Last night Riccardo Tisci showcased a glorious Givenchy collection on Pier 59 in the shadow of the Freedom Tower in New York City to celebrate the re-opening of the Givenchy NYC flagship store. We usually see a few celebrities seated front row at a Givenchy show in Paris but the stars showed up in droves for the Spring/Summer 2016 presentation. There was the expected guests like Kim Kartashian & Kanye West (who were so annoyingly late that they held the show up an hour), Ciara & Julia Roberts (both former faces of Givenchy), & Naomi Campbell were also not surprisingly in attendance. We were graced with the presences Uma Thurman, Nicki Minaj, Liv & Steven Tyler (on a father/daughter night out), and Christina Ricci who were some of the more surprising guests of the night. I was surprised and saddened not to see Beyonce and Jay-Z not in attendance. The front row at the Givenchy Spring/Summer 2016 RTW presentation I think is only rivaled by the front row that Tom Ford was able to bring out for his Fall/Winter 2015 collection he presented in LA on the eve of the Academy Awards earlier this year. This leads me to ask: why are shows that are put up in locations that differ from their norm able to pull such large celebrity audiences>
