#VMAs2015: Best Dressed at the 2015 VMAs

 So the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards were last night, and I gotta say that I was quite underwhelmed by the red carpet. Many stars played it way to safe, some looked like they just left the beach, and very few took risks. Rita Ora took a risk and went for sexy high glamour in her custom Vera Wang gown with its ostrich feather ball skirt. While I can't believe that I am topping a best dressed list with a black gown, there really was almost no color to be seen on the red carpet anyway.

FKA Twigs continues to show us that she is someone to reckon with on the red carpet. Her black Atelier Versace Fall 2015 Couture ensemble, may be likened to the ensemble that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore to the collections presentation, was sexy and dramatic. This is what I expect to see on the VMAs red carpet. 

I am sure many of you will disagree with me but Miley Cyrus in her custom Atelier Versace chandelier harness and boots really rocked it out. This is a music video awards show and the stars are not taking enough risks. What other awards show could you get away with wearing something like this on the red carpet and not get torn to shreds? I don't even think that this would have gone over well at the Grammy Awards but on Miley at the VMA's it was pure perfection.

Taylor Swift rocked a firey beaded fringe Yousef Aljasmi bodysuit to lay down the hathet and perform with Nicki Minaj, whom she had been feuding on twitter with (I have a whole other theory about that but we will just stuck to the fashion.) I think that Taylor has become quite the sexy thing over the past year and she definately knows how to work it.

While I was really in love from the get go with her performance outfit, it took me a little longer to get behind the two piece Ashish ensemble that TayTay wore on the red carpet. I was thinking that 1989 got a little too literal with this sparking houndstooth ensemble that reminds me of a 1980's workout video. I will say that what I did like about this is that on a sea of safe that Taylor did take a risk and that risk paid off. 

Why was Ciara at the 2015 VMA's? Your guess is a good as mine but I am really happy that she was. Her Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2015 Couture fringe ensemble was one of my favorite looks of the night. I think that on any other night I would have looked at this and gone WTF, but last night when I was craving some avant garde fashion Ciara brought it.

#VMAs2015: Miley Cyrus Hosting Wardobe Wish List

A few hours before MTV announced the nominees for this years Video Music Awards they made an announcement that Miley Cyrus is going to be the hostess of this years ceremony. A bold choice since Miley is known for being so controversial, anyone else remember the 2013 VMA's? I gotta say that I am actually really excited to see what Miley pulls out of the closet for the VMA's. I would love to see Miley wear this black Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2015 Couture gown with a plunging neckline, embellished waist, and feathered train for the VMA red carpet. This is sexy and slinky, two of Miley's check boxes for a red carpet look, which is perfect for the VMA's red carpet. This is an elegant yet sexy statement. Finished with a red lip and a pair of black sandals this would be a best dressed look for Miley to wear for the VMA red carpet.

We all know that chic sophisticated Miley will only rear her head once or maybe twice during this years VMA's and I honestly cant decide which type of look I am most looking forward to seeing, Chic yet sexy Miley or WTF Miley?  I am sure that Miley has had this white catsuit from The Blonds Fall 2015 RTW collection that features embellished pasties and uhmmmm vajazzling. This look screams Miley and I honestly can't say that I would be mad at it. This is the VMA's where anything goes, even meat dresses. I also think that this hip hop-esque Moschino Fall 2015 RTW gold leather bralet and patchwork denim and gold leather jeans is a perfect look for Miley to wear for the VMAs. Miley and Jeremy Scott have a good relationship and I am sure that at least one look that Miley wears for the VMA's is going to be from Moschino. For a more high end look I think that this zebra print and black sequin Saint Laurent Fall 2015 RTW mini dress is sexy and tacky and wow which Miley loves to work as well. Finally I gotta say that I have been waiting for Miley to wear this red Atelier Versace Spring 2015 Couture bralet and pant ensemble since it was first presented back in January. I think that this is that chic sophisticated sexy that Miley would look amazing wearing on stage at the VMA's. It is really hard to predict what Miley will wear? Is she going to go down the chic route or is it going to be a total disaster? I guess we will just have to wait and see.

2013 MTV Video Music Awards Wish List: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift like buddy Selena Gomez has been working on the pop princess to pop star transformation but hers has not been as smooth. Taylor has stuck to the same brands that dressed her in her over-embellished ball gown days. One brand that she seldom wore before the start of her transition and has quite generously aided in the more grown up Taylor has been J. Mendel. Having donned several of Giles Mendel's designs from hot off the runway to custom ensembles for some of her major red carpet appearances at the Grammy Awards, the Met Ball, and last year MTV Video Music Awards where she wore a sleek white tuxedo. For this years MTV Video Music Awards I would love to see her wear this amazing black leather spaghetti strap bustier with a skirt with a sheer panel. This look is a total 180 degrees from the glittery Taylor and is definitely something much more grown up for her. Complete this look with a sexy pair of black Christian Louboutin strappy booties and sleek straight locks would make this the perfect ensemble for this years awards.

2013 MTV Video Music Awards Wish List: Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez has really mastered the teen to adult transition and just coming off her 21st Birthday and I can definitely see that Selena has grown to be a fabulous woman. For the big night where Selena is expected to take home at least one moon man award and to do so I would love to see her wear this dove grey Giambattista Valli Fall 2013 Couture strapless cocktail dress. This dress might be a little tame for the occasion but Selena doesn't really do crazy for the red carpet. This dress paired with a silver Edie Parker clutch, a pair of silver Jimmy Choo platform sandals, some simple diamond dazzlers on the ears, and a cocktail ring with a statement stone to stand out against the simple grey palate. If she does this with her tresses just flowing over one shoulder and Selena will have a hit on her hands at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on August 25th at 8pm.

2013 MTV Video Music Awards Wish List: Rihanna

Rihanna started this year on a high not with her light etherial red chiffon Azzendine Alaia gown at the 2013 Grammy Awards but has been all over the fashion map for the rest of the year. I am hoping to see top standard RiRi back on the red carpet at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. For this red carpet I would love to see Rihanna wear this blue to black ombre Zuhair Murad Fall 2013 Couture mermaid gown with a feather skirt. For those of you who read and don't know me I have a huge thing for looks with feathers I think they are fun and when done correctly can be very chic. This is a gown where I think that it is done in a very chic way. Just a simple up-do and no jewelry or back and a pair of black simple sandals. I think that this would be a perfect look for an MTV red carpet for RiRi.

2013 MTV Video Music Awards Wish List: Pink

I have to say I have been a huge fan of the songs that Pink has put out in the past year as it has been really catchy or really passionate which are two things I look for in music that I put onto my iPod. With that said while I may love her music I am not always a fan of her red carpet dressing. Pink is not a typical red carpet lady as she is not a girly girl and tends to find edgier looks to wear on the red carpet. I think that this white silk chiffon top and black and silver embellished skirt from the Juan Carlos Obando Fall 2013 RTW collection is a perfect match for Pink. This is, what I believe to be, a perfect mix of red carpet glam and tomboy for Pink as I still think her best red carpet look came from a frilly Tony Ward couture gown at the 2010 Grammy Awards and this could go on the same rack of amazingness. I would complete with an edgy hairstyle and a pair of black sandals and this would be a huge improvement over several of her past red carpet ensembles.

2013 MTV Video Music Awards Wish List: Paula Patton

Paula Patton is the wife of R&B crooner Robin Thicke who has one of the catchiest tunes of the summer, 'Blurred Lines,' nominated for a VMA. I will say I am not entirely looking forward to seeing Paula at this years MTV Video Music Awards because this year she has given all kinds of hot mess looks on the red carpet. She needs to fire her stylist in favor of someone who would actually be able to dress her and flatter her. I had to go back to the 2012 Golden Globe Awards to find a decent picture of Paula in her yellow Monique Lhuillier mermaid gown. While a gown is not where I think that Paula should go for the 2013 VMA's I do think that she should stick to Monique Lhuillier because the two of them usually make good red carpet music together. I think that this gold brocade print crepe georgette peplum corset top and black silk crepe pants would be the perfect ensemble for this event. Complete this look with a pair of black Christian Louboutin platform pumps and a black oversized clutch and ditch the coat paired with this ensemble.

2013 MTV VIdeo Music Awards Wish List: Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus I believe has finally grown into her own personal style not dictated by anyone just her. Her run on the red carpet really started back in May at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards where she wore a stunning crystal embroidered Balmain Spring 2013 RTW jumpsuit and continued with a black vintage Versace cocktail dress at an event for an iHeartRadio event. Well for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards I would love to see Miley wear this grey crystal embellished Atelier Versace Fall 2013 Couture crop top and evening skirt. Miley has been going for this glam punk look and I think that this is the perfect look for her to do so. A pair of gunmetal grey Jimmy Choo sandals, her hair styled into a faux hawk, and a red lip would be the perfect way for Miley to complete this VMA ready ensemble.

2013 MTV Video Music Awards Wish List: The Timberlakes

Justin Timberlake is one of the two artists nominated for the most MTV Video Music Awards so I have no doubts that he will take to the red carpet at the Barclay's Center on August 25th. The 'Suit & Tie' singer will with out a doubt don a Tom Ford suit and tie for the event as he and Justin have partnered to dress him for his 20/20 Experience tour. I think that this blue jacquard Tom Ford Spring 2014 Menswear ensemble would be the perfect choice for Justin who knows how to step outside of the standard black tux look when he wants. I would exchange the shoes that the look was paired with on the runway for a pair of simple black patent lace up oxfords and Justin will look HOT, well hotter than he usually does.

I am expecting to see the new Mrs Timberlake, Jessica Biel, at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards as she has been the Best Plus 1 this year standing by her husband at all of his events from Time 100 to the Grammy Awards to the Cannes Film Festival. I think that this black strapless Oscar de la Renta Resort 2014 cocktail dress would be perfect for Jessica as a plus one. I would imagine that she would have this skirt fully lined and then pair it with the on trend white pumps and a clean face would keep Mrs Timberlake on the track as the perfect plus 1.

2013 MTV VIdeo Music Awards Wish List: Beyonce

In exactly a month the best of the music world will gather at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, NY for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. One star who won't have to travel too far is Beyonce, who resides in Manhattan with her husband, Jay Z, and daughter, Blue Ivy. It was at this same event 2 years ago that Beyonce announced to the world that she was with child wearing Lanvin and Dolce & Gabbana. This year I do not believe that she is with child so I am choosing to have her wear this daring sexy Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2013 Couture gown. This gown features an angular skirt with a cut to there and a deep deep plunging necking and long sleeves to combat the overt sexiness. I could see Beyonce pairing this dress with some emerald earrings, an emerald cocktail ring, and a pair of silver sandals to complete this amazing red carpet look.
