What Should You Wear? Haute Couture Fashion Week

While running around the streets of Paris in July for the Couture shows next week the fashionistas will be battling temperatures in the 90s and 100s. I am sure that we will see the ladies working lots of flowing dresses, skirts, chiffon tops, and shorts.

Shop The Look For Less: Givenchy Spring 2015 RTW

Givenchy is always one of the hottest shows of fashion month and Riccardo Tisci produces some of the most coveted styles in all of fashion so it is no wonder that many of his design ideas show up in the fashion fashion stores. This all black catsuit was one of my favorite looks from the Givenchy Spring 2015 RTW collection and I have to say that I am not shocked that this is what has shown up. The Pretty Little Thing bodysuit top would makes it so that you can get the illusion of a catsuit. Paired with faux leather leggings from Target gives that luxe ultra sexy look. Finished off with a pair of BCBGeneration peep toe booties and you have yourself a version of one of the seasons hottest looks at a fraction of the price

Fast Fashion: Lily Pulitzer for Target

Targets around the country, well at least throughout the southern United States, were filled with young ladies and sorority sisters this morning who were all on hunt of the most desired designer collaboration that Target might have ever launched. Lily Pulitzer for Target literally just showcases the bright bold candy colored patterns that the high end Lily line is known for. I personally know that all of the Phi Mu, Zeta, and Chi Omegas at my university barely slept in order to be able to get their hands on some of the pieces in this collection.
I have selected five of my favorite pieces from the collection. Up first is this amazing sugary pink and creamsicle colored "Giraffeeey" linen shift dress ($38). Emmy Rossum rocked this dress on the red carpet at the Lily Pulitzer for Target collection launch party in NYC last week, and was one of my favorites. The dress is just so fun because from first look I didn't realize the dress had a giraffe print but that just adds to the sophisticated fun that Lily is known for. Next is a multi colored strapless ankle length dress in a "Nosie Posey" print ($34). This dress is perfect for picnics in the park. A fun jumpsuit is a perfect way to mix it up at your next summer barbeque. This blue and whit strapless printed flowing jumpsuit in an "Upstream" pattern ($40) is perfect for such an occasion. The moment I saw this aqua and white "Sea Urchin for You" flowy spaghetti strap dress ($30), I immediately sent it to several of my friends (much like the Giraffeeey dress) so that they would add it to their wardrobes. Perfect for a beach side cocktail party I can't wait to see which of my friends actually took my advice. And last but not least I have selected the "Nosie Posey" shift dress that Camila Alves rocked on the red carpet at the NYC Launch. A perfect dress for champagne brunch on a Sunday morning. I have to say that while I have never really been a fan of Lily Pulitzer, this collection is perfection and I am excited to see what pieces I will see around my college campus.

Grammy Menswear: A How To Guide

The Grammy Awards are Sunday night and all the clamor is about what the female music stars like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and Madonna will show up wearing. I have to say that menswear when it comes to the red carpet is typically boring. Guys either show up in t-shirts and jean or in full on black tux. There is not really any variation. I will say that thanks to designers like Saint Laurent we have seen slight deviations from the "typical" menswear look for the red carpet. I actually pulled two pieces from Saint Laurent, a tuxedo jacket with leather lapels ($2,750) and leather slim fit pants ($3,190) for the look that I would wear if I was going to the Grammy Awards. I thought that this crisp white Givenchy shirt was a perfect edgy addition with its zipper details on the collar and cuffs ($520) as well as the black and white Alexander McQueen skull embroidered silk bow tie ($170). Finish the look with a pair of unexpected white Adieu derby shoes ($700) and you (or me) would be ready to take on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards. This would also be a perfectly complimentary look to the Grammy look I posted yesterday for a beautiful lady.

Get a Grammys Red Carpet Look

With the Grammy Awards on Sunday night I am praying for lots of major moments on the red carpet. Many of the stars will be wearing Haute Couture and that is just something that I know most people are not able to afford, don't we dream though. I so I created a slightly, yes not by much the whole look I created costs $4,910.  I picked a Christopher Kane Resort 2015 neon yellow all over lace one shoulder mini dress features an asymmetrical one-shoulder silhouette with multicolor flower applique at the neckline and hem ($3,840), a Koku "Vivia" appliqued woven clutch multicolored clutch and with a pineapple crest ($175), and a pair of Charlotte Olympia Resort 2015 sandals which feature a multi colored pom inspired by Mexico ($895) to create a perfect Grammy Girl ensemble. Throw this on with a high sleek pony and a soft pink lip and you would be ready to take on the Grammy Awards red carpet with the likes of Beyonce, Ariana Grande, and Gwen Stefani.
