2016 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 15

Hilary Swank usually knocks it out of the park when she steps out on the red carpet and I am hoping that she will be one of the many stars to grace the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Hilary has an animated movie coming out this year (as well as being a Vanity Fair party regular) so I think the chances of her showing up are quite high. I would love to see Hilary work the red carpet in this dusty rose and mauve Valentino Pre-Fall 2016 long sleeve embroidered gown. This gown is classic and elegant with modern Japanese inspired embroidery which I think would make for a very romantic red carpet moment for Hilary. Keeping the look romantic with a chic updo, a gold clutch, and a pair of gold sandals would ensure that the romanticism of this gown is on full display.
Last year Karolina Kurkova took to the red carpet at the Academy Awards, Elton John AIDS Foundation, and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party as a promotional deal for Chopard. While I loved her Vanity Fair look I was underwhelms by her other looks. I am used to Karolina giving some of the most glam avant garde red carpet looks. For this years Vanity Fair party I would love to see Karolina wearing this black Brandon Maxwell Fall 2016 RTW column gown with a dramatic bust ruffle. I think that this gown will either end up on the back of Lady Gaga or a supermodel, I don't think anyone else has the chutzpah to pull this gown off. With such a dramatic ruffle I would have Karolina style her hair into a tight low bun, add a pair of diamond drop earrings (but nothing to big), add a red lip, a black crystal embellished Alexander McQueen clutch, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin sandals and this look is set to wow on the red carpet.
Michelle Monaghan has been faltering with her red carpet style recently. I usually love what the actress wears on the red carpet but the ugly shapeless orange and blue Prabal Gurung gown that Michelle wore to the Warner Bros/InStyle Golden Globes party was a disaster. I am praying that glam Michelle is back on the red carpet come Oscar night. To get her back on track I picked this amazing wine Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2016 gown rendered in double face duchesse satin and features a mermaid silhouette with a wrap around off the shoulder neckline and a flounced asymmetrical hem. I think that this gown is a dramatic and classic look all at the same time. This makes me think of some of the great looks that came out of the 1940's and I am hoping that is the way that Michelle would take the styling. A chic vintage inspired updo, a pair of diamond drop earrings, a dyed to match satin box clutch, and a pair of dyed to match peep toe pumps would ensure that Michelle is back on top form.
Miley Cyrus is a usual at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party, and since her name has been back in the headlines again I am wondering if she will be out on Oscar night. If she were to attend the Elton John party I would kinda like to see edgy glam Miley on the red carpet over whacked out Miley. I think that this black Alexander Wang Pre-Fall 2016 rouched crepe jersey gown which features a leather harness-like grommeted detail would be a perfect look to mesh edge and glamour for Oscar night. When it comes to Miley I have a love or loathe type of relationship and her loathe usually comes when she takes things too far. Her blonde pixie cut, a black clutch, and a pair of black sandals would ensure that Miley has a glam rocker moment on Hollywood's biggest night.
Rounding out my final post of Oscar party wishes is Viola Davis, whom I am expecting to grace the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party since she was one of the cover girls of the magazines 2016 Hollywood issue. After the backlash of #OscarsSoWhite I am interested to see which African-American stars show up on the Oscar night red carpets. I hope that doesn't mean Viola won't be out as she earned her place on that Vanity Fair cover. I would love to see Viola wearing this bordeaux banded jersey knit Roberto Cavalli Pre-Fall 2016 sheath gown with a criss-cross halter neckline, and triangle cutouts at the bodice and back. We have not seen the sexier side of Viola in a while and I think an Oscar party is the perfect place for that side of her to show up on the red carpet. A black clutch, a pair of black sandals, a red lip, diamond drop earrings, and a wavy bob would ensure that Viola really brings it to the Vanity Fair red carpet.

15 posts and 75 wishes later that concludes all my wishes for the Vanity Fair and Elton John Oscar parties. Some of these people I know will be out on Oscar night and some of them I do not. Tomorrow will be a quick post for some ladies to wear amazing looks for the Costume Designers Guild Awards and then the big main stage Oscars posts start on Monday with the nominees. I will be live tweeting the Academy Awards next Sunday night. Are you going to pour yourself a glass of champagne and join me?

2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Wish List Part 1

I am taking a break from the main ceremony to focus on some of the Oscar night parties for the next few days. These events can be just as glam and give just as much high fashion as the main show does. Amy Adams did not receive an Oscar nomination this year but I am still praying that she decides to hit up a few of the parties. I would love to see Amy on the Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpet wearing this shocking pink Schiaparelli Spring 2015 Couture silk gown. The silhouette of this gown is one we don't see from Amy very often but I think that the simple style with the bold color and pattern would just sing a beautiful with Amy on the red carpet.
Anna Kendrick is going to be performing at the Academy Awards ceremony next Sunday night and then I am sure she will head out to the parties. I am also figuring that Anna will make a costume change on her way. I created this wish before she was announced as a performer at the ceremony so I do not know if Anna would wear a ball gown, but I would love to see her wear this amazing black and white liquid organza Naeem Khan Pre-Fall 2015 gown that features a sweetheart neckline with multiple thin camisole-style straps, a black floral lace bodice that falls to a white floor length a-line skirt. This is a very pretty gown and I think that Anna would rock it on the red carpet. Old Hollywood waves, a red lip, a black Edie Parker clutch and a pair of black strappy Christian Louboutin sandals would be the perfect finishing touches to put Anna on top of the Best Dressed lists.
The Best Supporting Actress nominated Emma Stone usually changes out of her Oscars ceremony gown and into a second look for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. I have a feeling that is going to be the case next Sunday night. I picked a beautiful blue and gold Valentino Couture ballgown for Emma to wear for the ceremony so I figured I would give her something that wasn't as much for the Vanity Fair Party. I picked this light gold embroidered high neck gown from the Valentino "Sala Bianca" Haute Couture collection that was presented to commemorate the reopening of the Valentino NYC Flagship. This collection has been receiving a lot of red carpet love and I am sure that time is nowhere near up. I think that this gold gown would make Emma look like a flaming goddess. Finish the look with a gold Lee Savage clutch, a pink lip and a pair of gold sandals and Emma will show why she is one of the best dressed women on the red carpet scene.
Emmy Rossum is going to be hosting the Costume Designers Guild Awards on Tuesday night so I am hoping that she will stay in LA through Oscars night and attend the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party. Emmy is one of my favorite women who rocks red carpets. Very rarely does Emmy disappoint on the red carpet. I would love to see Emmy wear this heavy georgette Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2015 halter gown with a front opening that reveals a vibrant orchid print. I love this gown. When this gown is not in motion this gown you don't really see the print but it is a fun unexpected punch.
I could not find a Dior gown for Felicity Jones to wear for the actual Academy Awards ceremony, even though I feel like she will wear a custom dress. I would love to see her change into this floral print Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture cocktail dress with side cutouts. This is a mix of 50's housewife and ultra sleek modernity. This is something that I really want to see Felicity do on the red carpet. She does the prim look so well it would be nice to see Felicity wear something with a little edge. Silver sandals and chic hair and  makeup would finish this look off perfectly for the Vanity Fair Oscars After-Party red carpet.
This year Gwen Stefani is rumored to be dropping not only an album with No Doubt but also releasing another solo album. I would love to see Gwen on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Party next Sunday night. The Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2015 Couture collection was really popular for Grammy weekend and I think that Gwen should get her hands on this collection. I would love to see Gwen wear this silver sequined long sleeve Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2015 Couture gown with a plunging neckline and split to there. The belt reminds me of a heavyweight championship belt so I would probably switch it up and pair it with a black Alaia belt, black sandals, a red lip sand some stunning Chopard diamond earrings to ensure that Gwen is a red carpet hit.
Hilary Swank always wows the fuck out of me. There is something about her grace and elegance that I just love to see her in what ever she wears. I would love to see Hilary wear this Elie Saab brown and blue long sleeve mermaid gown with sweeping train and all over embellishments from the Fall 2014 Couture collection. This gown would be a stunning look for Hilary to wear for the Vanity Fair Party. It is chic and sophisticated and Hilary would infuse sex into the look. A blue clutch, old Hollywood waves and a pair of black sandals would finish this look off perfectly for the Vanity Fair red carpet.

2014 End of the Year Awards: Best Promotional Tour of 2014

If you had told me at the beginning of 2014 that the Best Promotional Tour of the Year was not going to come from a "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" cast member then I would have probably laughed in your face, but alas this was the case. Hilary Swank really showed up this year working the promotional road all the way from the Cannes Film Festival in May to the AFI Fest just last month. It was a road filled with couture and avant garde looks that just made my heart melt. It is honestly extremely hard to pick an absolute favorite, but ultimately I have to say that her white one shoulder custom Atelier Versace gown at the films premiere at the Cannes Film Festival probably helped tipped the scale ensuring that Hilary won this award.

2014 Hollywood Film Awards: Guest Wish List Part 2

Angelina Jolie will be on hand tomorrow night at the Hollywood Film Awards which will kick off her Oscar campaign. The actress and director is, at least on paper, a shoe-in for a Best Picture and Best Director nomination at the 2015 Academy Awards for her film "Unbroken" that will premiere later this year. I am very excited because when Angie is nominated she knows how to be on point. I figure that will be the case when she shows up for the Hollywood Film Awards tomorrow night. I have saved this white Atelier Versace Spring 2014 Couture long sleeve gown which features silver beading and an open cut out back. I am sure that we will see Mrs Jolie-Pitt in more than one look from Atelier Versace as she has such a good relationship with the house, and they almost always make red carpet magic together. The collections signature headscarf would be removed as it just does not suit Angie; and a pair of white Saint Laurent pumps would be added to ensure that this is a perfect red carpet ensemble for Mrs Jolie.
With a slight misstep in Antonio Berardi at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Governors Awards this past Saturday, I am hoping that at the Hollywood Film Awards Hilary Swank will be back to her best as she really has been on a roll this year. I think that this Marchesa Resort 2015 pale coral sleeveless silk crepe cocktail dress that features a gathered neckline with draped rose detail at shoulder, peplum waist, and a slim-fit knee-length skirt with side slit accent would be the most elegant and glamorous choice for Hilary to make for this occasion. Stars show up in everything from short to long dresses for this event and I am figuring more stars will opt for shorter dresses this year. A pair of metallic gold pumps, a metallic gold box clutch, and a simple updo will finish this look off perfectly for Hilary for the Hollywood Film Awards red carpet.
Janelle Monae will be on hand at the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards as the house performer for the evening. The R&B/Soul singer is known for her masculine style of dressing always working a variation of the pantsuit for the red carpet. I am a firm believer in personal style but I am hoping for something a little more modern from Janelle at the Hollywood Film Awards tomorrow night. It is for that reason that I picked this look from the Alexander Wang Spring 2015 RTW collection. The look which consists of a double face compact cotton cropped jacked with knit mesh belt, white couture cotton tee, and double weave crepe high waisted referee pants with a mesh stripe down the side. I think that this is a sleeker look than Janelle usually rocks, as her looks usually consist of ruffled shirts. Her signature broach could be worn on the lapel of the jacket; add a pair of metallic silver Saint Laurent pumps and a bold red lip and this look is performance ready.
Keira Knightley, like many of the other ladies preparing for a slew of awards nominations, has been 100% on point recently and I am excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet tomorrow night at the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards. I personally really want to see Keira wear some color (other than black, deep blue, and gold) so I went back to the Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture collection and picked this raspberry red long sleeved floral embellished cocktail dress which hits just below the knee. I love the vintage 1950s feel that this dress gives off and I think that Keira would inject some sexy modernity into this classic dress. A pair of gold sandals and a sleek hairstyle would ensure that Keira has the perfect red carpet look for the Hollywood Film Awards.

2014 AFI Fest: "The Homesman" Premiere Wish List

Some light possible Oscar buzz has been buzzing around for a possible acting nomination for Hilary Swank because of her role in "The Homesman." I am sure that has had some impact on the extremely strong promo tour that she has had with this film, she is definitely a front runner for best promo tour right this moment. Another Cannes film that will screen during the 2014 AFI Fest, it is a gala premiere on Tuesday, I am very excited to see what Hilary will wear for this premiere. I would pick this Giambattista Valli Fall 2014 Couture strapless floral embroidered cocktail dress. This is a feminine beautiful elegant choice perfect for a gala premiere. I would have the skirt lined in cream because I do not see the 40 year actress wearing the bodysuit runway version. A pair of gold pumps, a gold clutch, and soft waves over one shoulder would ensure that Hilary has yet another winning look on this promo tour further solidifying her as the promo tour star of the year

Runway Report: Tory Burch Resort 2015

Almost every collection (Spring, Fall, Pre-Fall, and Resort) seems like a Resort collection when presented by Tory Burch. They all have a light breezy air about them. The Tory Burch Resort 2015 collection is along the same lines. This collection with its muted tones and classic patterns would not look out of place in resort towns like Cannes or Saint-Tropez. The buttery yellow, cornflower blue, dusty brown, beige, and cream colors of this collection will fly off of racks in stores as they are everyday wearable. This collection is perfect for more casual events and street style and the celebrities that I picture wearing these collection. 60's styles dominated this collection as they have been trending on the runways since Spring 2014 collection started rolling out.

2014 Cannes Film Festival: 'The Homesman' and 'Le Meraviglie' Premieres Wish List

I was looking at premiere dates, as they were released just the other day, and 'The Homesman' and 'Le Meraviglie' are premiering on the same day. The first set of stars to take to the red carpet will be the cast of Tommy Lee Jones' 'The Homesman.' Hilary Swank is amongst the glamorous cast of the film and will return to the croisette for the first time since 2009. I am super excited to for Hilary to take to this red carpet because she is one of my favorites to see take to the red carpet. The moment I saw this black to silver embellished ombre gown on the Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture runway livestream I yelled "HILARY SWANK NEEDS THIS GOWN,' and the Cannes Film Festival is the perfect red carpet to make this paring since she wasn't at the Academy Awards. A glamorous up do, a red lip, a black Edie Parker clutch, black Christian Louboutin sandals, and a dazzling pair of Chopard diamond earrings will just make this look even more perfect.
If Meryl Streep flies to Cannes it will be her first appearance at the festival in YEARS, and I mean like 15+ years. I either love or hate Meryl's red carpet style and I am hoping that if Meryl takes to the croisette that she will deliver a stunning red carpet moment. I think that this Valentino Spring 2014 Couture long sleeve lace gown is absolutely perfect for the 64 year old actress to wear on the red carpet. I do figure that if Meryl does take to this red carpet that she will wear a custom Lanvin creation, but this Valentino is what I would pick for her from the current stock of available runway gowns. This gown doesn't need many accessories but I would add a brown/bronze Edie Parker clutch, a pair of brown satin pumps dyed to match would make this a perfect look for the Cannes red carpet.
Model and Actress Monica Bellucci will be premiering her new film 'La Meraviglie' at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Most known for being a face of Dolce & Gabbana I am sure that the Italian model will select a gown from the brand. I think that this black silk and sequin Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2014 RTW strapless gown would be a beautiful option for Monica to make even though I am sure that she will wear a custom made creation. As long as it isn't a mermaid bustier or mermaid lace strapless gown I think I will be okay with it but I really hope that Dolce goes all out in their creation for this festival taking inspiration for a bespoke piece from the Fall 2014 RTW.
Like I have continuously said in my posts over the next few days I am really wanting to see Sofia Coppola expand her red carpet horizons over the course of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. If the jury takes to the red carpet during this premiere I have picked this navy blue and black Ulyana Sergeenko Spring 2014 Couture draped tuxedo inspired gown for Sofia to wear. This is very much in her color comfort zone but is much more formal than almost every single one of her red carpet ensembles to date, but this is Cannes where everything is bigger and better. Like with most of her looks a black Louis Vuitton clutch and simple black sandals will put the finishing touches on a simple but beautiful ensemble for the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.
In 2013 Christian Dior was throwing clothing at stars of every caliber that were taking to big red carpets, which helped the brand land the Red Carpet Designer of the Year in 2013. I do not think that that momentum has slowed down any in 2014 with 23 looks already sitting in my best dressed folder. I think of all the jury members in Cannes this year that Jeon Do-Yeon is the one that is most likely to snag a Christian Dior creation for the red carpet. On Wednesday of last week Raf Simons showed the Christian Dior Resort 2014 collection at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and I think that this tie-dye inspired gown with a black skirt and white, pink, and red on the blouse is a pick that would look stunning on Jeon. A pink clutch, black sandals, a pink lip and a vintage inspired up-do would make this look perfect especially if topped off with some stunning Chopard diamonds.

2014 Cannes Film Festival: Photocall Wish List Part 1

Ladies and Gentlemen the time that I have been waiting for all year is almost upon us, the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Over the 11 day festival, which kicks off on May 15th and comes to a close on May 2, we are guaranteed to see several Best Dressed of the Year worthy ensembles. In the past 3 years 10 of the 30 best dressed looks have come from Cannes, so I have high expectations. Prior to all of the stars donning their couture on the red carpet and premiering their film they all take to the terrace and press room for a photocall and press conference. These still bring amazing, yet much more casual, looks. Berenice Bejo has been a staple at Cannes since premiering 'The Artist' in 2011, so it really isn't a surprise to see the French actress will be on hand to premiere a film this year. For the 'The Search' photocall and press conference, which is premiering In Competition, I would love to see Berenice wear this 1970's style Gucci Pre-Fall 2014 long sleeved dress. It is a sexy ensemble that mixes hard leather with a lightweight fabric and I think would look amazing on the French actress. A simple pair of Saint Laurent 'Jane' sandals and a loose ponytail would make this the perfect look for a Cannes photocall.
Hilary Swank will be on hand in the French seaside city during the festival to premiere her film 'The Homesman' In Competition with Meryl Streep. I am also hoping that Hilary will wear an Elie Saab gown for the premiere, but I will post that in a few days. For the photocall and press conference for the film I would love to see Hilary rock a jumpsuit. Most actress wear floating pretty dresses so this would be a welcome change of pace. This Elie Saab Fall 2014 RTW suit inspired jumpsuit is sleek and sexy. While this is most likely destined for a movie premiere or a cocktail party, I think that the Cannes terrace is a a perfect location to roll this look out. Hair down and a pair of gold pointed toe Casadei pumps would be the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.
Jessica Chastain is another that has been on the scene in Cannes since her first film premiere 'The Tree of Life' also in 2011. Chastain is almost always a welcome note on the red carpet and has become one of my favorites to look out for. While in Cannes to premiere her film 'Eleanor Rigby' in the Un Certain Regard selection of the festival. Seen as the edgier films that premiere during the festival I am interested to see what Mrs Chastain will rock on the red carpet. For the photocall I think that black, aqua, and green Oscar de la Renta Fall 2014 RTW floating dress is perfect for the occasion. This is a look that Jessica would normally rock and is nothing outside of her normal box of red carpet dressing. A pair of metallic gold sandals and her hair pulled up would be how I finish off this stunning look for a Cannes Photocall.
Last but not least for today is Kristen Stewart who will be premiering her film 'The Clouds of Sills Maria' on the Croisette. The last time Kristen was in Cannes, to promote 'On the Road' in 2012, Kristen really stepped up her red carpet game and I am having no doubts that she is going to do the same again this year. Aside from 2 or 3 red carpets last year, Kristen was relatively unseen on the red carpets so I will be interested to see if she brings a big moment or sticks to her more simplistic style. For the photocall I think that this white long sleeved Versace Spring 2014 RTW asymmetrical dress embellished with gold buttons. I am excited to see what this look will bring. A pair of gold pumps would finish off this perfect look.

Runway Report: Armani Prive Spring 2014 Couture

Giorgio Armani turned to shades of silvers and blues for his Armani Prive Spring 2014 Couture collection. The 52 look collection, that consisted mostly of red carpet ready gowns and silk jacket/pant combos, really spoke to this glamour and play on light and dark. The collection is entitled 'Nomad' by Mr Armani and I can totally see this collection being the wardrobe to a very sophisticated gypsy woman who roams the world adding items from her many travels. There are very European silhouettes paired with beading that would not be out on Byzantine architecture. I am sure that we will be seeing quite a few of these gowns on Oscar night! Which ones? Only time will tell. Will Cate Blanchett, the face of the fragrance 'Si' by Armani, wear a look from this collection on Oscar night? I can see a a bevy of international beauties wearing this collection including Zhang Ziyi, Hilary Swank, Margot Robbie, Zoe Saldana, Blanca Suarez, Milla Jovovich, Eva Riccobono, Michelle Dockery, Stacy Keibler, Keira Knightley, Michelle Yeoh, Jessica Chastain, Julianna Margulies, Fan Bingbing, Celine Dion, Paz Vega, Rihanna, Kate Beckinsale, Naomi Watts, Elizabeth Banks, Kristin Scott Thomas, Lucy Liu, Reese Witherspoon, Penelope Cruz, Emily Blunt, Alicia Keys, and Eva Mendes just to name a few. Seated front row to take in the collection as it took to the runway was Paloma Faith, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Zhang Ziyi. Which gowns do you want to see at the Academy Awards? Who can you see wearing this collection?

Runway Report: Atelier Versace Spring 2014 Couture

This week started with the first of the Spring 2014 Couture collections being presented, Atelier Versace. The house which actually kicked off the shows on Sunday night being the only house to present that day and did so in standard Versace excess. Lady Gaga served as part of the inspiration, she is the face of the Versace Spring 2014 RTW campaign, and even soundtracked the runway show with her song 'Donatella.' Each look seemed to evoke a different type of sexy, from sophisticated to overtly sexy. I can see the Gaga influence among that of other iconic women like Grace Jones, Marylin Monroe, Joan Crawford, and Rita Hayworth. I believe that if any of these women were still alive and walked the red carpet tomorrow they would wear one of these looks. I can see a host of Versace ladies wearing this collection including (but not limited too) Nina Dobrev, Miley Cyrus, Angelina Jolie, Hilary Swank, Uma Thurman, Elizabeth Banks, Dita von Teese, Heidi Klum, Lupita Nyong'o, Jessica Chastain, Kate Beckinsale, Claire Danes, Jennifer Hudson, Diane Kruger, Kate Hudson, Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez, as well as a bevy of other beauties. My four favorite looks from the collection are posted below, as is the runway video. Too sexy? Sultry and glamorous? What are your thoughts on the Atelier Versace Spring 2014 Couture collection?

Runway Report: Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture

This morning in Paris one of my favorite red carpet designers Elie Saab debuted his Spring 2014 Couture collection. The collection that is entitled 'The Promise of Spring' embodied an extremely glamorous woman who bloomed with the pastel colored florals of an English garden. With a color palette that consists of pale budding pinks, blue hydrangea, lilac, rose d'or, pure white, and some charcoal black the collection really embodied spring. I can see these gowns on the red carpets of the Academy Awards, Met Ball (as this years theme is Charles James: Beyond Fashion), and the Cannes Film Festival. A whole slew of actresses, singers, and red carpet elite come to mind as I see each look stride and float ever so elegantly down the runway. I can see Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightley, Kate Beckinsale, Diane Kruger, Lupita Nyong'o. Amy Adams, Berenice Bejo, Emilia Clarke, Gwyneth Paltrow, Helen Mirren, Jessica Chastain, Kate Bosworth, Michelle Dockery, Sandra Bullock, Taylor Swift, Uma Thurman, Jennifer Hudson, Julia Roberts, Nieves Alvarez, Kerry Washington, Nina Dobrev, Reese Witherspoon, Emmy Rossum, and Celine Dion wearing among many others. Perched along the front row included Cannes Film Festival regulars Olga Kurylenko, Paz Vega, and Princess Clotilde Courau. I can see these women working the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals in Cannes in several of these gowns and only time will tell which ones make it. Bellow are my 4 favorite looks from the collection and my initial thoughts on who should wear them. What are yours?
