#NYFF15: "The Assassin" Premiere Wish List

Shu Qi kicked off the promo tour for "The Assassin" at the Cannes Film Festival wearing an Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2015 off the shoulder cocktail dress (pictured left) and I was hoping that she would keep that momentum going but her premiere look was forgettable. She did redeem herself at the Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony wearing Elie Saab Couture, but I am really hoping that she keeps on a role when it comes to the films New York Film Festival premiere later this month. I think that this seafoam green Armani Prive Spring 2015 Couture tea length gown with its sleeveless top, full skirt, & obi inspired belt. This is a ladylike chic moment that is perfect for NYFF. Shu should keep this look simple with just a chic bun, a pink lip, diamond studs, and a pair of silver sandals to ensure that she is on top of Best Dressed Lists.

I am excited that a major Asian beauty is confirmed to walk the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. No one does major film festival glam like an Asian star and I am really looking forward to seeing what Shu Qi will rock on the red carpet. For the "The Assassin" photocall, the film is premiering In Competition, I would love to see Shu wear this Giorgio Armani Fall 2015 RTW fully beaded multicolored halter top and black cigarette pant ensemble. I think that this look is perfect for a photocall in Cannes. At other festivals this would be wayyyyyyyyy to much for a photocall but at Cannes, where one can wear couture in the daytime, this look is par for the course. Turning up the glamour dial 1,000% for the premiere I would die if Shu Qi wore this white to yellow Giambattista Valli Fall 2014 Couture gown with a menswear inspired button down blouse and white to yellow ruffled ball skirt. The gown really brings drama and like I said no one does drama like an Asian film star. A red lip, chic slicked back bun, a pair of yellow diamond Chopard chandelier earrings, and a pair of gold sandals would just finish off this dramatic look in a chic and elegant way.

2013 Golden Horse Awards Wish List

Many readers will know that I love an Asian red carpet, mostly because we are more likely to see extravagant avant garde looks than we are on other red carpets around the world. On Saturday the 23rd some of the biggest names in Chinese film will gather for the 2013 Golden Horse Awards. Nominated for Best Leading Actress at this years awards ceremony Guey Lun Mei should go big or go home in this Andrew Gn Resort 2014 ball gown. This sophisticated yet still modern look, consisting of a black ball skirt and lime and yellow strapless bustier, would make for an amazing red carpet moment. Finish the look with a black Roger Vivier crystal buckle clutch and a pair of black pumps and I think that Guey would shine on her big night.

Sammi Cheng stepped out during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival wearing a glittering nude Talbot Runhof long sleeved creation, but to her disadvantage Heidi Klum had worn it weeks earlier. Also nominated for Best Leading Actress, Sammi can redeem herself with the brand by donning this Talbot Runhof Fall 2013 RTW blue and silver sequined gown with one caped sleeve. This gown is edgy yet glamorous which seems like it would fit very well with Sammi's style. A simple black satin clutch and a pair of simple black satin peep toe pumps to keep all the focus on the dress.

Shu Qi is known on the asian red carpets as one who usually brings a very girly regal glamour to the red carpet but there have been a few steps out of that style for her this year and as she is nominated for Best Leading Actress at the 2013 Golden Horse Awards I am hoping to see a big bold look from her. Shu Qi is one of the few ladies that will grace this red carpet that has the ability to be loaned a couture creation and I think that this black Valentino Spring 2013 Couture lace ball gown would be a perfect choice for Shu to wear on the red carpet. This is a very sexy villainess look where as she usually would pick a sweet princess gown. Finish the look with her hair swept back and up, as not to take away from all the shoulder and neckline detail of the dress, and a simple pair of black pumps and she will have a look that would make her look like a sexy temptress.

Now the princess, or well should I say queen, moment will most likely come from my Queen of Cannes Zhang Ziyi at this years 2013 Golden Horse Awards. The stunning Chinese actress always thrills me when she takes to the red carpet because she has such a range of looks. I am praying to see Zhang wear one of the stunning gowns from the Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture collection at this awards show. This dove grey ball gown would look just like a second most glamorous skin on her. Simple diamond jewelry and a pair of silver sandals as well as a simple up do will ensure that Zhang will make it on the best dressed lists.

2012 Venice Film Festival: Premiere Wish List Part Two

Kristin Scott Thomas is a stunning woman and amazing French actress most known in the USA for 'The English Patient,' Mission: Impossible,' and 'Confessions of a Shopohilic.' This year at the Venice Film Festival she will be debuting her new French film 'Cherchez Hortense.' Kristin has an amazing sense of style and knows how to dress elegantly yet still modernly for her age. I would love to see her wear this amazing Armani Prive Fall 2012 Couture ensemble. The look that consists of a navy satin vest and bell skirt as well as a sequin embellished top would be amazing on Kristin. She would give us her best Victoria Beckham inspired pose working the pockets. Add a pair of satin pointy toe pumps and some amazing Van Cleef & Arpels sapphire earrings to complete this sophisticated ensemble.

Noomi Rapace really stepped out on the red carpet scene at the Venice Film Festival in 2010 and she returns this year to promote her new film 'Passion' Having worn some of the most amazing designers in the past such as Elie Saab, Givenchy, and Alexander McQueen I would like to see her continue to embrace the avant garde and wear this abstract leaf print black and green Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 Couture (Not RTW) gown. I think that she would work this gown and make it just as fabulous as it was on the runway and showcase the dramatic train that follows it. Add a black satin clutch, black strappy sandals, and some amazing emerald accessories to complete this Film Festival ensemble.

Rachel McAdams will also be promoting 'Passion' at this years Venice Film Festival. I would love to see the stunning blonde actress wear this acid yellow Jason Wu Spring 2012 RTW gown with a rise and fall hem. I have been shocked that this has not been worn as of late for any event by Diane Kruger, Lea Michele, Reese Witherspoon, or Jamie King but I think that Rachel could more than do this gown justice. I am praying to see this gown on the red carpet because it was one of my favorite gowns of the Spring 2012 RTW collections. Add a silver clutch and strappy sandals as well as some amazing diamond chandelier earring and a statement cuff to finish off this look.

Chinese actress Angelababy has made a huge splash on the red carpet this year wearing stunning designs by Elie Saab and Barney Cheung and I am hoping that she continues to wow during the 2012 Venice Film Festival where she is going to promote her new film 'Tai Chi 0.' I would love to see her wear this Christian Dior blue chiffon one shouldered ball gown modified to not have the black modesty panel or to have a nude one. I think that this color would look amazing on her skin tone. Add a sapphire blue Roger Vivier 'Short Night' clutch with a crystal buckle and some matching strappy cage sandals as well as some amazing sapphire earrings to complete this stunning princess like ensemble that would even have Catherine Middleton envious.

Also supporting 'Tai Chi 0' is actress Shu Qi who is a red carpet veteran who has worn haute couture and custom gowns like she purchased them right off the rack, as she wears them with such ease. I would love to see Shu wear this purple Louis Vuitton Fall 2012 RTW gown. I would have the dress made full length, just like I recommend for Fan Bingbing. I think that this look paired with a silver Louis Vuitton clutch, purple pumps made to match the dress, and some diamond earrings would be an amazing option for the Asian actress. As I said in the Laetitia Casta post there is always a night for Louis Vuitton on the Venice Film Festival and I think this would be a great look for that night.

Golden Horse Film Awards Wish List

I love Asian red carpets! Why? Because most of the actresses, models, and singers like to make a splash in extravagant designer duds. So for the 2011 Golden Horse Film Awards I have chosen two of my favorite Asian Actresses on the red carpet to create wishes for, because who doesn't need a little diversity in their lives?

Carina Lau is the first actress that I have a wish for. Carina looks amazing on the red carpet and favors designers such as Versace and Ferragamo. For this years Golden Horse Awards I want Carina to wear this Atelier Versace gown (see I told you Atelier Versace will no go away on this site). This paired with matching black sandals and a standout aqua clutch to complete this elegant ensemble.

Asian film stars also LOVE Elie Saab and anyone who loves Elie is a friend in my book lol. Shu Qi wears a lot of different brands from Gucci and Stella McCartney to Elie, hence why I have chosen this amazing white Elie Saab Fall 2011 Couture gown, silver sandals and a simple bracelet would be the perfect top to this super sweet ensemble.
