2016 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 11

5 more posts of Oscar party wishes and a post for the Costume Designers Guild Awards red carpet are all that stand between the main stage wishes. I am getting more and more excited as there are a gaggle of red carpets leading up to the Academy Awards next week and the ultra glam parties that follow. Dakota Johnson has been continuously getting better and better with her red carpet looks and I am hoping that she will step out on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party next Sunday. Dakota, and her stylist, have been picking amazing gowns for her red carpet appearances lately and I am intrigued to see what they would pick for the Vanity Fair party. I would love to see Dakota step out in this ultra sexy glam black Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2016 RTW long sleeve crystal embroidered gown which has a daring plunging neckline. I believe that this classic chic gown would be very high impact on Dakota who knows how to elevate a classic look. A black Edie Parker clutch, a pair of black satin sandals, a dazzling diamond necklace, a bold red lip, chic waves, and a pair of diamond studs would just ensure that Dakota has a sultry and glamorous look on the Vanity Fair red carpet.
Jessica Biel would be a fun person to see out on the red carpet on Oscar night with hubby Justin Timberlake, giving them an ultra glam date night while a sitter stays home with the baby. Jessica has been on very few red carpets since giving birth and I have not had a major wow moment, so I think that this opportunity would make for a great chance for her to redeem herself. I think that this black and blue Atelier Versace Spring 2016 Couture strapless embroidered mermaid gown would make for such a major red carpet moment for Jessica. Some of my favorite moments from Jessica in the past have come thanks to Versace and I think that this would be another. While I know some people are wanting to see this at the main event I think that this is something more in tune to an after party and I am really hoping that Jessica gets her hands on it.
After the year she had last year I am kind of expecting to see Lea Seydoux on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party next Sunday. Lea was jettisoned to international fame after her role as a Bond girl in Spectre, the latest installation of the James Bond franchise. Earlier this year Lea was announced as a face of Louis Vuitton and I let my heart sink. Her first look with the brand was a disaster, only Alicia Vikander has had continued success as a Louis Vuitton ambassador, so I am hoping since it is going to be Alicia's big night that Lea takes to the red carpet in another brand. I would love to see Lea in a custom Prada or Miu Miu gown or this amazing emerald green Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture fulled embellished gown with a 3/4 length sleeve. This is a regal red carpet moment waiting to happen and I think that Lea would punctuate that regality perfectly. A sleek hairstyle, a red lip, and diamond cluster earrings would finish this regal moment with ease.
I am interested to see what Nicole Kidman will wear on Oscar night. I am betting that she wears one look all night from the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party (which she is one of the events co-chairs) to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party after the ceremony. Nicole usually sticks to one look and I am hoping that it is something that I love. I think that soft dusty pink Gucci Pre-Fall 2016 puffy sleeve gown with bow detailing on the bodice and subtle print. I think it would take a woman with regal presence to make this gown work on the red carpet and Nicole has it, when she wants it. I think that this would make for a very old Hollywood moment as the gown evokes the styles of the 1940's, so I think a chic vintage inspired bob, fresh faced makeup, a gold clutch, pair of gold sandals, and yellow gold set diamond cluster earrings would ensure that Nicole has a great night on the red carpet.
Saoirse Ronan might be the nominated actress that I am most worried about when it comes to her Oscar night style. I think that the actress and Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue cover star will most likely go short for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. After a glam gown on the main stage I would love to see Saoirse wearing this black and silver Burberry Pre-Fall 2016 gown with beautiful beaded fringe gown on the red carpet at Vanity Fair. I think that this kind of relaxed modern flapper look would be a perfect look for an after party. Keep the styling along the lines of a modern flapper with a sleek ponytail, a smoky eye, black clutch, and a pair of simple black sandals and Saoirse would have an after party look worthy of an Oscar nominated actress.

Best Dressed at the 2016 BAFTA Awards

The BAFTA Awards took place the the Royal Opera House in London last night and Hollywood stars were out in full force. Cate Blanchett, who was nominated for Best Actress, showed up and my heart stopped beating. I have been waiting for a moment like this from Cate since the Cannes Film Festival and she finally gave me a drop dead gorgeous look that reminded me why I call her my red carpet queen. Queen Cate wore a custom Alexander McQueen gown which featured a floral embroidered denim blouse and black feathered skirt. This gown was actually a meshing of two looks from the Alexander McQueen Spring 2016 RTW collection, the bodice and the feathered skirt. This gown meshed those two looks together and Cate made it work with much ease. Cate finished her amazing look with black Giuseppe Zanotti pumps and Tiffany & Co. jewelry.
Julianne Moore was a close second to Cate wearing an amazing black and white custom Armani Prive halter mermaid gown. Julianne has the ability to make so many different types of looks work on the red carpet and here she displays classic glamour. I love that the redheaded actress paired this gown with a pair of emerald Chopard earrings. I always say when you go monochromatic that you you should always add a pop of color and the emerald earrings did a great job at that along with the hot pink lip color that Julianne wore with her gown.

Saoirse Ronan has been very pretty all awards season but she showed that she can hang with the real big style stars yesterday at the BAFTA Awards. Saoirse wore an absolutely amazing hand beaded firework pattern custom Burberry strapless column gown that she paired with a statement Chopard necklace set with 275 carats fancy colored sapphires, 82 carats fancy colored briolette-cut sapphires, 11 carats round shaped rose-cut diamonds, and 5 carats of pear shaped diamonds. Her deliberately messy elegant updo, smoky eye, and Chopard yellow diamond cocktail ring all rounded off a look that finally made me take notice of the stunning actress.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke stepped out on the BAFTA Awards red carpet and she did do in fine style wearing a very beautiful red Victoria Beckham gown. Emilia was a presenter last night and I believe that she chose to go with this gown to not overshadow all the nominees, but she slayed the red carpet. A Jimmy Choo clutch and Tiffany & Co. diamonds finished this look.
Olga Kurylenko was another of the stunning guests at the BAFTA Awards yesterday. She wore a beautiful white Ralph & Russo Spring 2016 Couture short sleeve embroidered sheer gown with a portrait neckline. I was a little hesitant to love this look because Olga has already worn a similar Ralph & Russo gown before but I think that this is just so chic that I can not ignore it. All the elements of this look from the voluminous waves to the Ralph & Russo clutch just scream glamour and that is why she is on this list.

On any other woman I probably would have said that this orange lace Erdem Pre-Fall 2016 floral embroidered gown would have been inappropriate for the BAFTA Awards but model Dree Hemingway has such a cool girl status for her sense of style that she makes it work. I can only picture someone like Florence Welch being able to sell this gown to me, but I am glad that Dree brought something different to the BAFTA red carpet. I applaud her for taking such a risk.

We are so used to seeing very flirty and feminine looks from Alicia Vikander so I have to give a round of applause for this custom Louis Vuitton crystal embellished leather gown. Inspired by the Spring 2016 RTW collection, it is not something I would have ever pictured on Alicia but she does it an insane amount of justice. This sexy side of Alicia is something that I am hoping that we will see this side of her a little more on the red carpet.
I had never heard of Bel Powley before the BAFTA Awards red carpet last night but I guess I will have to start taking notice of the EE Rising Star nominee as she hit the red carpet wearing a custom Gucci multicolored striped lurex plisse gown. This is another of those looks that I would not pick for the BAFTA Awards but on Bel, who is 23, made me stop and swoon when I saw her on the carpet.

I think the biggest shock for me is that I am including Rooney Mara in my Best Dressed list. Rooney has failed to excite me this awards season but I was quite drawn to her oyster colored Givenchy Spring 2016 Couture. It is reminiscent of looks that she has worn recently but I think that this time all her styling was on point. I appreciate that it was something visually interesting and not another basic white, black, or nude gown.

I am going to start off with saying that I love Dakota Johnson wearing this stunning red Christian Dior gown, but I was a little underwhelmed. Dakota looked beautiful but I was expecting a little more from the EE Rising Star who had been delivering red carpet hit after red carpet hit recently. I almost wish that she had switched this with her gold Marc Jacobs gown she wore last week, it would have caused me to push her up this list a few spaces.

2016 BAFTA Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

I am already anticipating all of the glamour that will be on the red carpets this weekend as the Pre-Grammy Awards parties will be in full force and then there are the BAFTA Awards on Sunday night. I love this weekend because you really see the difference from film and music red carpets. I am putting my money on the BAFTA Awards being the more glamorous of the events. I would love to see Best Leading Actress nominee Alicia Vikander give a nod to the era of her film The Danish Girl by wearing this red Valentino Spring 2016 Couture gown. The moment that I saw this gown come down the runway I immediately pictured Alicia wearing this gown on the red carpet, and since I am sure that she won't wear anything other than Louis Vuitton for the Oscars why not wear this stunning creation at the BAFTA Awards. This gown would just hang on Alicia with such a relaxed effortless glamour that I would die from how glamorous she is. Finish the look with a pair of gold Louis Vuitton sandals, a vintage inspired updo, and classic makeup and this will for sure be a best dressed look on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards.
I am not sure if Angelina Jolie will step out on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday night but I am holding out hope since hubby Brad Pitt is nominated as a producer of The Big Short. As many know I have a love/loathe relationship with Angelina as she tends to bore me on the red carpet but I think that this white Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture strapless flowing gown would make for a stunning and chic moment for her to support her husband at the BAFTA Awards. Angelina does classic glamour with much ease and I think that this gown would punctuate her signature glamour perfectly. I would give Angelina old Hollywood waves, a pair of silver pumps, a red lip, and a pair of diamond drop earrings to ensure that she has a major red carpet moment.
Brie Larson has had two very glamorous modern red carpet moments this awards season so for the BAFTA Awards on Sunday I would love to see her give something a little different. I picked this romantic black and green Oscar de la Renta Spring 2016 RTW halter neck tiered organza and lace embroidered gown for Brie to wear on the BAFTA Awards red carpet. A year ago I don't think that I would have picked this dress for Brie because I would have said it was too complicated for her but she is now starting to prove her red carpet chops and now I think she has the red carpet confidence to wear this gown and make it work with great aplomb. A pair of black satin sandals, a black clutch, Tiffany & Co. diamond earrings, a very chic sleek updo, and a red lip would just add the perfect punctuations to this romantic look.
Cate Blanchett did not give me anything that really blew me away on the only major that she has graced this awards season so far. Her light pink Givenchy Couture fringe gown just didn't speak to me and I was disappointed that Cate did not show up for the SAG Awards. I am hoping that she will make the jaunt out to London for the BAFTA Awards on Sunday giving her the opportunity to redeem herself before the Oscars. I picked this black Giambattista Valli Spring 2016 Couture sleeves draped gown chic features a light pink waist and an embellished houndstooth detail on the bodice. Cate has worn Giambattista in the past and it has been quite the treat and I think this classic glam look would put Cate back in my good graces. Finish the look with a pink Roger Vivier clutch, a pair of black Roger Vivier satin sandals, a vintage inspired bob, a pink lip, diamond drop earrings, and a diamond cuff bracelet and Cate will shut this red carpet down.
Finally for today I have my wish for EE Rising Star Award nominee Dakota Johnson. Dakota has been blowing me away recently and I am hoping that continues when she steps out on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday. With great working relationships with Dior, Saint Laurent, & Gucci it would seem most likely that she will wear a custom gown by one of those brands but I picked this tan Chanel Spring 2016 Couture tea length tiered gown for Dakota to wear for this red carpet. While most would not deem this tea length formal enough for the British version of the Academy Awards but I think that since Dakota is only nominated in the Rising Star category that this is a perfect look for her. I think that with the right styling that this look has the potential to be one of the best. Silky old Hollywood waves strewn over one shoulder, a red lip, a pair of gold sandals, gold clutch, and a pair of diamond earrings set in yellow gold would just punctuate this chic glamorous look perfect for Dakota on the BAFTA Awards red carpet.

You Better Werk!: Dakota Johnson at the "How To Be Single" NYC Premiere in Saint Laurent

Dakota Johnson was the epitome of boho chic meets Studio 54 glamour at the New York City premiere of How To Be Single wearing custom Saint Laurent. I will be the first to say that I have not been the biggest fan of Dakota's red carpet styling but recently she has been hitting her mark every single time that she steps out on the red carpet. This nude Saint Laurent gown embellished with silver stars just made me smile. Everything about this look was absolutely perfect, from the pulled back waves and the soft browns of her makeup to the Fred Leighton rings and Judith Leiber clutch. I continue to enjoy seeing Dakota on the red carpet and I hope that she just keeps getting better.

Best Dressed of January 2016

Well we have the first Best Dressed list for a month. Just as a friendly reminder I don't include the major red carpets that I cover in different capacities over the blog, like the Golden Globe or SAG Awards, so that I can allow for some of the other beautiful looks that grace red carpets around the world. Topping the Best Dressed of January list is Dakota Johnson who was so flirty and feminine on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon wearing a Gucci Spring 2016 RTW cocktail dress. I have been on one side or the other but I finally believe that Dakota Johnson is finding her red carpet footing on the red carpet and I am starting to love her almost every time that she steps out. This was the look that firmly cemented her in my one to watch podium.
When Awards Season 2016 kicked off at the Palm Springs International Awards Gala I was very taken by Cate Blanchett in her custom Marc Jacobs gown. I found this vintage inspired gown to be something that Cate was absolutely enchanting wearing. Since then I have been very let down by Cate and I am hoping that she gets back on her red carpet footing before the Academy Awards at the end of this month.

Jourdan Dunn earns her first post on the blog in a coveted Best Dressed spot thanks to her absolutely beautiful Burberry look that she wore to sit front row at the Burberry Fall 2016 Menswear presentation. I love everything about this look from the fur vest to the olive shirt dress to the strappy Burberry sandals and the absolutely stunning hair and makeup. Sometimes front row fashions can go too over the top but this look feels authentic to Jourdan's personal style.

Last year through awards season Rosamund Pike really didn't wow me but I was finally blown away by one of her look with this sizzling crimson Azzedine Alaia gown which she wore to the IWC 'Come Fly with us' Gala Dinner. This gown mixed chic sex appeal with classic glamour. I am usually not a fan of Alaia on the red carpet but this gown was one of the absolutely best Alaia moments on the red carpet ever.
Alicia Vikander has been consistently showing up on the red carpets this awards season looking absolutely fabulous. While her Golden Globes and SAG Awards gowns might have been dictated to be Louis Vuitton based on her contract Alicia strays from the brand for some of the smaller red carpet parties. For the W Magazine celebration of the 'Best Performances' Portfolio and The Golden Globes Alicia wore a stunning Marc Jacobs Resort 2016 abstract floral print cocktail dress. I love that Alicia gives me a varied number of different styles of looks so it was hard picking which of her looks was going to feature on this list and this Marc Jacobs dress just took the cake.

The People's Choice Awards are usually a more laid back and and casual event so when major movie star Kate Hudson stepped out I was extremely intrigued to see what she was going to be wearing. The strapless ivory Stella McCartney tuxedo inspired jumpsuit that she wore for the red carpet was something that really spoke to me. I love to see Kate in these relaxed high glam type of looks as her boho glam type of style really shows through in this type of look.

December was really a great month for Star Wars: The Force Awakens breakout star Daisy Ridley and I actually made an exception to add this stunning purple Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2016 floral gown which she wore to the films premiere in Tokyo as she wore it after my Best Dressed of the Year list was posted but still before the first of the year. Daisy has already cemented her fashionista credentials by wearing looks from coveted brands like Chanel, Dior and Giambattista Valli but it was this complicated gown that I only pictured Diane Kruger pulling off that really made Daisy the "It" girl for me. I am kinda hoping that she gets the call to present at the Oscars.
Tessa Thompson knows exactly what to do to blow me away for a major movie premiere. She took one of my favorite gowns from the Marc Jacobs Spring 2016 RTW collection and went all old Hollywood with the styling letting the abstract gown do all of the talking for the London premiere of Creed. I had high expectations for Tessa for this premiere and she definitely did not let me down.

The addition of Diane Kruger to this list for her stunning Giambattista Valli Spring 2015 Couture cocktail dress worn to the Sidaction Gala might be a little self serving because I posted a prediction just the day before that she would wear this on the red carpet on Pinterest and I love when my wishes come true. Diane always knows how to work a more complicated look and this definitely could have gone in a bad direction but her classic styling with pulled back waves, red lip, silver clutch, and strappy Giambattista Valli sandals just ensured that this was a stunning look on Diane.

I welcome Gigi Hadid to the ranks of women who have made it to my Best Dressed list with her wearing one of my favorite looks from the Sally Lapointe Pre-Fall 2016 collection for the 'The Power Of Colors' MAYBELLINE New York Make-Up Runway show. As it was an event for Maybelline, which Gigi is a face of, her hair and makeup were on point and I do not begrudge her pointed pumps with the feathered details of the gown. Gigi took this complicated gown and wore it with such ease that it was simple for me to award her a spot on this list.

Who was your best dressed? You can see all the looks that I considered for this list over on my Facebook page, and I would love to know who is on your list.

2016 People's Choice Awards Red Carpet Roundup

People's Choice Awards 2016 Red Carpet
So last night the first televised awards show of the year kicked off, the People's Choice Awards. I am not going to spend too much time because this red carpet was a mishmosh of crap with a few hidden gems. The big surprise for me was just how many women showed up wearing full on gowns when the dress code for the People's Choice Awards is usually much more relaxed casual/cocktail attire. My favorite look of the night was Kate Hudson in her cream Stella McCartney tuxedo jumpsuit followed by Dakota Johnson in Armani Prive Spring 2014 Couture. Surprise favorites were Meghan Trainor in Balmain Fall 2015 RTW and Kat Graham in David Koma. I was disappointed in Priyanka Chopra as her Vera Wang Spring 2016 RTW dress reminded me of a major Carey Mulligan in Prada moment from a few Met Gala's ago, and Carey wore it better. Everyone else failed to excite. My worst dressed at the event was Keke Palmer who looked like she was auditioning for a role on the next Star Wars film with her rat tail/Jedi braid and Yousef Al Jasmi Spring 2016 Couture top and skirt which looks like something leftover from the 80's. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come this year.

2016 People's Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

At the People's Choice Awards next Wednesday I am interested to see what Dakota Johnson will wear on the red carpet as she is nominated for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress thanks to 50 Shades of Grey and she is also going to be presenting. People's Choice is a more casual version of an awards show so I think that this black Michael Kors Spring 2016 RTW shirt dress embellished with neck ribbons and grommets on the tiered skirt. This is a casual meets cocktail type of look and with the right styling I think that this dress would be perfect on Dakota for the People's Choice Awards red carpet. Keeping the runways belt and adding a pair of strappy sandals, a slicked back bun, and a red lip would ensure that Dakota keeps up the love I have of her on the People's Choice red carpet.
After nabbing the number 2 spot on my Best Dressed of the Year list it would seem that Emmy Rossum has a lot to live up to in 2016 and I know that she can handle the pressure. I am hoping that the actress, who thanks to her show Shameless, is nominated for the Favorite Premium Cable TV Actress will take to the red carpet at the 2016 People's Choice Awards. To keep up her flirty feminine style what better look to choose than this Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall marigold and blush 3D guipure lace sleeveless dress. The moment I saw this dress in the lookbook I put it on reserve for Emmy so I really hope that she works her magic and gets her hands on this fantastic flirty dress. While I appreciate that Monique was trying to make this look more modern with the ankle boots, I would pair this look with a chic pair of simple gold sandals, a pink lip, and a gold metallic clutch to finish this look off perfectly for Emmy.
Like Dakota, Jennifer Lopez is nominated for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress at the People's Choice Awards next Wednesday. We all know JLo has a flair for the dramatic and the sexy and this Naeem Khan Spring 2016 RTW gunmetal grey beaded chiffon halter jumpsuit is exactly what she would wear for an event like this. I know many are looking for something new from Jennifer but I know that when she does what she knows best, at it's best, that she truly shines on the red carpet. I would have Jennifer wear hear hair sleek with this jumpsuit adding minimal accessories like a pair of metallic gunmetal grey Jimmy Choo sandals and a red lip to ensure that this is JLo at her best and nothing less.
Julianne Hough has been on a lot of red carpets recently and I do not know why, at the People's Choice Awards she will be attending as a presenter with her Grease: Live co-stars Vanessa Hudgens and Carly Rae Jepsen. I am hoping that the try hardness that came with most of her looks in 2015 will be absent on the red carpet at the People's Choice Awards. I picked this black and white floral printed J. Mendel Spring 2016 RTW ensemble that consists of a chiffon micro-pleated blouse and mini skirt. This is the perfect look to help Julianne kick off 2016 in the right way, it is chic and simple and perfectly event appropriate. A pair of silver pumps or sandals and a silver Edie Parker clutch would be the perfect accessories to add to this look with chic simple curls and a pink lip to ensure that Julianne has a magical moment on the red carpet.
Kate Hudson will be on hand at the 2016 People's Choice Awards as a presenter. This news was very exciting to me because Kate had a GREAT year on the red carpet in 2015 and I am excited to see what 2016 will bring to her. I decided to pair Kate with the brand that landed her on the 2015 Best Dressed of the Year list for this red carpet, Versace. I think that since that Kate is a big movie star and not overly showy that this Versace Pre-Fall 2016 black pencil dress with detailed top which has a bit of sky blue in the featured spaghetti straps. This is the chic sexy look that I know Kate has the body and presence for. Finished with a pair of sky blue Jimmy Choo pumps, a black clutch, and a lightly smokey eye will finish this look off perfectly for this red carpet.

Best Dressed of November 2015

If you don't know the November Best Dressed list the end of the year for If I Was A Stylist. I take looks from December of the previous year through November of the current year into consideration for my Best Dressed of the Year list. Starting tomorrow the End of the Year Style Awards will start posting with Best Transformation. Topping the Best Dressed of November list is Lea Seydoux who looked very much the part of a Bond girl wearing a red custom Miu Miu off the shoulder chiffon at the "Spectre" premiere in Mexico City. I was a little concerned with Lea only wearing Miu/Miu and Prada during this promo tour and thus becoming a one note but each look that Lea put out was more glamorous than the last and this was the piece du resistance.
Spanish supermodel Nieves Alvarez, who has long been a favorite of mine (often giving looks worthy of being on my Best Dressed of the Year list), attended the Vanity Fair Awards in Madrid wearing a custom Stephane Rolland Couture gown which masters illusion neckline which she paired with an Yliana Yepez clutch, Torricao Alta Joyeria jewels and a Santiago Del Palacio fur. Nieves for sure showed us how it is done as this is the perfect way to wear white going into the winter season. The big shock of the month for me was how amazingly beautiful that Heidi Klum looked on the red carpet of the Bambi Awards wearing a custom eggplant Zac Posen strapless structured ball gown. Heidi has been wearing a lot of really unflattering, age inappropriate looks which have aged her more than they should so it was amazing that this gown made such a glamorous impact. Talking about glamorous impact model Arizona Muse stepped out for the British Fashion Awards wearing a Ralph & Russo Fall 2015 couture embroidered cap sleeve crop top and high waisted palazzo pants. Arizona took this modern take on a classic look and went full on old Hollywood movie star glam with her hair and make-up which just made this look even more beautiful.
Kiernan Shipka is always the most amazingly dress teenager on the red carpet. She attended the Guggenheim International Gala Pre-Party wearing a Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture embroidered and embellished cocktail dress. What other 16 year old can work this dress on red carpet with such class and confidence. Kiernan is definitely getting better and better with each red carpet that she steps out on and I am excited to continue to see her grow. Stephanie Sigman was an unknown to me prior to the "Spectre" promo tour but after wearing one of my favorite Marchesa looks for the London premiere and this absolutely stunning red custom Armani Prive long sleeve structured gown, it is safe to say that she has put her foot in the cement of being a fashion darling. Solange is one of my favorite ladies to see on the red carpet. She gives some of the looks that you would only see fashion folks wearing during fashion week on the red carpet. On the red carpet for the Louis XIII Celebration of ‘100 Years’ The Movie You Will Never See, Solange rocked a tangerine Milly Spring 2016 RTW off the shoulder pencil dress with flamenco sleeves that she paired with a gold box clutch, neutral sandals, braids and an orange lip. We don't see much of Milly on the red carpet and it is looks like this from Solange that makes me question why we don't.
While I loved Kiernan's dress at the Guggenheim International Gala Pre-Party it was Dakota Johnson in her white Christian Dior gown with a silver embellished bodice at the Guggenheim International Gala Dinner that took my breath away. Only a day away and such vastly different looks this has got to be my favorite look from Dakota as she keeps getting better with her red carpet dressing. I am actually looking forward to seeing what she is going to bring next year. Elizabeth Banks started the final promo tour for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 in high style wearing a floral Elie Saab Fall 2015 Couture spaghetti strap ball gown for the films premiere in Berlin. This is a perfect red carpet moment to close a major film series, which is good since Jennifer Lawrence completely let me down. Finished with an Elie Saab floral crown this look is in definite contention for Best Dressed of the Year. Kerry Washington made a very disappointing night on the red carpet from the Academy Governors Awards into something interesting wearing a black organza Giambattista Valli Fall 2015 Couture sheer ball gown with pink floral embellishments to the Baby2Baby Gala. Usually we see some very pretty dresses, which there were many pretty gowns, but Kerry brought a dramatic red carpet moment. Kerry plus Giambattista Valli Couture = amazing.
I am currently looking for feedback from my readers if you wouldn't mind taking a quick six question survey I would be greatly appreciative of that, you can take it by clicking here.

Best Dressed of September 2015

September was a crazy month on the red carpets we had plenty of premieres (major Oscar campaigns have started), fashion weeks, papal visits, and lots of product endorsements that went along with the Venice Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, and the Emmy Awards. I decided to take the Venice, Toronto, and Emmy Awards red carpets out of the running (they all got their own best dressed lists) so that all the rest of these women had a chance to earn a spot. Jessica Chastain is campaigning for an Oscar nomination for her role in "The Martian" and this stunning black Elie Saab Couture gown that she paired with the most amazing emerald and diamond statement earrings at the films gala premiere in London is the perfect way to start this campaign. There is something about a redhead in black with emerald earrings that just sings to me. Tell me when I would ever put a black dress at the top of a best dressed list? Surprisingly has happened a few times this year because these stars are doing them so well. Can anyone else remember Cate Blanchett in Margiela at the Oscars?
Solange Knowles made her rounds during New York Fashion Week. She was spotted on her way to the 3.1 Phillip Lim show wearing a hot off the runway Zimmermann Spring 2016 RTW white lace dress that she paired with the most awesome Schutz ‘Karlyanna’ cut-out boots and white plastic rim sunglasses. This is a perfect look for Solange. I love that she is not afraid to take fashion risks and that she does so many different styles on the red carpet and she works each one just as well as the next.

I have to give credit where credit is due to Dakota Johnson. I have not been a big fan of the actress on the red carpet since she first came around, but her white Balenciaga Resort 2016 strapless bell shaped cocktail dress at the "Black Mass" premiere in Boston was PERFECTION. I remember looking at Dakota in this ensemble and saying FINALLY a look worthy of a movie star. She knocked this look out of the red carpet ballpark styling it perfectly with that sleek hair, red lips, a beautiful Van Cleef & Arpels diamond necklace, and silver Bally sandals. There is not a single thing about this look that I would change, and that is something I have never said about one of Dakota's red carpet looks.

If you are an avid reader of this blog then you know that I LOVE Amal Clooney. I was sadly disappointed with her Christian Dior gown at the Golden Globe Awards but she has given so many other amazing looks this year that I am over that transgression. Last week she was spotted out on a date night with hubby George in New York City looking sexy, yet very chic, in green Versace Fall 2015 RTW that she paired with matching Jimmy Choo sandals. If I were a woman Amal would be one of my style icons and this look just shows why, she is not on a red carpet, she is not working, she is just out on a date with her husband and she is on fleek.
There is a love/hate relationship with Prada gowns on the red carpet. When Emily Blunt stepped out on the red carpet at the "Sicario" premiere in London I let out a yelp of elation as this red embellished custom Prada gown is perfection. Emily has had some amazing Prada moments on the red carpet but this has to top that list. She looks chic and elegant while being extremely modern at the same time.

Jennifer Hudson had her most beautiful look ever, in my opinion, when she took to the state at Madison Square Garden to perform "Hallelujah" for the Pope's mass in New York City. This custom blue Prabal Gurung gown and cape (gives off MAJOR Giambattista Valli Couture vibes) was a perfect look for such a demure occasion. I love when JHud gives us full glamour and that is exactly what she gave us with this look.

Kate Bosworth stepped out on the red carpet at the Atlanta premiere of "90 Minutes In Heaven" giving us 1950's socialite glamour. Her beautiful gold brocade Schiaparelli Fall 2015 Couture tea length gown gives off very vintage vibes and styled with a sleek low bun, orange lip, gold clutch, & Nicholas Kirkwood gold pumps all perfectly punctuated her beautiful ensemble.
Lady Gaga made shock waves wearing a simple black gown by her stylist Brandon Maxwell, whom presented his first runway collection during New York Fashion Week, for the Emmy Awards. Gaga also wore a gown from Maxwell's Spring 2016 RTW collection for the Fox Emmy Awards After-Party, but instead of the runways black version she oped for a white strapless gown with a voluminous shawl. It seems like her TV time is starting to make her more demure and sophisticated, but I love that this look still has that touch of signature Gaga drama.

Squeezing into this list at the last minute was Charlize Theron who stepped out to be a "The Power of an Educated Girl" panelist. Charlize wowed me by taking a rare step out at a public appearance not wearing Dior. The face of "J'Adore Dior" is almost exclusively dressed by the brand so I cherish the moments where she steps out of that box and gives us something else. This Erdem Resort 2016 black, white, & blue floral shift dress is beautiful and demure perfect for a panel that also included the First Lady of the United States. Her side part pixie, oxblood lip, & simple black Christian Louboutin pumps were the perfect way to style this look to ensure that she was event appropriate.

Finally there is Nicole Kidman who attended the OMEGA ‘Her Time’ Q&A session in Milan wearing a Giambattista Valli Fall 2015 RTW ensemble. As the face of OMEGA watches I have to say that Nicole did her part as brand ambasador quite well as this was just one of three amazing looks that she wore over the course of her duties. The victorian-esque ruffled organza and floral macrame blouse paired with a printed skirt and a pair of black Christian Louboutin sandals is the perfect look to wear for a Q&A session.

Overall August was a very very busy month for the red carpets and I had a hard time narrowing down my options just to 10. Head over to to the Facebook page to see all of the looks considered in putting this list together.

2015 London Film Festival: "Black Mass" Premiere Wish List

I saw "Black Mass" a few weeks ago and it was one of the best films that I have seen in a very long time. With that being said I have been kinda loving some of the looks that Dakota Johnson has been wearing on the red carpet while promoting this film. For the London Film Festival premiere of the film I would love to see Dakota wear this marigold sweetheart lace and floral embroidered Oscar de la Renta Resort 2016 strapless crepe bustier cocktail dress. I think that this dress is a perfect for the London Film Festival, especially since the film is already released in the US market. I don't expect to see Dakota wearing gowns like she did at Venice or Toronto. I would keep the runway styling with the black belt, black simple sandals, soft waves, and punch it up with a red lip to ensure that Dakota had a perfect red carpet moment at the London Film Festival.

#TIFF2015: "Black Mass," "Forsaken," "Families," & "Brooklyn" Premieres Wish List

Dakota Johnson is going to have a busy few weeks come the end of August and the beginning of September. She has two films premiering at the Venice Film Festival then she will jet to Toronto where her film "Black Mass" is going to be presented at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. "Black Mass" is premiering at the festival as a special presentation which means that it most likely wont be as formal a premiere as a Gala. With that in mind it is still a major premiere at a major film festival so couture is expected. I picked this black Chanel Fall 2015 Couture flapper-esque cocktail dress for Dakota to wear on the red carpet because I think that this is a look that she has yet to try out on the red carpet and I do think that she would look amazing in this piece. Dakota attended the New York special presentation on the Chanel Pre-Fall 2015 collection and then wore a Chanel Couture mini dress to this years Met Gala so there is already a standing relationship between the two. I would finish this look off rather simply with a red lip, a wavy bob, simple black Christian Louboutin sandals, and a pair of diamond cluster earrings to keep in that vintage look that the dress holds.
Demi Moore stars alongside Kiefer Sutherland and Donald Sutherland in the film "Forsaken," which has a gala premiere slot at this years Toronto International Film Festival. It has been a hot minute since we have seen Demi on the red carpet and I gotta say that I am looking forward to what she might bring to the red carpet. I picked this black Prabal Gurung Resort 2016 lurex cable jacquard sleeveless gown which features a cable pattern flecked with metallic in an a-line silhouette with a square neckline and tulip high-low hem for Demi to wear for this premiere. It is a simple yet elegant statement for Demi to make on her red carpet return in a designer whom she helped launch the career of. I think that this is just dramatic enough for TIFF without being too over the top. I pray to the hair gods that Demi wears her hair up and back to showcase the neckline of this gown and I will forgive what I am sure will be a pair of boring black pumps worn with this dress.
Former fashion model turned actress Gemma Chan has been working the red carpet scene quite well recently, making splashes representing British designers mostly on her red carpet outings. Gemma will be in Toronto promoting her film "Families" and I can not wait to see what she will wear as it is expecting to be a chic colorful statement. I picked this Mary Katrantzou Resort 2016 'Amsonia" gown. This silk crepe gown features a square neck, front crossing straps and multicolor accordion pleat details coming from the front darts creating a relaxed silhouette perfect for a special presentation premiere. I would further the pops of color with a pink lip, pink sandals, and add a gold clutch for a metallic pop to ensure that no one will dull Gemma's shine.
Rounding out today's first set of wishes for the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival is Saoirse Ronan who will be presenting her film "Brooklyn" in a special presentation slot at the festival. The 21 year old Irish actress definitely marches to the beat of her own drum on the red carpet picking looks that most would fear to wear on the red carpet and I am hoping that she keeps up her avant garde look at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. With that in mind I picked this peacock like Chanel Spring 2014 Couture feathered cocktail dress. I honestly think that this dress screams for Saoirse to wear it on the red carpet and TIFF is the perfect platform to be able to do so. With such a bold dress a simple pair of black sandals, a sleek bun, and fresh faced makeup will ensure that Saoirse knocks this look out on the red carpet.

2015 Venice Film Festival: "Black Mass" Premiere Wish List

"Black Mass" is the second of two films, the first being "A Bigger Splash", that Dakota Johnson will be premireing during the 2015 Venice Film Festival and I gotta say that I am nervous because I have not been Dakota's biggest fan. For the photocall I picked this purple lace Gucci Resort 2016 shirt dress. Dakota was front row when Alessandro Michele presented his first Resort collection for Gucci back in May in New York City and I am hoping that Dakota picks up a look for two from the collection, as shown by the gown I picked for her to wear for the "A Bigger Splash" premiere. I think that Dakota should keep the look with a yellow shoe but opt for a lighter sandal for this photocall. For the premiere I picked this shocking pink Schiaparelli Spring 2015 Couture bias cut gown with a sensual abstract human anatomy print. I think that this would be an elegant offering from Dakota but I am expecting her to wear a custom Christian Dior or Saint Laurent design for this premiere. A black clutch, a pair of black sandals, simple diamond drop earrings, and a light pink lippie would finish this look off in such an elegant way even though I expect we will see Dakota wear either black or white for her premiere.
I have to say that I am probably the most excited to see what the members of the feature film jury wear on the red carpet because Diane Kruger and Elizabeth Banks are two of my favorite to see on the red carpet and I can not wait to see what they bring to Venice. For the "Black Mass" premiere I have picked this Alberta Ferretti Fall 2015 Demi-Couture printed chiffon ballgown. The gowns print is actually taken straight from the walls of Alberta Ferretti's new Parisian offices and I have to say that there aren't many that I could see pulling this look off and Diane is one of them. Only thing that I think could put Diane off from wearing this look is the fact that Elizabeth Banks wore a similar style by Elie Saab Couture for the "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" premiere in London last year and it became one of the most buzzed about looks of the year. If Diane were to still go for this look I would pair it with a gold clutch and gold sandals and a chic updo to ensure that the look is all about the stunning gown and not the accessories.
Elizabeth Banks will look stunning I am sure at every premiere that she attends during the course of the 2015 Venice Film Festival. For the "Black Mass" premiere I chose to put Elizabeth in this stunning Alexander McQueen Resort 2016 figure hugging gown completely embellished with different flowers. I think that this is an edgy choice and if anyone can make an edgy choice look extremely glamorous it is Elizabeth, I mean she does pull off all of Effie Trinkets costumes with great aplomb in "The Hunger Games." This is a look that needs to be styled very simply. I would pair this look with a pair of black peep toe pump and a small black clutch, finishing the look with old Hollywood waves and a red lip to add a touch of glamour to the look.
