What Should You Wear? Haute Couture Fashion Week

While running around the streets of Paris in July for the Couture shows next week the fashionistas will be battling temperatures in the 90s and 100s. I am sure that we will see the ladies working lots of flowing dresses, skirts, chiffon tops, and shorts.

Shop The Look For Less: Givenchy Spring 2015 RTW

Givenchy is always one of the hottest shows of fashion month and Riccardo Tisci produces some of the most coveted styles in all of fashion so it is no wonder that many of his design ideas show up in the fashion fashion stores. This all black catsuit was one of my favorite looks from the Givenchy Spring 2015 RTW collection and I have to say that I am not shocked that this is what has shown up. The Pretty Little Thing bodysuit top would makes it so that you can get the illusion of a catsuit. Paired with faux leather leggings from Target gives that luxe ultra sexy look. Finished off with a pair of BCBGeneration peep toe booties and you have yourself a version of one of the seasons hottest looks at a fraction of the price

Enya Black Lace Up Front Bodysuit - Pretty Little Thing
Xhilaration Black Faux Leather Jeggings - Target
BCBGeneration Peep Toe Booties - Nordstrom Rack

Site Under Maintenance

Hello Everyone,

I want to thank everyone who has been a loyal reader of If I Was A Stylist. As I am sure that you have noticed, since the end of the Cannes Film Festival the blog has been pretty quiet. I have been really busy with my personal life and also I am working on transitioning the focus of the site from strictly celebrities to working on other avenues. I hope that you will all fall in love with what I am working on. Till then If I Was A Stylist will un-updated. Thank you for your loyalty and for your patience as I work to make If I Was A Stylist even better!

Best,
Thomas James Monks

My Style: 2015 Tony Awards Viewing Party

Last night the Blumenthal Performing Art Center hosted a Tony Awards Viewing Party at the McGlohon Theater in Charlotte, North Carolina. For the past 4 years me and my best friend have watched this awards show together and this year we decided to go out to watch it. I dressed up for the occasion wearing an H&M tuxedo blazer with leather lapels, a Perry Ellis vest & tie, Van Hussen shirt, black Lucky Brand jeans, a vintage Christian Dior clutch, Maison Margiela x H&M shoes, and a pair of sunglasses I got from the Dollar Store. I love being able to mix my expensive pieces with low end pieces. I firmly believe that not everything that you wear has to be a label as long as you wear it well and with pride. If you haven't been to Uptown Charlotte I would definitely recommend it. The tree lined streets of the metropolitan area give the feel of the suburbs right in the city and there is art everywhere you turn, I love my city.

I would love to hear your feedback. I am trying to diversify If I Was A Stylist and would love to know what you my loyal readers would like to see more of.
