2016 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

I was really surprised that Kirsten Dunst opted for an all black velvet Valentino Couture gown for the Golden Globe Awards this past week, she looked beautiful but I was expecting something major from Rodarte. I am hoping that when Kirsten steps out for the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday that she gives me something interesting to look at. I picked this white cold shouldered Givenchy Pre-Fall 2016 embroidered gown. While Kirsten has never worn Givenchy in the past this gown is very much her type of look, classic with a bit of a twist. I love seeing Kirsten, with her peachy pink pale skin, wearing light colors and I think she would look so angelic wearing this white gown. Finished with a vintage inspired updo, a lined eye, red lip, diamond drop earrings, a silver clutch, and a pair of silver sandals and this look is ready for the Critics Choice Awards red carpet.
Krysten Ritter is one of the most underrated style stars in the red carpet world. There is very rarely a time when Krysten steps out on a red carpet and I don't love what she is wearing and I am sure that will be the case when she steps out on the red carpet Sunday night at the Critics Choice Awards. Krysten, who is nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for the Netflix series Jessica Jones, would look amazing wearing this black Carolina Herrera Spring 2016 RTW gown which features a deep v-neck, an a-line floor length skirt, and illusion seams throughout. This gown is elegant but extremely modern which is what I think would look amazing on Krysten on this red carpet. I don't expect to see the same type of big gowns we saw on the red carpet at the Globes. Styled with a Rauwolf violet 'Castellum' gemstone clutch, a pair of black sandals, old Hollywood waves, a smokey eye, and a pair of Chopard diamond drop earrings and Krysten will hold her own against some of the most revered red carpet stars.
Mary J. Blige is not one I usually get excited about when it comes to the red carpet. I tend to feel like her style is stuck in the 90s or early 2000's. I am interested to see what she would wear on the red carpet of the Critics Choice Awards where she is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie Made for Television or Limited Series for The Wiz! Live. I decided to go with something a little more modern and edgy for Mary, since she is more of a recording artist than a TV star, by picking this white Jonathan Simkhai Pre-Fall 2016 3D mesh jumpsuit which features a one shoulder neckline with cascading ruffle trim, illusion cutout detailing, a fluid wide leg pant, and one ruffle slashed pant leg. I think that this is a perfect modern look for Mary to rock which still has a load of glamour, the wide leg pant and split mimic the idea of an evening. Finish the look with a sleek sliver metal clutch, a pair of Jimmy Choo silver 'Lance' sandals, and a pair of statement emerald and diamond drop earrings and this is a look that I can get behind for Mary.
I was one of the few who was not a fan of the Lanvin gown that Rachel McAdams wore to the Golden Globe Awards this past weekend and I am hoping for something better when she steps out for the Critics Choice Movie Awards. I picked this black Marchesa Notte Spring 2016 RTW gown which features cap sleeves, side cutouts, an open back, and gold embroidery on the stomach for Rachel who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress thanks to her role in the movie Spotlight. It has been a while since I have actually fully loved a look from Rachel and I would love to see her continue to get better and better, and I think that this gown would help her do exactly that. Finished with a Rauwolf black and gold lace "emerald-cut" clutch a pair of black Christian Louboutin pumps, a wavy bob, and a red lip this would be a perfect look for Rachel on the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards.
Rooney Mara was one that I was intrigued to see what she was going to wear over the course of awards season and my interest is already fizzling out. It has been bland or black since the start and I while I know that is her MO, none of these looks have made me take notice of her. I would love to see Rooney wear this peachy pink Chanel Pre-Fall 2016 embroidered tea length gown with a plunging neckline. I think that this peachy color would be just what Rooney needs to make me start taking an interest in her style again and the feather embroidery helps with that as well. This is a very visually intersting gown and I think that it would make such a beautiful moment on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet. Finish the look with a pair of simple gold sandals and pretty pink makeup and Rooney will for sure get me talking about her again.

"The Color Purple" Broadway Opening Night Red Carpet Wish List

Jennifer Hudson has been slowly getting back to her best. Her red carpet career started rocky and then she lost a ton of weight thanks to Weight Watchers and was working a lot of fabulous creations and last year I was starting to question a lot of her sartorial decisions but this year JHud has been rocking the red carpets like they owe her back rent. Jennifer is staring in the Broadway revival of The Color Purple, which is in previews right now, and will officially open on December 10, 2015. I am excited to see what the stars will wear on the red carpet which will either be before the performance or for a party afterwards. Jennifer has been giving glamorous yet edgy looks and I would love to see her wearing this sleek Zuhair Murad Resort 2016 long sleeved hot pink jumpsuit which features thin lace cutouts and plunging neckline. After being in period costume for the show I can picture Jennifer wanting to wear something very sleek and modern which this jumpsuit definitely is. Keeping the look sleek I would recommend that Jennifer wear the runways hot pink sandals, despite the frigid temperatures on New York City in December, adding a hot pink lip and edgy earcuff will just be the cherries on top of this perfect red carpet ensemble.
Danielle Brooks, of Orange is the New Black, fame is also amongst the top billed cast making her Broadway debut in the role of Sofia in The Color Purple. I am hoping that Danielle continues to show her amazing red carpet style on the red carpet at the shows opening night. Danielle has been championing style for bigger women since she stepped out on the scene (I even included her in my Top 10 from the 2015 Emmy Awards) and I am extremely excited to see what she will wear on this red carpet. I picked this cream Badgley Mischka Spring 2016 RTW halter neck gown with silver foil leaf detailing with silver beading on the halter neck and waist. I don't think Danielle has had a princess moment on the red carpet and what a better time for it than for her Broadway debut. A chic curly updo, fresh faced makeup, a pair of silver sandals, and a silver clutch would finish this look off absolutely perfect for this red carpet.
Oprah is sure to be in attendance on opening night of the Broadway revival of The Color Purple since she is a main producer of the show. Oprah has been closely involved with the story since the beginning staring in the film adaptation of the novel and then being a producer of the original Broadway incarnation. Oprah can be very hit or miss for me on the red carpet, a lot of time that I think that she picks looks that are too much fabric over her. With that in mind I am picking this high impact electric blue Marchesa Notte Spring 2016 RTW off the shoulder lace gown. I think that Oprah would look amazing in this chic simplistic silhouette as it is just enough without being over the top, she is not the star of the show but is high profile enough to warrant a major moment. Paired with her giant pear shaped diamond earrings and a pair of navy satin pumps Oprah will have a beautiful red carpet moment at the Broadway opening night of The Color Purple.

I am currently looking for feedback from my readers if you wouldn't mind taking a quick six question survey I would be greatly appreciative of that, you can take it by clicking here.

2014 Critics Choice Televison Awards Wish List Part 1

The First Lady of "Scandal" Bellamy Young is nominated at the 2014 Critics Choice Television Awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work on the hit political drama. She has come a long way from her start slowly growing better red carpet options. Last week at the closing ceremony of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, Bellamy rocked a sexy Naeem Khan gown and I am hoping that her stellar run will continue at the Critics Choice Awards. This ivory Oscar de la Renta Spring 2014 RTW strapless tiered column gown would be a regal elegant choice for Bellamy to make for the awards show. A pair of gold drop earrings, a gold Edie Parker clutch, and a pair of gold strappy sandals would give this the perfect finishing touches for the red carpet on Thursday.
Emmy Rossum will be playing double duty come the 2014 Critics Choice Television Awards on Thursday night. Emmy is not only nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy for "Shameless" but is also going to be a presenter for the awards show. Emmy rocks all of the best American designers and is one of my absolute favorite stars to see take to the red carpet. For her big night I would love to see Emmy wear this amazing ice blue Jason Wu Resort 2015 minimalist a-line ball gown. While she might have to fight Diane Kruger for this gown, as Diane is also a presenter (my wish for her to come on Wednesday), I would love to see Emmy rock this gown as I know she would do so with great aplomb. A pink lip, a silver Edie Parker clutch, a pair of silver Stuart Weitzman 'Nudist' sandals, as well as some simple Harry Winston earrings would make this look perfect for the Critics Choice Television Awards on Thursday night.
When it comes to the red carpet Julia Louis-Dreyfus is either a big hit or a huge miss to me. She had hits at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards earlier this year in Narciso Rodriguez and Monique Lhuillier respectively. I am hoping that Julia is able to keep up her big run when it comes to Thursday night's Critics Choice Television Awards where she is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy. I think that this red Notte by Marchesa Fall 2014 RTW halter lace gown would look stunning on Julia. I think that this neckline is one that always works for her and I don't think I could tire of seeing her wearing. A pair of satin peep toe pumps dyed to match the color of the gown, a pair of gold drop diamond earrings, and a gold and diamond bracelet would make this gown shine for Julia's big night.
Julianna Margulies is one of the few stars who could snag a couture gown for the red carpet and I am really hoping that she does. After sticking to her signature color, black, for the Golden Globes and White House Correspondents Dinner, I am hoping that Julianna will bring some color to the red carpet come Thursday night where she is nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for "The Good Wife." I think that this blue Armani Prive Spring 2014 Couture strapless gown with all its hand embroidery and embellishments is a stunning choice that Julianna should make for the Critics Choice Television Awards. Julianna has worn a few Armani Prive gowns before and I have never been a fan but I believe that this would be the perfect pairing. A small silver clutch, a pair of silver sandals, and simple but jaw dropping diamonds (in her ears and on her wrist) would send this look over the edge and make international best dressed looks.
