2016 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 10

This is the first Oscars in recent years where Jessica Chastain won't be on the main stage red carpet as either a nominee or presenter so I will be intrigued to see if she will step out for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. If she does I would love to see Jessica step out in this navy Schiaparelli Spring 2016 Couture asymmetrical organza gown gown. I do have the slightest reservations that these organza Schiaparelli Spring 2016 Couture gowns will all end up like the disastrous look that January Jones wore for the SAG Awards, but I believe that this gown on Jessica would look simply elegant. I think a chic simple pulled back hairstyle, diamond drop earrings, and a pair of navy peep toe pumps would be the perfect styling to ensure that Jessica has a beautiful moment on the Vanity Fair red carpet.
If Marion Cotillard steps out on the Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpet there is a big question one must ask, will she wear Dior? Marion usually saves Dior for her big red carpet appearances and I wonder that since she isn't nominated or presenting at the Oscars if she would continue to shun Dior on the Vanity Fair red carpet. I am hoping that is the case and the French beauty selects this white Ralph & Russo Spring 2016 Couture fitted cocktail dress with floral embroidered voluminous sleeves. I tend to enjoy Marion's more avant garde fashion choices and this is definitely a very chic avant garde style. Marion wears clothes so well that I am hoping that she gets her hands on this stunning creation. Keeping the styling simple with a pair of silver Christian Dior pumps and a pair of Dior Fine Jewelry drop earrings (so she can still represent her brand on the red carpet) as well as a chic updo and a red lip would ensure that Marion is a bright star on the Vanity Fair red carpet.
Naomi Watts is one that either looks incredibly perfect for is a little to disheveled for my taste. I am hoping that if Naomi steps out on Oscar night that she is as glamorous as ever. I would love to see Naomi walk the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party wearing this amazing mauve Armani Prive Spring 2016 Couture tiered crystal embroidered dress, which gives distinct flapper vibes. I think that this classically pretty dress would be the most amazing choice for Naomi to make as when she wears Armani she almost always shuts the red carpet down. A navy satin clutch, simple silver sandals, diamond drop earrings, & classic beauty would ensure that Naomi has the perfect red carpet moment.
Last year Solange Knowles was out on Oscar night and there wasn't a single look of hers that I actually liked seeing her wearing. I am usually such a hug fan of Solange's style so it was a big shocked that I didn't like either of her red carpet looks at last years Oscars and Vanity Fair Party. I think for next Sunday's Vanity Fair party I would love to see Solange wearing this amazing Christian Dior Spring 2016 Couture ensemble which includes a yellow flamenco ruffle long sleeve cold shoulder embroidered blouse and black and white fitted embroidered pants. Solange is one of the few women who I would love to see wearing pants on Oscar night and this is perfect. A pair of simple black pumps and her signature afro would finish this look perfectly for Solange.
Zendaya is another star who I am sure we will see on Oscar night as she also has never met a red carpet that she didn't like. The focus of Zendaya last year was all about her dreadlocks, and at the Grammy's it was all about her mullet. I am hoping that if she steps out on Oscar night it is about how fabulous she looks. I would love to see Zendaya wearing this purple Haney Fall 2016 RTW sexy cutout gown with a jeweled halter. I get some major Cavalli vibes form this look and I think it is the perfect style look for the music star on the Vanity Fair red carpet. A gold clutch, a pair of gold sandals, with her knew blonde bowl cut and a smokey eye would be the perfect finishing touches for this look, and for Zendaya on the Vanity Fair red carpet.

2015 AFI Fest: "Macbeth" Premiere Wish List

Marion Cotillard is either killing it on the red carpet or she is a hot mess. I am hoping that with Raf Simons stepping down as the creative director of Dior that Marion will return to the woman that I fell in love with all those years ago. For the AFI Fest premiere of "Macbeth" I picked this ultra chic and modern Christian Dior Fall 2015 Couture white long sleeved dress with chainmail overlay. I believe that this can be the moment that Marion needs to start her road to red carpet recovery and continually give major red carpet moments instead of making me wish for more. Finish the look with a pair of silver Jimmy Choo sandals, a white Dior clutch, sleek pulled back hair and a red lip to ensure that this look shines bright like the modern statement it is.

2015 Hamptons International Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Amber Heard is slowly getting back into my good graces mixing her new found love of all things bohemian and her old sultry style. I am hoping that she will be on hand at the premiere of "When I Live My Life Over Again" today and that she continues to wow me. I would love to see Amber wear this acid green Maison Margiela Spring 2016 RTW pant suit. I would button the jacket and have Amber go shirtless to add a bit of sex appeal to the look. Finish with a pair of gold pumps, a red lip, and loose beachy waves and I think this would be another Amber Heard look that I could get on board with, but then again the color could make it a complete disaster. I'm hopeful though.
"Macbeth" is gaining a lot of attention and I am excited to see if Marion Cotillard will show up for the film's premiere since it is one of the Spotlight films of the festival. Hampton's International Film Festival is not one were we see much couture but if anyone is gonna bring it, it's gonna be Marion. I hated the Christian Dior Spring 2016 RTW collection so I am hoping that Marion can weasel her way out of wearing it, as she is a face of Dior I have little hope for that, but show up at the premiere wearing this orange Christian Dior Spring 2015 (in photo editing there was a typo it is 2015 not 2016) Couture tangerine dress that features side cutouts and a full skirt. Finish the look with chic waves, fresh faced makeup, and silver pumps and Marion is sure to wow HIFF.
Last but not lease for my HIFF wishes I have a wish for Olivia Wilde who could make an appperance to promote spolight film "Meadowland." Olivia was front row at the Michael Kors Spring 2016 RTW presentation during New York Fashion Week and there were many looks from the collection that I can picture the actress wearing. I picked this royal blue 3-D floral embroidered spaghetti strap dress because for the laid back atmosphere at HIFF I think it is the perfect choice. A low bun, navy sandals and fresh faced makeup will ensure that Olivia rocks the red carpet.

#Cannes2015: amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

Kylie Minogue is a regular at the Cannes Film Festival and the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala. A huge supporter of AIDS charities, I love to see Kylie on the red carpet. For this years amfAR Gala on Thursday I would love to see Kylie wear this fire ombre Roberto Cavalli Fall 2015 RTW cutout gown. Sadly with the transition from the Cavalli era to the Dundas for Cavalli era there has been a noticeable absence of Cavalli on the red carpets. Not one look during the course of the festival has come from Cavalli and we are long over due. I think that Kylie would rock this gown making it look sexy yet still elegant. Some black sandals and simple earrings would finish this look off perfectly.
Since Marion Cotillard is going to most likely wear Dior for her two big premieres during the Cannes Film Festival this week it looks like the reigns have been loosened. Marion gave us 70s disco wearing Balmain at the Chopard Trophy party and I am praying that she will be able to work another brand again for the amfAR Gala. I would love to see Marion wear this amazing red Givenchy Fall 2015 RTW caped embellished gown that evokes the spirit of the Spanish matador by way of a 40's screen siren. Of everything from the Fall 2015 RTW season this is the gown that I am most looking forward to seeing on the red carpet and I am waiting with bated breath for it to turn up. Finished with a classic updo, lined eyes, a red lip, a matching red clutch, diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of black sandals and Marion would definitely be one of my favorites at amfAR.
Naomi Watts has been around Cannes since the Opening Ceremony this year. She spent the first two days on the carpet as a L'Oreal Paris brand ambassador, then spent a day promoting Bulgari and their new boutique in Cannes, and on Saturday premiered her film "The Sea of Trees." If Naomi decides to stick around for the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala I would love to see Naomi wear this Armani Prive Spring 2015 Couture spaghetti strap gown with a plunging neckline side cutouts and column skirt. The only problem with the possibility of Naomi wearing this gown is that she wore another gown from this collection for the "The Sea of Trees" premiere two days ago. A black clutch, a pair of black sandals, a simple pair of Bulgari diamond earrings, old Hollywood waves, and a red lip would finish this look off perfectly for the amfAR red carpet.
Natalie Portman is one of the hostesses of this years amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala and I am uber excited to see what she is going to bring to the red carpet. So far the stunning actress has given us three different looks during this years Cannes Film Festival: 1) sleek, sexy, modern and red in custom Christian Dior Couture at the Opening Ceremony, 2) classic Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture blue floral for the "A Tale of Love and Darkness" premiere, and 3) avant garde Rodarte Fall 2015 RTW at the "A Tale of Love and Darkness" photocall. For the amfAR Gala I would love to see Natalie wear this orange Christian Dior Spring 2015 tea length gown. This gown mixes classic elegance with sleek modernity and I think that Natalie would look stunning in this dress. Finished with a pair of silver sandals and some diamond cluster earrings and this look will continue my love affair with everything that Natalie wears.

#Cannes2015: "The Little Prince" Premiere Wish List

Marion Cotillard is always a fixture in Cannes and I am sure that she will wow me with at least one of her red carpet moments during this festival. "The Little Prince" is the other film that Marion will be promoting at the famed film festival. I would love to see Marion rock this yellow Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture cocktail dress that features stunning embroidery and an amazing over the top peplum. In Cannes it is not that big of a deal to wear couture during the day and Marion wears couture like no other. Finish this look with a pair of nude Christian Louboutin pumps, a fresh face of makeup, and a simple swept back hairstyle to ensure that Marion rocks her photocall. For the premiere I would love to see Marion wear this amazing blue lace Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture tea length ball gown. I love that this dress holds the foundations of Christian Dior with its silhouette and use of lace but still feels very modern all at the same time. This look with a chic updo, a red lip, diamond earrings, and a pair of blue sandals will ensure that Marion fulfills her Dior contract duties with great aplomb at the "The Little Prince" premiere.
Rachel McAdams is going to be perfection at Cannes, or at least I am praying. The last time that Rachel worked the Cannes Film Festival red carpet back in 2010 it was an amazing red carpet moment in Marchesa. This year for the Cannes Film Festival photocall of "The Little Prince" on Friday May 22, I would love to see Rachel wear this ivory and black Oscar de la Renta Fall 2015 RTW sweetheart drop waist dress rendered in a silk blend and features a floral print in a modified A-line silhouette. This is such a classic de la Renta style and I think that Rachel would look stunning in this dress for the photocall. A pair of green pumps and simple hair and makeup would just make sure that there would be an absolutely amazing photocall moment. For the premiere I would love to see Rachel change into this ruby red Zuhair Murad Fall 2014 Couture silk rouched gown with a side train that juts out and evokes old Hollywood glamour. At the end of last year Rachel wore a few looks from this collection and I would love to see her do this stunning gown justice on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Old Hollywood waves draped over one shoulder, a red lip, chandelier diamond earrings, and a pair of silver sandals would ensure that Rachel has a jaw dropping moment.

#Cannes2015: "Macbeth" Premiere Wish List

I don't think that it would be a Cannes Film Festival without Marion Cotillard and this year the stunning French beauty will be premiering not one but two films during the festival. I am sure that Marion will showcase many Christian Dior looks on the red carpet and I can't that that thrills me. For the "Macbeth" photocall and premiere, which is premiering In Competition,  I am picking only one look from Dior. The Dior look for Marion is a powder blue dress from the Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2015 dress which evokes the 1950's in a very modern way. I would strip back all of the runway styling loosing the boots and silver sequined top so that this look is chic and elegant and all about the dress. I would then pair this look with a pair of metallic electric blue Christian Dior pumps and some simple Chopard earrings to ensure that Marion is as elegant as ever. For her red carpet wardrobe change I have picked something a little more avant garde I am absolutely in love with this Antonio Berardi Fall 2015 RTW tiered duchess satin dress with leaf print jacquard inset rendered in a silk blend and features a jewel neckline with a fitted bodice in a leaf jacquard, and a flared skirt in a tiered ruffle design with an asymmetrical hem. What I love about this gown so much is that I feel like it mixes modernity and classic construction all in one stunning look, which most would be fearful of. Finish this look with a chic updo, a red lip, Chopard yellow diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of gold Christian Dior sandals, to fulfill Marion's responsibility to Dior, and this is a perfect set of looks for the Cannes Film Festival.

The Top 10 Looks from the Academy Awards

I have to say that when I first read the description of the Chanel Couture gown that Julianne Moore wore to the Academy Awards last night I was very afraid. I was waiting with bated breath for the stunning redhead to show up on the red carpet. When the actress, who won Best Actress last night, showed up I let out a HUGE sigh of relief. This white Chanel Couture gown is covered with 80,000 hand cut flower paillettes and took 27 people over 900 hours to make. Julianne really let the gown speak for itself slicking her hair back adding simple Chopard cluster earrings and a berry lip to finish off a breathtaking award winning look for the Oscar winning actress.
Many will be shocked that I put a black gown so far up my best dressed list. The reason for this is because no one could have worn this custom Maison Marigela Couture gown and made me love this more than the queen of the red carpet Cate Blanchett. While I was predicting that she would show up in Armani Prive this step to the left was just what I love about Cate. The beauty of this look was in the details. The frayed fringes and the stunning turquoise Tiffany & Co. floral bib necklace, which despite whatever Kelly Osbourne says is TOTALLY Oscars worthy, just made this look most stunning. A hall of fame look for Cate for sure. Many will also disagree with me putting Gwyneth Paltrow on this list. I thought that Gwynie rocked her custom Ralph & Russo one sleeved rosette sleek gown. Many did not like the rose and thought it ruined the look, but I honestly would ask them would they have preferred this gown if it was just plain baby pink dress? I don't think so. A pair of statement earrings and slicked back hair finished this look perfectly. I will say the biggest wow and shock of the night was how much I actually LOVED what Rosamund Pike wore on the red carpet. After a series of refinding her red carpet footing and slowly getting better and better Rosamund gave me a perfect look. This custom red Givenchy Couture lace gown that Rosamund paired with simple red sandals, a pair of dainty simple Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, fresh makeup and a swept back bun. There is simply not a single thing about Rosamunds look that I would have changed.
A red head in sapphire. Jessica Chastain knew the way to my heart. I absolutely adore Jessica in her custom Givenchy sapphire gown with just a hint of sparkle and leg. This is what I am talking about. I absolutely love this woman. She has her self one of the best stylists in the world (the same woman who dresses Cate Blanchett) and she knows how to work a red carpet. Another big shock of the night was seeing Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo really go for it wearing her stunning Armani Prive Fall 2014 Couture strapless black and red peplum gown. I don't think I have ever see Behati look so chic, her and hubby Adam Levine of Maroon 5 were definitely my Best Dressed Couple. Taking a risk and adding that black diamond ball necklace and kept the rest of the styling sexy and vampy. She oozed sexy glamour and provided the perfect arm candy. Jennifer Lopez brought feminine sexy glamour to the Oscars red carpet in one of the nights biggest dresses from the Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture collection. I loved that as she decided to go big or go home that Jennifer decided to wear a champagne colored ball gown. I am really excited that this gown finally got worn for a red carpet event and really what better platform for this gown than the Academy Awards?
I had my doubts about what Marion Cotillard was going to wear. I was betting on custom or that she would break the norm and wear one of the tea length gowns from the Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture collection. She instead went to last springs runway selecting this sequined perforated detail white Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture gown that features a beautiful bustle detail in the back. Many were not sure what to make of this as they saw an unflattering view of this from the back as their first impression. I immediately loved this. Who else could have taken this avant garde gown and rocked it with such elegance grace and sophistication? Emma Stone finally broke the colorless spell that she has been stuck in wearing a custom chartreuse green Elie Saab Couture fully beaded gown with a split to there and long sleeves. She really gave me modern old Hollywood with the stunning gown, matching shoes, and vintage glam beauty look. Last but not least is Reese Witherspoon in custom Tom Ford. Everyone had their money on Julianne Moore wearing a custom Tom Ford gown, but the honor went to Reese who more than did the designer justice. This is another look at taking the idea of old Hollywood and making it a modern statement. Everything about this look feels classic but still very very fresh.

Last night was a very well dressed red carpet, of course there were a few disasters and some that really let me down but all in all it was an awesome night on the red carpet. All of the looks from the red carpet are on the blogs Facebook page and I am working on uploading pictures from all of the parties (as pictures are STILL coming in), so make sure that you head over there and check them all out! Who was your best dressed? Worst dressed?

2015 Academy Awards: Best Actress Nominees Wish List

Before I officially delve into the 2015 Academy Awards I would just like to take a moment and acknowledge that this is the 1,000th post on If I Was A Stylist. This comes right off of reaching 100,000 page views just last week! So I just wanna say thank you once again for helping me keep this blog going! And without further ado ladies and gentlemen I bring you the start of the wish lists for the 2015 Academy Awards, which take place in Hollywood on February 22. We have been continuing to fall in love with Felicity Jones all through awards season. From her Dior gowns at the Golden Globes and the BAFTA Awards and her Balenciaga at the SAG Awards, each look has personified glamour, sophistication and elegance. While I figure that a custom Christian Dior gown is in the future for Mrs Jones, as is a contract to be a spokesmodel for the house, I am going to pick a runway look for Felicity to wear for the Oscars. I love this Ralph & Russo Spring 2015 Couture high low ball gown covered in subtle embellishments and embroidery. This gown fits that elegant vintage glamour that Felicity loves to showcase on the red carpet. A pair of gold metallic pumps, vintage Van Cleef & Arpels diamond earrings, a chic up do and a bright yet soft pink lip would finish off this look perfectly for the actress nominated for her film "The Theory of Everything."
Julianne Moore is the one to beat thanks to her performance in "Still Alice." Having stunning in Givenchy Couture at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards and giving sexy its name in Tom Ford at the BAFTA Awards, I am really excited to see what Julianne wears on Oscar night. My main guess will be that her pal Karl Lagerfeld will custom make something from Chanel. I went back to the Chanel Fall 2014 Couture for my runway wish for Julianne. I absolutely love this feather and crystal embellished Chanel Fall 2014 Couture strapless bell shaped gown, but it needs some work to be red carpet read for Julianne to wear for the Oscars. First while I love the bell shape it would not look good on Julianne. Turning this gown into a column gown would make it much more red carpet ready and the feathers on the bodice would need to be trimmed down to accommodate for Julianne's petite frame. If Karl would make these adjustments for Julianne this would be a showstopping moment for the woman most likely to take home the naked gold man. Finish the look with an updo, something that Julianne has not done for a major awards show this season, a red lip, simple cluster earrings and a pair of very simple black sandals would finish off the look perfectly for Julianne.
Marion Cotillard is the surprise nominee at this years Academy Awards. I don't think even she expected the nomination. I say this because she wore the only Oscar worthy gown that was left from Christian Dior for the Critics Choice Movie Awards last month. Last year I started to doubt the partnership of Marion and Dior, but the start of this year has seen Marion back to her best. I think that this re-found confidence, and loads of risks, means that Marion is definitely one to keep our eyes on for Oscar night. After looking at the Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture I was left with two options, either Marion would take a HUGE risk for her Oscar gown or Raf Simons will be custom making something for Marion. I am hoping for the risk. While a blue lace strapless tea length gown with a full skirt is far from a conceptual risk it is a huge risk for the Oscars red carpet where floor length is an unspoken requirement for any of the ladies nominated for their acting (unless your under the age of 18). Finished with a pair of sparkling silver pumps, a red lip and chic vintage inspired hairstyle Marion will have an ensemble that will be the biggest statement at the Academy Awards.
With silver Calvin Klein at the Golden Globe Awards, white Giorgio Armani at the SAG Awards, and then purple Stella McCartney at the BAFTA Awards I still haven't had a WOW moment from Reese Witherspoon on the red carpet this awards season. I am praying that when the "Wild" star steps out for the Academy Awards that she really pulls out all the stops. This salmon pink Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture ballgown with oversized crystal embellishments would be a statement for Reese. This gown is soft and classically pretty yet bold enough for a woman nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Reese would HAVE to put her hair up in sleek low bun with this dress, she has been favoring leaving her long locks flowing but I am praying for her to put a little more effort into her hair for the Oscars. A clean barely there makeup palette, simple earrings, and a pair of gold peep toe pumps would just round out this Oscar worthy look for Reese.
The red carpet paved road to the Oscars has been quite rocky for "Gone Girl" star Rosamund Pike. It started off with a white Vera Wang at the Golden Globe Awards which really did nothing for her, followed by an avant garde Christian Dior Couture trapeze dress at the SAG Awards that was okay but again didn't really do anything for her, and then a black Roland Mouret gown at the BAFTA Awards that was perfect in every way but made me lust for her to wear color. I am hoping that Rosamund really gives me something to talk about, in a good way, at the culmination of this journey: the Oscars. I picked this Marchesa Pre-Fall 2015 ink blue cap sleeve sequin mermaid inspired gown with scalloped lace embellishment and a plunging v-neckline. I think that this is a modern way to nod at old Hollywood glamour. The silhouette screams silver screen siren while the textile makes it modern (with the lace adding a bit of vintage love). Barely there inspired makeup, her hair styled in a sleek straight bob, silver sandals, a diamond bracelet and a pair of dazzling diamond earrings will ensure that Rosamund really wow's me on the Oscars red carpet.

2015 Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon

We are finally in the final stretch for the Academy Awards. The nominees all gathered in LA on Monday at a luncheon to celebrate their nominations. The actress nominees all really brought it to the red carpet arrivals for the luncheon. Felicity Jones wore a forest green Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2015 wax coated cotton dress over a navy and orange sequin embroidered trompe l’oeil sweater underneath and a pair of green pumps. I am getting the vibes that Felicity will be named a face of Dior once awards season is all said and done. Best Actress front runner Julianne Moore broke her red carpet mold and wore a slightly modified red Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2015 cocktail dress. The original dress was presented without the peplum top. I find myself wishing that Julianne had picked the original dress over the peplum. Current face of Christian Dior Marion Cotillard was the lucky, yet unsurprising, lady who had the honor of wearing a look from the recently presented Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture collection. I love how Marion took this unusual dress and made it seem like an instant classic. The vintage inspired hair, the silver Dior clutch, and black Dior pumps just made the dress the star and Marion worked this dress like I thought only the likes of Diane Kruger could. I have been on a roller coaster of style with Reese Witherspoon this awards season. For the Nominees Luncheon we were on a style high. Reese looked fabulous in her Giambattista Valli black and white color blocked flared dress, and the black and white Gianvito Rossi ‘Peggy’ sandals that she wore just made the look that much better. And finally Best Supporting Actress nominee Emma Stone kept up her monochromatic dressing with a Michael Kors Pre-Fall ensemble, that consists of a black and white striped sequined sweater and black and white polka dot chiffon skirt. I am really praying for color from Emma in the coming weeks. She has been rocking the back but I need to see her wear color as she can get away with wearing just about anything.

My favorite of this group has to be Marion! That Dior Couture is just so different and unexpected for the occasion and she really made it work. Who are you most looking forward to seeing on the Academy Awards red carpet?

Red Carpet Rundown: 2015 Critics Choice Movie Awards

I was shocked to see so many dramatic gowns at the Critics Choice Movie Awards last night. Pleasantly surprised to say the least. My favorite of the night had to be Keira Knightley wearing Delpozo Fall 2014 RTW. After the ghastly Chanel gown she wore to the Golden Globe Awards I was glad to see her back on top form. Emily Blunt looked very pretty in her custom tomato red Emilio Pucci halter gown. I was a little surprised to find out that this was Pucci because it isn't the norm when I think of the house. Julianne Moore made basic black anything but basic wearing a custom Saint Laurent gown. The gown gave me 60's Gothic glam and I loved seeing her wear this on the red carpet. While she might have been slightly overdressed in white Christian Dior Fall 2014 Couture, Marion Cotillard looked absolutely AMAZING in this gown. It was her best Dior look in a very long time, I might say since her last outing in a design by Galliano. And last but not least I have to say that Michelle Monaghan killed the red carpet in black lace Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2015 sleeveless gown. Everything about this look was on point, the hair, the makeup, and the simple styling.
Sadly there were some of my favorite ladies that really disappointed me. I have been watching Carmen Ejogo keep getting more are more accustomed to the red carpet and her Emilia Wickstead Spring 2015 RTW collection almost made my good list but the giant pockets at her waist just stood out to me like oven mitts. After a regal red carpet offering at the Golden Globes last Sunday that I was thoroughly disappointed in Felicity in this boring unflattering Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2015 RTW gown. The sheer bodice over a granny bra paired with a skirt that hits her at a place that makes her look wide was just a bad culmination of the ideas. Jessica Chastain REALLY let me down last night wearing an over-complicated Antonio Berardi Spring 2015 RTW gown. This gown could have, and should have, been simplified. The asymmetrical mandarin neckline just ruined what could have been an amazing red carpet look. Only a supermodel would have been able to pull off this gown as presented. When I learned that Reese Witherspoon's franken-gown was custom made for her by Lanvin you could have knocked me over with a feather. I think that had this gown been either fully fuchsia or fully black that this could have been an amazing look. The hair needed to be up and this would have been the perfect look to wear a statement necklace with. I was sadly disappointed. And finally I have had mixed feelings on Rosamund Pike in Valentino New York Sala Bianca 945 Haute Couture. On one hand I really love the skirt, but on the other I can not stand the bodice of this dress. When I am judging red carpets I keep a pad with all the stars a line for the dress identification and a line for the first comments that come to my mind. When I saw Rosamund what did I write down? Lumpy. The top made her look lumpy, and after all the skin that she showed at the Golden Globe Awards we all know that Rosamund is not lumpy.

Almost all of these women will be in attendance at the Screen Actors Guild Awards next Sunday night and I will be live tweeting the red carpet and the awards show with Kelly from Dream in Lace. Join me (@FutureStylist93) and Kelly (@DreamInLace) at 6 PM on Sunday January 25, 2015 for all kinds of fashion IDs and snarky commentary.

2015 Critics Choice Awards Wish List Part 2

Jessica Chastain KILLED the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards last night in a bronze Atelier Versace old Hollywood pleated gown and tonight in London is a premiere for her film "A Most Violent Year." I am hoping that all of her traveling will not leave the starlet fatigued come Thursday night and the Critics Choice Movie Awards. Jessica's nomination actually comes from "A Most Violent Year" for Best Supporting Actress. I am hoping that Jessica will keep up her amazing red carpet run by wearing this tonal blue bi-color J. Mendel Pre-Fall 2015 lace gown that features a deep v-neck, panels of tonal blue floral lace throughout and a floor length column skirt with a split at the front. This a structured gown which is not what Jessica tends to favor. She loves the old Hollywood silhouette and I think that this would look just as amazing on her as that does. Blue sandals and simple diamonds will ensure that this look makes Jessica shine.
There is a spectrum of designers that I am expecting to see Julianne Moore wear on her bath to the Academy Awards for the major awards shows. Last night at the Golden Globes she ticked the Givenchy Couture box topping my Best Dressed list. Tom Ford, Chanel, Alexander McQueen, and Dior are all other brands that I am sure we will see on the red headed actress. For Thursday nights Critics Choice Movie Awards I would love to see Julianne sneak into the Chanel archives and grab this blue Chanel Spring 2012 Couture gown. With now 4 awards and festival seasons past since this gown was presented I am shocked that we have not seen it. I think that Julianne would look amazing in it. The bold blue tones would look amazing against her peachy skin and vibrant hair. A pair of black sandals and a blue clutch would finish this look off perfectly for the Critics Choice Awards.
Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior is either love or hate for me anymore. I am hoping that Thursday night when she takes to the red carpet at the Critics Choice Movie Awards, where she is nominated for Best Actress for her foreign language film "Two Days, One Night," that she gives me an offering to DIE for. I think that this ivory Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2015 strapless tea length gown paired with, or without, the runways silver sequined sweater would make an amazing option. The styling would totally depend on her choice to wear the sweater or not. If she does I would not add a clutch and just a pair of silver Dior sandals, if she doesn't I would give Marion a gold Christian Dior clutch and Dior gold pumps. The hair also depends on the way she would wear the dress, if worn as presented her hair should be up in an edgy updo, if worn sans sweater I would wear her hair in a vintage inspired wavy bob. Either way I think that this would be a winning look for the Critics Choice Movie Awards.
Meryl Streep actually shocked me wearing a Paule Ka caped gown last night and looking fantastic. I am hoping that despite the more casual air of the Critics Choice Movie Awards that Meryl keeps up her roll. Nominated for Best Supporting Actress thanks to her role as the witch in the movie musical "Into The Woods." While I am picking a couture gown for her to wear Thursday night this Valentino Fall 2014 Couture gown with its long sleeves and tribalish print is in form with the standard for the Critics Choice Awards red carpet. Finish the look with a black clutch and a pair of black simple pumps and Meryl will have another winning look on her hands,
Reese Witherspoon brought old Hollywood glam to the Golden Globe Awards red carpet last night ultimately ending up as one of my top 10 looks from the night in sparkling custom Calvin Klein. I am hoping that Reese will keep up this roll on Thursday at the Critics Choice Movie Awards where she is nominated for Best Actress for "Wild." I continue to want Reese to embrace color as she has been favoring black and neutrals over the last year. This Prabal Gurung Spring 2015 RTW halter cocktail dress with black, teal, white, an grey would be a beautiful choice. This is an awards show where Reese could get away with wearing a short dress, and Reese LOVES her short dresses, so I am expecting to see her show off her enviable legs. Finish this look off with a teal Edie Parker clutch, black Stuart Weitzman "Nudist" sandals, simple jewels, hair worn up, and a bright pink lip and Reese will give another amazing red carpet ensemble.

Me and Kelly from Dream In Lace had so much fun last night that we are going to do it all over again Thursday for the Critics Choice Movie Awards. Please join me (@FutureStylist93) and Kelly (@DreamInLace) at about 9 PM EST for all kinds of fashion ID's and LOTS of snarky commentary.

2014 End of the Year Awards: Worst Looks of the Year

With all the amazing looks this year there were still A LOT of dud looks. Be they on the sidewalk, at the airport, awards shows, film festivals, premieres, or front rows some of the biggest names in fashion have landed themselves on my Worst Looks of the Year list? Who do you agree with? Anyone you don't? Anyone you think should be on the list that isn't? Think anyone just had an off day and might be on the Best Dressed of the Year list too?
