2014 Academy Awards: Presenters Wish List Part 3

The queen of effortless glam Kate Hudson will be on hand Sunday night to present during the 2014 Academy Awards. Kate always makes some appearance during Oscar night looking 100% Flawless, like usual, and I was hoping to see her wear this sexy yellow Atelier Versace Spring 2014 RTW long sleeved gown no matter if she was attending the main ceremony or the one of the fabulous after-parties. The first thing that I would make sure to do is have this gown altered to remove the hood that was featured on the runway. This hood was great for the theatrics of the show but I don't think would translate well off the red carpet on anyone that's not Lady Gaga, Rihanna, or Ciara. A pair of gold peep toe pumps and very simple jewels will make sure that this gown is perfect for the red carpet.
A very pregnant Kerry Washington will also take to the stage at the Dolby Theater on Sunday night as a presenter during the 2014 Academy Awards. Having been mostly a miss on the red carpet during this awards season I am hoping that Kerry will finish off this red carpet season in big grand glamorous style. This white Dennis Basso Fall 2014 RTW trapeze gown with black and gold abstract print is perfect for this red carpet. A gold satin Prada clutch and black Christian Louboutin pumps will complete this look. Simple hair and makeup will just add to the glow that Kerry already exudes on the red carpet with her pre-baby glow.
1950's and Alfred Hitchcock film darling Kim Novak will take to the red carpet at the 2014 Academy Awards on Sunday night before taking to the stage as a presenter later in the evening. While for most red carpet Kim wears formal pantsuits, I am hoping that the timeless actress will don a grand gown for the biggest night in Hollywood. I think that this navy Marchesa Pre-Fall 2014 gown with sheer 3/4 length sleeves and silver floral embroidery will finish off this perfect look for the Academy Awards. I would finish this look off with a pair of silver Roger Vivier silver satin flats with a crystal buckle and a pair of simple diamond drop earrings to give Kim a true Hollywood red carpet moment.

2014 Academy Awards: Presenters Wish List Part 2

Glenn Close has a close relationship with Zac Posen and he almost exclusively dressed the 66 year old actress and I am sure that is not going to change come Sunday night at the 2014 Academy Awards. For this years ceremony where Glenn is a presenter I would love to see her wear this navy blue Zac Posen Fall 2014 RTW gown which features long sleeves and a built in cape. I am in LOVE with this gown, continuous readers know I love me a red carpet look featuring a cape, and I think that this is the perfect look for Mrs Close for this occasion. A pair of navy Salvatore Ferragamo pumps, a navy Prada satin box clutch, and some stunning diamond cluster earrings will finish out this perfect ensemble for the 2014 Academy Awards
This is the first time that I have ever featured Goldie Hawn on this site, so lets give her a warm welcome. Goldie, along with daughter Kate Hudson (who's wish will post tomorrow), are both slated presenters at this years Academy Awards. Goldie still has that loose BOHO chic look that she helped make so popular in the 1970s. For Sunday nights awards I am trying to mesh that BOHO ascetic with the high glamour associated with the Oscars. This gold Jenny Packham Fall 20114 RTW long sleeve beaded gown would be a perfect choice for Mrs. Hawn. This gown would look elegant and dazzling while still being laid back and sexy. These are all things that Goldie looks for in a red carpet ensemble, and most importantly it is age appropriate. Finish the look with a pair of gold stain peep toe pumps, a gold box clutch, and a simple pair of gold cluster earrings and Goldie will dazzle me on the red carpet.
At last year's Academy Awards Jennifer Garner worked the red carpet in an absolutely AMAZING Gucci Premiere gown, and I am hoping that she will give us something just as amazing to talk about this year. I pulled this blush pink Oscar de la Renta Fall 2014 RTW ballgown but there is just something about it that reads a little safe for me. This might be my choice because of the fact that Jennifer hasn't worked any interesting looks while promoting her film 'Dallas Buyers Club,' which is nominated for Best Picture on Sunday night. If she goes this route a pair of gold sandals, a gold clutch, and some dazzling diamonds might help lift this look to a wow moment on Jenn but I am still holding out that she will find the most stunning custom gown in the world like last year.

2014 Academy Awards: Presenters Wish List Part 1

Angelina Jolie will take to the 2014 Academy Awards as one of the nights many glamorous presenters. It's not quite a shock as her long term lover Brad Pitt is nominated as a producer for '12 Years a Slave,' and Ange took home the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 2013 Academy Governors Awards. I figure that for this red carpet that Miss Jolie will don her favorite color, black, but I think that doing so in this strapless Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture embellished gown that features silver ombre embellishments fading from the bottom. In the last year every single one of Angelina's red carpet looks, sans one black Michael Kors ensemble, came courtesy of one of 3 designers: Ralph & Russo, Saint Laurent, or Versace. I am hoping she breaks that run come Sundays awards but I am placing a pretty safe bet that she will revert back to one of her 3.
Earlier this month Anna Kendrick was the darling of New York Fashion Week, popping up in the front row of several major red carpet brands like Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra, and J. Mendel. Despite taking in numerous fantastic gowns that we will undoubtedly take in on Oscar night I have chosen to put Anna in this gold Emilio Pucci Fall 2014 RTW embellished halter gown. I think that if Peter Dundas, the creative director of Emilio Pucci, added a liquid gold fabric underneath this gown as its lining this would make a perfect gown for the 2014 Academy Awards and not just a gown destined for a red carpet premiere or Oscar after-party. A pair of gold simple sandals, a gold Kotur clutch, Anna's hair worn in loose curls, and some very simple jewels will make this look just that much more perfect for Hollywood's biggest night.
It was never a surprise to me when the Academy announced that Anne Hathaway would be attending this years Academy Awards as a presenter. As the winner of the Best Supporting Actress award last year, Anne will be on hand to give another worthy winner their statuette. Having traded out longtime stylist, and friend, Rachel Zoe earlier this year for Penny Lovell, who dresses Rose Byrne and Bella Heathcote, I am expecting some major magic come Oscar Sunday. Rachel Zoe never pulls gowns from Elie Saab, sticking to all the really big names to pull for red carpets like Dior, Chanel, Posen, and de la Renta, and Lovell loves herself a major Elie Saab moment. Lovell gave Rose Byrne her now iconic Elie Saab Couture white jumpsuit moment at the 2012 SAG Awards. I am praying for Anne's first Elie Saab moment to come this Sunday via this white strapless Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture completely embellished gown. This is a perfect statement for the Oscar winner, and presenter to make, especially because Anne has 3 movies slated for release this year. A white Edie Parker clutch, a pair of silver sandals, and some bomb ass statement diamonds in her ears and on her wrist will give Annie the moment to make up for her ugly pink Prada disaster last year.
Jennifer Lawrence will not be the only Christian Dior girl that will take to the 2014 Academy Awards red carpet, she will be joined by J'Adore Dior spokesmodel Charlize Theron. For this awards show, unlike for Jennifer, I did look to the Spring 2014 Couture collection. I did not see any major looks for a nominee but I think this red and white completely sequined gown with stylized circular cutouts would be perfect for the Oscar red carpet veteran. Since last years awards Charlize's hair has grown out from short and boyish to a cute and fun pixie. I think that this dress, accompanied with a red satin box clutch, a pair of red satin sandals, and some very simple diamond earrings will give Charlize that stunning red carpet look that the Oscars red carpet calls for.
And finally for today we have a wish for first time Academy Awards attendee and presenter Emma Watson. Emma has worn nothing but couture this year and why would that stop for Hollywood's biggest night? At the Golden Globes Emma shocked with a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Dior Couture frock that was a gown in the front and pants in the back and for the Elle Style Awards Emma channeled the 1960s in black and white Giambattista Valli Couture. For the Academy Awards on Sunday night I think that Emma will go for a classic old Hollywood glamour look via this cream beaded Chanel Spring 2014 Couture gown with a deep-v neck. Emma has had her share of Chanel Couture moments on the red carpet and I think that she will wear the brand for her first Oscars. I would keep this look simple with just a pair of gold sandals and very simple vintage jewelry to keep the focus completely on the gown.

SITE DOWN

Sorry everyone but If I Was A Stylist is down until 2/26.14. This is literally the worst possible time but I have lost everything that needed to be scheduled due to a tech error. I will be spending tomorrow working on rebuilding all this information. Thanks for understanding. The Oscars Posts will be back up tomorrow.

2014 Academy Awards: Performers Wish List

This years Academy Awards are going to be packed with musical guests. Over the past month since the nominations were announced, and one Best Original Song nominee was disqualified, a host of talented men and women have been slated to perform live on Sunday night. All of the Best Original Song nominees will be performing their nominated songs. First up is 'Let it Go' from Disney's 'Frozen.' Broadway powerhouse Idina Menzel voiced the character, Queen Elsa, for the film and will be on hand Sunday night to perform 'Let it Go,' which is my personal pick to win the Oscar. For this event I have chosen two looks from my red carpet go to designer Elie Saab. For the red carpet I am wishing that Idina will give this jade green Elie Saab Spring 2014 RTW halter neck gown with a crisscross open back the moment that it so deserves. Idina has never worn Elie Saab before and what better platform that the Academy Awards to start a blossoming relationship with the King of the Red Carpet. Finish this look with a gold Jimmy Choo 'Cosma' clutch, a pair of black and gold Jimmy Choo 'Rocks' strappy sandals, and a stunning pair of statement Cathy Waterman fire opal arabesque earrings to give Idina the red carpet statement that she deserves. For her performance of 'Let it Go' I want to give Idina her very first couture moment via this white Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture beaded and caped gown. If you have seen 'Frozen' then you might get why I picked this gown because as soon as I saw it I immediately thought of this couture creation as it is very similar to the gown that Elsa wears in the film. Performing the ballad in this number with a pair of simple silver Jimmy Choo 'Anouk' pointed toe pumps and a pair of diamond and sapphire drop earrings and Idina will kill her performance both via wardrobe and vocals.
I have never heard of Karen O before she was nominated for Best Original Song for 'The Moon Song' from the film 'Her.' I don't know what to expect from the performer when it comes to Sundays Academy Awards but by golly miss molly if I ain't gonna give her a go anyway. It seems that Karen mainly sticks to black and white on the red carpet and I think that this bateau neck Tony Ward Spring 2014 Couture gown with black detail and 3/4 length sleeves would be perfect for her to wear on the red carpet at the Academy Awards. A simple black clutch, black sandals, some simple earrings, and a bold red lip will finish off this stunning red carpet moment. To perform 'The Moon Song' I can picture Karen keeping the black sandals, simple diamond earrings, and bold red lip from her red carpet ensemble and just changing into this black Tadashi Shoji Fall 2014 RTW sleeveless gown with an embroidered bodice and chiffon skirt. I figure that Karen will most likely stand center stage in front of a microphone to perform this song letting lighting and camera angles make the performance interesting so this gown would be perfect.
Not nominated but slated to perform Sunday night at the Academy Awards is Pink. I freaking love this woman who dances to the beat of her own drum and doesn't give a flying fuck in space what anyone else thinks about her. There are one of two duties off the top of my head that Pink could be doing during the 2014 Academy Awards, one is performing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' during the Academy's salute to the 75th Anniversary of the release of 'The Wizard of Oz' or performing a song during the In Memoriam section. Either way before she takes to the stage Pink must take to the red carpet. On the same day that Pink was announced as a performer Versace showed their Fall 2014 RTW collection in Milan and I knew the moment that I saw this cream gown with a Grecian draped neckline, slashed detailed gown with gold embellished straps that this would be my wish for Pink to wear on the red carpet at the Oscars. This gown is everything that Pink is edgy and glamorous. I think that just a pair of gold sandals and simple jewels will finish off this look. Keeping with the same soft theme that I picked for the red carpet I think that this Reem Acra Fall 2014 RTW gown with a gold beaded illusion bodice and white chiffon skirt will make for a dope performance ensemble for either of the situations that I mentioned, tho if Pink decides to do her aerial act then I think a midnight blue Atelier Versace Fall 2012 Couture bodysuit would work as well.

Bette Midler, U2, and Pharrell Williams are all also poised to perform on Hollywood's biggest night, The Academy Awards, Sunday March 2nd starting at 8PM EST on ABC.

Oscar Nominees Outfit Change for the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Wish List

So over the past two days you have seen what I want the nominated actresses to wear to the 2014 Academy Awards ceremony one week from tonight, but I am sure that a few of these ladies will make a wardrobe change as they make their way into the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Up first is Amy Adams, since I choose to put Amy in a ball gown for the ceremony I chose to go with a simpler silhouette for the Vanity Fair party via this ink blue and copper Carolina Herrera Fall 2014 RTW gown. This halter neck gown that features a bow detail at the neck is perfect for the after-party where Amy can let her hair down, so to speak, and relax knowing that the song and dance of awards season is over. A pair of copper strappy sandals, a blue Prada satin box clutch, and simple jewels will finish off this perfect after-party look for Amy.
I am almost positive that Cate Blanchett will take home a little naked gold man come the 2014 Academy Awards next Sunday and will relish her second win well into the night at the Vanity Fair Party. While I don't think that I would ever want Cate to take off the Elie Saab couture gown I want her to wear for the ceremony, but it is just too grand for Cate to wear for the after-party. That is why I picked this grey Ralph Lauren Fall 2014 RTW silk jersey long sleeved gown that features an open back. I have to say that this gown is elegant and sexy and sophisticated all wrapped up into one elegant look. A bright pink lip, a pair of silver sandals, and a pair of diamond cluster earrings will complete this look along with her little gold statuette.
Whilst Jennifer Lawrence must do her obligatory duties and wear Christian Dior for the 2014 Academy Awards ceremony, she will be able to change into something a little bit more fun and edgy for the after party. This bold red Alexander McQueen Spring 2014 RTW strapless gown with a gold waistband would be absolutely perfect. After her big pink Dior ballgown at last years ceremony JLaw partied the night away in a sliver custom Calvin Klein slinky number that just made her look like an old Hollywood movie star. Finish the look with a red and gold Alexander McQueen clutch, a pair of gold sandals, simple hair and makeup will make Jennifer look even more glam on the red carpet at the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
And last but not least we have a wish for the newest red carpet diva to take to the red carpets, Lupita Nyong'o. While she hasn't changed for after parties in the past I think that she will come Vanity Fair from whatever bold creation that is made for her by Prada. The moment I saw this blood orange Prabal Gurung Fall 2014 RTW long sleeved high necked gown that features a side cutout and a split up to there, I knew I wanted to see Lupita wear this creation. This gown is sexy and sophisticated which is something that Lupita pulls off quite well. A pair of gold sandals and her little gold man, that's right I am going against what everyone is saying and I am picking Lupita for the win!, and this look will be completed for the after-parties red carpet.

2014 Academy Awards: Best Supporting Actress Nominee Wish List

Jennifer Lawrence has been MIA on the red carpet for a while, whilst filming 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2', missing the Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon and the BAFTA awards. A week from tonight are the 2014 Academy Awards and I am hoping that the producers of the film will give her the night off to attend. Nominated for her work in 'American Hustle' the Dior spokesmodel will most likely wear another gown from the house. Not feeling like there are any Oscar worthy gowns in the Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture collection I have dug into the archives back to Raf Simons first collection for the house. This Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture strapless gown which is peachy embellished on the from and blue embellished on the back. I have wanted to see one of these gowns on the red carpet since they first took to the runway. Finish this gown with a pair of gold sandals from Christian Louboutin, a gold Edie Parker clutch, and some simple jewels her hair worn in old Hollywood waves over one shoulder and simple makeup will give JLaw another great moment in Dior on the red carpet.
Julia Roberts, much like 'August: Osage County' co-star, Meryl Streep, has not had a great run this awards season. After missing the Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon, much like fellow Best Supporting Actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence, I am hoping that Julia will make a glam statement on the Academy Awards red carpet next Sunday. I am hoping that Julia will revert back to Valentino for Hollywood's biggest night. This amazing long sleeve Valentino Spring 2014 Couture  long sleeved gown is the perfect choice for Julia for this red carpet. This is a mix of indie spirit and red carpet glamorous is something that Julia loves to play with on the red carpet along with menswear. Having played with menswear inspired looks quite a bit this season, I am ready to see Julia rock some hardcore glamour. Silver sandals and some simple Fred Leighton jewels will complete this ensemble for Julia for the Academy Awards next Sunday.
Lupita Nyong'o will undoubtedly wear a Prada or Miu Miu gown come next Sunday at the 2014 Academy Awards. Which is a shame for me because there have been no gowns taking to any of the Prada or Miu Miu runways. There have been quite a number of fabulous gowns from the Prada atelier. If I had to look to the runways for a look to inspire the gown Lupita should wear next Sunday. This black dress with red piping from the recently presented Prada Fall 2014 RTW dress would be absolutely amazing full length without a train. A red Prada clutch, a pair of black Prada sandals, and some amazing diamonds will make this look complete. Just a disclaimer that I think that Lupita will be a joint Best Dressed with Cate and this dress will not get her there but I am sure that she will look absolutely fantastic.

2014 Academy Awards: Best Actress Nominee Wish List

ATTENTION LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THE ACADEMY AWARDS ARE OFFICIALLY ALMOST UPON US! Next Sunday, March 2nd, the biggest names in Hollywood will glide down the red carpet and into the Dolby Theater in LA to award the greatest cinematic achievements in the past year. Today I am going to cover all of the red carpet darlings who are nominated for Best Actress. Up first we have Amy Adams who snagged a nomination for her work in 'American Hustle.' Over awards season we have seen Amy play with fashion giving us a bevy of glamorous looks that were mostly out of her normal comfort zone. One brand that I have yet to see Amy don for a red carpet recently is Giambattista Valli and I am hoping that she has been saving this brand for the 2014 Academy Awards. I think that this Giambattista Valli Spring 2014 Couture gown with a cream peplum bodice embellished with its blue floral detail and its rich blue skirt are the perfect way to show the world that she is nominated, she is a contender, and that she is beautiful. All I would add to this look are some simple silver Casadei pumps, a pair of simple sapphire and diamond cluster earrings, and a very simple diamond bracelet so that this dress and Amy's grace just shows through.
Going into the 2014 Academy Awards next Sunday night Cate Blanchett is already going to be a winner. No matter what she wears, or if she takes home a little gold man, Cate will most likely take the top spot on every Best Dressed list around the world. I am almost positive that Cate will take home the award for Best Actress for her work in 'Blue Jasmine' and I would love to see her doing so wearing this absolutely amazing Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture gown. This off the shoulder cap sleeve gown with exaggerated hips and frilly floral embroidery would look so elegant on Cate with her peachy complexion. Not many women in Hollywood would be able to pull off this absolutely stunning gown but I do believe that Cate has the regal elegance about her to not only make it work but to make this gown her bitch. A simple pair of gold Sandals and a pair of gold tassel drop earrings will make sure that this look is 100% completed for Cate to wear on the red carpet at the Oscars.
There has not been ONE Meryl Streep look that I have liked this entire red carpet season. I am hoping that the Hollywood legend really brings it to the red carpet as she beat out Emma Thompson's performance in 'Saving Mr. Banks' to get here. I think that this deep green Zac Posen Fall 2014 RTW gown that features elegant draping and long sleeves would be the perfect option to redeem Meryl on the red carpet. This gown is sophisticated and age appropriate without being frumpy. Meryl should leave her sunglasses at home, carry a gold clutch, and slip into so gold Salvatore Ferragamo peep toe pumps to complete this stunning look for the actress nominated for her bajillionth Academy Award.
'Gravity' nominated star Sandra Bullock has also had a pretty good run this awards season and I am praying that it comes to a glamorous close next Sunday at the Academy Awards. I am betting that Sandy will turn to J. Mendel for her Oscar dress. The two have had a very good red carpet relationship with each other and I am really excited to see the two pair up again. This brilliant royal blue J. Mendel Fall 2014 RTW gown took to the runway in New York City during Fashion Week and I knew right then that I had found Sandy's gown. The simple silhouette with just a few details will make this an absolutely stunning red carpet moment. This simple gown calls for a big assortment of accessories. A blue and silver Edie Parker clutch, a pair of silver Jimmy Choo sandals, some statement diamond and sapphire drop earrings, a diamond bracelet, and a bold sapphire cocktail ring will give Sandy another amazing red carpet moment.

2014 Independent Spirit Awards: Paula Patton & Shailene Woodley Wish List

Paula Patton is either on my Best Dressed list or my Worst Dressed list. There is no in between for the actress. When she stepped out to announce the nominees for the 2014 Independent Spirit Awards she almost had a good look in white Versace Resort 2014 but she had a large visible stain on the front of her dress. Recently Paula has been wearing a lot of white and black so for the Independent Spirit Awards I am hoping that she brings some color to the red carpet. I think that this sexy lime Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2014 RTW jumpsuit with a daring deep v bustier would be a bold sexy and perfect choice for Paula to make for this event. The Spirit Awards are very laid back and pants and more casual cocktail dresses and even maxi dresses are the norm. So this sleek sexy sophisticated jumpsuit would fit right in. I would actually keep the runway pointed to pumps, add a gold clutch, a chic slicked back hairstyle, and a pair of statement gold drop earrings to complete this look that would have Paula Patton winning in the style department at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Another hit or miss star on the red carpet, who like Paula has more misses than hits, is Shailene Woodley who is nominated for Best Female Lead for 'The Spectacular Now' at the Independent Spirit Awards on March 1st. I am hoping that this will be a night that Shailene delivers a  hit on the red carpet. This orange Jenny Packham Fall 2014 RTW long sleeved mini dress with silver embellishments would be a splendid choice for the young actress. I usually love what Shailene wears when she goes after British designers, if she only wore brands like Jenny Packham, Christopher Kane, and Peter Pilotto for the rest of her red carpet career I think that I would die a happy man. Finish this look with a pair of silver Jimmy Choo 'Lance' sandals and a silver Jimmy Choo 'Tube' clutch and a sleek high pony tail and simple makeup will give the right styling choices to ensure that Shailene is on the Best Dressed List and not the Worst Dressed list!

2014 Independent Spirit Awards: Melonie Diaz & Octavia Spencer Wish List

Melonie Diaz made her red carpet debut in May of last year at the 'Fruitvale Station' premiere during the Cannes Film Festival wearing a blue Emilio Pucci gown. Melonie has earned herself a nomination for Best Supporting Female for the film and I am hoping that she returns to Pucci for her dress for this event. This magenta and blue Emilio Pucci Pre-Fall 2014 cocktail long sleeved cocktail dress would be a perfect option for Melonie to choose for the much more laid back awards show. Finishing the look with a pair of gold sandals, I would remove the runway belt and just let the pattern to all of the talking for this awards shows red carpet.
Not nominated but sure to attend to support her nominated co-stars is Octavia Spencer who is a member of the cast of 'Fruitvale Station.' Octavia has recently stepped out of her little fashion box wearing other brands besides her go to Tadashi. I am sure thought that the two will rekindle their red carpet love affair for this awards show on March 1st. I would love to see Octavia rock the red carpet in this white Tadashi Shoji Fall 2014 RTW light chiffon dress with lace details. I think that this would look light and heavenly on Octavia. Pair this dress with a pair of red heels and a silver clutch to add a pop of color and sparkle to the look and Octavia will be Spirit Awards ready.

2014 Independent Spirit Awards: Cate Blanchett & Lupita Nyong'o Wish List

Cate Blanchett as you no can almost always do no wrong in my eyes, but she did have  a slight misstep in metallic silver Prada at the Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon on Monday. On the day prior to the biggest night in film, the Academy Awards, a host of celebrities will take to the red carpet at the Independent Spirit Awards to honor films that didn't have big studio backing to make them. Cate Blanchett is nominated for Best Female Lead for her work in 'Blue Jasmine,' which also has her in the short list to take home another Academy Award. The Spirit Awards is a much more laid back event and I think that this black Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture jumpsuit with a white blazer with a punched through fabric. Cate does two types of looks on the red carpet. She either goes for a vintage inspired glamorous look or one that brings an edge. This Dior ensemble would be one that brings an edgy moment to the sophisticated Australian actress. I would just pair this look with a pair of bright blue Christian Dior Resort 2014 pointed toe pumps and a bold red lip to give an elegant yet edgy red carpet moment for Cate at the 2014 Independent Spirit Awards on March 1st.
Lupita Nyong'o is another woman that I have fallen in love with on the red carpet. There is really no wrong that the stunning Kenyan actress can do when she takes to the red carpet. While the Spirit Awards are more laid back I think that this black Valentino Spring 2014 Couture tulle cocktail dress with a ballerina skirt would be a perfect choice for the Best Supporting Female nominee. Lupita is the front runner to take home this award and I believe that she will bring it till she takes home her little gold man at the Academy Awards the night after this event. A pair of black sandals and simple makeup will make this look all about the dress and the presence that Lupita has on the red carpet.

Runway Report: Zana Bayne Fall 2014 RTW

Zana Bayne was a show that I had no idea what to expect when I walked in to see it. I honestly had applied to ever single designer that I could when I knew when I was going to be in NYC for New York Fashion Week. In an intimate affair, in the small Crystal Room inside the Empire Hotel, Zana Bayne showed her small 15 look collection of leather wear entitled 'The Ornamentalist.' Stunning leather bustiers, harnesses, belts, and bras were shown with capes and sheer bustle skirts that gave this sexy collection the feel of the 1940's sexy pin-up. Hair in soft waves courtesy of Redkin, a deep berry lip from makeup artist Benny Hancock using Oliv Ares Haus of Glam Pro products, manicures in 'Pepper' by Zoya Nail Polish, and shoes from Shoe Cult by Nasty Gal just gave this whole look an absolutely fantastic sense of sexuality and fabuloisty. One of my favorite things from this show were the harnesses that some of the members of the PR team were wearing that had 'ZANA BAYNE FALL WINTER 2014' spelled out in gold lettering on their chests. It was a nice touch that added to the over all experience. I can't wait to attend the show again next season and see what Zana will bring for Spring 2015!

Runway Report: Sally Lapointe Fall 2014 RTW

Sally Lapointe looked to the blackbird for her Fall 2014 RTW collection shown at Skylight Modern on Friday during New York Fashion Week. The collection worked with shades of blue, black, grey, purple, and gold and had a very uptown meets downtown approach. Chic sleeveless sweaters with oversized turtlenecks were paired with structured leather skirts and Gio Diev for Sally Lapoite pointed toe ankle boots. The music and space really stood out as a play of hard against the softness of the collection. While I was kind of disappointed that the woman put on the map by Lady Gaga showed a tame collection it was still one of the favorites that I saw in my time in NYC!

Runway Report: Desigual Fall 2014 RTW

a
Desigual was one of the shows that I was invited to during that I didn't have to apply for. I honestly didn't know much about the Barcelona based house prior to seeing the show. Victoria's Secret models Candice Swanepoel and Erin Heatherton opened the show which was really fun. The lights went down and a heart on the doors that would eventually open to reveal the models entrace and exits pulesed brights lights to the sounds of a beating heart. The collection entitield "Love in the City" was the designers tribute to their hometown Barcelona. Each look found insperation in the people, architecture, and atmosphere of the Spanish city. A lot of color was infused with black and white to give a punch to traditional Fall dressing. Overall this was a very youthful colllection. All the models had gold painted eyes and chic nude lips created by the MAC Pro Makeup Team, manicures also provieded by MAC, and Pantene provided the hairstyling serviced that crafted the beachy up-dos and ponytails in the collection.

2014 Academy Awards: Presenter Kristen Bell Wish List

As the host of the Academy Scientific and Technical Awards on Saturday, Kirsten Bell will be on hand at the 2014 Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday March 2nd 2014 to talk about the awards that she and Michael B. Jordan will present on to the creative geniuses on Saturday night. Kristen is getting my first wish that comes from the Fall 2014 RTW collection via this dark and mysterious Monique Lhuillier Fall 2014 RTW strapless floral ballgown would be an amazing option for Kristen to wear for the biggest night in fashion. A pair of simple black Stuart Weitzman 'Nudsit' sandals, a Judith Leiber clutch to match the pink in the dress, and some simple diamond accessories will complete this amazing look for Kristen for the Academy Awards.

Runway Report: Houghton Fall 2014 RTW

This past Thursday I was blessed to attend my very first runway show during New York Fashion Week. Houghton Fall 2014 RTW was shown during MADE Fashion Week at Milk Studios at 10 am on Thursday morning. Designer Katherine Polk looked to two of the most iconic women in fashion history, Katherine Hepburn (Polk's namesake) and Bianca Jagger. A good percentage of the collection focused on pants, mostly wide legged palazzo pants that opened and closed the show. The collection that Polk entitled 'The Rose Collection' which came from the ivory rose motif jacquard fabric that was featured in the first look and then followed several other looks within the collection. Coats were the real center piece of this collection  as almost every single look featured a different coat draped over she shoulders of the models in true Bianca Jagger style. My favorite piece of this collection was the leather bomber style coat with a mohair lining an collar, I could picture Kelly Rowland (who was seated front row) rocking this coat in her day to day street style. A neutral color palette of greys, camel, ivory, and black made this collection light and elegant. Expert draping played quite well against impeccable tailoring to make sure that each look embodied the glamour of the 1940's and the casual elegance of the 1970's. Each look was accessorized with a pair of custom Houghton x Birkenstock sandals that featured a wide range of embellishments including mohair and crystal encrusted appliques. Hair provided by Adam Markarian for Oribe and makeup provided by Maud Laceppe for MAC completed the fantastic look that Katherine Polk envisioned for Fall 2014. Below are some of the looks that I most want to see take to the red carpet from the collection and the stars who I can picture wearing them. I was really excited to see this collection and I hope that I am able to take in the Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection come September.

2014 Academy Scientific and Technical Awards Hosts Wish List

On Saturday evening in LA the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present the Scientific and Technical Awards to their honorees with an event hosted by Kristen Bell and Michael B. Jordan. I have always been a fan of Kristen Bell as I think that she is cute and fun and girly but knows how to do edgy really well. I think that this gold lace Marchesa Pre-Fall 2014 gown that is overlaied with black chiffon would be the perfect choice for the actress. I think that this gown is dark and mysterious which really makes for a glamorous statement for Kristen who went full out edgy glam in black Pamela Rolland at the Critics Choice Movie Awards last month. A pair of gold and black Jimmy Choo sandals and a pair of gold drop earrings will finish off this stunning look for Kristen for the SciTech Awards Saturday night.

2014 Academy Awards: Nominee Luncheon Wish List Part 2

Lupita Nyong'o has been on FIRE ever since she stepped out on the scene last September at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Kenyan actress has never ended up on my worst dressed list, EVER and I can't see that happening anytime soon because Lupita is one of the most consistent dressers on the red carpet. I put her on the same pedestal that I put my red carpet queens like Cate Blanchett and Diane Kruger. The Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon is a more laid back event that doesn't require a cocktail dress or evening gown. So I have chosen a Chloe Pre-Fall 2014 ensemble for the stunning actress to wear. The look on the far right that consists of a cream long sleeved chiffon ruffled blouse and navy a-line flouncy above the knee skirt would be absolutely perfect. This is a more girly feminine look that we haven't see on Lupita because she either goes very sophisticated or very minimalistic. Finish this look with a pair of Miu Miu pumps and a bold lip color so that Lupita will have the perfect look for this event.
Unlike Lupita, Sandra Bullock is touch and go with the looks that I like that she wears on the red carpet. I usually like Sandra's more casual ensembles and her super glam gowns but the in between can sometime make me on the fence (not that her casual and glam looks can't its just more sparse.) Luckily for her this is a more casual event and a more buisnessy than other events that she has been attending lately. The last Nominees Luncheon that Sandy attended was the year she was nominated for 'The Blind Side' and she wore a long sleeve Roland Mouret grey structured dress. That dress was really busy compared to the black and white David Koma Spring 2014 RTW color blocked knee length dress that I think Sandra should wear for this event on Monday. A pair of bold colored shoes, I would personally pick blue because I think that they fit Sandra's style, would be all that I add to finish this look off as there really is no need for a bag of any sorts for this event.
