2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Red Carpet Designer of the Year

I cannot lie, I was personally shocked that Christian Dior by Raf Simons ended up being my Red Carpet Designer of the Year. I haven't been a huge champion of Raf at Dior as I feel his ascetic didn't fit the history of the brand itself. What Raf did do for the brand was ensure that the house was on absolutely every red carpet and had a loyal following. With Raf's immediate departure from Dior after the terrible Spring 2016 RTW presentation might mean a change of tide at the house but for now we will celebrate some of the most magical moments from Dior over the past year. So many of these looks actually made it in contention for Best Dressed of the Year, like Emma Stone at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and Kiernan Shipka at the Emmy Awards. With the future of Dior yet unknown I am excited to see what 2016 has in store for the brand.

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Couturier of the Year

For the third time since I started If I Was A Stylist in 2011 Donatella Versace has brought home the Couturier of the Year. Atelier Versace has taken this award home in 2014 and 2012 (there was no couturier of the year in 2013.) What I love about Atelier Versace is that the brand exudes chic, elegance with a high dose of sex appeal. Atelier Versace can be worn by starlets from the ages of 16 to 80 and by a host of women in different professions. My favorite Atelier Versace looks of the year was the asymmetrical white tuxedo worn by L'Oreal ambassador Li Yuchun at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala at the Cannes Film Festival, the electric blue gown that Jane Fonda wore to the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Sea of Trees, the major white moment on Kate Hudson at the Golden Globe Awards, the elegant red that Gwen Stefani wore while performing at the Grammy Awards, and the flowing white gown that Uma Thurman wore on the red carpet at the Met Gala. I continue to love seeing Atelier Versace on the red carpet and I don't see that love slowing down anytime soon. Will any of these looks make the Best Dressed of the Year list? Check back Friday!!

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Ones to Watch

It wouldn't be the end of the year with out me looking forward a little bit. 2015 has been a great year red carpet wise, I put over 1300 looks in to contention for Best Dressed and I am expecting that 2016 will be just as glamourous. I picked three ladies that have made and impact on me this year and who I am expecting to make a bigger impact next year.

First is Alicia Vikander, the Swedish actress is no stranger to the red carpet scene but I am expecting her to make a much bigger splash in 2016. Alicia has been nominated for a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award already and we are expecting to see her take an Academy Award nomination, as well as some possibility that she will win. Alicia has been the only Louis Vuitton brand ambassador that has given me any interest, and while I hope that she doesn't wear Louis Vuitton for every red carpet she does give us something different with each look.

Gal Gadot has really done nothing to make me bat an eyelash at her red carpet style BUT in 2016 she will be premiering her Wonder Woman character in Batman vs Superman. With such a big blockbuster film I am sure that Gal will start to make her name known on the red carpet scene before Wonder Woman and Justice League debut in 2017. I am expecting that Gal will make for an amazing red carpet star as she takes on such an iconic character.

Finally there is Zoe Kazan. I had seen her name pop up on some red carpets in the past but it wasn't until she showed up in a red and white candy striped custom Miu Miu gown on the red carpet at the 2015 Emmy Awards. This look took her from an unknown to my best dressed of the Emmy Awards list and I am excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet in 2016. With two feature films and a TV movie releasing in 2016 I am sure that we will continue to see Zoe grow, but will she get stuck in a Prada/Miu Miu rut?

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Red Carpet Diva of the Year

Red carpet queen Cate Blanchett has been dethroned as the Red Carpet Diva of the Year. This year the Red Carpet Diva Award goes to Juliane Moore who had a whopping 27 looks in my best dressed. She topped Best Dressed Lists at the Golden Globe's, Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Oscars, and the Cannes Film Festival and had amazing looks outside of those events. On top of a campaign that ended with her winning an Academy Award for "Still Alice" and then went on to promote 3 films at the end of the year. Wearing the best of the best from Givenchy, Chanel, Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, and Armani Prive I continuously drooling over all of Julianne's looks. Just when I thought that she had reached her peak she one upped herself. I am excited to see what 2016 will bring for Julianne as she will be all over the red carpets during awards season again and then Cannes.

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Queen of the Sidewalk Runway

If you wanna find fun flirty inspiration for your day to day look you have to look no further that this years Queen of the Sidewalk Runway, Reese Witherspoon. Reese ran around Hollywood this year rocking a bevy of ultra chic, feminine ensembles as she shopped, took meetings, and ran to the airport. Reese has always been one to op for ladylike and chic. It really has been a delight seeing Reese on the sidewalk this year and I hope she keeps the street style runway working just as much next year.

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Young Hollywood

Does it really surprise anyone that Mad Men actress, the 16 year old, Kiernan Shipka is my Best Young Hollywood (again.) I never tire of seeing Kiernan on the red carpet. She knows how to work avant garde and couture while not looking like she is trying to dress older than she is. Be it Dior Couture, Delpozo, Giambattista Valli, Valentino, or Mary Katrantzou Kiernan is always on the best dressed list when she steps out on the red carpet. If she already knows what she is doing can any wait for the Atelier Versace and Chanel Couture days? I am sure that they are on their way and I have to say that I am super excited to continue to see what Kiernan will continue to grace the red carpet with.

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Promotional Tour

I waited almost the entire year for Lea Seydoux to start her promo tour for the latest James Bond film "Spectre" because I knew it was going to be amazing. I have always adored Lea's style and she definitely lived up to my expectations and then some. I was hoping that Lea wasn't going to wear only Prada and Miu Miu for the almost all of the promo tour. I have to say that while she did wear almost all Prada or Miu Miu (only stepping out twice in a brand other than Prada or Miu Miu) no two looks were the same or remotely similar either. Lea looked all the part of a screen siren and Bond girl and I was sad to see this tour come to an end. I hope that this will be the mainstream market breakthrough for Lea as I would love to see her rock more and more red carpets.
