2014 Cannes Film Festival: 'Saint Laurent' Premiere Wish List

Lea Seydoux will be in Cannes this year to premiere her Yves Saint Laurent biopic 'Saint Laurent' in competition on May 17th. As a face of Prada and Miu Miu there has only been one look not from the brand worn by Lea on the red carpet. I am hoping though that Lea will wear Saint Laurent for this premiere. I saw this stunning red Saint Laurent Fall 2014 RTW sequin cocktail dress and thought how it would make the perfect gown for a Cannes premiere if lengthened into a circle skirt. This would be the perfect mix of the classic and modern Saint Laurent brand and a bold statement for the Cannes red carpet instead of classic. A sleek up-do, red lips, no clutch, simple Saint Laurent 'Janis' sandals in black, and simple sleek diamond jewels would make this look 1,000% perfect for Cannes.
In total opposite of what I want to see Lea wear on this red carpet is the golden Alexis Mabille Spring 2014 Couture goddess draped gown that I want to see Jeon Do-Yeon. I figure that Jeon will end up being my stand out star on the 2014 Cannes Film Festival jury and I really hope that I am right. I know I have said it before but coming off stars like Kate Beckinsale, Diane Kruger, and Uma Thurman, I am weary of this years red carpets. Those three ladies all gave me looks that I put on my Best Dressed of the Year list and the likes of Nicole Kidman came very close. Well enough rant back to the clothes! I think that this golden gown would be would be pretty on Jeon with its classic silhouette and simple embellishments. A gold clutch, gold sandals, and simple jewels would all compliment this gown perfectly for this red carpet.

2014 Cannes Film Festival: 'The Homesman' and 'Le Meraviglie' Premieres Wish List

I was looking at premiere dates, as they were released just the other day, and 'The Homesman' and 'Le Meraviglie' are premiering on the same day. The first set of stars to take to the red carpet will be the cast of Tommy Lee Jones' 'The Homesman.' Hilary Swank is amongst the glamorous cast of the film and will return to the croisette for the first time since 2009. I am super excited to for Hilary to take to this red carpet because she is one of my favorites to see take to the red carpet. The moment I saw this black to silver embellished ombre gown on the Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture runway livestream I yelled "HILARY SWANK NEEDS THIS GOWN,' and the Cannes Film Festival is the perfect red carpet to make this paring since she wasn't at the Academy Awards. A glamorous up do, a red lip, a black Edie Parker clutch, black Christian Louboutin sandals, and a dazzling pair of Chopard diamond earrings will just make this look even more perfect.
If Meryl Streep flies to Cannes it will be her first appearance at the festival in YEARS, and I mean like 15+ years. I either love or hate Meryl's red carpet style and I am hoping that if Meryl takes to the croisette that she will deliver a stunning red carpet moment. I think that this Valentino Spring 2014 Couture long sleeve lace gown is absolutely perfect for the 64 year old actress to wear on the red carpet. I do figure that if Meryl does take to this red carpet that she will wear a custom Lanvin creation, but this Valentino is what I would pick for her from the current stock of available runway gowns. This gown doesn't need many accessories but I would add a brown/bronze Edie Parker clutch, a pair of brown satin pumps dyed to match would make this a perfect look for the Cannes red carpet.
Model and Actress Monica Bellucci will be premiering her new film 'La Meraviglie' at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Most known for being a face of Dolce & Gabbana I am sure that the Italian model will select a gown from the brand. I think that this black silk and sequin Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2014 RTW strapless gown would be a beautiful option for Monica to make even though I am sure that she will wear a custom made creation. As long as it isn't a mermaid bustier or mermaid lace strapless gown I think I will be okay with it but I really hope that Dolce goes all out in their creation for this festival taking inspiration for a bespoke piece from the Fall 2014 RTW.
Like I have continuously said in my posts over the next few days I am really wanting to see Sofia Coppola expand her red carpet horizons over the course of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. If the jury takes to the red carpet during this premiere I have picked this navy blue and black Ulyana Sergeenko Spring 2014 Couture draped tuxedo inspired gown for Sofia to wear. This is very much in her color comfort zone but is much more formal than almost every single one of her red carpet ensembles to date, but this is Cannes where everything is bigger and better. Like with most of her looks a black Louis Vuitton clutch and simple black sandals will put the finishing touches on a simple but beautiful ensemble for the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.
In 2013 Christian Dior was throwing clothing at stars of every caliber that were taking to big red carpets, which helped the brand land the Red Carpet Designer of the Year in 2013. I do not think that that momentum has slowed down any in 2014 with 23 looks already sitting in my best dressed folder. I think of all the jury members in Cannes this year that Jeon Do-Yeon is the one that is most likely to snag a Christian Dior creation for the red carpet. On Wednesday of last week Raf Simons showed the Christian Dior Resort 2014 collection at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and I think that this tie-dye inspired gown with a black skirt and white, pink, and red on the blouse is a pick that would look stunning on Jeon. A pink clutch, black sandals, a pink lip and a vintage inspired up-do would make this look perfect especially if topped off with some stunning Chopard diamonds.

2014 Cannes Film Festival: 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' Premiere Wish List

The Cannes Film Festival officially kicks off next Wednesday, and I am so excited! Next Friday is seeming like it is going to be quite the evening on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. Two major films will be screened. First is the out of competition gala premiere of 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' and the other is the in competition premiere of 'Captives' staring Rosario Dawson and Mireille Enos (that wish list will go live on this site next Tuesday.) What excites me most about this day is the fact that Cate Blanchett will give a me what I am sure will be my best dressed look at the festival. Being a Cannes Film Festival veteran I am excited to see what the actress will bring to the red carpet. This amazing Zac Posen Fall 2014 RTW navy blue body hugging gown accentuated with a dramatic cape. This gown combines my love of Cate and my love of Capes. I am super shocked that no one picked this gown up to wear for the 2014 'Charles James: Beyond Fashion' Met Ball earlier this week. I would just add a pair of navy satin pumps and some stunning Chopard diamonds to complete this amazing red carpet ensemble.
Earlier this week I fell in love with what Kirsten Wiig wore on the red carpet at the 2014 Met Ball. It was this amazing custom back Balenciaga ensemble that paired a structured ball skirt over tailored pants. While that was a perfect Met look I am hoping that Kristen turns up the glam for the 2014 Cannes Film Festival premiere of her film 'How to Train Your Dragon 2.' This champagne colored Marchesa Pre-Fall 2014 embroidered bodice and layered tulle mermaid gown would look stunning on Kristen to give her the perfect look for the light style that would be perfect for the French Riviera. Her long bob should be slicked into a sleek do, a pair of gold sandals, and a gold clutch win neutral makeup and simple jewels will make this look even more perfect.
I am hoping that for the Gala premieres that Sofia Coppola will opt out of her favored short ensembles and rock some couture gowns. Having attended a few Chanel Couture fashion shows in the past I think that picking this silver Chanel Fall 2013 Couture ankle length gown would be a perfect choice for Sofia to make for this red carpet. Of everyone that has been announced to attend the festival Sofia is one of the ones I worry will bring the glamour of the red carpet down. A silver Edie Parker clutch, a pair of silver sandals, a simple updo, and very simple jewels will give Sofia a stunning red carpet look, again outside of her all black comfort zone.
Elie Saab usually embraces women that are relatively unknown on the red carpet in Cannes, dressing them in his stunning couture designs. While jury member Jeon Do-Yeon isn't a Cannes newbie by any means, she has won the Best Actress Award at the 2007 festival, she is relatively unknown in the fashion world. I am hoping that since she is on the jury that designers will throw gowns at her. I am hoping that Jeon is able to get her hands on this ethereal Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture white gown. This gown is elegant and does white without feeling bridal to me. A matching white Edie Parker clutch, a pair of silver sandals, a diamond necklace, a glamorous updo, and a red lip will ensure that Jeon looks every bit the part of the Festival Jury Member that she is.

2014 Cannes Film Festival: Opening Ceremony & "Grace of Monaco" Premiere Wish List

Nicole Kidman will be back in Cannes this year to open the festival will her film 'Grace of Monaco' after serving on the Palme D'Or Jury during the 2013 festival. This Grace Kelly biopic has been much anticipated after not being ready for any of the 2013 film festivals or the 2014 awards season. Some people say that Nicole will start her journey to an Oscar with this premiere. Nicole used to be dressed by the late L'Wren Scott so I am eagerly awaiting what will come to the red carpet on May 15th. I am hoping that she pulls from the Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture collection because since it was presented last July I have been dying for a Nicole Kidman moment. This royal blue sleeveless silk gown is the regal moment that a Cannes premiere about a fashion icon princess is calling for. A wavy up-do, stunning diamond and sapphire cluster earrings, and a pair of blue satin pumps dyed to match would make this look 100% perfect for this red carpet.
Paz Vega is a staple on the red carpet in Cannes, but this year she will most likely grace the red carpet of the Opening Ceremony screening of 'Grace of Monaco' as she is one of the films stars. I have been in love with a few of the gowns from the Armani Prive Fall 2013 Couture collection that still have yet to be worn on the red carpet and I am still holding out hope that they will make it off the runway. This beaded cap sleeve mermaid gown has been one that I have been dying to see off the runway but it really needs a grand red carpet to support it and Cannes certainly does. Paz would look absolutely stunning in this design. An elegant vintage inspired updo, gold sandals, and some diamond cluster earrings will make up this absolutely stunning red carpet ensemble.
I am hoping that the 2014 Palme D'Or Jury brings more to the red carpet than their red carpet history presents. Sofia Coppola is one of the ladies on the jury and I have never been wowed by one of her looks so I am hoping that over the 12 day festival that I am able to fall in love with at least one of her looks. For the Opening Ceremony I picked this blueish green, white, and black Louis Vuitton Fall 2014 RTW dress. While the dress would be pretty as it is I would like for Sofia to have this gown lengthened into a full length gown. The sad thing is that new Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere has yet to produce a gown, even for the ladies he dressed for the Met Ball last night. A black Louis Vuitton clutch, a pair of black pumps, and a red lip would give me a jaw dropping look from Sofia on the Cannes red carpet.
The jury member that I am most likely going to fall in love with is Korean actress Jeon Do-Yeon. The star has received awards at Cannes before so and I am praying for some major moments from her over the course of this festival. For the Opening Ceremony I would love to see Jeon wear this ice blue Zuhair Murad Spring 2014 Couture embellished tulle ball gown with a high neck and open back. This is a very bold statement to make for this red carpet, but as they say 'go big, or go home.' Finish the look with a pretty updo, a silver crystal encrusted clutch, and a pair of silver sandals will give this gown the perfect simple touches to let it shine in Cannes.
And the final jury member that might bring a major red carpet moment is Carole Bouquet. The 56 year old French actress and model has a relationship with Chanel having attended events and couture shows hosted by the couture house. For the Opening Ceremony I have chosen this Chanel Spring 2013 Couture black embellished tiered skirt and under the jacket is a sleeveless blouse of the gown. I think that this is a gown that needs a red carpet moment and Carole would be perfect to give it its shining moment. A black Chanel satin clutch, a pair of black satin pumps, and of course a selection of stunning diamonds in her ears and maybe on her wrist will complete this perfect ensemble.
Last but not least I have a wish for Adele Exarchopoulos. Adele is not in the film or on the jury but in the following days of the Opening Ceremony Adele will be presented with the Chopard Trophee and the winners of the Trophee are usually in attendance at the Opening Ceremony, I am also praying that the patron of this years awards (Cate Blanchett) will also be in attendance. Adele has been either love or loathe for me on the red carpet and I am hoping for a major moment from her during Cannes. I think that this black textured Lanvin Fall 2014 RTW midi cocktail dress would make an amazing gown that would make for the perfect red carpet moment for someone who's night it is not yet at the Cannes Film Festival.
