2016 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4
Following her stunning white Yves Saint Laurent Couture goddess gown at the Golden Globe Awards and the announcement of her Academy Award nomination I expect that we will only see Saoirse on her top form from here on out. I was starting to doubt if I was actually going to like anything that the young Irish-American actress was going to wear on the red carpet but I am keeping my fingers crossed that we have come past that point. Nominated for Best Actress at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday I am hoping that Saoirse will break out some Chanel Couture for the red carpet. I would love to see Saoirse wearing this army green tulle Chanel Fall 2015 Couture full skirted cocktail dress with gold beaded embroidery on the bodice. While Saoirse has never worn a couture look from Chanel on a red carpet, what better time is there than for the race to the Oscars? Finished with a simple pair of gold sandals, a sleek up-do, and a fresh face of makeup and this will be a triumphant moment for Saoirse in her first Chanel Couture.
Sarah Paulson is not usually one of my favorites to see step out on a red carpet, I tend to find her stiff and standard. I am hoping that for the Critics Choice Awards that she softens her look just a little. With a well deserved Best Supporting Actress in a Movie Made for Television or Limited Series nomination for her role as Sally on American Horror Story: Hotel I am hoping that Sarah will give me a wonderful red carpet moment. I picked this tea rose Prabal Gurung Spring 2016 RTW ensemble which consists of a crepe de chine draped halter blouse and chiffon fit to flare evening skirt. I think that this relaxed look is more Sarah's speed, and the last time she wore Prabal at the 2015 Emmys she looked amazing, so I think that she could make this look work on the Critics red carpet. I would keep the styling chic and elegant with a gold clutch, a pair of gold peep toe pumps, a wavy hairstyle and a pink lip to ensure that Sarah looks beautiful on the red carpet.
Riding on the coattails of her Golden Globe Awards win for her role as Cookie on Empire I am sure that we will see Taraji P. Henson on the red carpet Sunday at the Critics Choice awards where she is nominated for the same role. Taraji is known now for not leaving Cookie on the floor when shooting is done giving us diva-Cookie-realness on the red carpet at all times. I am starting to give up on expecting her to give us glamour but I am hoping that she learns how to finesse her looks. At the Globes her Stella McCartney gown was stunning but where it should have been fitted perfectly it looked like it was bulging and that put me off from liking the look. If Taraji were to wear this black Mugler Spring 2016 RTW gown which sheath silhouette with a metal embellished v-neckline, leather detailing, and a front split I would be praying that she made sure that she has a good pair of spanks on. This gown gives us that glamorous sex siren style that Taraji is in favor of and I think that she could pull it off. A light lined eye, a red lip, a black Rauwolf clutch, and a pair of strappy black sandals would ensure that this is a great look for Taraji on the red carpet.
I am still trying to get a handle on what Tracee Ellis Ross's red carpet style really is. I have seen so many different types of looks on the Black-ish star but none that have seemed truly genuine. For the Critics Choice Awards I picked this gardenia white Elie Saab Spring 2016 RTW gown rendered in lace and features an a-line silhouette with a jewel neckline and an alternating geometric and floral pattern. I think that this chic more casual side of glamour is more Tracee's MO as the high glamour thing made her look uncomfortable. I think that with such a chic gown like this that Tracee would have a hard time not enjoying wearing it on the red carpet. Finish in a very chic way with a Rafe New York 'Sara' minaudiere (which is made of blacktab shell, blacklip mother of pearl, and white hammershell set in a brass inlay) to add some more visual interest, a pair of gold sandals, a red lip and a chic updo to ensure that this look is Critics Choice Awards red carpet ready.
Rounding out my wish lists for the 2016 Critics Choice Awards red carpet is Best Actress in a Drama Series nominee for How To Get Away With Murder's Viola Davis. I think that Viola has a lot of ups and downs on the red carpet. The Marchesa gown that she wore to the Golden Globe Awards this past Sunday was a little too much for her as I think simpler silhouettes tend to work better on Viola. I picked this white J. Mendel Pre-Fall 2016 halter gown which features black corded detailing and a flowing skirt because I think that this gown is simple enough with just the right amount of detailing to give Viola one of her best looks on a red carpet ever. Finish with a white Jimmy Choo Tube Clutch, a pair of black sandals, a red lip, curly bob, and diamond cluster earrings and this would be a personal best for Viola.

#Cannes2015: "Carol" Premiere Wish List
It will not shock anyone that I am probably most excited for the 2015 Cannes Film Festival premiere of "Carol" just because the Queen is going to be gracing the festival red carpet, yet again. Since "Carol" is premiering In Competition at the festival I am expecting nothing short of amazing coming from the entire cast. Cate Blanchett rarely makes a misstep on the red carpet, and I don't think that she ever has during the Cannes Film Festival and I am sure that streak won't end any time soon. For the "Carol" photocall I would love to see Cate wear this cornflower blue Armani Prive Spring 2015 Couture draped suit. This suit is elegance personified and I think that aside from couture clientele that Cate is the only woman that would wear this look. This look is easy and breezy while being crazy elegant, perfect for a photocall overlooking the French Riviera. For the premiere later in the day I would love to see Cate rock this Giambattista Valli Spring 2015 Couture yellow and pink silk jacquard ensemble that consists of a matching ball skirt and embellished blazer and a cream top. This look evokes the style of a 1960's socialite and I think that it would be a perfect red carpet moment.
When it comes to Rooney Mara I either love or hate what she wears. Mostly I find myself hating what she wears but I am hoping that since she will be standing next Cate Blanchett that Rooney will really bring it for the "Carol" photocall and premiere at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. Rooney tends to favor black and despite the location, which evokes light and airy colors, I am sure that she will rock mostly black ensembles. For the photocall I would love to see Rooney wear this Givenchy Pre-Fall 2015 draped blouse and aline tea length skirt. Despite the fact that this look is all black I think that this look still would fit on on the French Riviera. A pair of black Givenchy sandals would finish this look off perfectly. For the premiere I would love to see Rooney embrace a little color via the flowers embroidered on this Valentino Fall 2015 RTW sheer black lace gown. I think that this is a perfect look to mesh Rooney's dark style and the breeziness needed for the French Riviera.
Sarah Paulson either gets it right or wrong on the red carpet and I am hoping that if she is in Cannes to help Cate and Rooney promote "Carol" that she will be on top of her game. For the photocall I would love to see Sarah wear this Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2015 black and pink tiered dress. I think that this is a perfect photocall look for Cannes. Chic and elegant yet very soft. A pair of black sandals would finish the look and keep the air light for the outdoor photocall. For the premiere I would have Sarah turn to Zac Posen and his Fall 2015 RTW collection to get her hands on this navy blue anatomical slash gown rendered in crepe jersey and features a v neck with a keyhole and
cutouts at the collarbone, cap sleeves, an open back, ruching at the
bodice and a fluid floor length silhouette. This gown would make for an elegant Cannes red carpet appearance. Finished with a pair of black simple sandals, a black Edie Parker confetti clutch, and simple earrings would ensure that Sarah puts her best foot forward for this premiere.
Are you as excited to see Cate Blanchett at Cannes as I am? What do you think she will wear? The festival stars in 13 more days!

Best Dressed at the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards
The Screen Actors Guild Awards were held last night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The stars came out in droves to support themselves and their nominated casts. Despite this being a night of honoring actors it was a plus one who took home my top honor. Camila Alves came on the arm of her hubby Matthew McConaughey. Camila definitely left her disheveled husband (like seriously whats up with the castaway beard?) in the dust wearing a stunning custom Donna Karan Atelier sculpturally draped eggplant strapless gown. Minimal styling and perfect hair and make up finished off a look that stood leaps and bounds above the actors on their big night.
Taking the menswear inspiration to a whole new level Emma Stone wore an impactful custom Christian Dior Couture ensemble. Had this been on anyone else I think that I would have been putting this on the worst dressed list, but Emma pull it off with major aplomb. The sleek hair, red lip, Repossi earcuffs, and Christian Louboutin sandals just sealed this look off with a sultry kiss. Julianne Moore, the Outstanding Female Actor in a Motion Picture winner, shocked me by wearing another custom Givenchy Couture gown on the red carpet last night. I had figured that after wearing Givenchy for the Golden Globe Awards (and topping best dressed lists in it) that Julianne would go to one of her other trusted brands (like Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford, or Balenciaga) for the SAG Awards. I am not complaining because Julianne looks amazing in this emerald beaded Givenchy Couture scoop neck gown. Green is always a delight to see on a red head and Julianne knows that formula very well. Felicity Jones really wowed me wearing this amazing soft pink custom Balenciaga column gown with a sculptural criss-cross portrait neckline. Felicity does this mix of modern and vintage so well and she is just living up to my title of One to Watch that I gave her at the end of last year.
Reese Witherspoon has been on and off of the best and worst dressed lists recently. I was happy that when she showed up at the Screen Actors Guild Awards last night that I was able to firmly put her on the best. Her custom one shoulder Giorgio Armani gown with subtle matte white sequin detailing, was an amazing refreshing modern choice. I am so used to seeing Reese in vintage inspired styles that this ultra modern look was something that I don't know if I would have predicted but I absolutely love. Uzo Aduba, who won Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series, really brought modern life to the red carpet in her Angel Sanchez Spring 2015 RTW gown. One of the few ladies on this list who got her gown off of the runway, I have to say that I was blown away. She has really stepped right into the role of red carpet diva. She keeps getting better and better with every single red carpet that she steps on. If you had told me that Sofia Vergara was going to show up at the SAG Awards in Donna Karan Atelier, I would have totally agreed (she has worn the brand to the SAGs for the past 3 years now), BUT if you had told me that it was not going to be a mermaid gown I would have laughed. I was pleasantly surprised to see Sofia wearing a soft draped Donna Karan Atelier corseted one shoulder red gown. The Colombian beauty really wowed. She showcased all of her famous curves without wearing something skin tight.
Another knock me down with a feather moment was when I realized that I was going to be putting Sarah Paulson on my best dressed list. The "American Horror Story" actress has never really been a favorite of mine, but she has been getting better with each appearance lately. This amazing Armani Prive ensemble that consisted of a white structured cape top and black silk crepe skirt was a red carpet knockout. She really showed her true beauty with this gown. Lupita Nyong'o really let me down at the Golden Globe Awards in Giambattista Valli, so I was really happy she redeemed herself last night. Lupita turned to the red carpet king, Elie Saab, and his Pre-Fall 2015 collection to pick her gown for this red carpet. Making a bold statement with this long sleeve multi pattern ball gown, I have to say that I let out a squeal when I saw a quick glimpse of her and it just got louder when I saw the whole look. And lastly, and I know that this will be a controversial choice, I have to say that I loved Claire Danes in her custom Marc Jacobs hunter green halter gown with side embellishments. Once I had pulled pictures of all of the stars and was looking to fill the last spot in my top 10 my eyes kept coming back to this design. I gotta say I am happy because for the past 2 years Claire has ended up on my worst dressed list for her SAG gown and this year it was something that I absolutely fell in love with.
Who did you love? Was there anyone that you think should have been on this list?

2013 Golden Globe Awards Wish List: Best Supporting Actress in a TV Show
Here we have the final round of nominees, these lovely ladies are nominated for their roles as Best Supporting Actress in a TV Show for their respective programs. Archie Panjabi has never held a Golden Globe nomination for her work on 'The Good Wife' despite taking home the Emmy back in 2010 and maintaining a nomination in this category at the Emmy's every year since the show took off. The British Indian beauty loves to wear either very light colored and ethereal or bold and structured gowns on the red carpet. For the 2013 Golden Globe Awards I have chosen to put Archie in this stunning grape purple Angel Sanchez Resort 2013 gown. This simple aline skirt with a structured peplum bodice detailed with shimmering laser cutouts would look divine on Mrs Panjabi. Finish this look with a silver mirrored box clutch, matching purple peep toe pumps, a dazzling pair of diamond earrings complimented by and updo and she is set to wow amongst some of the red carpet worlds heaviest hitters.
Hayden Panettiere is not one of my favorites to see grace the red carpet. More often than not she wears looks that wash her out or are just to bulky for her small frame. I have chosen to put the actress nominated for her work in the hit series 'Nashville' in this gold Zuhair Murad Spring 2013 RTW gown. I think that this gown would be lovely on Hayden as it would just make her glow unlike the blush pink dresses she tends to favor that do her no favors. Pair this dress with a gold and turquoise Marchesa clutch, Jimmy Choo 'Belle' sandals with turquoise stones and gold fringe, as well as some gold and turquoise drop earrings and I think we have a winning look.
Sarah Paulson is nominated in this category for her role in the HBO TV movie 'Game Change.' The actress stunned wearing an dusty blue Reem Acra ball gown for the 2012 Emmy Awards. For this years Golden Globe Awards I am hoping to see Sarah Wear this Tadashi Shoji Spring 2013 RTW gown. I have been in love with this gown and it has the potential to make it into an Academy Awards wish list if it doesn't get worn before then. I think Sarah would do this dress justice and that is saying a lot because she is the exact opposite of who I plan to wish for this dress for the Oscars. Pair this with a gold metallic clutch and some gold strappy sandals and she is set to stun.
And last but not least for the nominees we have Colombian beauty Sofia Vergara who is once again nominated for her work in 'Modern Family.' I have missed seeing Miss Vergara wear the designs of Carolina Herrera on the red carpet. If she is one of the few that Carolina will lend clothing to why hasn't she worn her beautiful gown in so long. Well I am wishing to change that by hoping to see her wear this dot printed Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2013 gown. I think that Sofia is one of the few who has the presence to pull this gown off. Simple diamond jewelry and silver peep toe pumps are all that is needed to finish this look as the dress speaks on its own enough without loads of styling.
