#NYFF15: "The Lobster" Premiere Wish List

We are going to be seeing quite a bit of Lea Seydoux on the red carpet in the coming months. "The Lobster" is hitting almost all the major film festivals, and she is one of the femme fatale characters in the next Bond film "Spectre." For the New York Film Festival premiere of "The Lobster" I wold love to see Lea wear this white long sleeve Christian Dior Fall 2015 Couture cocktail dress with its embellished chainmail-esque overlay. I think that this simple dress is elevated by the chainmail overlay making this look anything but basic. I would keep the styling very clean to keep with the air of the ensemble finishing the look off with a pair of white Christian Louboutin sandals, loose waves, and a light pink lip.
We might actually see a lot of Rachel Weisz on the red carpet over the next few months too for the same reasons as Lea; as Rachel's husband is "Spectre" star Daniel Craig.  NYFF is a more laid back film festival so you wouldn't expect to see stars showing up in show stopping gowns, stunning cocktail ensembles are the norm. With that in mind I picked this black and white asymmetric Antonio Berardi Resort 2016 cocktail dress that is rendered in a variegated striped print and features an asymmetric neckline with a single off the shoulder sleeve, a fitted bodice with a layered blazer design at one side, and a knee length sheath silhouette. The fitted silhouette would show off all of Rachel's stunning curves. Finish with a pair of Christian Loubotuin black sandals, a red lip, and a sleek updo and Rachel would be perfectly dressed for the NYFF red carpet.

#NYFF15: "The Assassin" Premiere Wish List

Shu Qi kicked off the promo tour for "The Assassin" at the Cannes Film Festival wearing an Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2015 off the shoulder cocktail dress (pictured left) and I was hoping that she would keep that momentum going but her premiere look was forgettable. She did redeem herself at the Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony wearing Elie Saab Couture, but I am really hoping that she keeps on a role when it comes to the films New York Film Festival premiere later this month. I think that this seafoam green Armani Prive Spring 2015 Couture tea length gown with its sleeveless top, full skirt, & obi inspired belt. This is a ladylike chic moment that is perfect for NYFF. Shu should keep this look simple with just a chic bun, a pink lip, diamond studs, and a pair of silver sandals to ensure that she is on top of Best Dressed Lists.

#NYFF15: "Steve Jobs" Premiere Wish List

Kate Winslet is never one of my favorites on the red carpet, as she is usually very predictable and basic. I am not reaching for the stars in predicting that Kate should wear this black and white Narciso Rodriguez sleeveless below the knee fitted dress. This gown checks all of Kate's boxes: monochromatic, hourglass fitted, knee length, & by one of her go to designers. I think that the slight print on this dress is the only thing that isn't very Kate about this look. Finished with black sandals, a black clutch, a sleek updo, and a red lip and Kate will definitely have a wonderful red carpet look.

#NYFF15: "Maggies Plan" Premiere Wish List

"Maggie's Plan" is another film that will be premiering at both the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival. I gotta say that I have not been thrilled with what Greta Gerwig has been wearing on the red carpet recently, but I know that she has potential to be amazing on the red carpet. For this premiere I picked this cobalt Monique Lhuillier guipure lace tea length cocktail dress with a deep v-neck with scalloped trim, a wide fitted waistband, and a full skirt. I think that this very ladylike option is perfect for Greta to get her red carpet footing back on the NYFF red carpet. Finished with a pair of gold sandals, a gold clutch, hair worn elegantly up, and a pink lip to ensure that Greta looks perfect on the red carpet.
I am so excited that Julianne Moore is going to be working the festival circuit this year. After killing awards season and the Cannes Film Festival, Julianne is well on her way to taking home my Red Carpet Diva award at the End of the Year Style Awards. For the "Maggie's Plan" premiere at the New York Film Festival I picked this amazing gardenia white Elie Saab Resort 2016 long sleeved beaded and embroidered tulle cocktail dress for the stunning red head to rock on the red carpet. I love to see Julianne in these light ethereal colors. This gown is a blank canvas for accessories so I would pick a bright colored Bulgari serpenti clutch, a pair of gold Givenchy sandals, a red lip, and a loose bun to ensure that Julianne rocks the hell out of the NYFF red carpet.

#NYFF15: "In The Shadow Of Women" Premiere Wish List

We are very used to see Clotilde Courau on the red carpet at film festivals, I am sure she will make a surprise appearance at the Venice Film Festival, but usually not as an actress. Clotilde will be premiere her latest film "In The Shadow of Women" later this month at the New York Film Festival. Clotilde has a good relationship with the designers at Valentino and she has worn the brand many times on the red carpet, most recently at the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony, and I think that this black embellished cocktail dress from the Fall 2015 Couture collection would be perfect for this red carpet. This costume reminds me of roman military costume and I think that it would make for quite the offering at the New York Film Festival. Since the dress is so subtlety dramatic I believe that a pair of simple black sandals, a wavy updo, and fresh faced makeup will ensure that Clotilde will look absolutely beautiful on the NYFF red carpet.

#NYFF15: "Carol" Premiere Wish List

I am SOOOOOOO excited about the "Carol" premiere at the 2015 New York Film Festival. I have not had enough Cate Blanchett in my life this year and it seems like we will be seeing a lot of her over at least the next two months. For this premiere I would love to see Cate wear this off the shoulder Marc Jacobs Resort 2016 long sleeved mirror embellished gown. I have been picturing either Cate or Nicole Kidman wearing this gown since it was first presented. I think that this is a more modern look than we are used to seeing Cate wear but I think that she would rock the hell out of it. Finish this look with a wavy faux bob, black sandals, and a bright red lip and this look will be absolute perfection.
Rooney Mara is almost too predictable on the red carpet. She will most likely wear a white or black dress for the "Carol" premiere at the New York Film Festival, but I am holding out hope for something slightly different. I would love to see Rooney wear this lemon sorbet colored Givenchy Fall 2015 Couture feathered tea-length gown for this premiere. I think that the soft pastel color of this dress fits Rooney's non bold personality. Finished with a pair of nude sandals, pulled back waves, and neutral makeup will ensure that Rooney looks sensational on the red carpet.

#NYFF15: "Brooklyn" Premiere Wish List

After promoting "Brooklyn" at the Toronto International Film Festival, Saoirse Ronan will premiere the film at the New York Film Festival later this month. I would love to see a sugary sweet side of Saoirse, who is known for her avant garde style. This cotton candy pink Giambattista Valli Fall 2015 Couture mini dress is the type of look that I would love to see Saoirse wear for this premiere. The tulle almost tutu-esque skirt and the embellished bow at the neckline just scream ultra femininity. Since there is a lot going on in this look I would keep the styling simple with a pair of silver sandals, sleek hair, and a pink lip. All that would ensure that Saoirse would kill the NYFF red carpet.

2014 New York Film Festival: "Birdman" Premiere Wish List

As the closing night Gala of the New York Film Festival I am sure that the cast of "Birdman" will be digging into the couture closets of the worlds most fabulous designers, again. Emma Stone, who right now Indiewire is saying is a good bet for a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 2015 Academy Awards, worked the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival opening ceremony premiering this film wearing a stunning forest green Valentino Fall 2014 Couture gown, is the one that I am most looking forward to seeing take tot he red carpet at this premiere. I think that this beige to charcoal ombre Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture cocktail dress that features a subtle cherry blossom print would make the perfect red carpet moment for Emma at the NYFF. This is a simple pretty dress but with Emma's banged hair in a chic loose up do, a pink lip, and some metallic grey sandals she would have a look that would wow fashion critics from here to Timbuktu.
Naomi Watts did not make it to Venice for the films premiere but I am hoping that she will take to the red carpet come the New York Film Festival. Like I said, Emma wore Valentino Fall 2014 Couture for the Venice premiere and killed it. I think that Naomi should pull her red carpet look from the collection. This white Grecian draped cocktail dress from the Valentino Fall 2014 Couture collection would look stunning on Naomi and I think that she would bring an elegant life to the red carpet in this ensemble. A bold turquoise Bulgari clutch that features stunning stone clasp design, a pair of gold sandals (to compliment the gold hardware of the bag itself), and a pair of stunning Bulgari statement earrings will ensure that Naomi has a killer red carpet moment at the NYFF.

2014 New York Film Festival: "Two Days, One Night" Premiere Wish List

Marion Cotillard will undoubtedly wear Christian Dior whilst promoting her film "Two Days, One Night" at the 2014 New York Film Festival. The film about a mother lobbying to keep her job amongst her co-workers is set to premiere on October 5, 2014. The film has been generating buzz for possible Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations, so Marion might be preparing herself for another awards season red carpet run. I think that this white Christian Dior Fall 2014 Couture fringe flapper-esque dress with a single blue spot would be an edgy yet beautiful choice for the actress who just can't seem to find her footing this year on the red carpet. I think that this is the perfect mesh between something edgy and avant-garde and something that is classic and elegant. This is a line that Marion tends to walk as she chooses her red carpet ensembles and this would be a successful look, but only if styled correctly. I would pair this look with just a simple pair of blue sandals to ensure that the dress does all of the talking and then finish the look off with a sleek vintage inspired updo and a red lip so that you definitely feel the vintage inspiration in the whole look. If she put the whole look together like I say then I think that Marion would have a truly great red carpet look on her hands.

2014 New York Film Festival: "Saint Laurent" Premiere Wish List

French beauty Lea Seydoux will take to the red carpet at the 2014 New York Film Festival to premiere her film "Saint Laurent" on Tuesday September 30th. The actress has stayed loyal so far thus year to Muccia Prada by only wearing Miu Miu and Prada on the red carpet. I would have expected her to break away and wear some custom Saint Laurent as the film is a biopic on the life and times of the houses late founder. Despite that I figure that Lea will wear yet another Muccia Prada designed frock for the films NYFF premiere. I saw the Miu Miu Resort 2015 collection and loved the idea of layering dresses which was done very chicly within this presentation but none of the full looks would I have picked for Lea to wear. So naturally what would I do? Pick two dresses from the collection that I would layer to give Lea the perfect red carpet look. I would put the flowing navy chiffon dress featured all the way right under the embellished suede shift dress to give a monochromatic statement that reads totally of the 1960's when the Saint Laurent house was founded. I would finish the look off with a silver box clutch, a chic up do, a bold red lip, and a pair of navy sandals to ensure that Lea gives perfect face on the NYFF red carpet.

2013 New York Film Festival Tribute Gala Wish List

As regular readers will know I am completely and utterly OBSESSED with Cate Blanchett. There is very little wrong that this woman can do in my eyes (Christian Dior disaster at the Deauville Film Festival aside.) I love that she brings a classic or futuristic regal air to every red carpet. There is a buzz that Queen Cate will be a shoe in for nominations for her Woody Allen film 'Blue Jasmine' come awards season which means Cate in lots of glamorous ensembles. During the 2013 New York Film Festival, Mrs. Blanchett, will be taking to the red carpet to receive a tribute from the Film Society at Lincoln Center. The very first look that Cate gave during the 'Blue Jasmine' promo tour was a light pink Balenciaga gown recreated from a gown that sits in the houses original archives and I am actually hoping that she will turn to the brand again for her New York Film Festival Tribute Gala. This white cocktail dress with statement cape shoulders and crisp lines is absolutely perfect for this event. Complete the look with a simple hair style, a pair of white Christian Louboutin pointed toe pumps, a red lip, and simple Van Cleef & Arpels earrings and Cate will continue to show me why I love her so much
