#TIFF2015: "Black Mass," "Forsaken," "Families," & "Brooklyn" Premieres Wish List

Dakota Johnson is going to have a busy few weeks come the end of August and the beginning of September. She has two films premiering at the Venice Film Festival then she will jet to Toronto where her film "Black Mass" is going to be presented at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. "Black Mass" is premiering at the festival as a special presentation which means that it most likely wont be as formal a premiere as a Gala. With that in mind it is still a major premiere at a major film festival so couture is expected. I picked this black Chanel Fall 2015 Couture flapper-esque cocktail dress for Dakota to wear on the red carpet because I think that this is a look that she has yet to try out on the red carpet and I do think that she would look amazing in this piece. Dakota attended the New York special presentation on the Chanel Pre-Fall 2015 collection and then wore a Chanel Couture mini dress to this years Met Gala so there is already a standing relationship between the two. I would finish this look off rather simply with a red lip, a wavy bob, simple black Christian Louboutin sandals, and a pair of diamond cluster earrings to keep in that vintage look that the dress holds.
Demi Moore stars alongside Kiefer Sutherland and Donald Sutherland in the film "Forsaken," which has a gala premiere slot at this years Toronto International Film Festival. It has been a hot minute since we have seen Demi on the red carpet and I gotta say that I am looking forward to what she might bring to the red carpet. I picked this black Prabal Gurung Resort 2016 lurex cable jacquard sleeveless gown which features a cable pattern flecked with metallic in an a-line silhouette with a square neckline and tulip high-low hem for Demi to wear for this premiere. It is a simple yet elegant statement for Demi to make on her red carpet return in a designer whom she helped launch the career of. I think that this is just dramatic enough for TIFF without being too over the top. I pray to the hair gods that Demi wears her hair up and back to showcase the neckline of this gown and I will forgive what I am sure will be a pair of boring black pumps worn with this dress.
Former fashion model turned actress Gemma Chan has been working the red carpet scene quite well recently, making splashes representing British designers mostly on her red carpet outings. Gemma will be in Toronto promoting her film "Families" and I can not wait to see what she will wear as it is expecting to be a chic colorful statement. I picked this Mary Katrantzou Resort 2016 'Amsonia" gown. This silk crepe gown features a square neck, front crossing straps and multicolor accordion pleat details coming from the front darts creating a relaxed silhouette perfect for a special presentation premiere. I would further the pops of color with a pink lip, pink sandals, and add a gold clutch for a metallic pop to ensure that no one will dull Gemma's shine.
Rounding out today's first set of wishes for the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival is Saoirse Ronan who will be presenting her film "Brooklyn" in a special presentation slot at the festival. The 21 year old Irish actress definitely marches to the beat of her own drum on the red carpet picking looks that most would fear to wear on the red carpet and I am hoping that she keeps up her avant garde look at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. With that in mind I picked this peacock like Chanel Spring 2014 Couture feathered cocktail dress. I honestly think that this dress screams for Saoirse to wear it on the red carpet and TIFF is the perfect platform to be able to do so. With such a bold dress a simple pair of black sandals, a sleek bun, and fresh faced makeup will ensure that Saoirse knocks this look out on the red carpet.

2015 Venice Film Festival: Closing Ceremony Red Carpet Wish List

I will be extremely sad to see the 2015 Venice Film Festival come to an end. This years festival is shaping up to be one of the most star studded and glamorous yet. A major helping hand in that is the fashion star studded juries. Diane Kruger has shown us before, being on the juries of the Berlin and Cannes Film Festivals, that she knows a thing or two about dressing for a film festival red carpet and I am very much looking forward to seeing what she will rock during Venice. For the closing ceremony I picked this avant garde Maison Margiela Fall 2015 Couture sand colored tiered column gown. This gown needs someone with a bold presence to be able to pull it off and Diane has that presence. This look reminds me of the days of Christian Lacroix Haute Couture, evoking a sense of deconstructed courtesan. A chic 40s style updo, a pair if yellow gold and diamond tassel earrings, a gold box clutch, and a pair of gold sandals are all would be needed to ensure that this is a winning look to close out Diane's run at the 2015 Venice Film Festival.
Elizabeth Banks is also one to contend with on the red carpet. I am sure that over the course of this year Venice Film Festival we will see stunning looks from Elie Saab, Armani Prive, & Atelier Versace on Elizabeth. I was looking for something dramatic to round out my wish list for Elizabeth and the moment I saw this dark green Zuhair Murad Fall 2015 Couture embellished cape gown I knew I had found what I was looking for. On the runway the cape was presented as a cold shoulder sleeve, for Elizabeth on the Venice Film Festival red carpet I would except her arms to be over the cape instead. I don't think that the look would loose any of it's drama by doing so, in fact I believe that by doing so it would make the look more elegant giving Elizabeth a dramatic yet elegant offering. Accessorized with a dark green Rauwolf clutch, a pair of dark green sandals, and pair of diamond cluster earrings and finished with a red lip and chic updo Elizabeth would end Venice on a highly glamorous level.
Paz Vega is on a side jury to the main completion unlike Diane and Elizabeth but I am see that she will have just as glamorous an offering as either of the previously mentioned. For the 2015 Venice Film Festival closing ceremony I picked this stunning Armani Privé Fall 2015 Couture ombré silk fringe gown with a sexy low neckline. Many would liken this dress to a high fashion Muppet and I would agree if it was not worn by someone who knows how to work a red carpet ensemble with conviction and Paz definitely has that conviction. The models were even styled on the runway to have wigs that are similar to Paz's current hairstyle. Finish the look with simple black accessories and a light pink lip and this look is sure to stand out on the red carpet.

Madonna Annouces Costume Designers for "Rebel Heart" Tour

Today, ahead of her "Rebel Heart" tour which kicks off in early September, Madonna announced the select group of fashion elites and up-and-comers that will be creating the costumes for the tour. There were the expected designers like Jean Paul Gaultier (who holds the title of Madonna's most famous costume with her cone bra), Moschino (the pop queen wore a custom design by Jeremy Scott for the house to the 2015 Met Ball) and Alexander Wang (who appeared in her "Bitch I'm Madonna" video.) Also not too shocking are Fausto Puglisi (who has designed for Madonna and her backup dancers before), as well as Prada and Miu Miu which again are not shocking. Swarovski is creating looks for Madonna as well is Lebanese couturier Nicolas Jebran (Jebran designed the matador look Madonna wore during her now infamous performance at the 2015 BRIT Awards where her Armani Prive cape caught on her neck as it was pulled and she suffered quite a fall and still continued her performance. The big shock comes from the announcement that Alessandro Michele for Gucci will also be creating costumes. From what we have seen from Michele's Gucci it is a very boho 1970s vibe which is not what we are accustomed to seeing Madonna wearing. Will Michele break away from his seemingly standard look or will he give us the OTT glamorous edgy looks that we are so used to seeing on Madge? I guess only time will tell.
Back at the beginning of the year when Madonna first released her "Rebel Heart" album we saw her performing and promoting the album in many matador styles. Will be see a lot of Spanish flair during her upcoming world tour? Or will Madonna hit up with something completely different? When it comes to Madge only time will tell. The sketches of the looks that Madonna will be wearing from these listed designers will be released at a later date and you know that I will be all over covering it for all of you fabulous readers!

2015 Venice Film Festival: "The Wait" Premiere Wish List

Juliette Binoche has been on a roll this year with her red carpet looks. I have to say that I am actually really excited to see what the actress will bring to the 2015 Venice Film Festival as she promotes her latest film "The Wait." For the films photocall I would pick this head to toe Narciso Rodriguez Resort 2016 khaki shirt style dress and orange pointed toe pumps. This is a chic look perfect for a photocall. Had this been available during Cannes I am sure that someone would have been all over this for the outdoor photocall but alas all the photocalls in Venice are inside. For the premiere I would love to see Juliette go for dramatic elegance and that is exactly what this blue ombre beaded Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture gown that features an off the shoulder neckline and long sleeves is. This is a film festival perfect look that I am honestly shocked to know that Jane Fonda didn't snatch up for Cannes. Finish this look with diamond and sapphire cluster earrings, a pair of blue Ferragamo peep toe satin pumps, and a chic low bun.
I have been wanting to see Diane Kruger wear this Giambattista Valli Fall 2014 Couture white strapless chiffon gown with purple floral detail since it was presented last July but I am afraid that she is steering clear of this gown because of the similarities it shares with the Nina Ricci gown that she wore to the Cannes Film Festival premiere of "Killing Them Softly." That was such a moment for Diane that I can only imagine that this gown would be compared to that look. This would be an elegant yet still dramatic offering from Diane on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. Finished with a chic updo, a pair of silver sandals, and diamond cluster earrings and Diane will ensure that she has yet another breathtaking red carpet moment.
Elizabeth Banks hasn't worn an Armani Prive gown since the dramatic red gown that she wore to the 2009 Cannes Film Festival premiere of "Up" and I think that the 2015 Venice Film Festival will see that streak end. Armani is one brand that we see a lot of on the Venice red carpet and I could see Elizabeth rocking many of the looks that the designer has presented recently. I picked this strapless ballgown from the Armani Prive Fall 2015 Couture collection because I can picture Elizabeth making this avant garde look seem effortless. I love the mix of colors so that I couldn't even identify what I would call the base color of this gown, it's almost iridescent. Hair pulled back, a light pink lip, simple earrings, a black Edie Parker clutch, and a pair of black sandals would be the simply styling that is needed to ensure that this gown is in the spotlight on the red carpet.

2015 Venice Film Festival: "The Danish Girl" Premiere Wish List

Eddie Redmayne is gunning to be the next back to back Best Actor winner at the Academy Awards. This has not been done since 1994 when Tom Hanks won for "Forrest Gump" just a year after winning for playing Andrew Beckett in "Philadelphia." Eddie's portrayal of artist Einar Wegener/Lili Elbe, one of the first transgendered women in the world, in 'The Danish Girl" is garnering the buzz needed to be able to take home the prize yet again. I was slightly disappointed by Eddie this past awards season as he let his fun quirky sense of style take a back seat to the red carpet standard black and navy blue tuxedo's. I am hoping that Eddie will bring back the fun styles for his promo tour of "The Danish Girl" which starts during the 2015 Venice Film Festival. For the films photocall I picked a rusty brown Burberry Prorsum Spring 2016 single breasted suit that I would keep paired with the runways cream lace button down shirt and turquoise tie. I would figure that Eddie would choose a pair of sold light brown oxfords but I have to say that I would love to see him wear the runways two toned black and green oxfords instead. To step out for the big red carpet premiere is where I am really hoping that Eddie sticks to his sartorial guns and rocks this black and white Tom Ford Spring 2016 Menswear dotted tuxedo blazer paired with black tuxedo pants, a crisp white shirt. This is the type of look that I have missed from Eddie. I loved him for pushing the boundaries of menswear on the red carpet and this Tom Ford tuxedo definitely does just that.
Alicia Vikander is also getting a bit of Oscar buzz for her performance as Gerda Wegener, the wife of Eddie's character, and I am hoping that she will really turn it out for the "The Danish Girl" premiere. As a face of Louis Vuitton I am holding out hope that Alicia will be allowed to wear other brands besides LV as I get tired of seeing the same styles all the time. I am picking this simple black Louis Vuitton Fall 2015 RTW shift mini dress with a squiggly visual detail on the long sheer sleeves for Alicia to wear during the films photocall. Paired with a pair of blue pumps to add a bold pop of color to the look and a red lip this would be a perfect photocall look. For the red carpet premiere I picked this stunning royal blue Alberta Ferretti Fall 2015 Demi Couture chiffon gown. We see a lot of Alberta Ferretti during Venice and I think that this goddess like silhouette would be perfect for Alicia. The way that this gown drapes makes for an elegant red carpet moment. Finish off the look with a pair of silver sandals, a Louis Vuitton black and white Petite Malle graphic print clutch, ruby and diamond earrings, a soft ethereal updo, and a red lip to ensure that Alicia looks every part the Hollywood heavy hitter that she is becoming.
This year Amber Heard has gone from bad to pretty good and I am looking forward to seeing if she continues to bring the sexy to the red carpet during the 2015 Venice Film Festival. For the "The Danish Girl" photocall I would love to see Amber wear this simplistically sexy Altuzarra Resort 2016 red suit with a slight flared pant leg, impeccably tailored blazer, and black and white thin striped button down blouse. This is not an in your face sexy look but I think that a woman in an impeccably well fitted suit who oozes sex appeal looks so sensual. The borrowed from the boys look paired with a pair of gold Christian Louboutin pump, soft waves, and neutral makeup is a perfect look for Amber to wear for the photocall. The look that I picked for Amber to wear for the film's big red carpet premiere is much more classically sexy. This peacock blue velvet Ralph & Russo Fall 2015 Couture long sleeve gown that features a plunging neckline and split to there is just so elegantly sexy that Amber would look drop dead gorgeous. A chic updo, a red lip, a pair of black sandals, and a statement diamond necklace will ensure that Amber exudes old Hollywood glamour on the Venice Film Festival red carpet.
I have been trying to figure out who I wanted to wear this stunning cream Elie Saab Spring 2015 Couture featured and beaded gown with its remarkably sexy thigh high split. When Diane Kruger was announced as a juror for the 2015 Venice Film Festival I knew right then and there that she was the one. No one wears a gown quite like Diane and I have to say that I could see Diane making this sexy look very chic and sophisticated while still working that sexy central split to ensure that she isn't overwhelmed by all that is going on in this gown. Finished with a chic up do, a light pink lip and gold sandals and Diane would kill this look on the red carpet.
The curators of the Venice Film Festival have really given us fashion lovers a treat by not just giving us Diane Kruger on the Jury but also Elizabeth Banks. Each is a red carpet heavyweight but in their own ways. Elizabeth knows how to work the more demure looks really well while Diane works the avant garde with ease. For the "The Danish Girl" premiere I would love to see Elizabeth wear this elegant Marches Resort 2016 antique gold gown with 3-D floral embroidery. This gown needs someone who will wear it will confidence and Elizabeth defiantly has the presence to rock this gown on the red carpet. A gold box clutch, a pair of gold sandals, a red lip, and a simple updo will ensure that Elizabeth wears this gown and the gown does not overwhelm her.

2015 Venice Film Festival: "Black Mass" Premiere Wish List

"Black Mass" is the second of two films, the first being "A Bigger Splash", that Dakota Johnson will be premireing during the 2015 Venice Film Festival and I gotta say that I am nervous because I have not been Dakota's biggest fan. For the photocall I picked this purple lace Gucci Resort 2016 shirt dress. Dakota was front row when Alessandro Michele presented his first Resort collection for Gucci back in May in New York City and I am hoping that Dakota picks up a look for two from the collection, as shown by the gown I picked for her to wear for the "A Bigger Splash" premiere. I think that Dakota should keep the look with a yellow shoe but opt for a lighter sandal for this photocall. For the premiere I picked this shocking pink Schiaparelli Spring 2015 Couture bias cut gown with a sensual abstract human anatomy print. I think that this would be an elegant offering from Dakota but I am expecting her to wear a custom Christian Dior or Saint Laurent design for this premiere. A black clutch, a pair of black sandals, simple diamond drop earrings, and a light pink lippie would finish this look off in such an elegant way even though I expect we will see Dakota wear either black or white for her premiere.
I have to say that I am probably the most excited to see what the members of the feature film jury wear on the red carpet because Diane Kruger and Elizabeth Banks are two of my favorite to see on the red carpet and I can not wait to see what they bring to Venice. For the "Black Mass" premiere I have picked this Alberta Ferretti Fall 2015 Demi-Couture printed chiffon ballgown. The gowns print is actually taken straight from the walls of Alberta Ferretti's new Parisian offices and I have to say that there aren't many that I could see pulling this look off and Diane is one of them. Only thing that I think could put Diane off from wearing this look is the fact that Elizabeth Banks wore a similar style by Elie Saab Couture for the "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" premiere in London last year and it became one of the most buzzed about looks of the year. If Diane were to still go for this look I would pair it with a gold clutch and gold sandals and a chic updo to ensure that the look is all about the stunning gown and not the accessories.
Elizabeth Banks will look stunning I am sure at every premiere that she attends during the course of the 2015 Venice Film Festival. For the "Black Mass" premiere I chose to put Elizabeth in this stunning Alexander McQueen Resort 2016 figure hugging gown completely embellished with different flowers. I think that this is an edgy choice and if anyone can make an edgy choice look extremely glamorous it is Elizabeth, I mean she does pull off all of Effie Trinkets costumes with great aplomb in "The Hunger Games." This is a look that needs to be styled very simply. I would pair this look with a pair of black peep toe pump and a small black clutch, finishing the look with old Hollywood waves and a red lip to add a touch of glamour to the look.

2015 Venice Film Festival: "The Childhood of a Leader" Premiere Wish List

Before I start today's post I just want to apologize to all of my readers because I have been neglecting my blog. It has been a crazy month of traveling and moving and I am still not done. I am going to try and get ahead of the game a little bit as I approach my move back to college for my last semester. I am going to keep working on bringing you all the best content that I can in a timely manner! Thanks to everyone for bearing with me and sticking with me through and through!
Since sadly I have missed several of my Venice Film Festival postings I am going to make the best of what is left before moving on to the Toronto International Film Festival and the Emmy Awards. I was uber excited to see that "The Childhood of a Leader" was going to premiere in the Orizzonti section of the festival because the film stars the stunning French actress Berenice Bejo. Berenice first waltzed onto the red carpet scene in 2012 when she was nominated for an Academy Award for her work in the Academy Award winning "The Artist" and captured the hearts of designers Elie Saab and Ralph Lauren who dressed her throughout awards season and then she went on to be the Mistress of Ceremonies at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival where she broke out in designers like Prada, Giambattista Valli, Louis Vuitton, and Christian Dior. Since then we have not really seen Berenice on the red carpets except for here and there and I am really excited to see what Berenice pulls out for the Venice Film Festival. For the films photocall I would love to see Berenice wear this light pink Vionnet Resort 2016 suit that features blood orange lapels. I think that this chic sophisticated offering is perfect for a photocall and paired with a white button down menswear inspired blouse and a pair of pink pumps this look would definitely hold its own against some of the red carpet looks. For the premiere I would love to see Berenice wear this Giambattista Valli Spring 2015 Couture ensemble that features a jacquard embellished cropped jacket, a jacquard ball skirt and silk satin blouse. This gown brings back the old school glamour of the 1950's and 1960's which is a perfect look for a film festival red carpet. Finished with a chic updo, a pair of gold sandals, a pink lip, and diamond cluster earrings and Berenice would have a winning red carpet look on her hands.
Spanish actress Paz Vega is on the jury for the Orizzonti prize and I have to say that I am extremely excited to see what she is going to bring to the red carpet. Known for her love of pretty and dramatic gowns I am sure that we will see nothing but the best form Paz over the course of the festival. One of her favorite go to designers is Elie Saab, and who can blame her no one does pretty drama better (expect for maybe Ralph and Russo another of Paz's favorites.) For the "The Childhood of a Leader" premiere I would love to see Paz wear this Elie Saab Fall 2015 Couture dove grey and bronze completely embellished spaghetti strap ball gown on the red carpet. This gown is more pretty than dramatic but I think that Paz would be able to work it making it a stand out look during the Venice Film Festival. Paired with a pair of grey sandals and some simple diamond cluster earrings and a red lip this gown would shine all the way down the Venice red carpet.
