryl for awards season in my mind. Finish the look with a chic up do, red lip, gold sandals, and a red clutch to ensure that Meryl looks absolutely amazing on the Golden Globes red carpet this coming Sunday night.
"Wild" has earned Reese Witherspoon a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama and I really can not wait to see what she will wear on the red carpet come Sunday night. During her promo tour for this film, which included the Toronto International Film Festival and London Film Festival, Reese wore black almost exclusively. She also wore black and white to the unofficial awards season kick off, so I am hoping and praying for color at the Golden Globe Awards. This is why I picked this pale pink Antonio Berardi Spring 2015 RTW sleeveless silk organza gown that features a fully embroidered attached cape. This is a simple gown from the front but definitely has a dramatic back. A pair of light gold Jimmy Choo 'Vamp' platform sandals, a light pink Edie Parker 'Lara' clutch, some Van Cleef & Arpels Pierres de Caractère Precious Light earrings, and a vintage Van Cleef & Arpels gold and diamond chain link bracelet would be the perfect accessories to compliment this ensemble. Finish the look with an old Hollywood up-do, simple eye makeup, and a red lip so that it will be sure that Reese has the perfect red carpet moment.
Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama nominee for "Gone Girl" Rosamund Pike has always been a favorite on the red carpet and since she just gave birth a few short weeks ago it will be interesting to see what she will bring to the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards this Sunday. At the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala Rosamund wore a trapeze dress that did not show any of her post baby body. I am hoping that she shows it off come Sunday night. This light to dark red ombre Elie Saab Fall 2015 Couture chiffon gown with a deep v-neckline would be an AMAZING red carpet moment. I would imagine that with the right shapewear and corsetry that any lingering problem areas would be relatively hidden and all that would be left would be Rosamund looking like she is ready to take home a Globe. Accessorize the look with the matching Elie Saab runway clutch, a pair of red sandals, a pair of diamond chandelier earrings, and a diamond bracelet to ensure that the gown is allowed to sing. A red lip, simple bun, and her fabulous smile are the last perfect finishing touches to ensure that all eyes will be on her.

If you want to join the conversation I will be joining Kelly from Dream In Lace with a live Twitter commentary on what all the stars are wearing. So please join me (@FutureStylist93) and Kelly (@DreamInLace) at about 5 PM EST for all kinds of fashion ID's and LOTS of snarky commentary.

2015 Palm Springs Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala

The unofficial kickoff of the 2015 Awards Season is the Palm Springs Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala on January 3, 2015. Not actually honoring any of the films competing in the film festival the awards gala honors some of the best performances and films that came out of 2014. Julianne Moore, the Golden Globe and Oscar hopeful for "Still Alice," will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award. Julianne always brings a WOW factor to the red carpet, usually choosing avant garde options for her appearances. I am choosing this Nina Ricci Spring 2015 RTW natural embroidered laser cut sleeveless beaded radzimir gown that features a high convex neckline, flat over-the-shoulder straps and a tonal sheer georgette draped skirt with a stepped hem. This is a wow moment and I think that the black would look anything but basic on Julianne. A pair of black sandals, an Edie Parker "Fiona" faceted clutch in emerald with black details, a pair of emerald cluster Bulgari earrings would be the perfect accessories for this ensemble. Finished off with Julianne's sleek red locks in a high pony tail and a red lip will finish off this look perfectly for the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala.
Keira Knightley has been rocking the red carpet hiding her baby bump the past few months. With the cast of her film "The Imitation Game" receiving the Ensemble Performance Award, it will be interesting to see what Keira will show up on the red carpet wearing.  I think that Keira will continue to conceal her burgeoning bump until at least the Golden Globe Awards the following weekend. I would love to see Keira wear this stunning Delpozo Spring 2015 RTW pale pink silk twill tea length cocktail dress that features a high round neck, exaggerated rosettes with sequin embellishments at the bodice, and a sheer tonal tea-length skirt. The pale pink color is one that Keira always looks so elegant and ethereal wearing and this ethereal avant garde design is perfect for this occasion. Finish the look with a pair of gold sandals a simple updo and a pink lip and Keira will have a perfect red carpet ensemble on her hands for the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala.
Reese Witherspoon's campaign for an Academy Award begins January 3, 2015 at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala, where the stunning blonde is going to be honored with the Chairman's Award for her film "Wild." Reese does classic elegance with a hint of modern woman like no other. As one of the few that I think would bust out some couture for this event I would love to see Reese wear this ruby red Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture strapless embellished silk flared cocktail dress for the event. This dress is classic and elegant with a hint of sultry which just makes for a perfect combination for the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala. A pair of dyed to match Stuart Weitzman 'Nudist' sandals and a simple pair of diamond and ruby cluster earrings would be the perfect accessories to add, along with a red lip, to complete this ensemble.
The Palm Springs Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala will most likely be the first time that we will see Rosamund Pike on the red carpet after the birth of her baby boy earlier this month. The British star will have had a month to get herself red carpet ready in time to receive the Breakthrough Performance Award at the awards gala. I picked this ivory J. Mendel Spring 2015 organza jacquard v-neck gown because of the cross-draped silk chiffon bodice with butterfly sleeves as if she is not ready to completely showcase her body in a form fitting dress this can hide some of her possible problem areas. An ivory Edie Parker clutch and a pair of gold sandals will ensure that all eyes are on Rosamund who will no doubt have that new mommy glow about her already.

2014 Rome Film Festival: "Gone Girl" Photocall & Premiere Wish List

A pregnant Rosamund Pike has been traveling the world doing the song and dance to promote her latest thriller, "Gone Girl." The film has been picking up quite a bit of Oscar buzz including one for a  possible Best Actress nomination for Rosamund. This periwinkle blue Valentino Fall 2014 Couture tulle gown with an asymmetrical neckline would look so pretty on Rosamund. The way the gown is draped just under the bust would give the perfect platform for the rest of gown to drape over Mrs Pike's growing baby bump. A simple pair of silver satin peep toe Salvatore Ferragamo pumps, a simple up-do, fresh faced makeup, and simple diamond jewels will finish what could possibly be Rosamund's best red carpet moment in her pregnancy thus far.

2014 Toronto International Film Festival Wish List Part 3

The fall will show the return of Elizabeth Banks on the red carpet. As one of my favorite red carpet stars I can not wait for her to bring her sense of style back onto my computer screen. Headed to the Toronto International Film Festival to premiere her film "Love & Mercy" I am really praying that the best unofficial brand ambassador for Versace will grab up this electric blue one shoulder jumpsuit from the Atelier Versace Fall 2014 Couture collection. What I love so much about EBanks is that she can work edgy ensembles just as easy as she does the floating ladylike sophisticated styles. This is definitely an edgy look but I think that TIFF is a perfect platform for this ensemble to be worn. A pair of black sandals, hair styled into a a sleek pony, and some simple makeup would finish this ensemble off perfectly for the "Love & Mercy" TIFF premiere.
After being seated front row at the Christian Dior Fall 2014 Couture presentation it would not surprise me if Rosamund Pike chooses a look from the collection for her TIFF premiere of "Hector and the Search for Happiness." Rosamund is gearing up to start a few long months of doing the promotional song and dance as he has a few films coming out, one of which is gaining some serious Oscar buzz. With all that in mind I would love for her to start on a sweet note wearing this baby pink Christian Dior Fall 2014 Couture cocktail dress. This dress gives a very 1950's housewife vibe to me by way of Raf Simons modernism and I think that Rose would look absolutely stunning. I would change the waist band to just be a sold silver metal belt, and add a pair of silver embellished pumps to accessorize this look perfectly. A vintage inspired hairstyle and a red lip would just be the ideal finishing touches for this TIFF premiere ensemble.
Toni Collette is not one of my favorite ladies to see take to the red carpet, as she usually leaves me felling uninspired, but none the less she will most likely stand next to Rosamund Pike to promote their film "Hector and the Search for Happiness" at the Toronto International Film Festival. Having worn Sally LaPointe twice this year while promoting films I was inspired to put Toni in this black Sally LaPointe Fall 2014 RTW black silk gown with a trapeze blouse. I saw this gown walk during New York Fashion Week back in February and it just hugs the body and would look so sleek and sophisticated on Toni for this TIFF premiere. I would slick Toni's hair back into a sleek pony tail and give her a red lip as the beauty styling for this ensemble. Accessorized with a black clutch and black pumps Toni would have her best look of the year in a very simple sleek way.
Jessica Chastain will be at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival to premiere her film "Miss Julie." Jessica has 3 films listed on the Indiewire 2015 Oscar Predictions that could earn her a Best Actress nomination. Out of 22 names on this list Chastain has all of her films ranked in the top 10. Needless to say Mrs Chastain will also be starting her Academy Awards song and dance at TIFF. For her "Miss Julie" premiere  I would love to see Jessica give me something a little different, since she has the new bangs and all, and this Valentino Fall 2014 Couture embellished tulle cocktail dress would definitely do that. I would figure that Jessica would have the dress semi lined so that it was not quite as sheer as it is on the runway, but I personally would leave it as it is. Finish the look with a pair of metallic navy sandals and a red lip and Jessica will wow me like she normally does on the red carpet for the TIFF premiere of "Miss Julie."
