2016 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 7

First off I would like to apologize for posting wish lists earlier without any details. I have been really busy with my new job and trying to keep on top of NYFW and the Grammy Awards that I just didn't get to writing the content for those posts and didn't want the lists to fall to the wayside either. Continuing on with my Oscar night wish lists is my wish for Daisy Ridley. Daisy has been the darling of fashion since she burst on to the scene in some of the most coveted brands with the promo tour for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We will first see Daisy on the red carpet at the main ceremony as one of the nights presenters but I am hoping she does a quick change for the after parties. After what I am sure will be a very classic look on the red carpet at the ceremony I would love to see Daisy change directions and wear something a little edgier for the Vanity Fair party. I think that this navy lace Christopher Kane Pre-Fall 2016 gown which features high neck, neon orange tape details and sequin floral embroidery would be an amazing look for Daisy to give on the after party red carpet. It would take a very confident person to make this gown work on the red carpet, and though she might be new to Hollywood Daisy has the confidence to make it work. I would complete the look with a sleek bun, an orange clutch, navy peep toe pumps, diamond cluster earrings and a smokey eye to ensure that this is a major moment on the Vanity Fair red carpet.
Emma Stone is always a favorite for me when it comes to her red carpet style and I am hoping that she will be out on Oscar night despite the fact that she is not presenting or nominated. I can most see Emma going to the Vanity Fair part and since it would just be a night of fun for her I picked this amazing Marc Jacobs Spring 2016 RTW gown for her to wear on the red carpet. I love that this gown reminds me of a shirt dress and the print, which looks like it has been dropped in bleach, makes for a perfect relaxed but still elegant red carpet look. I think that Emma would show up in either a relaxed look like this or in some sort of couture cocktail ensemble. A wavy updo, a red lip, silver clutch, silver peep toe pumps, and some killer diamond drop earrings would finish this relaxed glam look off perfectly for this red carpet for Emma.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw has been another of my absolute favorites to see on the red carpet and she has been recently picking up a bit of steam in Hollywood so I would not be surprised to see her on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, especially since she is one of the stars of the magazines annual Hollywood issue. I would love to see the actress, whom favors very feminine looks, to choose this peachy pink Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture gold embroidered gown. I have long been perplexed as to why this gown has not seen the light of a red carpet despite it being something that I can actually picture quite a few actresses in Hollywood wearing, maybe just looking for the perfect woman. Gugu would float down the red carpet at the Vanity Fair party in this feminine and elegant gown. A chic updo, fresh faced makeup, and a pair of gold pumps would be the only things I would add to make this a perfect red carpet outing for a gown the most definitely deserves it.
There has not been a single Jane Fonda red carpet moment that I have liked since her electric blue Atelier Versace during the Cannes Film Festival last year and I am hoping that come Oscar night at she will finally redeem herself. Instead of going to the usual suspects of Versace, Saint Laurent, or Balmain I went with an unexpected (and probably highly unlikely) choice with this Pamella Roland Pre-Fall 2016 gold sequin long sleeve gown which  featured 3D gold floral embellishment. I think that this is the look that would make me love a Jane Fonda moment again on the red carpet. It embodies everything that I love in her style, it is mature but sexy and statement making. I am really hoping that whatever slump that Jane is in with her red carpet style choices ends before she heads back to Cannes in May.
Finally for today I have my wish for Kate Beckinsale who is always one that knows how to bring drama to the red carpet. I would kill to see Kate rock the red carpet in this white and pink Giambattista Spring 2014 Couture strapless floral printed, knotted waits mermaid gown. Kate is the queen on this silhouette on the red carpet and I think that she would be one of the few who would do this gown justice on the Vanity Fair party red carpet. I have heard that the placement of the print on this gown likens it to a used tampon but I think that is just people that don't appreciate haute couture styling and Kate is one who does. An elegant updo, pink lip, dazzling diamond drop earrings, and silver sandals would complete this look to perfection.

#Cannes2015: Best Dressed Day 3

While I was very much hoping that Emma Stone would go for color and drama on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet I will say that I was equally captivated by the offering that she presented. For her big debut on the Croisette Emma wore a stunning ice blue custom Christian Dior Couture gown. Much like Charlize Theron yesterday, Emma's gown had a dramatic train that followed gracefully behind her and added a bit of drama walking up the steps. A Repossi barely there diamond choker, chic swept up hair, and a red lip finished off Emma's big statement for her first Cannes appearance.

#Cannes2015: "Irrational Man" Premiere Wish List

I was actually really surprised, but delightfully so, to see "Irrational Man" pop up as an Out of Competition special screening for the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, because I read from sources close to the festival that the film was out of the running. I absolutely love seeing Emma Stone on the red carpet and I am excited to see what she will do with her first Cannes Film Festival appearance. For the films photocall I would love to see Emma wear this Antonio Berardi Fall 2015 RTW lilac long sleeved dress with leaf jacquard detail rendered in silk and features a sheath silhouette with a jewel neckline, a jacquard colorblock bodice, and a draped skirt with pleating detail and an asymmetrical hem. I don't know many that could take this dress and make it look effortless and I think that Emma would, with a pair of yellow sandals and loose waves this look would be perfection. For the wardrobe change for the red carpet gala premiere I would love to see Emma wear this Elie Saab Spring 2015 Couture watercolor butterfly strapless gown. This gown screams Cannes and I have been dying to see Emma wear this gown on the red carpet since it first rocked the runway so I am sending prayers to the fashion gods that this is the gown that she chooses. A simple pair of gold satin sandals, simple earrings, a pink lip, and her hair styled into Marcel waves would ensure that the Cannes red carpet wouldn't even know what hit it.

2015 MTV Movie Awards: Elizabeth Banks, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence & Jennifer Lopez Wish List

The 2015 MTV Movie Awards will take place on Sunday night I am very excited to see what all of the stars will be rocking to the edgiest of the movie awards. Elizabeth Banks is nominated for Best On-Screen Transformation for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1." I am super excited to see what Elizabeth will rock on the red carpet as she has always been one of my favorite red carpet stars. I would love to see Elizabeth rock this David Koma Fall 2015 RTW embellished a-line cocktail dress. I think think that this dress is very simple and classic in its silhouette, but the embellishments help make it pack a punch. A pair of strappy black sandals, a blue Edie Parker clutch, red lip, and a simple hairstyle would ensure that Elizabeth hits all the red carpet high notes.
Emma Stone holds nominations at Sunday nights MTV Movie Awards for Best Actress thanks to her role in "Birdman" and for Best Kiss thanks to her kiss with Andrew Garfield in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." Emma, much like Elizabeth, is one that I always adore seeing on the red carpet and coming off of an amazing awards season run I am excited to see what she is going to wear. I would love see Emma don this amazing Mary Katrantzou Fall 2015 RTW 'Orlinda' pink and red dress that features a shift silhouette with a velvet flocked tulle bodice, a square neckline, embossed wool detailing in a cube pattern, and a jacquard skirt with hand embroidered PVC embellishment at the hem. This is an out there look that is going to take someone with a lot of red carpet presence to pull off and I believe that Emma has what it takes. Finish the look with a pair of simple black sandals and a fresh face of makeup will ensure that Emma slays the MTV Movie Awards red carpet.
Jennifer Lawrence has 3 nominations at the MTV Movie Awards and I am sure that she will take home at least one golden popcorn award. I loved Jennifer in her updated Dior couture version of the Pretty Woman hooker dress and I am sure that the Dior spokesmodel will wear a creation from the house for the MTV Movie Awards. I would pick this very simple black cap-sleeved Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture mini-dress that features sequin embellishments down the center. I think that despite this being a basic LBD that Jennifer would look super chic and best dressed worthy. A black Dior clutch and a pair of blue sandals would add the perfect pizazz to this ensemble.
"The Boy Next Door" has earned Jennifer Lopez a Best Scared-As-Shit Performance nomination at the MTV Movie Awards. We are so used to seeing JLo wear embellished mini dresses that  I think that this blue and white Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2015 RTW strapless column dress would be a perfect ensemble for her to switch things up for the MTV Awards. Not keeping a bit of sparkle away for too long I would imagine that Jennifer would finish this look with a blue Edie Parker confetti clutch, a pair of nude pumps, a sexy smokey eye, thick sexy hair, and some sort of diamonds somewhere. I think that this look could have the potential to be a favorite.

The Top 10 Looks from the Academy Awards

I have to say that when I first read the description of the Chanel Couture gown that Julianne Moore wore to the Academy Awards last night I was very afraid. I was waiting with bated breath for the stunning redhead to show up on the red carpet. When the actress, who won Best Actress last night, showed up I let out a HUGE sigh of relief. This white Chanel Couture gown is covered with 80,000 hand cut flower paillettes and took 27 people over 900 hours to make. Julianne really let the gown speak for itself slicking her hair back adding simple Chopard cluster earrings and a berry lip to finish off a breathtaking award winning look for the Oscar winning actress.
Many will be shocked that I put a black gown so far up my best dressed list. The reason for this is because no one could have worn this custom Maison Marigela Couture gown and made me love this more than the queen of the red carpet Cate Blanchett. While I was predicting that she would show up in Armani Prive this step to the left was just what I love about Cate. The beauty of this look was in the details. The frayed fringes and the stunning turquoise Tiffany & Co. floral bib necklace, which despite whatever Kelly Osbourne says is TOTALLY Oscars worthy, just made this look most stunning. A hall of fame look for Cate for sure. Many will also disagree with me putting Gwyneth Paltrow on this list. I thought that Gwynie rocked her custom Ralph & Russo one sleeved rosette sleek gown. Many did not like the rose and thought it ruined the look, but I honestly would ask them would they have preferred this gown if it was just plain baby pink dress? I don't think so. A pair of statement earrings and slicked back hair finished this look perfectly. I will say the biggest wow and shock of the night was how much I actually LOVED what Rosamund Pike wore on the red carpet. After a series of refinding her red carpet footing and slowly getting better and better Rosamund gave me a perfect look. This custom red Givenchy Couture lace gown that Rosamund paired with simple red sandals, a pair of dainty simple Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, fresh makeup and a swept back bun. There is simply not a single thing about Rosamunds look that I would have changed.
A red head in sapphire. Jessica Chastain knew the way to my heart. I absolutely adore Jessica in her custom Givenchy sapphire gown with just a hint of sparkle and leg. This is what I am talking about. I absolutely love this woman. She has her self one of the best stylists in the world (the same woman who dresses Cate Blanchett) and she knows how to work a red carpet. Another big shock of the night was seeing Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo really go for it wearing her stunning Armani Prive Fall 2014 Couture strapless black and red peplum gown. I don't think I have ever see Behati look so chic, her and hubby Adam Levine of Maroon 5 were definitely my Best Dressed Couple. Taking a risk and adding that black diamond ball necklace and kept the rest of the styling sexy and vampy. She oozed sexy glamour and provided the perfect arm candy. Jennifer Lopez brought feminine sexy glamour to the Oscars red carpet in one of the nights biggest dresses from the Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture collection. I loved that as she decided to go big or go home that Jennifer decided to wear a champagne colored ball gown. I am really excited that this gown finally got worn for a red carpet event and really what better platform for this gown than the Academy Awards?
I had my doubts about what Marion Cotillard was going to wear. I was betting on custom or that she would break the norm and wear one of the tea length gowns from the Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture collection. She instead went to last springs runway selecting this sequined perforated detail white Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture gown that features a beautiful bustle detail in the back. Many were not sure what to make of this as they saw an unflattering view of this from the back as their first impression. I immediately loved this. Who else could have taken this avant garde gown and rocked it with such elegance grace and sophistication? Emma Stone finally broke the colorless spell that she has been stuck in wearing a custom chartreuse green Elie Saab Couture fully beaded gown with a split to there and long sleeves. She really gave me modern old Hollywood with the stunning gown, matching shoes, and vintage glam beauty look. Last but not least is Reese Witherspoon in custom Tom Ford. Everyone had their money on Julianne Moore wearing a custom Tom Ford gown, but the honor went to Reese who more than did the designer justice. This is another look at taking the idea of old Hollywood and making it a modern statement. Everything about this look feels classic but still very very fresh.

Last night was a very well dressed red carpet, of course there were a few disasters and some that really let me down but all in all it was an awesome night on the red carpet. All of the looks from the red carpet are on the blogs Facebook page and I am working on uploading pictures from all of the parties (as pictures are STILL coming in), so make sure that you head over there and check them all out! Who was your best dressed? Worst dressed?

The Best Looks from the Film Independent Spirit Awards

I will say that I am slightly disappointed in the red carpet from the 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards. There was not a huge bustle of stars as per usual, but the stars that did show up really brought it. The lady that I always look forward to seeing on the carpet the most, Cate Blanchett, did not let me down. Queen Cate rocked a Schiaparelli Spring 2015 Couture long sleeve tea length dress with heart and cupids arrow print. I love how sophisticated this quirky ensemble came off on Cate. Many would have made this look tacky but not the red carpet queen.
While Emma Stone kept up her all back Awards Season run she looked beautiful in a hot off the runway Monique Lhuillier Fall 2015 RTW dress with a lace bodice and full skirt. I love how Emma can make a black dress anything but basic. I was really surprised by how much I actually loved what Carmen Ejogo wore on the red carpet. Carmen has not really impressed me thus far but this black Roksanda Pre-Fall 2015 strapless jumpsuit with its 3D color blocked detail on the top. I think that this look really put Carmen on the map and I am actually really excited to see what she will wear tonight. One lady I thought would be fighting Cate Blanchett for the top spot was Julianne Moore. She looked amazing in her Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture shift dress, but I don't know I was expecting more. Julianne looked youthful and beautiful, and as always experimented with fashion, and still looked absolutely fabulous. And last but not least "Castle" star Stana Katic rocked a Chloe Resort 2015 textured maxi dress. Stana usually looks way over dressed, she wore a Carolina Herrera ball gown for the Peoples Choice Awards of all events, so I was pleasantly surprised that she was dressed perfectly for the events dress code.

2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Wish List Part 1

I am taking a break from the main ceremony to focus on some of the Oscar night parties for the next few days. These events can be just as glam and give just as much high fashion as the main show does. Amy Adams did not receive an Oscar nomination this year but I am still praying that she decides to hit up a few of the parties. I would love to see Amy on the Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpet wearing this shocking pink Schiaparelli Spring 2015 Couture silk gown. The silhouette of this gown is one we don't see from Amy very often but I think that the simple style with the bold color and pattern would just sing a beautiful with Amy on the red carpet.
Anna Kendrick is going to be performing at the Academy Awards ceremony next Sunday night and then I am sure she will head out to the parties. I am also figuring that Anna will make a costume change on her way. I created this wish before she was announced as a performer at the ceremony so I do not know if Anna would wear a ball gown, but I would love to see her wear this amazing black and white liquid organza Naeem Khan Pre-Fall 2015 gown that features a sweetheart neckline with multiple thin camisole-style straps, a black floral lace bodice that falls to a white floor length a-line skirt. This is a very pretty gown and I think that Anna would rock it on the red carpet. Old Hollywood waves, a red lip, a black Edie Parker clutch and a pair of black strappy Christian Louboutin sandals would be the perfect finishing touches to put Anna on top of the Best Dressed lists.
The Best Supporting Actress nominated Emma Stone usually changes out of her Oscars ceremony gown and into a second look for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. I have a feeling that is going to be the case next Sunday night. I picked a beautiful blue and gold Valentino Couture ballgown for Emma to wear for the ceremony so I figured I would give her something that wasn't as much for the Vanity Fair Party. I picked this light gold embroidered high neck gown from the Valentino "Sala Bianca" Haute Couture collection that was presented to commemorate the reopening of the Valentino NYC Flagship. This collection has been receiving a lot of red carpet love and I am sure that time is nowhere near up. I think that this gold gown would make Emma look like a flaming goddess. Finish the look with a gold Lee Savage clutch, a pink lip and a pair of gold sandals and Emma will show why she is one of the best dressed women on the red carpet scene.
Emmy Rossum is going to be hosting the Costume Designers Guild Awards on Tuesday night so I am hoping that she will stay in LA through Oscars night and attend the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party. Emmy is one of my favorite women who rocks red carpets. Very rarely does Emmy disappoint on the red carpet. I would love to see Emmy wear this heavy georgette Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2015 halter gown with a front opening that reveals a vibrant orchid print. I love this gown. When this gown is not in motion this gown you don't really see the print but it is a fun unexpected punch.
I could not find a Dior gown for Felicity Jones to wear for the actual Academy Awards ceremony, even though I feel like she will wear a custom dress. I would love to see her change into this floral print Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture cocktail dress with side cutouts. This is a mix of 50's housewife and ultra sleek modernity. This is something that I really want to see Felicity do on the red carpet. She does the prim look so well it would be nice to see Felicity wear something with a little edge. Silver sandals and chic hair and  makeup would finish this look off perfectly for the Vanity Fair Oscars After-Party red carpet.
This year Gwen Stefani is rumored to be dropping not only an album with No Doubt but also releasing another solo album. I would love to see Gwen on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Party next Sunday night. The Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2015 Couture collection was really popular for Grammy weekend and I think that Gwen should get her hands on this collection. I would love to see Gwen wear this silver sequined long sleeve Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2015 Couture gown with a plunging neckline and split to there. The belt reminds me of a heavyweight championship belt so I would probably switch it up and pair it with a black Alaia belt, black sandals, a red lip sand some stunning Chopard diamond earrings to ensure that Gwen is a red carpet hit.
Hilary Swank always wows the fuck out of me. There is something about her grace and elegance that I just love to see her in what ever she wears. I would love to see Hilary wear this Elie Saab brown and blue long sleeve mermaid gown with sweeping train and all over embellishments from the Fall 2014 Couture collection. This gown would be a stunning look for Hilary to wear for the Vanity Fair Party. It is chic and sophisticated and Hilary would infuse sex into the look. A blue clutch, old Hollywood waves and a pair of black sandals would finish this look off perfectly for the Vanity Fair red carpet.

2015 Academy Awards: Best Supporting Actress Nominees Wish List

Emma Stone has been slaying Awards Season, albeit she has only attended the Golden Globe and SAG Awards despite nominations at other awards shows. I am sure that the "Birdman" star will step out for the Academy Awards next weekend. I am hoping that Emma gives us a beautiful feminine statement since her previous two awards show look mastered the menswear trend. Emma started the journey to the Oscars with this film at the Venice Film Festival wearing a stunning Valentino Couture gown and I am wishing for her to end the journey in a stunning Valentino Couture gown. When I was watching the Valentino Spring 2015 Couture collection walk the runway, via the livestream, I was actually looking for a dress for Keira Knightley, but then this stunning celestial embroidered  ballgown took to the runway my Oscars wishes immediately changed. This needs an Oscars moment and Emma is the only person that I can see wearing it and making it WERK like it owes her $10. This would fulfill my need for color and feminine glamour from Emma at the Oscars. Sleek hair, a red lip, and gold sandals would be the final finishing touches to ensure a perfect Oscar look for Emma.
After deciding to go with Valentino for Emma Stone I started to dig into the Chanel archives to find a gown for Keira Knightley to wear for the Oscars next Sunday night. Keira has not been a shining maternity style star like we all expected her to be this awards season, but she has SLOWLY getting better and better. I am still waiting for Keira to give me a show stopping moment this awards season. I think that this black and white Chanel Fall 2006 Couture gown would give that to Keira. It would hide her baby bump that she wants so much but still be a big statement. A chic up do, a pair of black pumps, simple Chanel Fine Jewelry earrings and a bold red lip will ensure that Keira is ready for the Academy Awards red carpet.
Having not been nominated at any of the other awards shows it was very shocking to hear Laura Dern's name called out when the 2015 Academy Awards nominations. Never one to really make the couture splash I think that this pretty Roberto Cavalli Pre-Fall 2015 black gown with gold embroidery would be a perfect gown for Laura to wear for the Oscars. Laura is not the likely to win, Patricia Arquette of "Boyhood" is,  so this is not something that should be out of her realm of possibilities. A pair of black sandals, a black and gold clutch and neutral makeup will finish this look off perfectly for Laura for the Oscars.
And finally for the nominees we have Meryl Streep, of course, whose role as the witch in "Into The Woods" earned her a nomination this year. I picked this eggplant Alberta Ferretti Pre-Fall 2015 faux wrap gown with three quarter length sleeves and a crystal hip embellishment for Meryl to wear. Since she has not been announced to present and is not likely to win then this gown might be a little much of a stretch but I think that the 65 year old actress would look elegant and beautiful on the Oscars red carpet. Why not take the chance to get dressed up and have some fun, of course with 18 previous Oscar nominations it might just be another day at the office for Meryl. Stunning diamond earrings & black pumps are my recommendations for finishing off this look for the Academy Awards.

2015 Costume Designers Guild Awards Wish List

The 17th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 17, 2015. I am excited for the fact that one of my favorite women, Emmy Rossum, is going to be the hostess of the evening. Emmy always gives me couture realness when she steps out wearing all of the best designers. For the CDG Awards I would love to see Emmy wear this Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2015 strapless ball gown with its bold floral print. Many would send this gown back afraid of the statement making print, but Emmy is never one to stray away from a challenge and I would love to see her take this gown on. Paring this gown with some stunning Chopard drop earrings, a light pink lip, and a pair of red sandals would ensure that Emmy gives Oscar chic at the CDG Awards
Emma Stone has been making the red carpet rounds promoting "Birdman" on its journey to the Academy Awards. With the film being nominated for its costume design at the CDG Awards I am praying that Emma shows up. I would love to see her wear this emerald green Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2015 t-shirt style dress with beaded stripes in differing directions on the top and skirt. I absolutely adore a red head in green and we haven't seen Emma wear green in a while. Finish the look with a green Edie Parker clutch, a pair of gold pumps, and a red lip would make everyone green with envy for Emma's red carpet look.
Felicity Jones is still on the road to being one of my red carpet queens. I love almost every single look the she puts out on the red carpet. For the Costume Designers Guild Awards, I would love to see Felicity wear this Marchesa Pre-Fall 2015 cocktail dress rendered in black corded lace and features a fitted bodice with a full pleated skirt and scalloped edges. I think that this is a sweet dress, which is perfect for the look that Felicity always gives on the red carpet. I would pair this look with a pair of coral Elie Saab sandals, sleek hair, and a coral lip to make sure that Felicity is all about bringing impact to the red carpet at the Costume Designers Guild Awards.
Reese Witherspoon has been on a roller coaster of style this red carpet season. I have either loved or hated her red carpet looks, and most have been very monochromatic. I am praying for Reese to wear some color on the red carpet, and what better event that the Costume Designers Guild Awards to do that? I picked this amazing Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture cocktail dress with a green top and a multicolored striped full skirt for Reese to wear. I think that the silhouette is something that Reese would be naturally drawn to, it is very ladylike. Reese loves herself a ladylike silhouette and this gown gives that AND modernity with the colors and striped skirt. The boldness of the pattern and colors are what I fear would push Reese away from this dress. I would finish this look off simply with a pair of gold pumps and tousled waves to give Reese a perfect red carpet look.
"The Grand Budapest Hotel" is nominated for Best Period Costumes in a Movie and I am hoping for a Swinton sighting at the CDG Awards. Tilda Swinton is a red carpet queen. I love how she can work mannish or feminine silhouettes on the red carpet and always look stunning. One of Tilda's favorite designers, and closest friends, is Hadier Ackermann and it has been a hot minute since we have seen her in one of his designs. I picked this mauve silk suit, with a boxy blazer and tapered pants, and burgundy chiffon top covered in rosettes from the Hadier Ackermann Spring 2015 RTW collection. This look is an amazing balance of menswear inspiration and feminine details to create the perfect red carpet look for Tilda. Her short locks styled in her signature coif and nude pumps would ensure that Tilda slays the red carpet.

2015 Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon

We are finally in the final stretch for the Academy Awards. The nominees all gathered in LA on Monday at a luncheon to celebrate their nominations. The actress nominees all really brought it to the red carpet arrivals for the luncheon. Felicity Jones wore a forest green Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2015 wax coated cotton dress over a navy and orange sequin embroidered trompe l’oeil sweater underneath and a pair of green pumps. I am getting the vibes that Felicity will be named a face of Dior once awards season is all said and done. Best Actress front runner Julianne Moore broke her red carpet mold and wore a slightly modified red Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2015 cocktail dress. The original dress was presented without the peplum top. I find myself wishing that Julianne had picked the original dress over the peplum. Current face of Christian Dior Marion Cotillard was the lucky, yet unsurprising, lady who had the honor of wearing a look from the recently presented Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture collection. I love how Marion took this unusual dress and made it seem like an instant classic. The vintage inspired hair, the silver Dior clutch, and black Dior pumps just made the dress the star and Marion worked this dress like I thought only the likes of Diane Kruger could. I have been on a roller coaster of style with Reese Witherspoon this awards season. For the Nominees Luncheon we were on a style high. Reese looked fabulous in her Giambattista Valli black and white color blocked flared dress, and the black and white Gianvito Rossi ‘Peggy’ sandals that she wore just made the look that much better. And finally Best Supporting Actress nominee Emma Stone kept up her monochromatic dressing with a Michael Kors Pre-Fall ensemble, that consists of a black and white striped sequined sweater and black and white polka dot chiffon skirt. I am really praying for color from Emma in the coming weeks. She has been rocking the back but I need to see her wear color as she can get away with wearing just about anything.

My favorite of this group has to be Marion! That Dior Couture is just so different and unexpected for the occasion and she really made it work. Who are you most looking forward to seeing on the Academy Awards red carpet?

2015 BAFTA Awards: Amy, Emma, Felicity, Gugu, & Julianne Wish List

This weekend we are in for a double dose of red carpet on Sunday night. In LA there will be the Grammy Awards (those wishes to come later this week) and in London the BAFTA Awards will take place. I am really excited to see what the stars will bring to the red carpet come Sunday at the BAFTA's. Amy Adams is nominated for Best Leading Actress for her work in "Big Eyes." Amy looked amazing at the Golden Globe Awards in lavender Versace and I am hoping that she just continues to wow me. I picked this Zuhair Murad Spring 2015 Couture cap sleeve ball gown for Amy to wear Sunday. I know earlier today I ripped into this collection for being an Elie Saab knockoff, but this gown is one that I didn't see any Elie Saab inspiration in. The soft gold embellishments would look amazing against Amy's milky peachy skin. A soft up-do and gold sandals will finish this look off perfectly for the BAFTA's red carpet.
Emma Stone has been wearing a lot of black on the red carpet lately and I am wanting that to stop because the stunning red headed actress, nominated for a Best Supporting Actress BAFTA, wears color like no one else. With that being said, you might be looking at your screen lopsided since I have picked an almost all white gown for Emma to wear for the BAFTAs. Well yes this is the case. Since I first saw this white Giambattista Valli Fall 2014 Couture strapless gown with purple floral embellishments take to the runway last July I have been praying that we will see Emma wear this gown on the red carpet. I think it only appropriate to honor the red carpet where Emma really fell in love with fashion with an amazing and special gown. This would be an amazing glamourous goddess moment for Emma to make since she hasn't had a goddess moment in a while.
The buzz roaming the twittersphere is that after awards season is over will Christian Dior announce Felicity Jones as its next face? I have a feeling that this is definitely going to be the case. She has worn A LOT of Dior on the red carpets over the past 6 months and it has been the best relationship thus far. Aside from that I would love to see Best Leading Actress nominee wear this amazing Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2015 sleeveless evening gown that features a guipure construction with full threadwork embroidery in a floral motif and a fitted A-line silhouette. I think that this black gown with its bold floral embroidery is the perfect slight step out of Felicity's wheelhouse of all black, navy, and pastel colors. A chic up-do, diamond dazzlers in her ears, a black clutch, and a pair of black sandals would just make sure that Felicity kills the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw really earned her stripes on the red carpet circuit last year and I am praying that when she shows up on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards, where she is nominated for the Rising Star Award, that she gives me a red carpet look to die over. I picked this salmon orange Jason Wu Spring 2015 RTW silk gown. This is not the stereotypical awards show red carpet stunner but I think that with Gugu's amazing red carpet style and presence that this would hold its own against couture. A curly up do, a coral lip, gold metallic clutch, and a pair of gold pumps will make sure that this gown is styled perfectly to be able to hold its own against couture.
And finally for today I have a wish for Julianne Moore to wear for the BAFTA Awards where she is nominated for Best Leading Actress. The BAFTA's are just another stop for Julianne on the way to accepting her Academy Award for "Still Alice." I am not quite sure that Julianne will win the BAFTA, up against some strong British stars, but she will for sure bring it to the red carpet. I picked this Armani Prive Spring 2015 Couture ensemble. The almost black blue silk one shoulder silk top paired with a blue iridescent crystal embellished skirt would be an amazing look for Julianne. We have never seen Julianne wear an Armani Prive look but what better time to start when on the road to an Academy Award. I would snatch the runways clutch, add a pair of black sandals, pull her hair back (which she hasn't done this season for a major red carpet), and a red lip will ensure that Julianne keeps up her best dressed run at her BAFTAs stop.

Best Dressed at the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards

The Screen Actors Guild Awards were held last night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The stars came out in droves to support themselves and their nominated casts. Despite this being a night of honoring actors it was a plus one who took home my top honor. Camila Alves came on the arm of her hubby Matthew McConaughey. Camila definitely left her disheveled husband (like seriously whats up with the castaway beard?) in the dust wearing a stunning custom Donna Karan Atelier sculpturally draped eggplant strapless gown. Minimal styling and perfect hair and make up finished off a look that stood leaps and bounds above the actors on their big night.
Taking the menswear inspiration to a whole new level Emma Stone wore an impactful custom Christian Dior Couture ensemble. Had this been on anyone else I think that I would have been putting this on the worst dressed list, but Emma pull it off with major aplomb. The sleek hair, red lip, Repossi earcuffs, and Christian Louboutin sandals just sealed this look off with a sultry kiss. Julianne Moore, the Outstanding Female Actor in a Motion Picture winner, shocked me by wearing another custom Givenchy Couture gown on the red carpet last night. I had figured that after wearing Givenchy for the Golden Globe Awards (and topping best dressed lists in it) that Julianne would go to one of her other trusted brands (like Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford, or Balenciaga) for the SAG Awards. I am not complaining because Julianne looks amazing in this emerald beaded Givenchy Couture scoop neck gown. Green is always a delight to see on a red head and Julianne knows that formula very well. Felicity Jones really wowed me wearing this amazing soft pink custom Balenciaga column gown with a sculptural criss-cross portrait neckline. Felicity does this mix of modern and vintage so well and she is just living up to my title of One to Watch that I gave her at the end of last year.
Reese Witherspoon has been on and off of the best and worst dressed lists recently. I was happy that when she showed up at the Screen Actors Guild Awards last night that I was able to firmly put her on the best. Her custom one shoulder Giorgio Armani gown with subtle matte white sequin detailing, was an amazing refreshing modern choice. I am so used to seeing Reese in vintage inspired styles that this ultra modern look was something that I don't know if I would have predicted but I absolutely love. Uzo Aduba, who won Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series, really brought modern life to the red carpet in her Angel Sanchez Spring 2015 RTW gown. One of the few ladies on this list who got her gown off of the runway, I have to say that I was blown away. She has really stepped right into the role of red carpet diva. She keeps getting better and better with every single red carpet that she steps on. If you had told me that Sofia Vergara was going to show up at the SAG Awards in Donna Karan Atelier, I would have totally agreed (she has worn the brand to the SAGs for the past 3 years now), BUT if you had told me that it was not going to be a mermaid gown I would have laughed. I was pleasantly surprised to see Sofia wearing a soft draped Donna Karan Atelier corseted one shoulder red gown. The Colombian beauty really wowed. She showcased all of her famous curves without wearing something skin tight.
Another knock me down with a feather moment was when I realized that I was going to be putting Sarah Paulson on my best dressed list. The "American Horror Story" actress has never really been a favorite of mine, but she has been getting better with each appearance lately. This amazing Armani Prive ensemble that consisted of a white structured cape top and black silk crepe skirt was a red carpet knockout. She really showed her true beauty with this gown. Lupita Nyong'o really let me down at the Golden Globe Awards in Giambattista Valli, so I was really happy she redeemed herself last night. Lupita turned to the red carpet king, Elie Saab, and his Pre-Fall 2015 collection to pick her gown for this red carpet. Making a bold statement with this long sleeve multi pattern ball gown, I have to say that I let out a squeal when I saw a quick glimpse of her and it just got louder when I saw the whole look. And lastly, and I know that this will be a controversial choice, I have to say that I loved Claire Danes in her custom Marc Jacobs hunter green halter gown with side embellishments. Once I had pulled pictures of all of the stars and was looking to fill the last spot in my top 10 my eyes kept coming back to this design. I gotta say I am happy because for the past 2 years Claire has ended up on my worst dressed list for her SAG gown and this year it was something that I absolutely fell in love with.

Who did you love? Was there anyone that you think should have been on this list?

2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards: Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Movie Nominee Wish List

I was sad that Emma Stone skipped out on attending the Critics Choice Movie Awards last night. But since she is still doing her stint on Broadway in "Cabaret" I can understand, and will forgive her. She is bound to make an appearance at the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards next Sunday night where her supporting role in "Birdman," which I will be watching this evening, has earned her a nomination. I would love to see Emma in this J. Mendel Spring 2015 RTW crepe de chine one shoulder gown that features a one-shoulder neckline with fluid draped bodice in silk chiffon, and a skyscraper motif printed skirt in black, lime, and lemon with high front slit. I think that this gown is perfect for Emma's edgy yet glam personality. J. Mendel actually took to Instagram to congratulate Emma on her Academy Award nomination yesterday, so I am sure that we will see Emma in a design by the house sometime between now and the Vanity Fair Oscar After-Party. A pair of Jimmy Choo 'Thistle' sandals in black and lime, an Edie Parker white pearlescent clutch, and some Bulgari jewels including diamond, sapphire and peridot floral earrings, a vintage white porcelain, onyx and gold bracelet, and a Mediterranean peridot cocktail ring would be the perfect accessories that I would style with this gown to make it sing the most amazing red carpet song. Send Emma into hair and makeup to get a sleek slicked back hairstyle and a pink lip just to ensure that everything works well together.
After a rare misstep at the Golden Globe Awards, Keira Knightley was back in top form last night at the Critics Choice Movie Awards wearing Delpozo. I am praying to the fashion gods that her one misstep will be the only this awards season. For the Screen Actors Guild Awards I would really love to see Keira show off her burgeoning baby bump. This Valentino Fall 2011 Couture bias gown with a draped neck would be a perfect choice for Keira to make as it would just drape ever so elegantly over her bump but not completely conceal it. Crafted in the houses signature red color I think that this is a Valentino moment that needs to happen on the red carpet. Finish the look with gold pumps, a chic updo, and a red lip and Keira will for sure be on the best dressed list.
I have been pleasantly surprised by Meryl Streep as of late. Her red carpet dressing has been on a much higher level than what we are used to seeing her in. For the Screen Actors Guild Awards I would love to see her wear this Elie Saab Spring 2015 RTW ensemble that consists of a white double silk top with a black degrade effect at the top yoke and pointed collar and a white degrade double silk georgette skirt that features a white to black degrade effect and a front slit. While the slit would not be used to its advantage on Meryl would look absolutely amazing in this casual yet formal ensemble. A pair of black satin pumps, a black clutch, and some simple diamonds in her earrings will make absolutely amazing red carpet moment for Meryl at the SAG Awards.
Naomi Watts didn't really wow me during 2014 but at the Golden Globe Awards this past Sunday she blew me away in a custom canary yellow Gucci gown. I would love to see the actress, who is actually nominated at next Sundays SAG Awards, wear this silver Marchesa Spring 2015 RTW fully embroidered column gown with a deep scoop neckline, short sleeves, and beaded embroidery throughout creating a dynamic pattern and floral motif at the bodice. Naomi and Marchesa have a beautiful relationship and I am sure that at some point this awards season that the two will pair up for an amazing red carpet moment. Finish the look with a silver clutch, silver sandals, simple Bulgari diamond earrings, a vintage inspired hairstyle, and a bold red lip would make me fall in love with this look on Naomi at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
