2016 Golden Globe Awards: Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy Nominees Wish List

Amy Schumer is one that I usually bypass on the red carpet. She has been stuck in what I call the "Lena Dunham Syndrome" where she has to figure out the types of looks and poses that flatter her figure, and she just hasn't done that yet. For the 2016 Golden Globe Awards next Sunday I would love to see Amy, who's nominated thanks to her film Trainwreck, wearing this red Romona Kevesa Spring 2016 RTW corset style mermaid gown. I think that this fitted, sexy gown would look amazing on Amy's curves. That is the problem with Amy and high fashion. High fashion brands don't often take curves into account and Amy is got that Marilyn Monroe type of a figure, bombshell. The other thing that usually doesn't add up with Amy's red carpet looks is her hair. The rats nest that she had on the top of her head whilst wearing custom Zac Posen at the Emmy Awards prevented her from making best dressed lists, so I am hoping that at the Globes that Amy will give something perfect for this look. I would be happy if Amy copied that lookbooks beauty styling with a tight high sleek ponytail and coal rimmed eyes. I would just add red pumps, a red Edie Parker clutch, borrowed diamond drop earrings,& a red lip to ensure that Amy has her first major red carpet moment.
Will Jennifer Lawrence wear Christian Dior on the Golden Globe Awards red carpet? That is the question that is on everyone's mind. My guess is that the actress, who's performance in Joy earned her a nomination, will be in the French couture brand out of contractual obligation. With the exit of Raf Simons I don't know if we will see JLaw in one of his runway creations or something that is custom made for her by the in house design team. Since I can't necessarily predict a custom gown, and all the custom gowns she has worn recently have been lackluster, I looked back to the Christian Dior Fall 2015 Couture collection and this chic simple white sleeveless gown which features a barely shear skirt and a bodice that is subtly embroidered. This is a chic glam look that I have been missing from JLaw and I am really hoping that she gets back to her best for Awards Season, though I am not holding my breath. Her new stylist's suck and I wish she would jump ship to someone like Elizabeth Stewart (who dresses Cate Blanchett), Kate Young (Sienna Miller/Dakota Johnson), or Michaela Erlanger (Lupita Nyong'o). This look finished with a pair of silver sandals, a silver clutch, diamond drop earrings, a pink lip, and a vintage inspired bob would see Jennifer back in my good graces.
Finally I have a wish for funny girl and SPY actress Melissa McCarthy. I am hoping that the plus-sized actress actually puts some thought into her red carpet look. Most of the brands that I would put Melissa in didn't have anything that I could picture her wearing on the runways but I know they would whip up something fabulous and custom for the actress. I would love to see Melissa is a custom Marchesa or Tadashi Shoji gown for this red carpet but alas there wasn't anything from either brand from their runways or look book's that really spoke to me. I picked this Escada Pre-Fall 2015 ensemble because it is something that I can picture Melissa wearing on a red carpet, I don't necessarily think that this is the right type of look for the Globes, it is more of a SAG look, but If she tucked the blue top into the black silk high low skirt; and added a diamond necklace, old Hollywood Waves, a silver Edie Parker clutch, and a pair of Christian Louboutin black pumps this look might be able to be elevated to a Globes worthy red carpet look.

I will be live tweeting the Golden Globe Awards red carpet with my partner in snark Kelly from Dream In Lace on Sunday January 8, 2016 starting a 6pm. 2015 Hollywood Film Awards Wish List Part 1

Sunday night are the 2015 Hollywood Film Awards, the kickoff of the race to the Oscars, and I gotta say that I am extremely excited to see what all the stars will rock on the red carpet. What I love about the Hollywood Film Awards is that they announce honorees and its one of the more laid back awards shows, everyone knows who's one and it's basically just a gala celebrating all of the honorees. Alicia Vikander is being honored with the Hollywood Breakout Actress, which she has earned thanks to her performance in "The Danish Girl." I have been loving almost everything that Alicia has been wearing this second half of the year and she is the only Louis Vuitton brand ambassador that I am actually enjoying seeing on the red carpet. I am wishing though that Alicia will put LV on the back burner in favor of other brands for Sunday night's awards. I picked this this Prabal Gurung Spring 2016 RTW tea rose ensemble which includes a crepe de chine blouse and chiffon fitted evening skirt with coiled pleating details and a slightly flared hem because I think that the relaxed elegance of this gown is perfect for Alicia's no fuss glamour. I think Alicia would definitely be giving people something to talk about while wearing this gown. A gold Louis Vuitton clutch (so that she is still representing the brand), a pair of gold Jimmy Choo sandals, and a chic upswept hairstyle would be the perfect finishing touches to keep Alicia on top form for this red carpet as she starts her Oscar campaign.
I still have very little faith that funny lady Amy Schumer will give me anything worth loving on the red carpet, she is starting to develop fashion interests but they are still in their fledgling days. With that in mind Amy will be on hand Sunday night at the Hollywood Film Awards to accept the Hollywood Comedy Award thanks to the movie "Trainwreck," which she wrote in stared in this summer. I love Amy's womanly curves, I just think that she hasn't learned to dress them yet. I picked this embroidered Bibhu Mohapatra Spring 2016 RTW halter neck keyhole pencil dress for Amy for this red carpet because one can never go wrong with a perfectly tailored pencil dress and the embroidery and color blocked neck make this dress anything but basic. Some might say that this look is do demure, ladylike, and proper for Amy who is known for her crude type of humor (I find her to be incredibly funny) but I think that she should explore absolutely every option when it comes to red carpet dressing to find out what is the best fit for her. Now where Amy had a great gown at the Emmy Awards ( a beautiful custom Zac Posen) her hair was a hot ass mess, and Amy you can still do a comedy routine about being a trainwreck and not always look like one. A sleek low bun and a light pink lip are the perfect beauty choices to keep that chic and elegant look that the gown is giving. Finish off with a pair of nude Christian Louboutin pumps and a gold clutch and Amy will for sure have a beautiful moment on the Hollywood Film Awards red carpet.
I can not say how happy I am to see Carey Mulligan finally getting back to the woman that I fell in love with back in 2010 (when I named her Best Newcomer on my old blog LoveIt or HateIt.) Carey has had major moments in Chanel, Alexander McQueen, & Marc Jacobs while promoting "Suffragette" and I am hoping that Sunday night when she receives the Hollywood Actress Award for her work on the film that she keeps it up. I picked this Victorian floral Alexander McQueen Spring 2016 RTW one shoulder gown gown for Carey because of its relaxed glamour. Carey is usually very no muss no fuss when it comes to red carpet dressing and this gown I think would be a beautiful moment for the British actress on the red carpet. This collection was one of my top collections of all the Spring 2016 RTW shows and I am praying that we see a lot of it on the red carpet and what better way to kick off the race to the Academy Awards than in Alexander McQueen.
When I saw that Jane Fonda is going to be honored with the Hollywood Supporting Actress Award for her work in the film "Youth" I got very excited. Jane has not had a good run promoting this film first the disastrous Schiaparelli gown at Cannes and then the dated Yves Saint Laurent Couture at the Toronto International Film Festival and I am hoping that Sunday we will see Jane back on her top form. I decided to pick a pantsuit for Jane for this red carpet because this has been the year of the amazing trouser looks from Jane. First it was Balmain at the Grammy Awards, then Zuhair Murad Couture at the Vanity Fair Oscar Part, and then Elie Saab recently and I think that adding Atelier Versace to that mix is the only natural progression. Some of my favorite looks from Jane have been courtesy of Versace and I think that this would be no different. This Atelier Versace Spring 2014 Couture white pantsuit with silver embellishment on the jacket is something that I think Jane would rock the hell out of. I think that this suit paired with a white chiffon pussy bow blouse, a pair of silver metallic Christian Louboutin pumps, and a silver clutch would make for a killer moment for Jane on this red carpet and start off her Oscar campaign quite nicely,

#Emmys2015: Oustanding Actress in a Lead Role in a Comedy Nominee Wish List

The comedy stars rarely hit high notes on the red carpet and I am not expecting much aside from that. Amy Poehler tends to stick to very basic looks on the red carpet and many of her looks are black. I picked this J. Mendel Fall 2015 RTW silk crepe gown which features a plunging neckline, high center split, and gold silk lame inserts for Amy to wear for the last Emmy Awards where she will be nominated for "Parks & Recreation." Some people are predicting that Amy will walk away from this years ceremony with her first trophy for her last performance in the show, so Amy needs to make sure that she is on point. Finished with black peep toe pumps and a gold clutch and this look will be perfectly on point for the Emmy Awards red carpet.
Amy Schumer showed off her burgeoning red carpet chops as she promoted her latest film "Trainwreck." I am interested to see what she will wear on the red carpet for the Emmy Awards. This will mark the first time that the funny lady will be on the red carpet at the Primetime Emmy Awards so I wonder if she will go big or go home, or will she stick to a simple look. Amy's red carpet MO is usually short and tight, not the standard of dress for the Emmy Awards. I think that this red one shouldered Badgley Mischka Fall 2015 RTW flowing silk gown is a perfect red carpet ensemble for her first Emmy's red carpet. I am having a battle with myself over whether or not that Amy should wear the gold bejeweled belt but I also think that disrupting a fluid silhouette would section Amy off and that just wouldn't be a good look. A gold clutch, a pair of gold sandals, and a chic bun would finish this look off perfectly for Amy's first Emmy Awards red carpet.
"VEEP" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus is Amy's only real competition to take the Emmy Award home and set a major upset. Julia tends to stick to black on the red carpet and I think that she would be instantaneously drawn to this black Monique Lhuillier Resort 2016 with a high round racer shape neckline and an exposed back, a bead embroidered necklace that extends to the straps at the back, and a floor length fit and flare silhouette. Julia knows how to make these types of looks look anything but basic and I am sure that would be the case again. Styled with simple hair and makeup, a black clutch and black sandals and this simple look would be finished perfectly for the Emmy Awards red carpet.

I will be live tweeting this years Emmy Awards red carpet and telecast with Kelly from Dream In Lace on September 20. I hope you will follow me and Kelly on Twitter and join in on the conversation! I am excited as this is our awards tradition now, so pop your bubbly and join in the fun.
