2016 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 10

This is the first Oscars in recent years where Jessica Chastain won't be on the main stage red carpet as either a nominee or presenter so I will be intrigued to see if she will step out for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. If she does I would love to see Jessica step out in this navy Schiaparelli Spring 2016 Couture asymmetrical organza gown gown. I do have the slightest reservations that these organza Schiaparelli Spring 2016 Couture gowns will all end up like the disastrous look that January Jones wore for the SAG Awards, but I believe that this gown on Jessica would look simply elegant. I think a chic simple pulled back hairstyle, diamond drop earrings, and a pair of navy peep toe pumps would be the perfect styling to ensure that Jessica has a beautiful moment on the Vanity Fair red carpet.
If Marion Cotillard steps out on the Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpet there is a big question one must ask, will she wear Dior? Marion usually saves Dior for her big red carpet appearances and I wonder that since she isn't nominated or presenting at the Oscars if she would continue to shun Dior on the Vanity Fair red carpet. I am hoping that is the case and the French beauty selects this white Ralph & Russo Spring 2016 Couture fitted cocktail dress with floral embroidered voluminous sleeves. I tend to enjoy Marion's more avant garde fashion choices and this is definitely a very chic avant garde style. Marion wears clothes so well that I am hoping that she gets her hands on this stunning creation. Keeping the styling simple with a pair of silver Christian Dior pumps and a pair of Dior Fine Jewelry drop earrings (so she can still represent her brand on the red carpet) as well as a chic updo and a red lip would ensure that Marion is a bright star on the Vanity Fair red carpet.
Naomi Watts is one that either looks incredibly perfect for is a little to disheveled for my taste. I am hoping that if Naomi steps out on Oscar night that she is as glamorous as ever. I would love to see Naomi walk the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party wearing this amazing mauve Armani Prive Spring 2016 Couture tiered crystal embroidered dress, which gives distinct flapper vibes. I think that this classically pretty dress would be the most amazing choice for Naomi to make as when she wears Armani she almost always shuts the red carpet down. A navy satin clutch, simple silver sandals, diamond drop earrings, & classic beauty would ensure that Naomi has the perfect red carpet moment.
Last year Solange Knowles was out on Oscar night and there wasn't a single look of hers that I actually liked seeing her wearing. I am usually such a hug fan of Solange's style so it was a big shocked that I didn't like either of her red carpet looks at last years Oscars and Vanity Fair Party. I think for next Sunday's Vanity Fair party I would love to see Solange wearing this amazing Christian Dior Spring 2016 Couture ensemble which includes a yellow flamenco ruffle long sleeve cold shoulder embroidered blouse and black and white fitted embroidered pants. Solange is one of the few women who I would love to see wearing pants on Oscar night and this is perfect. A pair of simple black pumps and her signature afro would finish this look perfectly for Solange.
Zendaya is another star who I am sure we will see on Oscar night as she also has never met a red carpet that she didn't like. The focus of Zendaya last year was all about her dreadlocks, and at the Grammy's it was all about her mullet. I am hoping that if she steps out on Oscar night it is about how fabulous she looks. I would love to see Zendaya wearing this purple Haney Fall 2016 RTW sexy cutout gown with a jeweled halter. I get some major Cavalli vibes form this look and I think it is the perfect style look for the music star on the Vanity Fair red carpet. A gold clutch, a pair of gold sandals, with her knew blonde bowl cut and a smokey eye would be the perfect finishing touches for this look, and for Zendaya on the Vanity Fair red carpet.

2016 Film Independet Spirit Awards Red Carpet Wish List

The day before the Academy Awards the stars of independent cinema will be out in full force on under a tent on Santa Monica beach for the 2016 Film Independent Spirit Awards. The Independent Spirit Awards is a more relaxed event before the big night at the Oscars so we will be bound to see some amazing cocktail looks on the red carpet. Brie Larson is nominated for Best Female Lead thanks to her Oscar nominated performance in Room. I picked this black Christopher Kane Spring 2016 draped halter neck cocktail dress which is given a little visual interest via the multi-colored zip ties at the waist. I love this glamour meets industrial look that I think Brie would look absolutely amazing wearing it on the red carpet. I would finish the look off with a pair of statement pumps in one of the colors from the zip ties, fresh faced makeup, and chic pushed back waves to ensure that Brie has the perfect look for the Spirit Awards red carpet.
I am very happy that Cate Blanchett will be getting back on the red carpet after skipping the Critics Choice and SAG Awards she is confirmed to attend every event she is nominated for between the BAFTA Awards tomorrow night and the Academy Awards. For the Film Independent Spirit Awards I am expecting that Cate will be the most glamorous member of the red carpet, but she has been faltering recently so I am holding out hope. The moment I saw this cream Christian Dior Spring 2016 Couture ruffled gown which features a blue and yellow embellished blouse my mind started screaming for Cate to wear it and I think that the Spirit Awards would be the perfect platform for her to give this gown a beautiful red carpet moment. The classic fit and the sculptural beauty of this dress make it something that I am very intrigued to see Cate wearing on the red carpet. I would just add a pair of gold pumps, a pink lip, & a vintage inspired bob will ensure that Cate is red carpet perfection.
A Cynthia Nixon appearance on the red carpet is a very rare thing so I am very interested to see what she is going to wear come the Film Independent Spirit Awards on the red carpet. Usually Cynthia wears Carolina Herrera on the red carpet and I bet you she does the same for the Spirit Awards. While I had to schedule this post prior to the Carolina Herrera Fall 2016 show but I think that this black pleated tea length wool dress from the Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2016 belted dress is something that I can absolutely picture her wearing. It is such a simple dress that I am hoping that Cynthia would pair it with a great pair of floral printed pumps and a pink lip to add a little punch to this look.
Usually I don't like what Elizabeth Olsen wears on the red carpet and I am hoping that when she steps out on the Independent Spirit Awards that she gives me something that I can actually get behind. I picked this black lace Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2016 one shoulder cocktail dress which features a zipper detail on the hip. I have a deep love for this dress so I am hoping that Elizabeth makes this dress shine like I know it can on the red carpet. I would probably have the hemline brought up just a little so that the length doesn't cut her off when she puts on a pair of gold pumps to finish this look off for a perfect Spirit Awards red carpet.
Jessica Chastain has always been a favorite of mine on the red carpet and she has been very much missed on the red carpets this awards season so I am very excited to see what the stunning redhead and this year's honorary event chair will wear on the red carpet. This red ruffled Michael Kors Spring 2016 RTW cocktail dress will be old news by the time that this red carpet rolls around but I am still hoping that Jessica wears it on the red carpet. I picked this dress because it embodies everything that the Independent Spirit Awards red carpet embodies. It's fun, flirty, glamorous, relaxed, and elegant. Keep the styling simple with a pair of gold strappy sandals, relaxed waves, and a red lip and Jessica will make a triumphant return to the red carpet.
I am done expecting anything great out of Rooney Mara but I am going to keep on dreaming I think that this white Jason Wu Spring 2016 RTW ruffled cocktail dress is something that is absolutely perfect on the red carpet for the Spirit Awards. I think that this dress is something that Rooney would wear but since it is something I want her to wear I doubt that she will. I figure that Rooney would bring this look down with black sandals when it really needs silver sandals and a red lip to ensure that it is a beautiful red carpet moment.

2016 AFI Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

The possibility of seeing January Jones at the 2016 AFI Awards on January 8, 2016 is quite good because Mad Men, which aired it's last episode in 2015, is going to be honored with a special AFI Award. When she first came onto the red carpet scene at the start of Mad Men, January was one of the stars to watch but she ended up faltering but at the end she seemed to be doing the right red carpet tricks to gain my eye again. I am excited to see what January will bring to the red carpet and I think that this chic Peter Pilotto Spring 2016 RTW off-the shoulder printed cocktail ensemble is perfect for this more laid back type of a red carpet. This is such a flirty, summery style that eyes would undoubtedly move over to January as the cast takes one last photo together. I would finish this look with Veronica Lake waves, a pink lip, and a pair of fun gold and blue dotted Charlotte Olympia sandals so that January adds another unexpected pop to this look for the red carpet.
After so elegantly promoting The Martian last year, her black Elie Saab Couture gown almost made my Best Dressed of the Year list, I am hoping that Jessica Chastain will be on hand at the AFI Awards next Friday. Jessica had a really elegant year last year and I am always intrigued at what she is going to show up on the red carpet wearing. For this event I would love to see Jessica wearing this saffron yellow Oscar de la Renta Spring 2016 RTW jewel neck gathered waist lace dress. This is such a lady like ensemble and it is very daring for a red head to wear yellow on the red carpet, but if anyone would be able to make it work it would be Jessica. The color combo is such a major statement that I would just finish this look off with a pair of gold Charlotte Olympia 'Monroe' leather pumps, old Hollywood waves, and a red lip to ensure that Jessica kills the AFI Awards red carpet.
I think the person I am most excited to see at the AFI Awards is former Mad Men star and rising fashion star Kiernan Shipka. I have never had a 16 year old almost make my best dressed of the year list but Kiernan came really close with the Dior Couture ensemble that she wore to the Emmy's. I have been loving seeing Kiernan continue to give us stunning look after stunning look. For this red carpet I would love to see Kiernan show up wearing this Gucci Pre-Fall 2016 lace shift dress which features a peter pan collar, black ribbon bow, and lace ruffles on the blouse. This is a look that I think only a couple of stars could end up pulling off and Kiernan is at the top of the list of those that I think that can. Finished simply with a pair of nude fine glitter fabric Jimmy Choo 'Lorelai' pumps with champagne flower embellishments to keep the pretty air of this look going.
It has really been a hot minute since Kirsten Dunst has given me a real wow moment on the red carpet. While the AFI Awards, where Kirsten's show Fargo is being honored, is not where I am expecting her to wow me it is the place to help get me excited about things to come. This Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2016 liberty floral printed handkerchief dress is exactly what I would love to see Kirsten wearing to help get me excited about all of the red carpet appearances that she will be making over awards season. This dress is one of the few from this collection that I actually liked and I am hoping that whomever gets their hands on it does it justice, and I definitely think that Kirsten could. I would love to see this dress paired with a pair of black and gold Tabitha Simmons sandals, a pink lip, and a curly bob to add the perfect final touches.
While I am holding out hope that awards season will not be an all black and white affair for Rooney Mara I also know that this is a very slim chance. For the AFI Awards, where Rooney will most likely be on hand to represent her film Carol, I picked this simple black Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2016 cocktail dress. I think what immediately made me think of Rooney when it came to this dress was that the model is doing one of Rooney's signature poses. While I believe that this dress should be lined for Rooney as I think that most all of the elegance is the top her must have list for the red carpet. I would only add a pair of black suede Nicholas Kirkwood 'Maeva' pearl embellished pumps to ensure that elegance is key in this look for Rooney.
And finally I have my wish for Empire starlet Taraji P. Henson. As I have previously stated I am hoping that 2016 brings a time where Taraji learns that she doesn't have to have a lot of skin showing to have a sultry, sexy look on the red carpet. For the AFI Awards, where it's more ladies who lunch than sex kitten, I picked this Jonathan Simkhai Pre-Fall 2016 asymmetric constellation dress which is rendered in white, navy, and black. I think that this type of look is exactly what Taraji needs to have a chic look that still delviers a hint of sexy. The sexy would be further upped by the addition of a pair of black Tom Ford leather sandals with a gold padlock.

2016 National Board of Review Awards Gala Red Carpet Wish List

Brie Larson might end up being the celebrated underdog this season on the red carpets. When I looked back at Brie's red carpet looks over 2015 they were very underwhelming or total hot messes to me, up until the end. I am hoping that Brie is able to really bring it during awards season so that she can show that she can hang with the other women with whom she is nominated. On the eve of the People's Choice Awards in New York City Brie will take to the red carpet at the National Board of Review Awards Gala where she is going to be honored with the Best Actress award for her work in Room. Having worn Rodarte twice while promoting the film it would surprise me if Brie doesn't wear the brand at least once while making the Awards Season rounds. I picked this black, white, and orange floral hand beaded lace flutter sleeve dress from the Rodarte Spring 2016 RTW collection for Brie to wear on this red carpet. I love the shape and all of the hand beaded floral details and I think that Brie would look phenomenal wearing this creation. With such a statement dress all that would be needed to finish this look off would be a pair of simple black sandals, hair worn up so it wont compete with the dress, and a fresh face of makeup.
I decided to include Charlize Theron on this list because she is the lead in the National Board of Review's best film award winner Mad Max: Fury Road. I am uber excited to see what Charlize is going to bring to the table over the course of awards season as she, and Mad Max, have been garnering a lot of awards buzz. For this red carpet since it really isn't her night I picked this black Lanvin Spring 2016 RTW gown with a nude satin corseted body suit. I might get a little slack for picking this since Cate Blanchett has already worn a shorter green version on a red carpet, but I think that since the draping and color and length are all different why not. I think that Charlize would take this look and breath a sense of effortless glamour to the red carpet at the National Board of Review awards gala red carpet. A pair of black Christian Louboutin pumps, slicked back hair, a red lip, and a black Edie Parker clutch would finish this look off in spectacular fashion.
Emily Blunt stared in one of the National Board of Review's top films of the year Sicario, which is also being honored with the Spotlight Award for outstanding creative vision. If Emily jets to NYC to attend this event I would love to see her doing so in subtly elegant style wearing this Oscar de la Renta Spring 2016 RTW black cocktail dress which features a sheath silhouette with a defined sweetheart neckline, a cutout at the bodice, and a beaded embroidered skirt. Emily is always a delight to see on the red carpet and this sweet sensual ensemble would be no exception. I would add a pair of pink pumps to add to the romanticism of this look; hair worn up, a pink lip, and a pair of diamond cluster earrings would just finish this look off perfectly.
Its National Board of Review top film The Martian that I am hoping will mean a turn out from Jessica Chastain at the awards gala next Tuesday. I don't know why but when I picked the looks for this post I was feeling everyone in black, which is unusual because I love it when stars step out of the LBD. I guess it is because these women know how to make a little black dress anything but basic. I would love to see Jessica wear this Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2016 RTW pencil dress with its embroidered netting on the shoulders and at the top of the bodice. This is a very standard Dolce dress but I think that with Jessica's movie star presence a pair of killer black crystal embellished Christian Louboutin 'Top Vague' pointed toe pumps, a pair of diamond and sapphire drop earrings, old Hollywood waves, a diamond cocktail ring, and a red lip that this would be one for her record books.
Many will be surprised that I am featuring a little menswear in this post, but some of the leading men in Hollywood are starting to get their sartorial style noticed. Michael B. Jordan has been one of the men that has given my 4 time Best Dressed Man of the Year Eddie Redmayne a run for his money, will this year be the year that Eddie falls? It will remain to be seen. I am hoping that Michael will be at the National Board of Review Awards Gala because his Rocky spin off Creed is one of the top films of the year and his co-star Sylvester Stallone is being honored with the Best Supporting Actor award. I would love to see Michael wearing this bold red Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2016 Menswear suit, which was paired with a black button down for the presentation and I would keep for this red carpet. I would just add a black and white micro polka dotted skinny tie, and a pair of black patent leather Christian Louboutin lace up oxfords to finish this look off perfectly for this red carpet.

Best Dressed of September 2015

September was a crazy month on the red carpets we had plenty of premieres (major Oscar campaigns have started), fashion weeks, papal visits, and lots of product endorsements that went along with the Venice Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, and the Emmy Awards. I decided to take the Venice, Toronto, and Emmy Awards red carpets out of the running (they all got their own best dressed lists) so that all the rest of these women had a chance to earn a spot. Jessica Chastain is campaigning for an Oscar nomination for her role in "The Martian" and this stunning black Elie Saab Couture gown that she paired with the most amazing emerald and diamond statement earrings at the films gala premiere in London is the perfect way to start this campaign. There is something about a redhead in black with emerald earrings that just sings to me. Tell me when I would ever put a black dress at the top of a best dressed list? Surprisingly has happened a few times this year because these stars are doing them so well. Can anyone else remember Cate Blanchett in Margiela at the Oscars?
Solange Knowles made her rounds during New York Fashion Week. She was spotted on her way to the 3.1 Phillip Lim show wearing a hot off the runway Zimmermann Spring 2016 RTW white lace dress that she paired with the most awesome Schutz ‘Karlyanna’ cut-out boots and white plastic rim sunglasses. This is a perfect look for Solange. I love that she is not afraid to take fashion risks and that she does so many different styles on the red carpet and she works each one just as well as the next.

I have to give credit where credit is due to Dakota Johnson. I have not been a big fan of the actress on the red carpet since she first came around, but her white Balenciaga Resort 2016 strapless bell shaped cocktail dress at the "Black Mass" premiere in Boston was PERFECTION. I remember looking at Dakota in this ensemble and saying FINALLY a look worthy of a movie star. She knocked this look out of the red carpet ballpark styling it perfectly with that sleek hair, red lips, a beautiful Van Cleef & Arpels diamond necklace, and silver Bally sandals. There is not a single thing about this look that I would change, and that is something I have never said about one of Dakota's red carpet looks.

If you are an avid reader of this blog then you know that I LOVE Amal Clooney. I was sadly disappointed with her Christian Dior gown at the Golden Globe Awards but she has given so many other amazing looks this year that I am over that transgression. Last week she was spotted out on a date night with hubby George in New York City looking sexy, yet very chic, in green Versace Fall 2015 RTW that she paired with matching Jimmy Choo sandals. If I were a woman Amal would be one of my style icons and this look just shows why, she is not on a red carpet, she is not working, she is just out on a date with her husband and she is on fleek.
There is a love/hate relationship with Prada gowns on the red carpet. When Emily Blunt stepped out on the red carpet at the "Sicario" premiere in London I let out a yelp of elation as this red embellished custom Prada gown is perfection. Emily has had some amazing Prada moments on the red carpet but this has to top that list. She looks chic and elegant while being extremely modern at the same time.

Jennifer Hudson had her most beautiful look ever, in my opinion, when she took to the state at Madison Square Garden to perform "Hallelujah" for the Pope's mass in New York City. This custom blue Prabal Gurung gown and cape (gives off MAJOR Giambattista Valli Couture vibes) was a perfect look for such a demure occasion. I love when JHud gives us full glamour and that is exactly what she gave us with this look.

Kate Bosworth stepped out on the red carpet at the Atlanta premiere of "90 Minutes In Heaven" giving us 1950's socialite glamour. Her beautiful gold brocade Schiaparelli Fall 2015 Couture tea length gown gives off very vintage vibes and styled with a sleek low bun, orange lip, gold clutch, & Nicholas Kirkwood gold pumps all perfectly punctuated her beautiful ensemble.
Lady Gaga made shock waves wearing a simple black gown by her stylist Brandon Maxwell, whom presented his first runway collection during New York Fashion Week, for the Emmy Awards. Gaga also wore a gown from Maxwell's Spring 2016 RTW collection for the Fox Emmy Awards After-Party, but instead of the runways black version she oped for a white strapless gown with a voluminous shawl. It seems like her TV time is starting to make her more demure and sophisticated, but I love that this look still has that touch of signature Gaga drama.

Squeezing into this list at the last minute was Charlize Theron who stepped out to be a "The Power of an Educated Girl" panelist. Charlize wowed me by taking a rare step out at a public appearance not wearing Dior. The face of "J'Adore Dior" is almost exclusively dressed by the brand so I cherish the moments where she steps out of that box and gives us something else. This Erdem Resort 2016 black, white, & blue floral shift dress is beautiful and demure perfect for a panel that also included the First Lady of the United States. Her side part pixie, oxblood lip, & simple black Christian Louboutin pumps were the perfect way to style this look to ensure that she was event appropriate.

Finally there is Nicole Kidman who attended the OMEGA ‘Her Time’ Q&A session in Milan wearing a Giambattista Valli Fall 2015 RTW ensemble. As the face of OMEGA watches I have to say that Nicole did her part as brand ambasador quite well as this was just one of three amazing looks that she wore over the course of her duties. The victorian-esque ruffled organza and floral macrame blouse paired with a printed skirt and a pair of black Christian Louboutin sandals is the perfect look to wear for a Q&A session.

Overall August was a very very busy month for the red carpets and I had a hard time narrowing down my options just to 10. Head over to to the Facebook page to see all of the looks considered in putting this list together.

#Cannes2015: amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

Since "American Idol" finally wrapped Jennifer Lopez I am hoping that Jennifer Lopez will finally return to Cannes to fulfill some L'Oreal Paris brand ambassador duties. It has been 5 years since JLo has been in Cannes and I think that we are LONG over due for a show stopping red carpet moment from the Latina pop princess. I would love to see Jennifer rock the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala on Thursday wearing this Zuhair Murad Spring 2015 Couture silver beaded 'naked' dress. No one does the 'naked' dress like JLo and I think she makes them look chic instead of tacky, which is a big feat for one to be able to do. Finished with sparkling colored Chopard earrings, old Hollywood waves, a red lip, and a pair of Silver sandals and all will be forced to bow before her.
Jessica Chastain is a guest that has attended the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala since she made her Cannes debut, and I am hoping that the stunning red headed actress is back on the seaside red carpet this week. I would love to see Jessica wear this amazing green Schiaparelli Spring 2015 Couture gown with its surrealist hand print on the amfAR red carpet. You really need to watch the video of this gown walk the runway to really appreciate the full beauty of this gown (it starts walking at 6:30). The halter gown with an open back that features a scarf train that can be wrapped up around the shoulders in a demure way or left to drape behind in a chic sexy manner. A chic updo, red lip, emerald earrings, and a pair of red sandals would ensure that the vintage quality of this gown stays truly intact.
We are bound to see a gaggle of models on the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala red carpet since Carine Roitfeld is producing yet another color themed collection for the event to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, this year the collection is entirely black and white. Karolina Kurkova is one of the ladies that I am most looking forward to seeing on the red carpet at the amfAR gala. The Czech supermodel would look amazing walking the red, well actually traditionally white, carpet at the amfAR benefit wearing this Maison Margiela Spring 2015 Couture red velvet column gown with a mandarin collar. Since no one snatched this gown up for the Met Ball I am praying we get to see it at Cannes. A simple pair of black sandals, a diamond bracelet, a red lip, and sleek swept up hair would finish this look perfectly for this red carpet.

Top 10 Looks from March 2015

They say that March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. Well in regards to fashion that was surely not the case. The red carpets were ablaze all month long and it was hard for me to choose just ten looks for me to feature. Lily James shedded her princess gowns and Disney inspired looks to work a sleek modern custom Balenciaga grey strapless gown with gold button details for the "Cinderella" premiere in London. This was more on an iconic look for me than the princess statement that she made a the films premiere in LA wearing Elie Saab Couture because it was an unexpected choice. This will definitely be on my mind when I am crafting my Best Dressed of the Year list.
Jessica Alba was spotted out and about running from meeting to meeting in New York City in early March looking impossibly chic. Jessica snatched up a peach head to toe ensemble from the Narciso Rodriguez Fall 2015 RTW runway collection that she paired with a Kenzo bag. I love that she took this head to toe runway look and owned it on the sidewalk runway. Christina Hendricks helped celebrate the finale of her hit series "Mad Men" ad the Black and Red Ball wearing a custom Zac Posen emerald gown with jacquard leopard spots on the hem. This gown also included a detachable ball skirt, that I was not a huge fan of. The red carpet didn't seem grand enough for a ball skirt, but the more streamlined silhouette featured here was perfection. The beginning of March ushered in Paris Fashion Week which had celebrity packed front rows. Hailee Steinfeld was the stand out of all the ladies who packed the Christian Dior Fall 2015 RTW presentation. I thought that her orange Christian Dior long sleeved dress, which she paired with Dior accessories including a white clutch, green knee high boots and stunning cat-eye sunglasses, was the perfect look for a front row. Hailee looked modern, youthful and incredibly chic taking her front row seat.
What would a best dressed list be without a Chastain appearance? Jessica Chastain became the third person, behind Sienna Miller and Anna Wintour, to be dressed in the Oscar de la Renta Fall 2015 RTW Collection. The houses first collection since the death of the namesake and the take over by Peter Copping. What I love about this look is that the black and white floral tapestry inspired long sleeve gown is perfection on the red headed beauty. This look evokes the 1960s to me and I could see the likes of Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn loving this gown. Simple hair and makeup were all that were needed to finish this look off perfectly for the Jameson Empire Awards. For the first ever amfAR Hong Kong Gala, Hong Kong film star Carina Lau wowed in a custom gown version of a cocktail dress presented in the Schiaparelli Spring 2015 Couture collection. I quickly developed a love affair with this collection and so far every look that has hit a red carpet from it has been utter perfection. The beaded necklace detail with hands clasping in the back made this an avant garde take on a very classic look. A look that I believe that Mademoiselle Schiaparelli would be proud of. The fight for breakout star of the year is going to be a tough one. Carmen Ejogo has been making the red carpet rounds since the premiere of her Oscar nominated film "Selma," and has really been coming into her own. I loved her black and white Balmain sequined window pane long sleeved mini dress that was worn to BET's "Black Girls Rock." What I loved about this look is that Carmen took this dress and went for full glamour with the styling. From the bouncy pinned back behind one ear curls, to the matte red lip and the black black sandals just made this look perfection.
Only Charlize Theron, and of course Angelina Jolie, could don a simple black dress on the red carpet and still end up on my Best Dressed of the Month list. For the Parisian premiere of her film "Dark Places," Charlize wore a stunning custom Christian Dior Couture black beaded strapless knee length dress which she paired with a pair of black Dior sandals, a black Dior satin clutch and Jessica McCormack diamond jewelry. What made this such a major statement was just the air about Charlize. She knows how to own a red carpet and own this one she did. Kerry Washington continued to be one of my favorite red carpet ladies wearing a black, yellow and maroon Mary Katrantzou Pre-Fall 2015 mini dress for PALEYFEST LA presents "Scandal." I love how Kerry styled her look oping for complimentary yellow pumps, a nondescript black clutch, a berry lip and slicked back pulled up hair. All of these additions just made sure that this was a best dressed worth look. When I saw Kate Bosworth at the Fine Arts Museum San Francisco Mid-Winter gala in this red and white Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture strapless gown I let out a little cheer. I have been obsessed with this gown since it was first presented in January of last year and I am glad that Kate really did this gown justice. The gown itself is just so detailed all of the circular details are made up by hand place sequin details. Toussled locks, a red lip and a white Christian Dior clutch made this look all about the dress which, as the work of art that this gown is, should have been the case.

The Top 10 Looks from the Academy Awards

I have to say that when I first read the description of the Chanel Couture gown that Julianne Moore wore to the Academy Awards last night I was very afraid. I was waiting with bated breath for the stunning redhead to show up on the red carpet. When the actress, who won Best Actress last night, showed up I let out a HUGE sigh of relief. This white Chanel Couture gown is covered with 80,000 hand cut flower paillettes and took 27 people over 900 hours to make. Julianne really let the gown speak for itself slicking her hair back adding simple Chopard cluster earrings and a berry lip to finish off a breathtaking award winning look for the Oscar winning actress.
Many will be shocked that I put a black gown so far up my best dressed list. The reason for this is because no one could have worn this custom Maison Marigela Couture gown and made me love this more than the queen of the red carpet Cate Blanchett. While I was predicting that she would show up in Armani Prive this step to the left was just what I love about Cate. The beauty of this look was in the details. The frayed fringes and the stunning turquoise Tiffany & Co. floral bib necklace, which despite whatever Kelly Osbourne says is TOTALLY Oscars worthy, just made this look most stunning. A hall of fame look for Cate for sure. Many will also disagree with me putting Gwyneth Paltrow on this list. I thought that Gwynie rocked her custom Ralph & Russo one sleeved rosette sleek gown. Many did not like the rose and thought it ruined the look, but I honestly would ask them would they have preferred this gown if it was just plain baby pink dress? I don't think so. A pair of statement earrings and slicked back hair finished this look perfectly. I will say the biggest wow and shock of the night was how much I actually LOVED what Rosamund Pike wore on the red carpet. After a series of refinding her red carpet footing and slowly getting better and better Rosamund gave me a perfect look. This custom red Givenchy Couture lace gown that Rosamund paired with simple red sandals, a pair of dainty simple Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, fresh makeup and a swept back bun. There is simply not a single thing about Rosamunds look that I would have changed.
A red head in sapphire. Jessica Chastain knew the way to my heart. I absolutely adore Jessica in her custom Givenchy sapphire gown with just a hint of sparkle and leg. This is what I am talking about. I absolutely love this woman. She has her self one of the best stylists in the world (the same woman who dresses Cate Blanchett) and she knows how to work a red carpet. Another big shock of the night was seeing Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo really go for it wearing her stunning Armani Prive Fall 2014 Couture strapless black and red peplum gown. I don't think I have ever see Behati look so chic, her and hubby Adam Levine of Maroon 5 were definitely my Best Dressed Couple. Taking a risk and adding that black diamond ball necklace and kept the rest of the styling sexy and vampy. She oozed sexy glamour and provided the perfect arm candy. Jennifer Lopez brought feminine sexy glamour to the Oscars red carpet in one of the nights biggest dresses from the Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture collection. I loved that as she decided to go big or go home that Jennifer decided to wear a champagne colored ball gown. I am really excited that this gown finally got worn for a red carpet event and really what better platform for this gown than the Academy Awards?
I had my doubts about what Marion Cotillard was going to wear. I was betting on custom or that she would break the norm and wear one of the tea length gowns from the Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture collection. She instead went to last springs runway selecting this sequined perforated detail white Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture gown that features a beautiful bustle detail in the back. Many were not sure what to make of this as they saw an unflattering view of this from the back as their first impression. I immediately loved this. Who else could have taken this avant garde gown and rocked it with such elegance grace and sophistication? Emma Stone finally broke the colorless spell that she has been stuck in wearing a custom chartreuse green Elie Saab Couture fully beaded gown with a split to there and long sleeves. She really gave me modern old Hollywood with the stunning gown, matching shoes, and vintage glam beauty look. Last but not least is Reese Witherspoon in custom Tom Ford. Everyone had their money on Julianne Moore wearing a custom Tom Ford gown, but the honor went to Reese who more than did the designer justice. This is another look at taking the idea of old Hollywood and making it a modern statement. Everything about this look feels classic but still very very fresh.

Last night was a very well dressed red carpet, of course there were a few disasters and some that really let me down but all in all it was an awesome night on the red carpet. All of the looks from the red carpet are on the blogs Facebook page and I am working on uploading pictures from all of the parties (as pictures are STILL coming in), so make sure that you head over there and check them all out! Who was your best dressed? Worst dressed?
