Runway Report: BCBG Max Azria Spring/Summer 2016

BCBG Max Azria SS16 RTW
What can I say about the BCBG Max Azria Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection. The first phrase that comes to mind is: HOT MESS. I picked a very select few looks from the collection, that when I break down the collection and look at pieces themselves I see things that I like. Overall I felt like the BCBG spring collection was a mix of 90s boho grunge meets Walmart quality. For what the average price of a BCBG runway piece goes for I don't think that there is any need to spend that on what was presented. I have been loving BCBG season after season for a while now and this pushes my love back just a little bit. I guess I will be waiting for either Pre-Fall 2016 or Fall 2016 for a collection that I love from BCBG Max Azria.

2015 Creative Arts Emmy Awards Presenters Red Carpet Wish List

The night before this years Primetime Emmy Awards some of the stars and nominees will be out on the red carpet at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards are where most of the Emmy's are actually handed out as there are too many to actually hand out during the 3 hour live telecast. Just because this ceremony isn't live on TV doesn't mean that the stars don't take this red carpet just as serious. "So You Think You Can Dance" hostess Cat Deeley is nominated and is presenting at the Creative Arts Emmys so I am sure that she will be on top form. I would love to see Cat wear this lemon yellow Vionnet Resort 2016 one shoulder gown. Cat loves color and she wears it so well and I am sure that she would look just lovely wearing this simple gown. Finish the look with yellow diamond drop earrings, a pair of gold sandals and a gold clutch and Cat will definitely rock the Creative Arts Emmys red carpet/
Heidi Klum is either love or hate for me on the red carpet and I am hoping that when the "Project Runway" nominated hostess and presenter steps out on the Creative Arts Emmy Awards red carpet next Saturday that I love what she puts down. I think that this black silk crepe Marchesa Fall 2015 RTW gown with its embroidered top, plunging neckline, ostrich feather peplum, & sexy central split is perfect for Heidi to wear. This gown is sexy without being totally in your face. It breaks the cardinal boobs or legs rule (because we all know if Heidi wears this gown that she will work that central split) but I really think that she would look very pretty in this gown. I would finish this look with a black clutch, red sandals, simple diamond earrings, statement diamond pendant necklace, and a red lip to really evoke an old Hollywood sense out of this look.
I have always been a fan of Katherine McPhee on the red carpet so I was quite excited to see that she was on the list of presenters for the 2015 Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The "Scorpion" star has worn Elie Saab before, to the 2012 Met Ball most notably, and I would love to see Katherine rock the red carpet king again. I think that this dusty pink Elie Saab Resort 2016 sleeveless crepe georgette gown with it's lace inserts would make for quite the look on Katherine. We have been seeing her rock a lot of edgy designs recently so I think that a break for something ethereal is perfect. I would keep the styling very simple with this gown. I would finish this look with a matching Elie Saab clutch, a pair of gold sandals, a romantic updo, and a light pink lip to ensure that Katherine doesn't over-cook this look for the red carpet.
I will say that I let out a little squeal when I saw that Nina Dobrev was going to be a presenter at the 2015 Creative Arts Emmy Awards. I absolutely adore Nina on the red carpet, especially when she rocks a stunning gown. Since this is not the place for Haute Couture I figure that Nina will be someone more subdued but I still think she will shut the red carpet down. I think that this tangerine Jenny Packham Fall 2015 RTW spaghetti strap gown with a plunging neckline and flowing skirt would look absolutely stunning on Nina. This is a classic look in a bold color, and Nina LOVES to wear bold colors. A gold clutch, statement earrings, a pair of gold sandals, a chic updo and Nina would be ready to slay the red carpet.

Runway Report: Sachin + Babi Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Sachin & Babi Spring/Summer 2016 RTW
Sachin + Babi has been one of my favorite brands to see slowly be taken into the red carpet arena. We have seen stars like Lily Collins, Nina Dobrev, Scarlett Johansson, Connie Britton, & Taylor Swift have all worn Sachin + Babi on the red carpet before. I am used to seeing mostly casual looks come out of a Sachin + Babi so I am really excited and pleased with the Spring 2016 RTW collection which has a lot of red carpet potential. My favorite look from the collection is the black and white off the shoulder high low gown. I could see someone like Elizabeth Banks or Lily Collins rocking the hell out of this look on the red carpet. The collection really evoked spring with a frilly floral ladies who lunch ascetic. It is far from a trendy collection, but sometimes it is refreshing just to look at something that is really pretty. I am sure that we will see a piece or two from this collection on the red carpet.

Check out all my favorite looks from the Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collections over on Pinterest.

"Sicario" London Premiere Wish List

Emily Blunt sparkled at the "Sicario" premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and I am sure that she will shut down the red carpet at the films premiere in London on the 21st. I think that this yellow Alexander McQueen Resort 2016 strapless ruffled cocktail dress is perfect for this red carpet. Represting a British brand in London is always a win and I think that this 50s inspired dress just evokes the sense of a bygone era. Finish the look with a pair of gold pumps, a chic updo, and a red lip and Emily will have a winning red carpet look for this premiere.

Whats the Scoop? New York Fashion Spring/Summer 2016

New York Fashion Week starts Thursday and I have to say that I am incredibly sad that I am not going to be there as there is a lot of changes coming this season. IMG, the company that produces NYFW, after getting kicked out of Lincoln Center has moved its operations to two different locations. One is Skylight at Moynihan Station and the other is Skylight Clarkson Square. IMG also acquired the rights to MADE Fashion Week that is held a Milk Studios. The big names that shows at the tents at Lincoln Center like Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra, and Badgley Mischka will show at Skylight at Moynihan Station while smaller presentations will take place at Milk Studios and Skylight Clarkson Square. So fashion week is moving south in Manhattan, which let me tell you will make getting from show to show a lot easier. Another big change is the exit of Mercedes-Benz as the title sponsor of New York Fashion Week. This year Lexus will be the exclusive car sponsor of the Spring/Summer 2016 collections.
In runway news Givenchy is forgoing showing their Spring/Summer 2016 at their usual venues in Paris for New York City. The brand is doing so to coincide with the reopening of the Givenchy US flagship boutique which has been closed since 2006. With many famous friends who hold residence in New York City the Givenchy show on  Friday is sure to be a star filled spectacle, maybe a Beyonce or Kanye sighting will happen.
This Spring/Summer 2016 collection will mark the first time that the Donna Karan line will be shown without it's namesake at its helm. Last month Donna Karan announced that she would be stepping down as creative director of the brand to focus her time on her spirituality. Mrs Karan will not be replaced by a new chief creative director instead the collection will be produced by the existing design team.
Donna Karan is also stepping down from DKNY but the boys from hip androgynous brand Public School will be taking over. They designed a stellar Resort collection and I am excited to see what these boys will do with DKNY for their first runway show for the brand.

Other News:

Coach will present its first ever full runway show. The luxury goods brand has favored presentation style events to showcase their collections in the past so it will interesting to see how they go about their first runway show.

Acclaimed menswear designer Michael Bastian is breaking into the womenswear field. During his Spring/Summer 2016 Menswear presentation during New York Fashion Week: Men's last month Michael showed a few women's looks alongside the menswear. I have not been able to confirm yet but it is a possibility that Michael Bastian can show his first full womenswear collection this week.

#NYFF15: "The Lobster" Premiere Wish List

We are going to be seeing quite a bit of Lea Seydoux on the red carpet in the coming months. "The Lobster" is hitting almost all the major film festivals, and she is one of the femme fatale characters in the next Bond film "Spectre." For the New York Film Festival premiere of "The Lobster" I wold love to see Lea wear this white long sleeve Christian Dior Fall 2015 Couture cocktail dress with its embellished chainmail-esque overlay. I think that this simple dress is elevated by the chainmail overlay making this look anything but basic. I would keep the styling very clean to keep with the air of the ensemble finishing the look off with a pair of white Christian Louboutin sandals, loose waves, and a light pink lip.
We might actually see a lot of Rachel Weisz on the red carpet over the next few months too for the same reasons as Lea; as Rachel's husband is "Spectre" star Daniel Craig.  NYFF is a more laid back film festival so you wouldn't expect to see stars showing up in show stopping gowns, stunning cocktail ensembles are the norm. With that in mind I picked this black and white asymmetric Antonio Berardi Resort 2016 cocktail dress that is rendered in a variegated striped print and features an asymmetric neckline with a single off the shoulder sleeve, a fitted bodice with a layered blazer design at one side, and a knee length sheath silhouette. The fitted silhouette would show off all of Rachel's stunning curves. Finish with a pair of Christian Loubotuin black sandals, a red lip, and a sleek updo and Rachel would be perfectly dressed for the NYFF red carpet.

#NYFF15: "The Assassin" Premiere Wish List

Shu Qi kicked off the promo tour for "The Assassin" at the Cannes Film Festival wearing an Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2015 off the shoulder cocktail dress (pictured left) and I was hoping that she would keep that momentum going but her premiere look was forgettable. She did redeem herself at the Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony wearing Elie Saab Couture, but I am really hoping that she keeps on a role when it comes to the films New York Film Festival premiere later this month. I think that this seafoam green Armani Prive Spring 2015 Couture tea length gown with its sleeveless top, full skirt, & obi inspired belt. This is a ladylike chic moment that is perfect for NYFF. Shu should keep this look simple with just a chic bun, a pink lip, diamond studs, and a pair of silver sandals to ensure that she is on top of Best Dressed Lists.
