2014 Cannes Film Festival: Chopard Trophee Gala & Kristen Stewart Wish List

Every year Chopard awards two rising young talents the Chopard Trophee, which has gone to talents like Audrey Tautou, Shailene Woodley, Jeremy Irvine, and Ezra Miller. This year the two recipients are Logan Lerman and Adele Exarchopoulos. Adele made her debut last year premiering 'Blue is the Warmest Color' at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival with another Chopard Trophee winner Lea Seydoux. Adele is much on her way to being a prominent actress. She, in joint with Lea, were the first actresses to take the Palme D'Or home; an honor historically just given to the films director. For this awards ceremony I am sure that designers will be throwing gowns at Adele and I am hoping that Maxime Simoens Fall 2014 RTW black column gown with silver embellished bust line peplum is what she ends up choosing. I think that this gown is absolutely amazing. A simple yet impact making statement. I would pull Adele's hair up into an elegant bun, add a red lip, and a pair of red pumps to just ensure that this is an award winning look.
Cate Blanchett will be in attendance during the festival to premiere her film 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' as a gala screening and also as the patron presenter of this years Chopard Trophee. Chopard always brings an established actor or actress to present the young talent with their awards and to impart words of wisdom upon them. After a few years of male presenters I am ecstatic that Cate will be the one presenting this years awards. As most regular readers will know, I have the biggest girl crush on Cate. She is my #1 dream client. If I were dressing Cate for this event I would have to pick this icy blue Armani Prive Spring 2014 Couture strapless gown. I think that the laid back unstructured nature of this gown is perfect for a slightly more laid back event during the festival and for the breezy French Riviera. A pair of silver sandals, a pair of stunning Chopard diamond earrings, and a diamond cuff bracelet would give this the perfect toppings to this amazing red carpet ensemble.
Aside from premiering 'Clouds of Sils Maria' Kristen Stewart will also be helping to auction off her film 'Camp X-Ray' during the festival. I have heard that Kirsten may make a second red carpet appearance to help do so. As the face of Chanel I figure there will be at least one look from the brand during the festival and after a horrible look at the 2014 Met Ball, I am hoping that she can redeem herself. This dove grey Chanel Spring 2014 Coutuer gown with beaded and feather embellishments would be a perfect look. Much like I said for her 'Sils Maria' premiere look; a tight bun to help minimize the effects of her ugly orange hair, a pair of silver sandals, and a silver clutch would give me the right accessories to give me a perfect red carpet ensemble.

2014 Cannes Film Festival: Opening Ceremony & "Grace of Monaco" Premiere Wish List

Nicole Kidman will be back in Cannes this year to open the festival will her film 'Grace of Monaco' after serving on the Palme D'Or Jury during the 2013 festival. This Grace Kelly biopic has been much anticipated after not being ready for any of the 2013 film festivals or the 2014 awards season. Some people say that Nicole will start her journey to an Oscar with this premiere. Nicole used to be dressed by the late L'Wren Scott so I am eagerly awaiting what will come to the red carpet on May 15th. I am hoping that she pulls from the Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture collection because since it was presented last July I have been dying for a Nicole Kidman moment. This royal blue sleeveless silk gown is the regal moment that a Cannes premiere about a fashion icon princess is calling for. A wavy up-do, stunning diamond and sapphire cluster earrings, and a pair of blue satin pumps dyed to match would make this look 100% perfect for this red carpet.
Paz Vega is a staple on the red carpet in Cannes, but this year she will most likely grace the red carpet of the Opening Ceremony screening of 'Grace of Monaco' as she is one of the films stars. I have been in love with a few of the gowns from the Armani Prive Fall 2013 Couture collection that still have yet to be worn on the red carpet and I am still holding out hope that they will make it off the runway. This beaded cap sleeve mermaid gown has been one that I have been dying to see off the runway but it really needs a grand red carpet to support it and Cannes certainly does. Paz would look absolutely stunning in this design. An elegant vintage inspired updo, gold sandals, and some diamond cluster earrings will make up this absolutely stunning red carpet ensemble.
I am hoping that the 2014 Palme D'Or Jury brings more to the red carpet than their red carpet history presents. Sofia Coppola is one of the ladies on the jury and I have never been wowed by one of her looks so I am hoping that over the 12 day festival that I am able to fall in love with at least one of her looks. For the Opening Ceremony I picked this blueish green, white, and black Louis Vuitton Fall 2014 RTW dress. While the dress would be pretty as it is I would like for Sofia to have this gown lengthened into a full length gown. The sad thing is that new Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere has yet to produce a gown, even for the ladies he dressed for the Met Ball last night. A black Louis Vuitton clutch, a pair of black pumps, and a red lip would give me a jaw dropping look from Sofia on the Cannes red carpet.
The jury member that I am most likely going to fall in love with is Korean actress Jeon Do-Yeon. The star has received awards at Cannes before so and I am praying for some major moments from her over the course of this festival. For the Opening Ceremony I would love to see Jeon wear this ice blue Zuhair Murad Spring 2014 Couture embellished tulle ball gown with a high neck and open back. This is a very bold statement to make for this red carpet, but as they say 'go big, or go home.' Finish the look with a pretty updo, a silver crystal encrusted clutch, and a pair of silver sandals will give this gown the perfect simple touches to let it shine in Cannes.
And the final jury member that might bring a major red carpet moment is Carole Bouquet. The 56 year old French actress and model has a relationship with Chanel having attended events and couture shows hosted by the couture house. For the Opening Ceremony I have chosen this Chanel Spring 2013 Couture black embellished tiered skirt and under the jacket is a sleeveless blouse of the gown. I think that this is a gown that needs a red carpet moment and Carole would be perfect to give it its shining moment. A black Chanel satin clutch, a pair of black satin pumps, and of course a selection of stunning diamonds in her ears and maybe on her wrist will complete this perfect ensemble.
Last but not least I have a wish for Adele Exarchopoulos. Adele is not in the film or on the jury but in the following days of the Opening Ceremony Adele will be presented with the Chopard Trophee and the winners of the Trophee are usually in attendance at the Opening Ceremony, I am also praying that the patron of this years awards (Cate Blanchett) will also be in attendance. Adele has been either love or loathe for me on the red carpet and I am hoping for a major moment from her during Cannes. I think that this black textured Lanvin Fall 2014 RTW midi cocktail dress would make an amazing gown that would make for the perfect red carpet moment for someone who's night it is not yet at the Cannes Film Festival.

2014 Critics Choice Movie Awards Wish List Part 1

Adele Exarchopoulos is a new face on the red carpet after debuting her film 'Blue is the Warmest Color' at the Cannes Film Festival wearing Balmain and Gucci. The film as garnered the 20 year old actress a nomination for Best Young Actor/Actress at the 2014 Critics Choice Movie Awards on January 16th 2014. Having worn some very simple and some very complicated looks I am torn on what to put her in but I ultimately decided to put the French starlet in this Valentino Spring 2014 RTW folk style gown. I think that the star just oozes sex though her pours so that even though that she would be completely covered up in this gown. Finish the look with a pair of nude sandals and a gold clutch to add the right finishing touches.
American Hustle star is Amy Adams has garnered a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy for her work in the film at the 2014 Critics Choice Movie Awards. Earlier this year Amy Adams wore a top and skirt by Vionnet to this event when she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her work in 'The Master.' I have kinda kept the same style for her to wear with this 30s inspired Jenny Packham Spring 2014 RTW gown. I am in love with this gown and I am praying that I will see it take to a red carpet during the 2014 Awards Season and Amy would make the perfect model for this look on the red carpet. Finish the look with a Prada box clutch that matches the salmon pink band in the dress, a pair of bronze Christian Louboutin d'orsay knot peep toe platform pumps as well as some stunning statement jewels in her ears, around her wrist, and on her finger from Bulgari.
My queen of the red carpet Cate Blanchett has been nominated for Best Actress for her work in the Woody Allen flick 'Blue Jasmine' at the 2014 Critics Choice Movie Awards. I am predicting that during the course of awards season that we will see Cate wear one Antonio Berardi ensemble and I think that this pink and red color blocked gown from the Spring 2014 RTW collection will look absolutely amazing on the red carpet. This is amazing dress needs someone with the presence of Cate to pull it off and then who better than the queen. Finish the look very simply with a red Roger Vivier clutch, a pair of red Roger Vivier sandals, and Van Cleef & Arpels diamond drop earrings to ensure that all eyes will be one the queen.
Best Actress for 'Saving Mr. Banks' nominee Emma Thompson has not exactly thrilled me on the red carpet whilst out promoting the film, but I am hoping now that she has garnered some nominations that she will be able to make me fall love some of her looks (if not all). For the 2014 Critics Choice Movie Awards I think that this Naeem Khan Pre-Fall 2014 gown with gold beaded draped fringe would be the perfect gown for the 54 year old British actress. Add a simple Jimmy Choo 'Tube' clutch in gold, a pair of black Salvatore Ferragamo satin peep toe pumps, a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection fire opal earrings, and a turtle shaped Chopard ring that consists of 16 carats of yellow, brown, and cognac diamonds to finish off a chic sophisticated look for the nominee.
It would be a delight to see Best Actress in an Action Movie for 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' nominee Evangeline Lilly take to the red carpet at the 2014 Critics Choice Movie Awards. Whilst on the promo tour for this film Evangeline wore a stunning Catherine Dean stone white gown (pictured left) and I still think her best ever red carpet look came from the 'You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger' premiere at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival with a blue and green fringe Emilio Pucci cocktail dress. For this event I think that this slinky body hugging Emilio Pucci Spring 2014 RTW white long sleeve gown that features slashes all over the sleeves and down the sides would make Mrs Lilly looks like a sexy femme fatale queen. An ivory and silver Edie Parker 'Jean' stripe box clutch, a pair of Jimmy Choo 'Lance' sandals, A pair of dazzling Chopard drop earrings featuring 23 carats of emeralds and 5 carats of diamond, and a 20 carat emerald Chopard cocktail ring set in a setting of platinum and diamonds will ensure that this is one of the best looks of the night.
Relative red carpet newcomer Greta Gerwig first stepped out for the world to see on the arm of designer Prabal Gurung wearing one of his creations at the 2012 Met Ball and she looked fantastic' so naturally I turned to the designer to find her look for the 2014 Critics Choice Movie Awards where she is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy for her work in the film 'Francis Ha.' Having a knack for wearing some of the more avant garde looks I chose this bright blue look from the Prabal Gurung Spring 2014 RTW collection which features a portrait neckline. This look takes a very brave woman to make it work and I think that Greta can be one of those women. A pair of simple Jimmy Choo silver 'Raven' sandals, a mirrored Jimmy Choo 'Cosma' Clutch, as well as a pair of Harry Winston sapphire and diamond earrings from 1975, and a newer Harry Winston diamond and sapphire bracelet would complete this absolutely perfect look for Greta.
