Top 10 Looks From The 2016 Academy Awards

The Academy Awards took place in Hollywood last night and the stars showed up in droves to celebrate the best films and performances of the past year. My favorite look of the night came from the red carpet queen Cate Blanchett. Cate was nominated for Best Actress for her work in Carol and continued her tradition of wearing Armani Prive at every Oscars that she has been nominated for. Cate looked fantastic wearing a custom seafoam green Armani Prive gown which seemed so fantastical with its organza petals and feathers. With such a statement gown Cate kept her styling very chic with an elegant updo, nude lip, and Tiffany & Co. diamonds. This will be a look that I remember come time to create my Best Dressed of the Year list.
Lady Gaga was probably the one I was most intrigued to see what she would bring to the red carpet at the Academy Awards and she surely didn't disappoint. Gaga showed up in a white strapless jumpsuit with a detachable skirt custom made for her by friend, designer and stylist Brandon Maxwell inspired by his Fall 2016 RTW collection. Gaga has been a champion of Maxwell's since he launched his collection last September and always look absolutely stunning in his creations. I think only Gaga could get away with wearing red carpet lady pants on the Oscars red carpet. I would have loved to see Gaga wearing a statement diamond necklace but her old Hollywood styling was all on point. Gaga owned the Academy Awards red carpet.

Not many agreed with me but I LOVED Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Couture on the Academy Awards red carpet last night. Many people likened it to the black Dior gown she wore in 2014 and I had flashbacks to her Gucci gown back in 2004 but you know what they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it. This gown is a chic modern look with a lot of glamorous drama and Charlize rocked the simple style with ease down the red carpet. Finished with a statement Harry Winston necklace and a smokey eye and this will be a look one remembers for years.

Brie Larson was nominated for Best Actress for her work in Room at the Academy Awards last night, and won. She did so in fine style rocking a custom blue Gucci gown which took the boho spirit of the brand and amped up the glamour. I love the large vertical ruffles on the skirt, the crystal embellished belt, the slicked back hair, the simple jewels, and the red lip. All of the elements of this look just came together perfectly to ensure that Brie had a major moment on the Oscars red carpet.
Naomi Watts attended the 2016 Academy Awards as the plus on of Liev Schreiber, who was among the presenters last night, and made one of my dreams come true. Last July when this Armani Prive Fall 2015 Couture gown walked the runway in Paris I wanted to see Naomi in this gown and it featured on my wish list for her Toronto Film Fest appearance. So I let out a bit of a squeal when I saw that Naomi had chosen this gown for the Oscars red carpet. The statement necklace, black clutch, wavy bob, and red lip all just made this look perfect for the red carpet.

I think my jaw dropped when I saw Saoirse Ronan step out on the Academy Awards red carpet last night. I never would have pictured Saoirse wearing this gown until I saw it. I figured Saoirse was going to wear a British brand on the red carpet so when I saw this emerald Calvin Klein sequined gown with velvet straps I was shocked. Saoirse wanted to bring modern glam to the red carpet bu still hold her native Ireland close to her heart so she wanted to wear green. It was perfection.

Daisy Ridley showed us why she is a fashion force on the Oscars red carpet. Its pretty well know that a gown is the Academy Awards requisite and usually one that has a dramatic train or a full skirt. Daisy shunned the rules and wore a tea length Chanel Spring 2016 Couture embellished top and skirt. I was really shocked that Daisy wore this look and then I was surprised by just how much I loved it. It was a big risk for Daisy and it really paid off.
Julianne Moore was amazing on the Oscars red carpet. While I really wanted to see Rooney Mara wearing this Chanel Spring 2016 Couture gown, I can not deny how gorgeous Julianne is. This is a different look for Julianne, we usually see her wearing very fitted or mermaid silhouettes so it was nice to see a more princessy look from her. This black lace gown with crystal embellishments made for such a classic look and Julianne styled it perfectly.

Olivia Munn walked the Academy Awards red carpet wearing an orange Stella McCartney gown with a sleek asymmetrical caped neckline. Olivia was the only one on the Oscars  red carpet that wore orange and it was a risk that totally paid off. What I think dropped Olivia down this list is when she was on the stage her matching orange lip ended up looking like a construction workers vest. She gave us a modern glam look and I still love it.

I knew I was going to enjoy seeing Chrissy Teigan on the Oscars red carpet but she blew away my expectations wearing a hot off the runaway Marchesa Fall 2016 RTW gown. There were a lot of Marchesa gowns on the red carpet last night but this above all else was my favorite. The illusion tulle gown with red floral embroidery was a daring choice for the pregnant model to make on the red carpet but she make it work and in such a glamorous way.

#Oscars 2016: Presenter Wish List Part 2

I think that at the Academy Awards on Sunday night that one of the stars that I am most excited to see out on the red carpet is newbie Daisy Ridley. Daisy has been killing it on the red carpet since bursting onto the scene with the promo tour for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and killing every single one of her looks from the most coveted designers. Daisy can have her pick of designers but Sunday for the main show I would most love to see her in Giambattista Valli. For her first Oscars I would love Daisy to show up with a princess moment and I think that this royal blue and white Giambattista Valli Spring 2014 Couture floral embroidered peplum ball gown. While Daisy could have a custom look or anything off of a current runway but I think that this gown needs a red carpet moment and I think it would be the perfect red carpet moment for Daisy at her first Oscars. Complete the look with a chic updo, light pink lip, diamond and sapphire cluster earrings, a diamond bracelet and a pair of blue sandals to just ensure that Daisy lets this gown do all the talking on the red carpet.
Julianne Moore won the Best Leading Actress trophy at the Academy Awards last year and will be returning to the Oscars stage Sunday as a presenter. Julianne has some of the best red carpet style and I am really hoping that she will blow me away on Sunday. I would love to see Julianne show off her sexier side by wearing this wine Valentino Spring 2016 Couture pleated velvet gown which featuring a daring plunging neckline. While the deep neck is not something that Julianne usually wears on the red carpet I know that she is one that could make this gown come alive on the Oscars red carpet. Julianne has such a way with clothes that she almost always excites (she was last years red carpet diva after all). I think that the neckline makes takes this classic style gown into a more modern zone. The styling of this look is key, while most would take this open neck as an opportunity to rock a statement necklace I don't think that is what Julianne should do. All that is needed to finish off this look is a chic updo, a nude lip, diamond cluster earrings, a gold clutch, and a pair of gold sandals.
Olivia Munn hosted the 2016 Academy Scientific and Technical Awards earlier this month and Sunday will be on hand to report about the festivities during the Academy Awards telecast on Sunday night. After her hosting duties Olivia was spotted front row at the Michael Kors Fall 2016 Presentation during New York Fashion Week. I was immediately drawn to this silver sequined cocktail dress with car wash pleats from the collection. My first thoughts on this dress was not how beautiful of a cocktail look it is but "WOW that would make an amazing Oscars gown." So I started to think who could wear it and when I saw Olivia was front row I decided that it would be a perfect fit. Add a bold red lip, wavy updo, a silver box clutch, a pair of silver sandals, and diamond cluster earrings to this modified gown and I think Olivia will have a major Oscars red carpet moment.
Patricia Arquette, who's returning to the Oscars stage after winning Best Supporting Actress last year, usually shows up on the red carpet wearing looks that aren't special enough for the event that she is attending. Sunday night I would love to see Patricia walk the Academy Awards red carpet wearing this black and blue Elizabeth Kennedy Fall 2016 RTW gown which features an off the shoulder neckline, short sleeves, a fitted bodice, a column skirt, and a long cape-like train at the back. I think that this gown is special enough to make a glamorous statement for Patricia on the most glamorous night in Hollywood. We got our first taste of Elizabeth Kennedy on the red carpet when she dressed Laverne Cox and Maura Tierney on the Golden Globes red carpet. Since then she has presented her Fall 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week and I can honestly say that I can see this being a designer to watch. I can pretty much bet that what ever Patricia wears she will have a clutch that is just a tad to large, a pair of black pumps, and an unkempt updo. Not exactly how I would style this look. I think that a chic tight bun, red lip, a small sparkling black minaudiere, black peep toe pumps, and a pair of simple diamond drop earrings would ensure that Patrica has her best red carpet look ever, but really do you think she cares about what people think of her on the red carpet? I don't.
Usually I am begging for Tina Fey to step away from the black and into bold colors, and I applaud her blood orange Prabal Gurung gown from the SAG Awards, but for her Academy Awards presenter duties on Sunday I went right back to two things she loves: black & lace. I picked this black beaded lace Marchesa Pre-Fall 2016 gown which features a column silhouette with a scalloped square neckline, a fitted bodice, and tiered ruffles along the skirt. I think that this classic gown would look phenomenal on Tina and give I also think that the silhouette is going to elongate her tiny frame making her appear much taller than she actually is. Keeping the styling in tune with the gown I would add a chic vintage inspired updo, pink lip, diamond cluster earrings, swap the lookbooks black clutch for a gold embellished Marchesa clutch, and finish with a simple pair of black Christian Louboutin peep toe pumps to ensure that Tina has a very glamorous moment on the Oscars red carpet.

2016 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 9

Ciara has been out on every major awards show red carpet over the past year and is expected to be out on Oscar night at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party gala as she is one of the events many celebrity co-chairs. While almost every single red carpet look that Ciara has worn on the red carpets recently has been Alexandre Vauthier I would most love to see Ciara wearing this green Akris Pre-Fall 2016 sequined gown with her favored sexy high thigh split as well as a bodice splice. This is a perfect look for a music star out on the red carpet on Oscar night as it mixes that edge you get from music and the glamour of a film red carpet. A pair of simple black sandals, hair styled in a sleek low ponytail (like the lookbook), a pair of diamond cluster earrings, and red lip would ensure that this is a major look for Ciara on the Elton John red carpet.
Last years Oscar winner Julianne Moore is presenting at the ceremony and I am sure that we will have an amazing moment on the main stage red carpet but I am also hoping that she changes for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party after the show. Julianne has always been one of my favorite red carpet ladies and I am truly hoping that she gives me two looks on Oscar night. For the Vanity Fair party I picked this amazing black Versace Pre-Fall 2016 grommet embellished gown which features long sheer sleeves. This is a type of look that I would expect to see on the back of someone who went big on the main red carpet and want to slip into something a little more comfortable to party in for the Vanity Fair party. A black clutch, black pumps, a pair of statement stone earrings, and a red lip would finish this perfect after-party look for Julianne.
Naomi Campbell is another that is on the long list of co-chairs for the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party and I am sure that the supermodel will be out on the red carpet. For big red carpet outings Naomi has a small arsenal of designer friends like Donatella Versace, Azzendine Alaia, and Riccardo Tisci to whom she looks to dress her. I am going with Riccardo Tisci and this beige Givenchy Spring 2016 Couture draped gown which featured crocodile tin on the stomach cutout. I am not usually a fan of Naomi on the red carpet. There is almost always something that I find I have a problem with, usually her hair. I would recommend to Naomi that she wear the sleeves of this gown up on her shoulders instead of off the shoulder, add old Hollywood waves pushed over one shoulder, add a red lip and some gold sandals to ensure that this is a beautiful red carpet moment for Naomi for the Elton John party (and who knows maybe for Vanity Fair as well.)
Nina Dobrev is always a fixture at awards show parties and next Sunday night I would put my money on her attending the Elton John party. Nina has been on the Elton John red carpet almost every year since she burst on to the red carpet scene. I would love to see the former Vampire Diaries star to show up for Elton wearing this white J. Mendel Pre-Fall 2016 black & white corded halter gown. This is a very Nina gown. She loves a classic yet dramatic look, and if this gown is not on the main stage I would love to see Nina wearing it for Elton John. Such a glam look needs very classic styling with a black Rauwolf clutch, black Christian Louboutin sandals, a red lip, and diamond drop earrings to ensure that Nina has a Hollywood moment on Hollywood's biggest night.
I certainty am expecting to see Rita Ora out on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party as I don't think Rita has ever met a red carpet that she hasn't liked. I would love to see Rita bring some DRAMA to the Vanity Fair party red carpet wearing this black and white Giambattista Valli Spring 2016 Couture tea length ball gown. This is a majorly dramatic moment and I think that Rita would be one of the best choices to give this gown to to have the total impact that I can picture it having on a red carpet. The styling would have to be on point to ensure that this doesn't go into costume territory. A pair of black sandals, a sleek updo, red lip, and diamond cluster earrings would make this look an amazing red carpet moment for Rita on Oscar night.

Best Dressed at the 2016 BAFTA Awards

The BAFTA Awards took place the the Royal Opera House in London last night and Hollywood stars were out in full force. Cate Blanchett, who was nominated for Best Actress, showed up and my heart stopped beating. I have been waiting for a moment like this from Cate since the Cannes Film Festival and she finally gave me a drop dead gorgeous look that reminded me why I call her my red carpet queen. Queen Cate wore a custom Alexander McQueen gown which featured a floral embroidered denim blouse and black feathered skirt. This gown was actually a meshing of two looks from the Alexander McQueen Spring 2016 RTW collection, the bodice and the feathered skirt. This gown meshed those two looks together and Cate made it work with much ease. Cate finished her amazing look with black Giuseppe Zanotti pumps and Tiffany & Co. jewelry.
Julianne Moore was a close second to Cate wearing an amazing black and white custom Armani Prive halter mermaid gown. Julianne has the ability to make so many different types of looks work on the red carpet and here she displays classic glamour. I love that the redheaded actress paired this gown with a pair of emerald Chopard earrings. I always say when you go monochromatic that you you should always add a pop of color and the emerald earrings did a great job at that along with the hot pink lip color that Julianne wore with her gown.

Saoirse Ronan has been very pretty all awards season but she showed that she can hang with the real big style stars yesterday at the BAFTA Awards. Saoirse wore an absolutely amazing hand beaded firework pattern custom Burberry strapless column gown that she paired with a statement Chopard necklace set with 275 carats fancy colored sapphires, 82 carats fancy colored briolette-cut sapphires, 11 carats round shaped rose-cut diamonds, and 5 carats of pear shaped diamonds. Her deliberately messy elegant updo, smoky eye, and Chopard yellow diamond cocktail ring all rounded off a look that finally made me take notice of the stunning actress.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke stepped out on the BAFTA Awards red carpet and she did do in fine style wearing a very beautiful red Victoria Beckham gown. Emilia was a presenter last night and I believe that she chose to go with this gown to not overshadow all the nominees, but she slayed the red carpet. A Jimmy Choo clutch and Tiffany & Co. diamonds finished this look.
Olga Kurylenko was another of the stunning guests at the BAFTA Awards yesterday. She wore a beautiful white Ralph & Russo Spring 2016 Couture short sleeve embroidered sheer gown with a portrait neckline. I was a little hesitant to love this look because Olga has already worn a similar Ralph & Russo gown before but I think that this is just so chic that I can not ignore it. All the elements of this look from the voluminous waves to the Ralph & Russo clutch just scream glamour and that is why she is on this list.

On any other woman I probably would have said that this orange lace Erdem Pre-Fall 2016 floral embroidered gown would have been inappropriate for the BAFTA Awards but model Dree Hemingway has such a cool girl status for her sense of style that she makes it work. I can only picture someone like Florence Welch being able to sell this gown to me, but I am glad that Dree brought something different to the BAFTA red carpet. I applaud her for taking such a risk.

We are so used to seeing very flirty and feminine looks from Alicia Vikander so I have to give a round of applause for this custom Louis Vuitton crystal embellished leather gown. Inspired by the Spring 2016 RTW collection, it is not something I would have ever pictured on Alicia but she does it an insane amount of justice. This sexy side of Alicia is something that I am hoping that we will see this side of her a little more on the red carpet.
I had never heard of Bel Powley before the BAFTA Awards red carpet last night but I guess I will have to start taking notice of the EE Rising Star nominee as she hit the red carpet wearing a custom Gucci multicolored striped lurex plisse gown. This is another of those looks that I would not pick for the BAFTA Awards but on Bel, who is 23, made me stop and swoon when I saw her on the carpet.

I think the biggest shock for me is that I am including Rooney Mara in my Best Dressed list. Rooney has failed to excite me this awards season but I was quite drawn to her oyster colored Givenchy Spring 2016 Couture. It is reminiscent of looks that she has worn recently but I think that this time all her styling was on point. I appreciate that it was something visually interesting and not another basic white, black, or nude gown.

I am going to start off with saying that I love Dakota Johnson wearing this stunning red Christian Dior gown, but I was a little underwhelmed. Dakota looked beautiful but I was expecting a little more from the EE Rising Star who had been delivering red carpet hit after red carpet hit recently. I almost wish that she had switched this with her gold Marc Jacobs gown she wore last week, it would have caused me to push her up this list a few spaces.

Top 10 Looks at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards

I put together a video with all the 10 looks that I loved above all else on the red carpet. I was surprised by my non-love of Cate Blanchett and my inability to stop gushing over Jennifer Lopez (who wore the gown I picked for Cate Blanchett.) The Globes red carpet was pretty awesome and I have to say that I am now excited for awards season.

2016 Golden Globe Awards: Presenter Wish List Part 1

The Golden Globe Awards are only a few days away and the lists of presenters are starting to roll in. With each new tweet I get more and more excited, it seems like all of Hollywood is planing on turning out on Sunday. Amber Heard helped kick off awards season this past Saturday at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala, but I was sadly disappointed in her black lace Dolce & Gabbana gown which had a black bralet and a nude pencil skirt lining. I am praying that Amber really brings the sexy to the red carpet at the Globe's on Sunday and I think that she would rock the hell out of this champagne Ralph & Russo Fall 2015 Couture silk corseted gown with its off the shoulder neckline and draped skirt with a sexy split. This dress reminds me of a Grecian goddess and I believe that Amber would absolutely beautiful wearing this gown on the red carpet. Old Hollywood waves, a red lip, a gold Marchesa embellished clutch, a pair of Jimmy Choo gold 'Lance' sandals, and a pair of dazzling vintage yellow gold set Van Cleef & Arpels diamond earrings would make me fall in love with Amber on this red carpet.
It was only Tuesday that the Antonio Berardi Pre-Fall 2016 collection was presented in London. I am hoping that this color and patterned blocked column gown will be on a plane on it's way to the back of Amy Adams for the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. When I first saw this gown in the lookbook Amy immediately popped into my mind so when she was announced as a presenter at the Globes my mind went straight to this gown for her red carpet moment. Many stars don't take the risk of wearing patterns on the red carpet at these big red carpets but I think that this is done in such a chic and modern way that Amy would look amazing. The navy coloring in this gown would compliment Amy's peachy pink complexion and stand out against her flaming red locks. Finish the look with a black Rauwolf clutch, a pair of black Brian Atwood peep toe pumps, a red lip, old Hollywood waves, a pair of dazzling Cartier diamond earrings, and a Cartier diamond bracelet to make this the perfect look for the modern woman on a Hollywood red carpet.
At the 2015 Emmy Awards Jaimie Alexander set herself up to be a woman to watch on the red carpet wearing a custom Armani Prive multi-color long sleeved gown. I am excited to see what the Blindspot actress is going to wear on Sunday at the Golden Globe Awards. I would love to see her step out wearing this black and white velvet devore Zac Posen Spring 2016 RTW gown which features an inverted halter that drapes at the back, a relaxed floor length silhouette, and an exposed split at the back. This relaxed silhouette is something different for Jaimie who tends to stick to more fitted looks, but I think that this gown would look absolutely fantastic on her. This gown needs someone confident to wear it on the red carpet as many would get lost wearing this type of silhouette alone and add the print this is a downright difficult gown to wear. Finish this look with a vintage inspired bob, art-deco diamond drop earrings, a black clutch, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin sandals and this look is fantastic for Globes red carpet
So far Julianne Moore has been the hardest person to pick a gown for. I went through all of the recent and archived collections trying to pick something that just screamed Julianne, and I couldn't find a single thing. I am figuring that Julianne will wear a custom gown by one of her friends like Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy, Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel, or Tom Ford. I really hope so. If I had to pick a runway dress for Julianne it would be this Brandon Maxwell Spring 2016 RTW gown with its column silhouette and its dramatic train, but I would have it made in a bordeaux red or emerald green. While the black is dramatic on it's own (and a great backdrop for some amazing statement earrings) I would really love to see Julianne wearing color. I personally would love this in emerald with a gold clutch, yellow gold set Bulgari diamond and emerald earrings, a pair of gold pumps, chic updo, and a red lip to ensure that Julianne has a major moment on the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday night.
Kate Hudson was kinda difficult because almost every look that I said "OOOOOOO she would look great in that" was white, and I don't think that after having such a major white moment at the Golden Globe Awards last year that she will do that again so soon. When I scrolled past this gold short sleeve column silhouette Marchesa Pre-Fall 2016 Gown with a scalloped v-neckline and bugle beaded fringe detailing I mentally dressed Kate in it and my breath was taken away. Kate really does high fashion bohemian like no other on the red carpet and I think that this gown would just come to life on her. I would keep the gold laser cut Marchesa clutch that the gown was paired with on the runway and add a pair of gold Christian Louboutin sandals, a pink lip & a simple updo to finish this look off for Kate.
I am crazy excited that Olivia is going to be on the red carpet at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday! Olivia has such a chic high glam type of look and she always leaves me speechless when she steps out. While she is not usually one to go big or go home I would love to see her wearing this Elie Saab Fall 2015 Couture wine red beaded spaghetti strap gown which features a caped back. The only reservation I can see someone having about wearing this gown on the Globes red carpet is the comparisons to the red caped Ralph Lauren gown that Lupita Nyong'o wore in 2014. Olivia has this modern glamour that would take this gown into such an elegant place and would definitely put her in contention for best dressed on this red carpet.

I will be live tweeting the Golden Globe Awards red carpet with my partner in snark Kelly from Dream In Lace on Sunday January 8, 2016 starting a 6pm. Make sure you check out Kelly's blog and then follow us both (@DreamInLace and @FutureStylist93) on Twitter. Join in on the snark and the fashion of the first major awards show of the year!

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed of 2015

First off I would like to wish all of my readers a very Merry Christmas. I hope everyone is spending the day with family and enjoying the day. On this day of celebration and gift giving I am gifting to all of you a host of beautiful women in my Best Dressed of the Year list. Taking the top spot is Lea Seydoux in custom bright sunshine yellow Prada at the 2015 BAFTA Awards. This was a major moment that made my jaw drop the moment I saw it. For the most part I was very disappointed in the BAFTA red carpet as there was nothing all that interesting until Lea showed up. This dramatic yet extremely elegant gown is one of the best things that Prada has ever put on the red carpet. It was however hard to choose between Lea's looks as they have all been amazing this year. I am excited to continue to see Lea be embraced by mainstream films because I want to see her on more big promo tour red carpets.
Following closely to Lea is Emmy Rossum who exuded lady like elegance at the The New York Botanical Garden's annual Conservatory Ball wearing a beautiful water inspired Carolina Herrera Fall 2015 RTW. If Lea and Prada weren't such a match made in heaven this would have been my number one look of the year. Everything about this look exudes chicness, from the diamond drop earrings to the sweeping updo, and the red lip. This will be a look that will rank in Emmy's record books for many years to come.

Sonam Kapoor is a stunning spokesmodel for L'Oreal Paris in India. Before she got her hands on this contract I had no idea who she was but slowly over the years she has been taking the Cannes Film Festival by storm and I have been loving more and more of her looks. This year I fell in love with this stunning Ashi Studio couture gown that Sonam wore for the L’Oreal Paris ‘Matte or Gloss’ Cannes Collection Launch prior to this years festival. The sculptural-ness of this gown made me absolutely fall in love with it. This gown is so unique in it's shape that most would end up being overwhelmed, and Sonam worked it like it owed her back rent.

Kerry Washington stepped out for the 2015 Emmy Awards and she worked the hell out of this Marc Jacobs Spring 2016 RTW completely embellished cocktail dress. Kerry broke standard awards show dress code rules by showing up in a short dress. While I would have been even more in love with this as a gown I applaud Kerry for stepping out of the standard box and going with a look from my favorite Spring 2016 RTW collection. This collection was made for adventurous spirits like Kerry. Oh and on a side note, Kerry is the only woman to make an appearance on both this years Best and Worst Dressed lists.
Kate Hudson and Atelier Versace has always been a match made in heaven. This white gown embellished with swarovski crystals and its plunging neckline has been on my mind all year. As I think back on all of my favorite moments that Kate Hudson has had on the red carpet almost all of them that come to mind immediately have been in white. What I love about this look is that while everything about this look on paper should read cheap, tacky, pageant dress but on Kate it is chic, demure with the right amount of sexy.

How to do you go out with a bang? Just look at Elizabeth Banks who kicked off the final promo tour for the Hunger Games series with Mockingjay Part 2 in grand style wearing an Elie Saab Fall 2015 Couture floral ball gown at the films world premiere in Berlin. This is a beautiful princess moment that I can picture her character, Effie Trinkett, being quite proud of. It may not have been the Atelier Versace moment that I was expecting but it is even more spectacular than what I was expecting.

I always have one street style look on the list. I am always one of the people who loves a great moment of personal style. Lupita Nyong'o was spotted leaving The View wearing a dress from the BOSS Fall 2015 RTW dress that she paired with a matching blazer, a grey BOSS "Bespoke" handbag, red suede pointed toe pumps, and a pair of black sunglasses. This is an edgy feminine version of a power suit that I immediately fell for. If you are looking for inspiration for hot work wear this is exactly what you should be using as inspiration.
Julianne Moore had an amazing year and it really was hard picking a favorite look of her's to feature on the Best Dressed of the Year list. With all kinds of custom gowns from Chanel and Givenchy it was surprising to me that my favorite look from the stunning redhead was her all black Armani Prive gown worn to the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony. I love a redhead in black and Julianne pulled off this stunning gown embellished with crystals and feathers. I think it was the feathers, and the emerald Chopard earrings, that made me really love this gown. I am a sucker for feathers. Sleek hair and a perfectly executed smokey eye finished this look to perfection.

Lily James's rise to fashion stardom was paved with princess dresses from the likes of Dior and Elie Saab but it was her sleek modern icy grey/blue custom Balenciaga gown with brass buttons at the "Cinderella" premiere in London. For almost all the premieres it was ball gowns so I was very happy to see Lily change it up with this look. I love how she kept the styling simple adding sleek slicked back hair, a lined eye, and pink pout. This is how you do modern Cinderella. Lily at the end of the year cut her hair and dyed it dark and it's almost like she lost her mojo. I am hoping that she returns to top form in 2016, because this type of moment is one that is forever needed.

Finally I picked Blake Lively in her stunning red Monique Lhuillier Fall 2012 RTW gown at the New York premiere of her film "The Age of Adeline." The promo tour for this film was so much better than the movie and honestly she might have been a little overdressed for the occasion. Blake gave us sexy Marilyn bombshell in this dress which fused ruffles, lace, leather, and volume. The old Hollywood waves, Lorraine Schwartz diamond ear clips added to the high glamour of the look and a Judith Leiber "Koi Fish" swarovski crystal clutch added a quirky fun touch to ensure that Blake sizzled down the carpet.

It was a hard job taking over 1,300 red carpet looks and narrowing it down to 10 looks. It is a daunting task but someone has to do it. I want to take this moment to thank all of you for helping me have a wonderful year with If I Was A Stylist. 2016 starts a new chapter on my personal journey as for the first time I don't have any school to attend. I am going to work on balancing work life, with blogging and still having time for friends and family. I am formulating some new features for the blog based on things I want to add and things that I have been getting back in my feedback. If you haven't taken my survey please do. It is only 6 questions that help me give you guys what you most want to see. All the feedback I get helps me make your experience on this site more enjoyable. Awards season posts will start on Monday so I am excited to show all of you my wishes.

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Red Carpet Diva of the Year

Red carpet queen Cate Blanchett has been dethroned as the Red Carpet Diva of the Year. This year the Red Carpet Diva Award goes to Juliane Moore who had a whopping 27 looks in my best dressed. She topped Best Dressed Lists at the Golden Globe's, Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Oscars, and the Cannes Film Festival and had amazing looks outside of those events. On top of a campaign that ended with her winning an Academy Award for "Still Alice" and then went on to promote 3 films at the end of the year. Wearing the best of the best from Givenchy, Chanel, Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, and Armani Prive I continuously drooling over all of Julianne's looks. Just when I thought that she had reached her peak she one upped herself. I am excited to see what 2016 will bring for Julianne as she will be all over the red carpets during awards season again and then Cannes.

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Queen of Couture

2015 was an amazing year for Julianne Moore, she won an Academy Award, took Cannes by storm, and promoted three films at the end of this year. Almost all along the way I have been blown away by each and every look that Julianne has worn. With good friends from Karl Largerfeld at Chanel to Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy there was a lot of couture on the back of the beautiful red headed starlet. my favorite looks from her were the three custom Givenchy Couture gowns worn to the Golden Globe Awards, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and the Cannes Film Festival. Often topping best dressed lists it was the black feathered Armani Prive gown that she paired with emerald Chopard earrings at the Cannes Film Festival that ended up cutting down to my Best Dressed of the Year list. Did it actually make it? I guess you will have to make your way back here on December 25!

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" LA Premiere Wish List

So far Jennifer Lawrence's promo tour for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" promo tour has been lack luster. For the promo tour for the final installment of a blockbuster film franchise JLaw has been really letting me down with her Dior gowns in Berlin and London. I have been wanting to see Jennifer wearing this black sheer chiffon evening gown with the strapless white sequin circle cocktail dress underneath. I think that this gown is sporty and glamorous and a perfect look for Jennifer. I was hoping that the Dior atelier would be turning out amazing custom gowns for JLaw in the post Raf world but I am still waiting for a wow moment. This gown paired with sleek slicked back hair, a bold red lip, and a pair of black sandals would ensure that this is a major moment for Jennifer on the red carpet at the "Mockingjay: Part 2" premiere in LA.
Elizabeth Banks its killing the promo tour for this film and I am excited to see what she is going to wear for the final premiere of the film in Los Angeles. The major Elie Saab Couture moment in Berlin and the modern meets classic pant gown at the London premiere and I am hoping for modern glamour at the LA Premiere. Elizabeth wore wearing Atelier Versace for the first "Hunger Games" premiere in LA and I am hoping that she ends this one wearing Atelier Versace bringing her journey full circle. It has been a hot minute since we have seen Elizabeth in a Versace design and I am really hoping that she rocks one since I don't think anyone, except for maybe Jane Fonda, rocks Versace like Elizabeth. This white sexy Atelier Versace Spring 2015 Couture fitted halter gown with sheer inserts. A pair of silver Jimmy Choo sandals, a white Edie Parker clutch, a pair of emerald and diamond drop Chopard earrings, and a red lip would ensure that this gown is perfection on the red carpet.
Jena Malone have a major princess moment at the Berlin premiere of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" wearing Reem Acra and was M.I.A. at the films premiere in London. I am hoping that Jena will be back on the red carpet in LA on November 16. I would love to see Jena wear this vermilion orange Prabal Gururng Spring 2016 RTW halter gown which is very 90's and I think that Jena would rock this gown like crazy on the red carpet. Keep the styling simple with a pair of gold sandals, a gold metal box clutch, wavy bob, and some simple makeup so that Jena has a major moment for her last premiere for this series.
Julianne Moore has been slightly off her game while promoting "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" wearing black Jason Wu at the Berlin premiere (which was incredibly chic) and white Alexander McQueen in London. I am hoping that when she steps out in LA that Julianne pulls out all of the stops. This marigold yellow Giambattista Valli Fall 2015 Couture draped cape gown. This is a showstopping moment which is something that Julianne doesn't do while promoting these films but I wish she would as this would be an amazing red carpet moment. Finish the look with the runways strappy sandals, a chic updo, red lip, and a pair of diamond cluster earrings to keep this look from being overworked and Julianne will shine like the movie star that she is.
Broadway star and Tony Award winning actress Patina Miller has rocked a Zac Posen gown or two in her past red carpet appearances and I actually thought of her when this white Zac Posen Spring 2016 RTW flowing trapeze gown came down the runway. I think that this gown is edgy yet incredibly feminine which is one of the things that I expect out of a Zac Posen gown and Patina would rock the hell out of this gown on the red carpet. I would add a white leather waistband to add a little more structure to this gown because I don't think Patina quite has the height to make this gown work without a band and then add a pair of white sandals, old Hollywood waves, a red lip, and a pair of diamond cluster to finish off this look perfectly for this premiere.
Willow Shields wore a Marni gown at "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" premiere in Berlin that was just a little too grown up for the 15 year old actress. For the LA premiere I picked a much more age appropriate dress for her to wear. I think that this sweet light coral Monique Lhuillier Resort 2016 floral embroidered midi length cocktail dress which features a high round neck with a fitted bodice, a full tea skirt, and floral embroidery throughout. This is the age appropriate look that a 15 year old should be wearing on a red carpet. Willow has her whole rest of her life to wear sexy mature gowns, there are only a few years where she can get away with wearing a dress like this. A pair of silver strappy sandals, a silver clutch, and a pair of diamond cluster earrings would be the perfect accessories to finish off this look for the red carpet.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" London Premiere Wish List

"The Hunger Game: Mockingjay Part 2" will premiere in London on Thursday November 5, 2015 and I am expecting a rather large celebrity turn out. The ladies, and gentlemen, of the series will surly be out in troves to mark the final London premiere for "The Hunger Games" franchise. Jennifer Lawrence, AKA Katniss Everdeen, is obviously going to present at the premiere and I gotta say I am quite intrigued as to what she will end up wearing. JLaw is a signed face of Christian Dior, but with the news this past week that Dior creative director Raf Simons is stepping down will Jennifer still have to wear Dior for EVERY red carpet? I guess this red carpet will be the tell. If she does wear Dior for this premiere I would love to see her wear this mauve Christian Dior Fall 2015 Couture strapless gown. This gown mixes sporty and feminine glamour which are the looks that Jennifer ends up rocking the most on the red carpet. This look paired with diamond cluster earrings, gold sandals, a gold clutch, fresh faced makeup, and a chic updo will ensure that Jennifer has a winning moment at this major premiere for her.
Elizabeth Banks has A LOT to live up to with what she wears on the red carpet for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" premiere thanks to the Elie Saab Couture gown that she wore to the premiere of "Mockingjay Part 1" last year. The first promo tours for this franchise Elizabeth rocked orange for the red carpet and I think it would be nice to see her come full circle wearing this incredibly dramatic Marchesa Spring 2016 RTW sherbet to coral ombre gown which is rendered in textured tulle and features an ombre skirt with a feathered threadwork embroidered bird bodice. This is a bold statement, definitely something her character Effie Trinket would approve of. Elizabeth has the stature to carry this gown off, the question is will she go bold or will she let JLaw shine? Elizabeth should wear a pair of gold sandals, a pink lip, and a vintage inspired updo to ensure that she doesn't overcook this look as too many accessories or jewels will ruin this beautiful statement.
Red carpet rebel Jena Malone is one that I am looking at very closely to see what she is going to wear for the "Mockingjay Part 2" premiere. I absolutely adore Jena's edgy style and it breaks up what is usually a lot of pretty on the red carpet. I would love to see Jena brave London's cold and rock the hell out of this black sheer Schiaparelli Fall 2015 Couture gown which features a beautiful gold sunburst embellished embroidery on the bodice. This gown gives a very distinct 20's Erte art deco style and I think that Jena would look incredibly chic and sexy wearing this gown. Finish the look with old Hollywood waves, a gold clutch, a pair of black sandals, and a bold red lip to keep the vintage inspired air of this look going.
Julianne Moore has been consistently killing it this year on the red carpet and I hope that she finishes with a strong promo tour for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2." Last year for the London premiere of "Mockingjay Part 1" Julianne wore looking stunning in a simple black Balenciaga cocktail gown, I am hoping for a little more drama when she takes to the red carpet for the "Mockingjay Part 2" premiere. I would love to see Julianne Moore wearing this Givenchy Couture gown that was presented alongside the Spring 2016 RTW collection. This gown is a re-envisioning of a gown that Riccardo Tisci first presented in his Givenchy Spring 2011 Couture collection and it has only gotten better. I love the brown ombre feathers on the skirt over the yellow that it was first crafted as. I think Juliane would kill this dark statement gown on the red carpet. Finish the look with a bronze clutch, a pair of bronze heels, old Hollywood waves, and a red lip and this look is for sure going to be one that people will be talking about the next day.
Gwendoline Christie is joining the ranks of the star-studded of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" for the final installment of the series. I am learning to love what the incredibly tall actress, Gwendoline is 6' 3" tall, is wearing on the red carpet and am quite looking forward to what she is going to wear for this premiere. I would pick this white Osman Spring 2016 RTW halter neck caped gown for Gwendoline to wear on this red carpet. I think that this look is classic and modern all at the same time and Gwendoline would look innately regal wearing this design. Add a pair of silver sandals, finger waves, and a pink lip and this is for sure one of the chicest moments on the red carpet.
Natalie Dormer, like Jena Malone, usually brings something edgy to the red carpet. For the "Mockingjay Part 2" premiere in London I would love to see Natalie wear this amazing Roksanda Spring 2016 RTW primrose yellow "Lexie" dress which features an asymmetric high neck and a layered fringe construction throughout with a flat back and a black belted waist. I think that Natalie is one of the few women that could make this type of avant garde gown work on a red carpet. Now if she decided not to wear the belt I think that she would get lost in the froufiness of this gown, but I believe that she wont. Finish the look off very simply with a sleek updo, red lip, black clutch, and black sandals to ensure that this gown is not overtaken by the styling and keeps its awesome impact.
