Bohemian Goddess: Florence Welch in Gucci at the 2016 Grammy Awards

Florence Welch has always been the queen of bohemian glamour on the red carpet and that was crazy apparent on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards last night. Flo wore a custom pink Gucci gown embellished with stars and moons and bows and I think that only she would be able to make this look work on the the red carpet at the Grammy Awards. I was expecting Florence to wear Gucci as she was named the face of Gucci's fine jewelry and watch collection just last Friday and she definitely did not disappoint me.

#Grammys 2016: Adele, Carrie, Florence, Nicki, & Taylor Red Carpet Wish List

The Grammy Awards are coming up next Monday and I am super excited for this years red carpet and show. There are so many strong and fabulous women performing, nominated, and attending that I think the red carpet will be an overload of edge and glam. Adele is probably one of the women that I am most looking forward to seeing on the red carpet. The last time Adele was on the red carpet she wore a Valentino Couture floral print cocktail dress, which some likened to grandma's sofa, and people either loved or loathed it. I personally loved this look on Adele. It was the first time that she was seen as a person who could take fashion by storm. For the red carpet on Monday I am sure that Adele will show up wearing a gown or dress custom made for her by her friends at Burberry or Jenny Packham, but if she would pick a gown off the runway I think that this floral black and navy lace Oscar de la Renta Spring 2016 RTW gown which is rendered in tulle and features an a-line silhouette with a jewel neckline, ruby and navy floral appliques scattered throughout and a full floor length skirt. I think that this romantic feminine look is perfect for Adele. The cap sleeves and the full skirt just add to the chic romantic sophistication of this gown. Finished with a pair of black sandals, voluminous waves, a red lip, a smoky eye, and diamond cluster earrings would just continue to cement Adele as a fashionista. For her performance of "When We Were Young" during the telecast I would love to see Adele rep a British brand wearing this bronze Ralph & Russo Fall 2015 Couture long sleeve gown which featured an embellished lace bodice and a pleated lamé skirt. I think that this gown fits the mood of the song and I can picture her on the stage behind her microphone with lights beaming off into different directions and autumn leaves projected onto screens behind her. Now is that the set up that is going to happen? I don't actually know but I can picture it in my head.
Carrie Underwood is very hit or miss on the red carpet for me. I tend to think that she is a little more pageant style than red carpet but when she does it right she is really good. I picked this strapless silver white Tony Ward Spring 2016 Couture textured gown which features an asymmetrical high-low hemline, sequin embroidery, and organza ruffles for Carrie to wear on the red carpet for the Grammy Awards on Monday night. It might be a little oxymoronic that I picked this gown after just stating that Carrie tends to look very pageant-y and this gown has the potential to go that direction. I think that if Carrie styles this look correctly that this could be a great red carpet moment. I would add a silver glitter Amanda Pearl clutch, silver Jimmy Choo 'Leslie' sandals, old Hollywood waves, a smoky eye and nude lip to keep this look edgy glam and not toe the pageant line.
Florence Welch and her band The Machine are nominated for five awards at the 2016 Grammy Awards and I am super excited to see what she is going to wear on the red carpet on Monday night. Florence has always been one for me to watch and there are a gaggle of potential designers for her Grammy night ensemble. The two times that Flo has been on the Grammy red carpet she has worn Givenchy Couture, recently she has been wearing a lot of Gucci on the red carpet so she might wear a custom Gucci gown, but I would really love to see Flo wearing this red Valentino Spring 2016 Couture batwing gown which featured delicate embroidery and a drop waist. I think that this gown fits perfectly with Florence's bohemian vintage inspired style and the sheerness of the gown adds the perfect Grammy Awards red carpet edge. A pair of gold sandals, a gold clutch, and fresh faced makeup would finish this look off perfectly for the red carpet.
Nicki Minaj is nominated for 3 awards at the Grammy Awards and I am very intrigued to see what the rapper is going to wear on the red carpet. Last year Nicki was very subdued in a black beaded fringe gown by Tom Ford and she was seated front row at the Givenchy Spring 2016 RTW presentation in New York back in September but I am going in a different direction for her red carpet looks. I picked this gold sequined Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2016 tea length gown which features a plunging neckline, long sleeves, and sheer panels for Nicki because it meshes her attention grabbing antics with classic glamour which I feel has been something that she has been going for a little more of with her red carpet options. Finish the look with a pair of black Givenchy sandals, pin straight slicked back hair, and a red lip to keep this look subtly sexy and chic.
Taylor Swift will be performing one of the songs from her album 1989 that hasn't been nominated to open the 2016 Grammy Awards on Monday night and I am excited to see what she will wear on the red carpet prior to her performance. I would love to see Taylor, who is nominated for seven awards, wearing this white and orange Atelier Versace Spring 2016 Couture long sleeve gown which features a crystal mesh sleeve and cutout detail for her red carpet appearance. Taylor has not yet worn Atelier Versace on the red carpet but I think that she would kill the red carpet wearing this type of gown. Since coming out with 1989 and fully transitioning into pop Tay has been experimenting with her red carpet looks and I think that this would be the ultimate culmination of her red carpet transformation. This look combines high glamour with edge, sex appeal, and athleisure which I think would make for a perfect Grammy Awards red carpet look for Taylor. I would have Taylor wearing a pair of orange Versace sandals, carrying a white Edie Parker clutch, and her bob worn pin straight to just punctuate this look perfectly for the Grammy's and for Taylor.

Valentino Fall 2014 Couture Presentation Wish List

Emma Stone rarely does wrong and I would love to see the red headed beauty seated front row at the Valentino Fall 2014 Couture presentation next Wednesday night at the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild. With her films "Magic in the Moonlight" and "Birdman" already generating Academy Awards buzz it would seem appropriate that Emma be seated front row at one of the brands that she favors if not many many more. On her epic "Spider-Man 2" promo tour Emma wore 4 Valentino ensembles between appearances, premieres, & photocalls. For this front row I would love to see Emma wear this colorful 1970's style Valentino Resort 2015 cocktail dress with lace cuffs and bib. Not many would be able to make this look work off the runway as it is a very complicated and dated dress but I think that Emma could work it. With her wavy bob, a red lip, and a pair of simple Saint Laurent 'Jane' sandals in black Emma would have a perfectly styled front row moment.
Florence Welch is a Valentino front row regular and it would not surprise me to see the folk singer take to Fall 2014 Couture presentations front row. With her third studio album in the works right now I am sure that we will be seeing a lot of Flo around as she keeps up appearances. This floral and butterfly embroidered tulle dress from the Valentino Fall 2014 RTW collection is a perfect look for Florence. While she will most likely wear pants, Flo loves herself some pants for a front row look, I think that this dress would make much more of an impact. With her fiery locks and the runway's pumps this ensemble would be complete for the front row.
Naomie Harris started the "Skyfall" promo tour two years ago and has not slowed down since. Naomie has just grown on her red carpet looks since then going from clothing that was seasons old to straight off the runway couture. To be seated on the front row of this presentation I would pick this Valentino Fall 2014 RTW navy blue caped cocktail dress for Naomie to wear. I would pair this with a pair of silver Valentino crystal encrusted pumps and simple hair and make up to ensure that Naomie has a best dressed moment seated front row at the Valentino show next week.

Runway Report: Houghton Fall 2014 RTW

This past Thursday I was blessed to attend my very first runway show during New York Fashion Week. Houghton Fall 2014 RTW was shown during MADE Fashion Week at Milk Studios at 10 am on Thursday morning. Designer Katherine Polk looked to two of the most iconic women in fashion history, Katherine Hepburn (Polk's namesake) and Bianca Jagger. A good percentage of the collection focused on pants, mostly wide legged palazzo pants that opened and closed the show. The collection that Polk entitled 'The Rose Collection' which came from the ivory rose motif jacquard fabric that was featured in the first look and then followed several other looks within the collection. Coats were the real center piece of this collection  as almost every single look featured a different coat draped over she shoulders of the models in true Bianca Jagger style. My favorite piece of this collection was the leather bomber style coat with a mohair lining an collar, I could picture Kelly Rowland (who was seated front row) rocking this coat in her day to day street style. A neutral color palette of greys, camel, ivory, and black made this collection light and elegant. Expert draping played quite well against impeccable tailoring to make sure that each look embodied the glamour of the 1940's and the casual elegance of the 1970's. Each look was accessorized with a pair of custom Houghton x Birkenstock sandals that featured a wide range of embellishments including mohair and crystal encrusted appliques. Hair provided by Adam Markarian for Oribe and makeup provided by Maud Laceppe for MAC completed the fantastic look that Katherine Polk envisioned for Fall 2014. Below are some of the looks that I most want to see take to the red carpet from the collection and the stars who I can picture wearing them. I was really excited to see this collection and I hope that I am able to take in the Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection come September.

2014 Grammy Awards: Nominee Wish List Part 1

Sunday night will bring us another big awards show red carpet, and quite possibly the funnest one of the season, The Grammy's. Alicia Keys has one nomination at this years Grammy Awards for Best R&B Album for 'Girl on Fire.' I will say at the end of 2013 Alicia worked the stage, performing at several different events, in designers like Armani Prive and Manning Cartel and I am hoping that she will keep up the fantastic looks come Sunday. While a new Alexandre Vauthier collection was released today I think that Alicia should wear this edgy Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2013 Couture halter neck mono-chromatic ensemble. I think what makes me love this look for Alicia is the mix of classic and uber sexy, which is exactly what works for her. Finish the look with a pair of gold Christian Louboutin sandals and some simple jewelry and this will make for the perfect Grammy look.
Last year Beyonce might not have taken to the red carpet a lot but showed her amazing sense of style through her performance ensembles while on her Mrs. Carter World Tour and ultimately won my Entertainer of the Year award. Sunday night Beyonce is nominated as the featured artist on her hubby Jay-Z's Best Rap/Sung Collaboration or 'Part II (On the Run)' and I am praying for a stunning red carpet ensemble. I am turning to one of the brands that Bey wore quite a bit while on tour, Emilio Pucci. This body hugging white Emilio Pucci Spring 2014 RTW long sleeved gown features quite a bit of skin for a gown which is so covered up and I think that it would look absolutely fantastic on Beyonce. Add a white and gold Edie Parker clutch and a pair of Christian Louboutin gold sandals to complete this look and give Beyonce a best dressed list worth ensemble.
While Amy Adams gave us our first peak into the Valentino Shanghai Collection 2013 on the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, I am hoping that we will see Grammy nominee Florence Welch also pluck a gown from this collection. Florence Welch is nominated in collaboration with Calvin Harris for a Best Dance Song Grammy for their hit 'Sweet Nothing.' I am hoping to see the indie rock diva wear this red and maroon Valentino Shanghai Collection 2013 long sleeved collard gown. This is something that I can see Flo really going for on a red carpet, it's floaty and very vintage looking. With her red hair pulled up and a pair of red sandals on her feet a red lip will be all that I wish for to complete this ensemble for the Grammy Awards red carpet.
I have not loved a Katy Perry look in a very long time. Last year Katy ditched the quirky persona that made me fall in love with her in favor of much more sophisticated looks. If sophisticated is the route that Katy is going to go then I would like to see the the Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance nominee for 'Roar' wear this white Giambattista Valli Fall 2013 Couture rise and fall strapless gown. The Spring 2014 Collection for Giambattista Valli was presented yesterday in Paris but I am still holding out a little bit of hope that this gown will get a red carpet appearance and I think the new Katy is the girl to do it. Finish the look with a strappy pair of silver sandals and some statement diamond earrings in her ears and Katy will make a big sophisticated statement.
And finally for today we have Best Song Written for Visual Media ('Young & Beautiful' from 'The Great Gatsby') and Best Pop Vocal Album (Paradise) nominee Lana Del Rey. I am usually very indifferent to anything Lana Del Rey does. She usually fails to elicit any excitement from me in either her music or fashion so I really don't follow her work. With that said I do not expect much from her at the Grammy's but in the slight hope that she might surprise me I think that this black, white, and ivory Antonio Berardi Spring 2014 RTW gown would actually look really stunning on Lana. Lana is a British star who tends to rock British brands and one of the ultimate's right now is Antonio Berardi. Finish this look with a black clutch and a pair of black sandals and Lana will shock me with a great look at the 2014 Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

2013 Met Ball: Givenchy Girls Wish List

At last year's Met Ball Beyonce looks absolutely amazing and was one of the best dressed in her black and purple Givenchy couture gown littered with feathers. Well for this years event I would love to see her dig into the brands archives again to wear this navy blue gown from the Givenchy Spring 2007 Couture gown. I think that this would be a beautiful option for the pop star to wear to the fashion Oscars of the east coast. The shape and color are great for Beyonce and even though this is out of her norm I think that she would wow in the design. Just some simple Lorraine Schwartz earrings and a pair of black peep toe pumps and this look is ready for the Met Ball red carpet.
After having a baby late last year Claire Danes wowed with her banging post pregnancy body at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year. The 'Homeland' actress has been a constant guest of the Met Ball and is a HUGE fan of Givenchy so it will not surprise me if she dons the brand for this years Gala. This amazing Givenchy Spring 2009 Couture gown with a sort of built in cape. This gown would just hug all of Claire's stunning curves and the color would look amazing on her. I tend to love her in paler look as they are simple and classic. Just a sleek pulled back bun and a pair of simple silver sandals that would compliment the crystal broach on the hip and Claire would look amazing.
Since she really stepped out on the scene in 2011 Florence Welch has not missed a Met Ball red carpet. The folk music pop star has amazing relationships with several designers one of them being Givenchy and I would really be surprised if she doesn't wear the brand on the red carpet of this years Gala which is being curated by Vogue's Anna Wintour, actress Rooney Mara, and Givenchy creative director Ricardo Tisci. This nude Givenchy Spring 2007 Couture would be amazing for Florence and this gown is her totally her style and with her flame red hair she would look absolutely stunning.
Jessica Chastain is one of my favorite red carpet divas and I was shocked when she did not wear a Givenchy creation during the span of awards season. This nude creation from the Givenchy Spring 2006 Couture collection would be an amazing option for her to choose for this year's Met Ball. I think that this nude color would look elegant on her and with her rich red locks pulled into a wavy old Hollywood side part like she usually chooses for the red carpet. This is a perfect gown for Jessica because she does not like to carry clutches and this gown does not need one to finish it, just some simple Harry Winston jewels and a pair of gold Jimmy Choo sandals are all that are needed.
Liv Tyler is another fixture of the Met Ball it is like the once a year that she takes to the red carpet and I always look forward to seeing what she ends up wearing. The past two years Liv Tyler has worn a Givenchy couture look and has a great relationship with the design house so I am looking forward to seeing what she will be wearing on this years red carpet. I would love to see her wear this black and lilac floral print Givenchy Spring 2009 Couture gown. The shape of the dress is similar to the gown that she wore last year (pictured left) but the print and no beading make it all that much more different. I think that this paired with a pair of simple black sandals and some amazing diamond jewelery and Liv will make a huge statement on the red carpet again.
Last but not least we have Zoe Saldana. Most often Zoe wears Calvin Klein to the Met Ball but she also has a huge relationship with Ricardo Tisci and the House of Givenchy so it is a 50/50 shot who the Dominican beauty will wear on the red carpet for this years Gala. People who have followed the blog know that I am obsessed with seeing Zoe wear this white Givenchy Fall 2011 Couture which I also wished for her to wear for the 2011 Latin Grammy Awards. Just like then I would not have her wear the shoulder sweater and just make this a strapless peplum gown. I think that this gown would look absolutely amazing on Zoe and a simple pair of gold sandals and a simple up-do. Zoe or Petra Flannery (Zoe's stylist) if you are reading this please make this moment happen I am BEGGING!

2013 Grammy Awards: Nominees Wish List

Carrie Underwood has not wowed me on the red carpet in a long time and I do not think that this teal Georges Hobeika Spring 2013 Couture gown would wow me but I think that this something that would look amazing on Carrie and not be the same think that she always wears. She should finish this look with a silver Judith Leiber bag, silver sandals, and some simple jewelry to complete this looks for the country superstar.
Since this hot pink Gucci Spring 2013 RTW gown walked the runway in Milan back in September I have been waiting for Florence Welch to wear it and I think that the 2013 Grammy Awards would be the perfect platform for the eclectic songstress to wear this stunning creation. I love everything about this dress, from the shoulders to the color to the shape and the sleek and sexy modesty. Finish this off with a sleek pulled back updo and some silver gold sandals and absolutely nothing else as the dress is powerful enough on its own and any other accessories would over whelm the look.
I have never been a fan of Kelly Clarkson on the red carpet she is always alright but they are ok. I think that this black and white Pamella Roland Spring 2013 RTW one shouldered gown is something that is a stereotypically Kelly red carpet dress so it really is a safe option for me to go with as my wish for her to wear. Add a black clutch, black pumps, and some simple jewels to finish this look off.
Katy Perry kicked the crazy colored hair at the end of last year and started giving us demure looks that really should be saves for the likes of Emmy Rossum, Camilla Belle, and Kristen Bell who's job is to just show us and look elegant and glamorous. Katy should stick to the quirky looks that she has always favored in the past which is why I have picked this black Georges Chakra Spring 2013 Couture gown with a sheer beaded side panel and a hot pink lined side cape. This is a demure but quirky look and think that it would look amazing on Katy. Pair this look with some hot pink sandals and a sleek tight pony tail and I think this would be a winning look for Katy.
I am still shocked that more of the Atelier Versace Fall 2012 Couture collection has not been worn. For the 2013 Grammy Awards where Rihanna is not only nominated but also performing I would love to see her wear this green classic Versace print strapless gown from the Atelier Versace Fall 2012 Couture collection. This gown is such a Rihanna gown that I have a hard time picturing anyone else wearing this creation. Finish this look with a simple pair of gold sandals and RiRi's attitude and let the gown speak for itself.
If we can trust anyone to bring a regal glamour to the red carpet at the 2013 Grammy awards it has to be Taylor Swift. This white Elie Saab Spring 2013 Couture gown is the gown that the fashion industry is all begging to see on the red carpet ASAP and if it is not worn at the Grammy's then it will be at the following BAFTA or Academy Awards. I think that this would look amazing on Taylor as I love her in white and I think that this white column gown paired with the matching runway cape would be perfect for her for the red carpet.

Haute Couture Wish List: Valentino

I got major Jolie vibes from the Valentino Fall 2012 Couture collection. So there should be no surprise that Angelina Jolie is the first person to be featured in this post for the collection. I think that this navy long sleeves chiffon gown with a deep draped neck and silver embroidery is something that would look absolutely stunning on Angie and I would praise the day if she were to don this gown.
Florence Welch is a huge loyalist to Valentino as they have lots of earthy flowy styles. I was surprised that Flo didn't wear anything from the Spring 2012 Couture collection but I would much rather her wear this long sleeves ruffled red chiffon gown for her next big red carpet appearance. I almost always love when Flo wears a Valentino gown and am hoping to see many looks on her on the red carpet.
As soon as this back and silver beaded Valentino Fall 2012 Couture draped cocktail dress walked down the runway I knew that it was made for Hilary Swank. Unfortunately she doesn't have any premieres coming up so I am hoping she presents an award at a smaller awards show or attends a charity cocktail gala or sits front row at the Valentino Spring 2013 RTW show in Paris.
Milla Jovovich has to do her promotional duties this coming August and September for her new film, 'Resident Evil: Retribution.' I would love to see Milla wear this several shades of blue color blocked chiffon sleeved gown whilst at one of the premieres for the movie even though I believe that Milla will go more down the sexy Versace route than the demure Valentino road.

Queen of Couture: Florence Welch

Florence Welch really started to catch my attention at the end of 2010 wearing lots of Elie Saab Couture and other amazing designers. So I kept my eye on her through the 2011 year and well lets just say that she won this award in two months. Her First look of this year was when she performed at the Marquee Nightclub in The Cosmopolitan VIP Opening Party in Las Vegas. The singer opted to mix her signature folk style with the glitz and glamor of Studio 54 to create the perfect look fore Las Vegas wearing an Elie Saab Fall 2010 Couture jumpsuit that is 100% hand beaded.
The next time Florence stepped out she was spotted in Park City, Utah at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival where she performed at an after-party hosted by Bing. She choose another earthy colored look from the Elie Saab Fall 2010 Couture collection. This look consisted of a gown with bat-wing sleeves and embellished silk chiffon.
Just weeks after the Bing party Florence stepped out on the red carpet at the 2011 Grammy Awards. This time the performer did not choose an Elie Saab gown for the red carpet but an Avant-Garde gown with a bold bright orange pop of color on her back from the Givenchy Spring 2011 Couture. To me she is one of the few people (the only other I can think of that actually worked a look from this collection was Liv Tyler at the 2011 Met Ball) that had the confidence to wear a look from this collection and I think that she looked stunning.
But Florence did not stay out of Elie Saab for to long because in the opening number honoring the music legend Aretha Franklin, she donned a nude embellished gown from the Spring 2010 Couture collection. This gown is elegant and I love it on her but I could also see a head of state wearing it to a formal gala gathering. But the dress was perfect for Florence who didn't want the focus to be on the dress but on her voice and tribute. I also applaud her because Yolanda Adams, Martina McBride, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Hudson all wore black ensembles, so while her gown wasn't statement making it was all in the same sentence.
And just two weeks after her appearance on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards Florence made her way down the red carpet at the 2011 Academy Awards, where she performed her Oscar nominated song "If I Rise" from the Oscar nominated film "127 Hours" with composer A.R. Rahman. So for the red carpet Florence chose an elegant yellow gown with long lace sleeves and a pleated tiered skirt. Now this gown is something that looks absolutely stunning on Florence and is 100% her personality and style. Some critics said this dress was too matronly and should have been worn by the like of Annette Bening or Melissa Leo but I think that Florence was the customer that Valentino had in mind when they designed this dress for the Spring 2011 Couture collection.
And just a few hours later Florence changed from her yellow gown to a nude gown with a black chiffon overlay embellishes with white and light pink flowers. I love this look as it is not anything that we had ever seen Florence wear up to this point an the fact that she rocked it made it that much better

Don't forget to go to the Facebook Fan Page and like the looks that you would most like to see on the 2011 Peoples Choice Best Dressed. Voting closes on December 16th, so vote now for your favorites.

MTV Video Music Awards Wish List: Florence Welch

I freaking LOVE Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine!!! She always looks so amazing on the red carpet is things that many others would turn their noses up at and say why the hell would anyone wear that. I will admit that she has made me like more than a few thing that she has worn that I hated on the runway. For this even I choose to put Florence in one of her favorite designers Valentino. This gown is got this amazing 70s vibe from it and she rocks that style so often. I love the colors and I think that they would make the red tone of her hair just stand out!
To finish the look I added complimentary colors through a Kotur clutch, Nicholas Kirkwood sandals, Chopard earrings, and a Bulgari ring.
