Perfect Plus One: Amal Clooney in Giambattista Valli Couture at the "Hail, Caasar!" LA Premeire

Last night in LA was the premiere of "Hail, Caesar!"and while glamizon stars like Scarlett Johansson and Tilda Swinton skipped the red carpet there was no lack of glamour thanks to the plus one's Jenna Dewan Tatum (who wore Ralph & Russo Fall 2015 Couture) and Amal Clooney. Amal showed my why I named her the Best Plus One in my End of the Year Awards wearing a cute, fun, & flirty Giambattista Valli Haute Couture cocktail dress to stand by her husband George on his big night. On most I would say that this dress would be more suited to the younger stars like Emma Stone or Natalie Portman but I think that Amal takes the twee out of this look and just gives me pure sophistication. George is lucky to have such a perfect woman as his wife. Amal shows women that you can be confident, beautiful, stylish, powerful, and smart all at the same time and I think that is part of her draw for me. I love a stylish powerful woman and Amal embodies that idea perfectly.

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Plus One

I have been impressed by Amal Clooney since she first stepped into the fashion radar at her wedding last year and she did not really let me down this year as she was the arm candy of her hubby George to awards shows, galas, movie premiere's, and other events. Amal started the year on a somber moment in a one shoulder black Christian Dior gown at the Golden Globe Awards which she paired with white gloves. Many were not a fan of this look as they said it came across more costume like. She was vastly improved, though I still liked her Globes look, at the 2015 Met Gala for the masses wearing a custom crimson Maison Margiela ruffled ball gown. Amal embraced the Chinese culture in a way that did not come across looking like a costume, which many other attendees were unable to do, and I loved it. For the Tomorrowland premiere in Tokyo Amal took Maison Marigela for another spin working a beautiful silk gown which reminded me of a 30's screen siren. For a party promoting CASAMIGO's, Georges tequila brand, Amal really sizzled wearing a vintage Versace gold chain mail cocktail dress. I don't know many that would be comfortable wearing such a daring design but Amal pulled it off with grace and elegance. Finish off the year Amal attended Our Brand is Crisis premiere in LA wearing a beautiful blush Roland Mouret ‘Zonda’ dress. What I love about Amal is that she likes to have fun with fashion and she takes risks while still being mindful that she is there to be supportive for her husband and not to have the center of attention.

I am currently looking for feedback from my readers if you wouldn't mind taking a quick six question survey I would be greatly appreciative of that, you can take it by clicking here.

Best Dressed of September 2015

September was a crazy month on the red carpets we had plenty of premieres (major Oscar campaigns have started), fashion weeks, papal visits, and lots of product endorsements that went along with the Venice Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, and the Emmy Awards. I decided to take the Venice, Toronto, and Emmy Awards red carpets out of the running (they all got their own best dressed lists) so that all the rest of these women had a chance to earn a spot. Jessica Chastain is campaigning for an Oscar nomination for her role in "The Martian" and this stunning black Elie Saab Couture gown that she paired with the most amazing emerald and diamond statement earrings at the films gala premiere in London is the perfect way to start this campaign. There is something about a redhead in black with emerald earrings that just sings to me. Tell me when I would ever put a black dress at the top of a best dressed list? Surprisingly has happened a few times this year because these stars are doing them so well. Can anyone else remember Cate Blanchett in Margiela at the Oscars?
Solange Knowles made her rounds during New York Fashion Week. She was spotted on her way to the 3.1 Phillip Lim show wearing a hot off the runway Zimmermann Spring 2016 RTW white lace dress that she paired with the most awesome Schutz ‘Karlyanna’ cut-out boots and white plastic rim sunglasses. This is a perfect look for Solange. I love that she is not afraid to take fashion risks and that she does so many different styles on the red carpet and she works each one just as well as the next.

I have to give credit where credit is due to Dakota Johnson. I have not been a big fan of the actress on the red carpet since she first came around, but her white Balenciaga Resort 2016 strapless bell shaped cocktail dress at the "Black Mass" premiere in Boston was PERFECTION. I remember looking at Dakota in this ensemble and saying FINALLY a look worthy of a movie star. She knocked this look out of the red carpet ballpark styling it perfectly with that sleek hair, red lips, a beautiful Van Cleef & Arpels diamond necklace, and silver Bally sandals. There is not a single thing about this look that I would change, and that is something I have never said about one of Dakota's red carpet looks.

If you are an avid reader of this blog then you know that I LOVE Amal Clooney. I was sadly disappointed with her Christian Dior gown at the Golden Globe Awards but she has given so many other amazing looks this year that I am over that transgression. Last week she was spotted out on a date night with hubby George in New York City looking sexy, yet very chic, in green Versace Fall 2015 RTW that she paired with matching Jimmy Choo sandals. If I were a woman Amal would be one of my style icons and this look just shows why, she is not on a red carpet, she is not working, she is just out on a date with her husband and she is on fleek.
There is a love/hate relationship with Prada gowns on the red carpet. When Emily Blunt stepped out on the red carpet at the "Sicario" premiere in London I let out a yelp of elation as this red embellished custom Prada gown is perfection. Emily has had some amazing Prada moments on the red carpet but this has to top that list. She looks chic and elegant while being extremely modern at the same time.

Jennifer Hudson had her most beautiful look ever, in my opinion, when she took to the state at Madison Square Garden to perform "Hallelujah" for the Pope's mass in New York City. This custom blue Prabal Gurung gown and cape (gives off MAJOR Giambattista Valli Couture vibes) was a perfect look for such a demure occasion. I love when JHud gives us full glamour and that is exactly what she gave us with this look.

Kate Bosworth stepped out on the red carpet at the Atlanta premiere of "90 Minutes In Heaven" giving us 1950's socialite glamour. Her beautiful gold brocade Schiaparelli Fall 2015 Couture tea length gown gives off very vintage vibes and styled with a sleek low bun, orange lip, gold clutch, & Nicholas Kirkwood gold pumps all perfectly punctuated her beautiful ensemble.
Lady Gaga made shock waves wearing a simple black gown by her stylist Brandon Maxwell, whom presented his first runway collection during New York Fashion Week, for the Emmy Awards. Gaga also wore a gown from Maxwell's Spring 2016 RTW collection for the Fox Emmy Awards After-Party, but instead of the runways black version she oped for a white strapless gown with a voluminous shawl. It seems like her TV time is starting to make her more demure and sophisticated, but I love that this look still has that touch of signature Gaga drama.

Squeezing into this list at the last minute was Charlize Theron who stepped out to be a "The Power of an Educated Girl" panelist. Charlize wowed me by taking a rare step out at a public appearance not wearing Dior. The face of "J'Adore Dior" is almost exclusively dressed by the brand so I cherish the moments where she steps out of that box and gives us something else. This Erdem Resort 2016 black, white, & blue floral shift dress is beautiful and demure perfect for a panel that also included the First Lady of the United States. Her side part pixie, oxblood lip, & simple black Christian Louboutin pumps were the perfect way to style this look to ensure that she was event appropriate.

Finally there is Nicole Kidman who attended the OMEGA ‘Her Time’ Q&A session in Milan wearing a Giambattista Valli Fall 2015 RTW ensemble. As the face of OMEGA watches I have to say that Nicole did her part as brand ambasador quite well as this was just one of three amazing looks that she wore over the course of her duties. The victorian-esque ruffled organza and floral macrame blouse paired with a printed skirt and a pair of black Christian Louboutin sandals is the perfect look to wear for a Q&A session.

Overall August was a very very busy month for the red carpets and I had a hard time narrowing down my options just to 10. Head over to to the Facebook page to see all of the looks considered in putting this list together.

2015 Golden Globe Awards: Amal, Gwyneth, Kate, Kristen, & Salma Wish List

George Clooney is going to be the recipient of this years Cecil B. DeMille award and I am hoping that new wife Amal Alamuddin-Clooney will be on his arm to support him. We all fell in love with Amal during her wedding weekend when she paraded around in designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Stella McCartney, Giambattista Valli Couture, Alexander McQueen, and Oscar de la Renta. I am hoping that we will continue to see her showcase amazing style at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night. I am picking this red and black Armani Prive Fall 2014 Couture peplum column gown. I think that this silhouette and color would look absolutely amazing on Amal who has that exotic beauty about her. A chic updo, black Stuart Weitzman 'Nudist' sandals, a black clutch, and a red lip would ensure that Amal is able to stand her own against all the nominated movie stars.
Gwyneth Paltrow will be on hand Sunday night as a presenter. The actress is no doubt going to me making the rounds as her film "Mortdecai" with Johnny Depp gets its theatrical release on January 23. I am praying that we see Gwyneth bring her certain type of exquisiteness to the red carpet. As she is just a presenter I don't imagine that she will wear an over the top red carpet look. I picked this simple black Boss Pre-Fall 2015 gown with a simple silhouette and an elegant draped chiffon cowel back. I think that this is a perfect gown for Gwyn as she will be able to breath an amazing amount of life into this black gown. A pair of dazzling diamond chandelier earrings, a diamond cuff, hair pulled up into a chic bun, a black clutch, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin sandals would finish this look perfectly for the Golden Globes red carpet.
Kate Hudson had an amazing year last year on the red carpet and I am praying that she will be bringing the same to the red carpets this year. As a presenter I would love to see Kate wear this stunning Chanel Fall 2014 Couture embellished gown. The embellishments on this gown are a mix of crystals, paillettes, and concrete beads. The gown I have heard weighs something like 85 pounds and I think that if anyone could wear this and make it look easy it is Kate. A pair of gunmetal Christian Louboutin peep toe pumps, a gunmetal Edie Parker clutch, and simple earrings are the perfect accessories for this red carpet look. Finish the look with a chic beachy updo and a bright pink lip color will ensure that Kate has an amazing red carpet moment on her hands.
Kristen Wiig tends not to be a favorite of mine when she takes to the red carpet. I am hoping that come Sunday night at the Golden Globe Awards, where she will be a presenter, that she gives me a major red carpet ensemble. I picked this Marchesa Pre-Fall 2015 embroidered ribbon lace short sleeve mermaid gown that is rendered in a nylon net and features a mermaid silhouette with a scoop neckline and allover beaded embroidery on a ribbon lace. I think that this gown would look absolutely amazing on Kristen on the Golden Globe red carpet. Keeping the look simple with a pair of basic black Stuart Weitzman 'Nudist' sandals and simple earrings will finish this look off in a perfect way for Kristen to work on the Globes red carpet.
Salma Hayek will be on hand Sunday night as well as one of the presenters at the Golden Globe Awards. I figure that the first lady of the Gucci Group will wear a custom gown from one of the brands houses like Gucci, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, or Balenciaga. Again as I have said with other stars who I am sure will wear custom I can not exactly predict, though I am predicting Gucci Premiere, what exactly the gown will look like. So instead I picked this Alexander McQueen beaded bodice strapless black gown from Bergdorf Goodman. I know that this is actually highly unlikely but I think that Salma would look stunning wearing this design.

If you want to join the conversation I will be joining Kelly from Dream In Lace with a live Twitter commentary on what all the stars are wearing. So please join me (@FutureStylist93) and Kelly (@DreamInLace) at about 5 PM EST for all kinds of fashion ID's and LOTS of snarky commentary.

2014 End of the Year Awards: Ones to Watch in 2015

My One to Watch last year, Lupita Nyong'o, did not disappoint so I am hoping that the same will be come the next year with the four ladies that I have chosen this year. Usually I try to cut it down to one but each of these ladies that are featured have me excited for the year to come for different reasons. Amal Clooney showcased her sartorial style during her wedding weekend festivities in Venice, Italy earlier this year. I am excited to see what the new Mrs. George Clooney will wear as a plus one to major events that her hubby may attend in the coming year. Up next is supermodel turned actress Cara Delevinge. The 22 year old British superstar has five movies coming out in the next year which just helps cement her "IT" girl status even more. What I love so much about Cara is that she knows how to balance glamorous red carpet dressing with her rocker edgy personality. A repeat appearance on this list is Felicity Jones. I put her on this list back when this blog first started and we really did not see her live up to that title until this year. With an awards season run, most likely ultimately ending with an Academy Award nomination, as well as two films premiering in 2015 I will be extremely excited to see if Felicity gives me the red carpet run that I have been waiting for. Last but not least we have Riley Keough. Three films, including the much anticipated "Mad Max: Fury Road" adaptation, being released in 2015. I am excited to see what the actress, who this year shunned the gown for events like the Met Ball and Cannes Film Festival, will wear for her major premieres.
