2015 Costume Designers Guild Awards Wish List

The 17th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 17, 2015. I am excited for the fact that one of my favorite women, Emmy Rossum, is going to be the hostess of the evening. Emmy always gives me couture realness when she steps out wearing all of the best designers. For the CDG Awards I would love to see Emmy wear this Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2015 strapless ball gown with its bold floral print. Many would send this gown back afraid of the statement making print, but Emmy is never one to stray away from a challenge and I would love to see her take this gown on. Paring this gown with some stunning Chopard drop earrings, a light pink lip, and a pair of red sandals would ensure that Emmy gives Oscar chic at the CDG Awards

Emma Stone has been making the red carpet rounds promoting "Birdman" on its journey to the Academy Awards. With the film being nominated for its costume design at the CDG Awards I am praying that Emma shows up. I would love to see her wear this emerald green Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2015 t-shirt style dress with beaded stripes in differing directions on the top and skirt. I absolutely adore a red head in green and we haven't seen Emma wear green in a while. Finish the look with a green Edie Parker clutch, a pair of gold pumps, and a red lip would make everyone green with envy for Emma's red carpet look.

Felicity Jones is still on the road to being one of my red carpet queens. I love almost every single look the she puts out on the red carpet. For the Costume Designers Guild Awards, I would love to see Felicity wear this Marchesa Pre-Fall 2015 cocktail dress rendered in black corded lace and features a fitted bodice with a full pleated skirt and scalloped edges. I think that this is a sweet dress, which is perfect for the look that Felicity always gives on the red carpet. I would pair this look with a pair of coral Elie Saab sandals, sleek hair, and a coral lip to make sure that Felicity is all about bringing impact to the red carpet at the Costume Designers Guild Awards.

Reese Witherspoon has been on a roller coaster of style this red carpet season. I have either loved or hated her red carpet looks, and most have been very monochromatic. I am praying for Reese to wear some color on the red carpet, and what better event that the Costume Designers Guild Awards to do that? I picked this amazing Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture cocktail dress with a green top and a multicolored striped full skirt for Reese to wear. I think that the silhouette is something that Reese would be naturally drawn to, it is very ladylike. Reese loves herself a ladylike silhouette and this gown gives that AND modernity with the colors and striped skirt. The boldness of the pattern and colors are what I fear would push Reese away from this dress. I would finish this look off simply with a pair of gold pumps and tousled waves to give Reese a perfect red carpet look.

"The Grand Budapest Hotel" is nominated for Best Period Costumes in a Movie and I am hoping for a Swinton sighting at the CDG Awards. Tilda Swinton is a red carpet queen. I love how she can work mannish or feminine silhouettes on the red carpet and always look stunning. One of Tilda's favorite designers, and closest friends, is Hadier Ackermann and it has been a hot minute since we have seen her in one of his designs. I picked this mauve silk suit, with a boxy blazer and tapered pants, and burgundy chiffon top covered in rosettes from the Hadier Ackermann Spring 2015 RTW collection. This look is an amazing balance of menswear inspiration and feminine details to create the perfect red carpet look for Tilda. Her short locks styled in her signature coif and nude pumps would ensure that Tilda slays the red carpet.

2013 Cannes Film Festival: 'Only Lovers Left Alive' Premiere Wish List

Androgynous beauty Tilda Swinton will be in Cannes for the 3rd year in a row to promote a film on the 25th. This year Mrs Swinton will be premiering a vampire flick 'Only Lovers Left Alive.' I look forward to seeing what the actress will bring to the red carpet because she has such a unique sense of style. For this premiere I have decided to merge to looks for the actress from the Hadier Ackerman Spring 2013 RTW collection. Tilda and Hadier have a long standing relationship and for about two years now she has exclusively worn his designs on the red carpet so it will shock me if she wears another brand. I would take the black silk tuxedo jacket (pictured center) with a printed lapel and pair it with this black and white polka dotted gown paired with black pants for this premiere. While the Cannes Film Festival is all about glamour Tilda is much more of an edgy person and that is what I am hoping that she will bring to the red carpet.

Also staring in 'Only Lovers Left Alive' is another Cannes veteran Mia Wasikowska. Two years in a row Mia has worn deep red/burgundy gowns for this festival and I am not sure if she will stick to it but my guess is that she will. For this premiere I would love to see the 23 year old actress wear this Armani Prive Spring 2013 Couture embellished gown. This may be a stretch because Mia has never worn a strapless gown on the red carpet but I think that she would look absolutely stunning wearing this smoke and red chevron embellished gown. Just add a pair of black peep toe pumps and Mia is ready to take to the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals for her big premiere.

Nicole Kidman has said that she had fallen out of love with fashion until she took a role last year playing iconic actress turned princess Grace Kelly. Since this she has fallen in love with fashion again and has been taking a lot more risks like her McQueen at the Golden Globes or her Oscar de la Renta at an Omega watch gala. This is the gown that is the most out of the box for Mrs Kidman. I would love to see Nicole wear this with a modified to be completely closed necked or just slightly more modest that the runway version for her 45 years of age. A black embellished clutch, black Jimmy Choo sandals, as well as stunning cluster earrings would be the perfect completions to this edgy modern red carpet look for Nicole for the Cannes Film Festival.

2013 Cannes Film Festival: Photocall Wish List 3

During this years Cannes Film Festival Jennifer Lawrence will most likely be on hand for an unofficial photocall for her film 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' which will have sections screened to a select audience during the festival. For the photocall I would love to see the Christian Dior spokesmodel wear this amazing white, black, and houndstooth Christian Dior Fall 2013 RTW dress. Jennifer is not a girly girl, never was and will most likely never be so this sportier design is perfect for her. Complete the look with a pair of red Christian Louboutin pumps and slicked back hair and Jennifer will wow during the festival.

Lea Seydoux, unlike Jennifer Lawrence, is no stranger to the Cannes Film Festival. This year the actress will be presenting her film 'Blue is the Warmest Color' during this years festival. For photocalls in the past Lea has worn mostly Prada but I am wishing for her to wear this amazing white and silver Chanel Spring 2013 Couture tweed dress. This is an iconic style of dress and Lea would look absolutely fantastic wearing this stunning creation by Karl Lagerfeld. Complete this look with a pair of Christian Louboutin silver pumps and her hair up and Lea is set to stand out against the French Rivera as her backdrop.

Added at the last minute Mia Wasikowska will be in attendance at the Cannes Film Festival this year for the third year in a row. While I am most looking forward to the gown that she chooses for the premiere of her film 'Only Lovers Left Alive' I am also looking forward to seeing what she pulls out for the photocall. I would pick this white pleated chiffon Jason Wu Fall 2013 RTW dress with a black belt. To finish off this look just pair it with a pair of Christian Louboutin black peep toe pumps and she will bring the flirty to the terrace for the photocall.

I was almost afraid that this was going to be a year without Tilda at the Cannes Film Festival. Last year her film 'Moonrise Kingdom' opened the festival and she will be back in attendance this year with her vampire film 'Only Lovers Left Alive.' Tilda has exclusively worn Hadier Ackerman for every red carpet appearance for almost two years now so it is a safe bet to make that she will wear the designs of her long time friend during this years film festival. For the photocall I would love to see Tilda wear this black and white patterned blazer paired with a black chiffon blouse and black pants. I am sure that no matter what she wears I will be wowed.

2012 Critics Choice Awards Wish List Part 2

Meryl Streep is such a film icon that she feels that she doesn't have to put forth a whole lot of effort on the red carpet (a la Julia Roberts), well dear this is not the case. The reason to look good is that it can get you in even more magazines than you already are in, with subtitles such as "Best Actress Nominee (or winner if she were to win) Meryl Streep wearing..." but what does a non professional know? A lot! For this show I have chosen to put Meryl in this champagne colored Badgley Mischka Spring 2012 RTW dress. This dress is elegant and still age appropriate whilst still being on the trends. I think that this dress paired with gold strappy sandals, a gold jeweled clutch, and a great pair of earrings would make this look just take off and land her on the best dressed lists worldwide.

I wish Michelle Williams would hire me to be her stylist because I think that with my help that she would go from sad looking on the red carpet, to looking like a floating angel. For the 2012 Critics Choice Awards, where she is nominated for her portrayal of iconic film star and legend Marylin Monroe in this film 'My Week With Marylin', I would like the stunning actress to wear this Angel Sanchez Spring 2012 RTW gown. I think that the angelic gown would look stunning on the actress, who should pair it with silver sandals and a silver clutch.

Octavia Spencer is the dark horse of the 2012 Awards Season and I think that she is going to bring it. The actress who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress, for her role as Minny Jackson in 'The Help', has been making a splash dressing exactly how she should for her body type. I think that this Azzaro Spring 2012 RTW gown would look stunning on her as the color would look amazing as well. Now, I would modify this gown so that the keyhole would need to be raised for more support for Octavia's lady twins. A silver jeweled clutch and silver peep toe pumps would complete this look and make Octavia shine like the star she is becoming.

Rachel McAdams is a red carpet diva and she loves to bring it on the red carpet which I love! This Alexis Mabile Fall 2011 Couture cocktail dress is dark but fun all at the same time. I think that Rachel would rock it with a pair of black strappy sandals, diamond earrings, a few diamond cocktail rings, and her blonde locks styled into 1940's waves,

Sandra Bullock may attend the 2012 Critics Choice Awards because her film 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' is nominated for the Best Picture award. If she does, I would love her to wear this orange Vera Wang Pre-Fall 2012 gown. I love when Sandy pulls out the bright colors as she does have the coloring to wear them. The only thing I would change about this look is that I would have a matching waistband added to define Sandy's amazing waist. Gold strappy sandals, gold clutch, and a chic up-do would look amazing with this Vera Wang gown.

This is my second Badgley Mischka Spring 2012 RTW collection wish for this event and it is for Shailene Woodley. She is nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Best Young Actress for her role in the Best Picture nominated film, 'The Descendants'. I have yet to see Shailene don a gown for a red carpet appearance and I don't think that I will until she has to for the Golden Globes, SAG's, or the Oscars. So this orange strapless dress would look stunning on her, and could be best dressed worthy if she wears it with gold strappy sandals and carry's a gold crystal clutch.

And last, but not least, for this awards show I am wishing for androgynous beauty Tilda Swinton, who is nominated for Best Actress for her work in the film 'We Need To Talk About Kevin', to wear Hadier Ackerman Spring 2012 RTW for the event. Tilda has a long time relationship with the designer who has dressed her for numerous occasions. This black chiffon skirt paired with the red and white plaid style print blazer I think is something that only a few women in the world could pull off, and Tilda is one of them. I hope to see her in it. Accessorized with a pair of red strappy sandals and minimal jewelery, I think that Tilda would waltz her way on to not just my best dressed list but the lists of fashion critics the world overs.
