2015 London Film Festival: "Carol" Premiere Wish List

Having not really seen Cate Blanchett on the red carpet since the Cannes Film Festival I am excited that she is being honored at the London Film Festival and is guaranteed to show up. I have missed my red carpet queen and her return will undoubtedly be triumphant. For the "Carol" premiere I would love to see Cate wear this amazing oil slick inspired sequined jacket paired with midnight blue velvet pants from the Armani Prive Fall 2015 Couture collection. Cate and Armani are always a match made in heaven and I am sure that one of her appearances at the London Film Festival will be in Armani. I picked this ensemble because it mixes sex appeal, masculinity, and femininity in such a chic and elegant way that only Cate could pull off. Finish this look with a sleek hairstyle, a bold pink lip, a pair of black pumps, and a purple clutch and Cate will undoubtedly wow on the red carpet.
At the Cannes Film Festival photocall and premiere of "Carol" it was a play on dark and light between Cate and Rooney. I am figuring that same play will be on display in London as well. I searched up and down for the perfect look for Rooney and when I saw that this white Proenza Schouler Spring 2016 RTW ruffled dress with black trim I knew that I had found the perfect look for her to wear on the London red carpet. Rooney does Audrey Hepburn with an edge like no other and I am sure that she would make this dress her own. A pair of simple black sandals and a simple bun is perfect way to style this look for London Film Festival red carpet.

Runway Report: Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Ralph Lauren Spring 2016 RTW
Cruising on the "U.S.R.L. 1967" was the theme of the Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection. These are the type of looks that you want to wear in maritime cities like the Hampton's, Venice, and the south of France. I always love that Ralph Lauren will take his inspiration from else wear but always show the American woman in these places, staying true to his clientele. Sailor hats, straw bags, and cork wedges all help aid in adding to that relaxed nautical yachty style that worked oh so well on the runway. Some of my favorite looks in this collection came courtesy of seersucker ball gowns, these would make such a statement on the red carpet but I have a feeling won't be on the top of everyone's red carpet wish lists. A navy blouse with a train paired with a white evening skirt was my favorite look which I can see Julianne Moore, who along with Jessica Chastain was perched front row at the presentation, wearing on the red carpet.

Runway Report: J. Crew Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

J. Crew Spring 2016 RTW
J. Crew is never one to look at for trends but one to look at for fun fashionable sportswear. I personally love to shop at J. Crew (the 15% student discount doesn't hurt) and I think that the Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection is gonna make for some mighty fine shopping come spring. These are the types of clothes that women want to wear during spring. Off the shoulder blouses, gingham, stripes, flowing dresses, and a whole lot more that just are pretty wearable clothes for all sorts of women. Favorite look was the light blue off the shoulder and yellow circle skirt that was paired with bright blue sandals. That is the type of look that if I were a woman that I would wear every single day during the summer season.

Runway Report: DKNY Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

DKNY Spring 2016 RTW
Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, the boys behind Public School, made their runway debut as the creative directors of DKNY. I wondered how they were going to mix their ascetic with the ascetic of the hallowed label, and they did a pretty decent job. Osborne and Chow focused of the labels roots of creating tailored pieces that women just want to wear. Almost every look had something that you would want to wear to work, which is what Donna Karan had in mind when she started the label. I am interested to see what their sophomore collection for the house will bring. Are we going to continue to see easy wearable pieces or are we going to start seeing the urban edge of Public School starting to infuse?

Runway Report: Alexander Wang Spring 2016 RTW

Alexander Wang Spring 2016 RTW
Spring/Summer 2016 RTW marked the 10 year anniversary of the Alexander Wang label and for this collection we saw Alex go back to his street roots. I have always admired that Alex has never really stopped producing streetwear but he has refined it since the first collections. The Wang woman has grown with the brand and she is chicer but edgier than ever. This is one of those collections that I found really dark and heavy for a Spring collection, but I can tell you that this collection will sell and we will see it on the carpet. I think his time at Balenciaga has turned Alex Wang on to creating more red carpet looks. Kasia Struss strutted down the runway wearing a black leather fringe saddle inspired corset and white skirt, which I can't wait to see someone like Zoe Kravitz wearing on the red carpet, quickly turned into my favorite look.

Runway Report: Anna Sui Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Anna Sui Spring 2016 RTW
Anna Sui went of a cruise to the pacific tropics via the 1940s as the inspiration for her Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection. I am just happy that this collection didn't read like a fall collection. I have been weighed down with sweaters, heavy coats, and furs on a lot of the Spring 2016 runways and it makes me sad. I love that while a dark but bold and fun floral floaty color palette evoked the feeling of the era but still felt like it would fit in amongst the fun summer styles that we all love and covet. The opening sequin fringe look on Gigi Hadid was my favorite look in the collection as it really showed that 40s sailor pinup.

10 Best Looks From The 2015 Emmy Awards

Runway Report: Marchesa Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Marchesa Spring 2016 RTW
The opening look of the Marchesa Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection graced the Emmy Awards red carpet last night on the back of Julianne Hough (who was seated front row at this presentation) and she looked fantastic. I gotta say that I have been getting quite bored with Marchesa and just when I was ready to write off the brand Georgina Chapman & Karen Craig produced an absolutely amazing collection that left me breathless. Birds were definitely on the mind of the Marchesa duo as they created this collection and it translated quite well. With the rest of film festival season still ahead of us and awards season forever encroaching I am extremely hopeful that we will be seeing a whole lot more of this collection on the red carpet. The look that I am most looking forward to seeing on the red carpet is an orange ombre feathered and ruffled creation that will take someone with a lot of presence to be able to pull off (I'm really feeling it for Elizabeth Banks.)

Runway Report: Proenza Schouler Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Proenza Schouler SS16 RTW
I really don't know how the boys over at Proenza Schouler consistently out do themselves. The Fall/Winter 2015 collection was one that I loved like no other but Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez continue to wow. What was the inspiration for the Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection? A banana. Yes you read that right. A banana. They toyed around with the idea of things that peel away from a woman's body and they succeeded in translating their inspiration in a way that is in no way kitschy or tacky. What we got was a killer collection of chic separates, casual and cocktail dresses. I picked my favorite look by watching how beautifully the white button down eyelet dress with black straps that came second in the line up movie. This dress made me wish I was a woman so that I could rock the hell out of it on the sidewalk runway during New York Fashion Week.

Runway Report: Naeem Khan Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Naeem Khan SS16 RTW
Ellie Kemper was the first woman to snag a look from the Naeem Khan Spring 2016 RTW collection for the 2015 Emmy Awards which happened last night. The multicolored striped sequin gown was not what I expected was going to be the first look that we saw from this collection but Ellie looked stunning. If you really had to guess about what the inspiration behind the Naeem Khan Spring/Summer 2016 RTW was, it was Italian women and women of glamorous power. Grace Kelly (the glamorous power) and Sophia Loren (the Italian bombshell) were the two names that were brought up explicitly, as well as his wife, as the inspirations. The looks in this collection ranged in decade inspiration from the 50s to the 60s to the 70s. Each look that came down the runway was more glamorous than the last finishing with the most beautiful ball gowns (a la Giambattista Valli Couture.) The lilac bateau neckline ballgown a la Grace Kelly was my favorite look from the collection and I believe that it will make for an amazing red carpet moment. Ellie gave us our first glamorous red carpet look from this collection and I am sure that we will be seeing many many more.

Runway Repot: BOSS Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Boss Spring 2016 RTW
Jason Wu has been at the helm of BOSS for many seasons now and has brought the brand back from the brink of extinction. We have been seeing all of the red carpet cool girls (like Diane Kruger, Julianne Moore,& Jamie King) rocking the BOSS brand on the red carpet. None of the glam gowns that we see on the red carpet were featured in this collection just chic sportswear and some flirty cocktail dresses. I loved all of the fringe that accented pants, jackets, and dresses throughout the collection. When it came down to my favorite look in the collection I picked the second look in the collection which was a white cocktail dress with a plunging neckline featuring the collections signature fringe trim. Lupita Nyong'o was seated front row. Scoping out looks for her upcoming promo tour for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens?" I hope so.

Runway Report: Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Michael Kors SS16 RTW
Georgia O’Keeffe and a young Elsa Peretti were the muses that Michael Kors looked to as the inspiration for his Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection. I loved that this collection mixed feminine florals with chic utilitarian separates. I was surprised that there were so many glamorous looks in this collection that there was not a single gown in sight. I would love to see someone like Emily Blunt wearing a custom gown with the O'Keeffe inspired floral print. I gotta say that this collection does go down as one of the best of NYFW. This collection perfectly mixed high glamour and cool girl ease. My favorite look? The red floral chiffon maxi dress with its amazing billowing sleeves. I love a high glamour moment that meshes subtle wearability. I would kill for Olivia Wilde to wear that dress on the red carpet.

Runway Report: Coach Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Coach Spring 2016 RTW
Coach presented its first ever runway show during New York Fashion Week and I love this collection. I have loved what Stuart Vevers is doing to reinvent and bring Coach back from a long period where the brand was not regarded as a luxury brand. I am happy that Coach is back to creating not just accessories that cool girls want to own but clothing that they want to wear. I love each of the easy going bohemian looks that walked down the runway a NYFW. Each season we are seeing the brand get better and better and I am excited to see what Stuart will bring for Fall 2016.

Runway Report: Delpozo Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Delpozo Spring 2016 RTW
I honestly don't know what to write about the Delpozo Spring 2016 RTW collection. Creative director Josep Font was inspired by Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca and muse to Austrian painter Gustav Klimt, Emilie Floge. Josep wanted to create a sense of high fashion meets folklore, and I think that he succeeded quite well. There was plenty of avant garde volume, much loved by celebrity fans like Kiernan Shipka and Hilary Swank. I pray that the likes of Julianne Moore, Elizabeth Banks, Jena Malone, Kiernan Shipka, Cate Blanchett, & Keira Knightley all get their hands on the looks from these collections. Maybe we'll get our first look at the collection on the red carpet on the back of Kiernan Shipka at the Emmys, I would die if she wore the blue, black, & white tea length gown.

Runway Report: Milly Spring 2016 RTW

Milly Spring 2016 RTW
A lot of the Milly Spring 2016 RTW collection is just pretty clothes. There was not a whole lot in this collection that pushes boundaries or sets trends just pretty wearable clothes that a consumer can see and want to wear right off of the runway. We see so many brands show over the top clothing during their runway shows but when it comes to sales has a side collection that embodies the spirit and is more wearable. I don't know which I would rather see on the runways. I like when I see a brand like Milly just show what they want to sell to their consumer but I also like what brands like Alexander McQueen and Dolce & Gabbana do as well. I guess it is difficult to compare a contemporary label like Milly to McQueen or Dolce & Gabbana. I know many of the women in my life have seen this collection and can't wait to get their hands on it, and I don't blame them.

Runway Report: Alice + Olivia Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Alice + Olivia SS16 RTW
It was westward ho! for Stacy Bendet and Alice + Olivia Spring/Summer 2016 RTW. Usually Alice + Olivia usually ends up being a few looks featured in my NYFW round up, but there were so many great looks in this collection that I just had to give it it's own posting. From the duster vest with wide leg pants (my favorite look in the collection) to the denim skirt to the goddess inspired evening gowns paired with gladiator boots, this collection is just full of absolutely amazing pieces that are wardrobe essentials for budding fashionistas.

Runway Report: Tory Burch Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Tory Burch SS16 RTW
For Spring/Summer 2016 RTW Tory Burch took her girl on a trip around the world. We saw influences of many different cultures in the Tory Burch collection but yet there wasn't anything that looked like a direct reference. This made the collection just that much chicer. The Tory Burch girl has always been a fun feminine chic woman and that is still the case. We have saw many pretty collections on the runways during New York Fashion Week and this has to be one of my favorites. With so many pretty, and very wearable, looks it was hard to pick a favorite but I have to say that the army green shift top and shorts ensemble was among my favorites.

Runway Report: Monse Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Monse SS16 RTW
Former designers at Oscar de la Renta Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia launched their label Monse during New York Fashion Week in an intimate presentation. The men's button down shirt was the starting point for this collection and the sleeves and buttons graced many of the looks. I like how they took something that is so associated with masculinity and made it so feminine. The relaxed glamour of this collection makes it perfect for stars like Julianne Moore, Jessica Chastain, and Lady Gaga. I know that is an odd mix of names but I honestly can see each woman wearing at least one look from this collection. My favorite look from the collection was a cobalt blue strapless jumpsuit that had such wide legs that it mimicked a ball gown. This look is not for the faint of hart, it will definitely take a woman with lots of personality and presence to make that look work. I can picture it on Julianne Moore or Solange Knowles. I am looking forward to seeing what Kim & Garcia will continue to bring to the runways. Monse is definitely a brand to watch.

Runway Report: Oscar de la Renta Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Oscar de la Renta Spring 2016 RTW
Peter Copping started to peak through with the Oscar de la Renta Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection. We saw Peters love of modernity and ruffles peak through in a collection that was inspired by Spanish flair and history. The start of the collection was the color of the red carnation, a favorite flower of the founder. From there Copping started to research and found that red carnations were what was thrown into the arena to a matador after the end of a bull fight. Referencing the colors and the romanticism of Spanish matadors was a perfect springboard for this sophomore collection. There is a look for every woman within the Oscar de la Renta Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection. Be she an older sophisticated woman, a pop star, or a glamorous actress I think that there will be many red carpet moments that come from this collection, maybe we will get our first taste at tonight's Emmy Awards. With so many stunning creations it was hard for me to pick just one look as my favorite so I went with what I see as one of the gowns with the most glorious red carpet potential. The black and dusty rose patchwork lace strapless gown is one that I hope to see on Jessica Chastain at some point. This is the perfect mesh of sensuality and elegance and I know that this will make for a major red carpet moment no matter who gets their hands on it.

Runway Report: Sophie Theallet Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Sophie Theallet SS16 RTW
Africa. That was the starting place for Sophie Theallet Spring/Summer 2016 RTW. The models walked down the outdoor runway to the beat of a group of Senegalese drummers. We saw the African influences in materials and prints, the use of raffia in the collection was so elegantly done. This collection was a departure from her norm as we are used to seeing the designer refereencing lots of drapery and city women but here she took the tribal woman and gave her to the city girl. I was drawn to many of the different shilouettes in this collection and I think stylists will be to. I hope that Micaela Erlanger, the stylist for Lupita Nyong'o, grabs up at least one of the looks from this collection for the starlet. I must really be feeling halter necks for spring because my favorite look from this collection, that I would actualy love to see on Mrs Lupita, was the black and white halter neck draped gown. There is something about this gown that reads so tribal while being incredibly chic and uptown at the same time.

Runway Report: Lela Rose Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Lela Rose SS16 RTW
Are you in search of pretty florals for spring? (I can hear Miranda Priestly in my head saying "florals for spring? Groundbreaking.") Well then you need look no further than the Lela Rose Spring/Summer 2016 RTW. Lela has a woman. A chic sophisticated woman who is hyper feminine and love to embrace her femininity in her clothing. Her collection reflects that woman. Lela never produces a groundbreaking collection, just ones that women actually want to wear. We see her formula time and again and for some reason it is one that we never tire of. The 5th Avenue socialites and the ladies who lunch will be all over Lela Rose's Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection for many of their summer events. My favorite look? The yellow short sleeve crop top paired with the flowing pleated ball skirt. This is a perfect look for that midsummer nights ball.

Runway Report: Carolina Herrera Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Carolina Herrera SS16 RTW
It was a pretty in pink moment for Carolina Herrera who presented her Spring/Summer 2016 collection at The Frick Collection, the first ever runway show at the museum. Seated front row was Penelope Cruz right next to Anna Wintour. Penelope Cruz was an interesting choice because for Spring/Summer 2016 RTW we saw a transition in the Carolina Herrera woman. For Spring the Carolina Herrera girl is a young, but still sophisticated, young woman. She likes to have fun with fashion. Hell I have never seen Carolina Herrera create a crop top and she was a late adopter of the trend but does so with such elegance that one can picture the likes of Emmy Rossum or Lily Collins wearing it and looking classy and not young. I hope that we see some new ladies wearing Carolina Herrera because white Emmy and Lily would look amazing in this collection many of the women that we are used to seeing in Carolina Herrera, like Penelope, don't exactly fit what she presented.

Runway Report: Houghton Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Houghton SS16 RTW
It was all about the Summer of '69 for Katherine Polk as she designed the Houghton Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection. What I first thought of as white dress after white dress came down the runway was that this collection was going to read very bridal, and in someways it did, but some dark runs of navy and black as well as blush accents made the collection more wearable. Many people steer away from white because it is so hard to keep clean. If anyone invites you to a white party at the end of next summer go find one of these dresses from Houghton. My favorite look is tied between the black slip gown with slashed cutouts on the skirt and the completely large ruffled white gown. Both of these looks would make for amazing red carpet moments and I really do hope that we see them on a red carpet soon.

Runway Report: Rodarte Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Rodarte SS16 RTW
Rodarte Spring/Summer 2016 RTW was one of my absolute favorite collections shown during New York Fashion Week. They embodied the big trend of fall dressing for spring. It will be interesting to see how these clothes, especially the fur coats, will work their way into the Rodarte girls wardrobe for spring. There were many eras that I saw referenced in this collection. There was the 1970's Studio 54 disco glam, 20's flappers, & Victorian romance that all played factors in creating this stunning collection. If Vogue were to throw a chic Halloween gala, I would be clamouring to get my hands on this collection so that I could be the chicest flapper in the room. Aside from being great for costumes I can see that Rodarte devotees like Natalie Portman, Bella Heathcote, Keira Knightley, & Rooney Mara all have many looks that they can rock on the red carpet. Can we get Rooney in the black and white lace finale dress for something ASAP? As always it will take a very confident and eccentric woman to wear this Rodarte collection but what Kate and Laura Mulleavy have put together is just utter glamour and drama and I can't wait to see it on the red carpet.

Runway Report: Thakoon Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Thakoon SS16 RTW
For Spring/Summer 2016 RTW Thakoon Panichgul created what he called "New Bohemia." With a front row filled with women known for their eclectic tastes (Jessica Alba, Christina Ricci, & Bella Heathcote to name a few) there was a sense of that "New Bohemia" from the start. Tye-dyed, sun bleached denim, and 90s grunge were all part of where this idea of "New Bohemia" is going. I gotta say that breaking this collection down piece by piece it was an amazing collection and I can see everyone from the everyday woman grocery shopping to celebrities on the red carpet wearing this collection. Where a lot of designers have taken the 90s grunge reference and over styled many of their looks to feature so many pieces you don't know what to look at first, Thakoon stripped it down and made each look very light and airy. Not something you normally think of when referencing grunge. The speckled tie-dye long sleeve sheer chiffon midi gown with a cutout knot detail at the bodice and an open back was my favorite look in the collection. I get the full embodiment of the idea of "New Bohemia" with this look.

Runway Report: Prabal Gurung Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Prabal Gurung SS16 RTW
Prabal Gurung was inspired by the disastrous earthquake in his native home of Nepal for his Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection.  Prabal was not inspire by the devastation that was left in the wake of the natural disaster, but the spirit of the people. The show opened with a group of monks dressed in their traditional red and yellow robes chanting a prayer thanking all those in the fashion industry who helped Prabal raise money for the victims of the earthquake. The first look out was a white draped dress emblazoned with a thick orange and yellow brushstroke print that I have forever labeled the bacon dress. Once I realized exactly what the print was I was instantly in love. Each look that came down the runway was better than the last. I was really disappointed that more people didn't wear the Prabal Gurung Fall/Winter 2015 RTW collection, but I don't think that we are going to have a problem seeing any of this collection on the backs of celebrities on the red carpet. There are so many looks that are just screaming to be worn to film festivals, movie premieres, and awards shows. While my love for the now infamous bacon dress refuses to falter, my favorite look in the collection was the orange finale halter gown with its flowing layered chiffon skirt. Elizabeth Banks LOVES orange and the final promo tour for "The Hunger Games" saga is coming up, someone get this gown to her stat for one of the premieres!

Runway Report: Zac Posen Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Zac Posen SS16 RTW
Zac Posen showed his Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection to a front row filled with stars like Christina Hendricks (who was rumored to be shopping for her Emmy gown), Jennifer Hudson, and Amy Schumer. Zac wanted to show everyone that he is not just a Jamesian style designer, he wanted to show everyone that he has range. When I think of Zac Posen I do not think of ease and causal, in fact I think of quite the opposite, I think of high glamour and drama. While there were a few looks with that high glamour and drama most of the black, white, navy, and red collection was very toned down. There were many pieces that I can't see many women wearing. There were several pieces with what looked like terrible satin bras attached to them which people with larger bosom, like Christina Hendricks, would never be able to wear and not look larger than they already are. My favorite look in the collection came down to a Halston-esque black and white printed silk halter gown. I saw this dress move in a video on Instagram and it was so fluid and I fell in love. It was the first glimpse of the collection that I got, and needless to say I was rather let down when I finally was able to get a full look at the collection.

Runway Report: Tommy Hilfiger Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Tommy Hilfiger SS16 RTW
Grab your suitcases and pour yourself a Bahama Mama ladies because for Spring/Summer 2016 Tommy Hilfiger is taking you island hopping. I knew that this was going to be a bombass collection from the start. I was scrolling through Instagram and Jessica Michault, the Editor-in-Chief of NowFashion, posted a picture of the amazing tropical set. My love was further endured as each look took to  the runway. Light fabrics, homespun crochet, and netted mesh just added the island vibe that Tommy was going for, and quite successfully achieved. Each season Tommy gets better and better and I think that this collection really showed that he has range and it not just the "American Preppy" guy that he is expected to be. It was hard for me to pick a favorite look from this collection because I love this collection that much. I surprisingly ended up the emerald crochet monokini that had a multicolored stomach section, I mean what else is more perfect for a tropical vacation than a sexy bikini. You can actually shop the pink silk-blend lion bomber jacket worn by Hanne Gaby Olide on the runway right now on tommy.com, which is almost sold out only a size 4 left! I really can not get enough of this collection. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do!

Runway Report: Monique Lhuillier Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Monique Lhuillier SS16 RTW
Monique Lhuillier continues to outdo herself on the runways of New York Fashion Week. This collection is always a highlight for me. As a budding stylist I always watch Monique to see what celebrities will be wearing for their red carpet appearances. With the Emmy Awards just a week away I am sure that we will be seeing one of these looks on the red carpet. I personally want to see the pool blue strapless peplum top paired with cobalt pants to be worn by someone like January Jones on the Emmy Awards red carpet, but I could bet that won't be the case. Julia Louis-Dreyfus could pick up the gown with the cobalt lace top and white skirt or Julie Bowen could snatch the red peplum topped gown, both are very good possibilities. I honestly don't know what else to say about this collection. I have so much love for this collection that I don't even know what else to say. You will be seeing a lot of this collection on the blog in my wish lists.

Runway Report: Jill Stuart Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Jill Stuart SS16 RTW
For Spring 2016 Jill Stuart envisioned her clientelle being bubbly and engergetic party girls and that is exactly what came about in this 70s meets 90s collection. The show opened with my favorite look a lilac bandeau top paired with a pair of cream high waisted slashed flares. This is a perfect look for a young starlet who wants to be a fashion darling, I can picture Zendaya wearing this look. Every look presented was light and breezy with chiffon and shine on the menu for the fabrics. There was literally a look in the Jill Stuart SS16 collection for the cool girl to wear to any event that she could possibly imagine; from backyard barbecues to Studio 54.

Runway Report: Mara Hoffman Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Mara Hoffman SS16 RTW
Willie Nelson's "Blue Skies" was the starting point for Mara Hoffman's Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collection. While there were many pieces in the collection that I liked, I think that Mara went too far with her inspiration taking it far to literally and thus sending some of it into costume-y territory. My favorite look in the collection was the short sleeve cloud print shirt dress which I could see Miranda Kerr wearing while waltzing about New York City on her errands. Aside from that these are the types of looks that we are most likely going to be seeing on the fashionistas and celebrities that attend the Coachella Valley Music Festival next year.

Just last week I was rummaging through all of Altuzarra's past collections and I noticed a pattern of relaxed looks for spring and more tailored looks for fall and he definitely kept the pattern going. These are the types of looks that I would want to wear on vacation to the desert, I mean a very high class resort in the desert but still the desert. Usually I talk about how much I wanna see XYZ on the red carpet but while I know that this collection will show up on the red carpet I really wanna see style stars like Anna Wintour, Reese Witherspoon, & Rihanna rocking these looks on the sidewalks.

Runway Report: Christian Siriano Spring/Summer 2016 RTW

Christian Siriano SS16 RTW
Christian Siriano was really odd this season. He stared with a collection of mostly neutrals and finished with bright colored Halston-esque looks that almost seemed disconnected from the rest of the collection. Christian kept up the feeling of fall using lots of long sleeved silhouettes and lots of feathers. I usually get really excited over a Siriano collection but I felt like there was nothing here that I haven't seen before. There were looks I was able to equate to past Siriano collections refurbished, things that remind me of McQueen, and one of his gowns is almost a total ripoff of the Ashi Studio gown that Araya A. Hargate wore during Cannes. I will put this down to a wrinkle in a stunning legacy but I hope that Christian is back on top form for Fall/Winter 2016
