2016 People's Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

At the People's Choice Awards next Wednesday I am interested to see what Dakota Johnson will wear on the red carpet as she is nominated for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress thanks to 50 Shades of Grey and she is also going to be presenting. People's Choice is a more casual version of an awards show so I think that this black Michael Kors Spring 2016 RTW shirt dress embellished with neck ribbons and grommets on the tiered skirt. This is a casual meets cocktail type of look and with the right styling I think that this dress would be perfect on Dakota for the People's Choice Awards red carpet. Keeping the runways belt and adding a pair of strappy sandals, a slicked back bun, and a red lip would ensure that Dakota keeps up the love I have of her on the People's Choice red carpet.
After nabbing the number 2 spot on my Best Dressed of the Year list it would seem that Emmy Rossum has a lot to live up to in 2016 and I know that she can handle the pressure. I am hoping that the actress, who thanks to her show Shameless, is nominated for the Favorite Premium Cable TV Actress will take to the red carpet at the 2016 People's Choice Awards. To keep up her flirty feminine style what better look to choose than this Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall marigold and blush 3D guipure lace sleeveless dress. The moment I saw this dress in the lookbook I put it on reserve for Emmy so I really hope that she works her magic and gets her hands on this fantastic flirty dress. While I appreciate that Monique was trying to make this look more modern with the ankle boots, I would pair this look with a chic pair of simple gold sandals, a pink lip, and a gold metallic clutch to finish this look off perfectly for Emmy.
Like Dakota, Jennifer Lopez is nominated for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress at the People's Choice Awards next Wednesday. We all know JLo has a flair for the dramatic and the sexy and this Naeem Khan Spring 2016 RTW gunmetal grey beaded chiffon halter jumpsuit is exactly what she would wear for an event like this. I know many are looking for something new from Jennifer but I know that when she does what she knows best, at it's best, that she truly shines on the red carpet. I would have Jennifer wear hear hair sleek with this jumpsuit adding minimal accessories like a pair of metallic gunmetal grey Jimmy Choo sandals and a red lip to ensure that this is JLo at her best and nothing less.
Julianne Hough has been on a lot of red carpets recently and I do not know why, at the People's Choice Awards she will be attending as a presenter with her Grease: Live co-stars Vanessa Hudgens and Carly Rae Jepsen. I am hoping that the try hardness that came with most of her looks in 2015 will be absent on the red carpet at the People's Choice Awards. I picked this black and white floral printed J. Mendel Spring 2016 RTW ensemble that consists of a chiffon micro-pleated blouse and mini skirt. This is the perfect look to help Julianne kick off 2016 in the right way, it is chic and simple and perfectly event appropriate. A pair of silver pumps or sandals and a silver Edie Parker clutch would be the perfect accessories to add to this look with chic simple curls and a pink lip to ensure that Julianne has a magical moment on the red carpet.
Kate Hudson will be on hand at the 2016 People's Choice Awards as a presenter. This news was very exciting to me because Kate had a GREAT year on the red carpet in 2015 and I am excited to see what 2016 will bring to her. I decided to pair Kate with the brand that landed her on the 2015 Best Dressed of the Year list for this red carpet, Versace. I think that since that Kate is a big movie star and not overly showy that this Versace Pre-Fall 2016 black pencil dress with detailed top which has a bit of sky blue in the featured spaghetti straps. This is the chic sexy look that I know Kate has the body and presence for. Finished with a pair of sky blue Jimmy Choo pumps, a black clutch, and a lightly smokey eye will finish this look off perfectly for this red carpet.

2016 People's Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The People's Choice Awards is the second awards show of 2016 setting off on January 6, 2016. The dress at People's Choice is usually all over the place with looks ranging from jeans and t-shirts to evening gowns and off the rack purchases to haute couture, so it makes for a fun evening seeing all the different types of looks that grace the red carpet. ABC's Blood and Oil's Amber Valetta is one of the confirmed stars to take to the red carpet at the People's Choice Awards. I was really excited to find out that Amber was transitioning from modeling into TV and was hoping that would mean some amazing red carpet moments, that hasn't happened as of yet but I am always hopeful that it will turn around. With Balmain being everywhere & getting more and more tacky by each new collection I am almost fatigued but this almost sexy tuxedo inspired ensemble from the Balmain Spring 2016 RTW collection is one that I really want to see on a red carpet. I believe that with her supermodel presence that Amber would rock the hell out of this number on the red carpet, giving her a sultry sexy major moment to kick off 2016. Finished with a sleek hairstyle, a red lip, & black Christian Louboutin pumps & this look would make for a great kickoff to the People's Choice Awards red carpet.
Anna Kendrick is nominated at the 2016 People's Choice Awards for Best Comedic Actress thanks to her work in Pitch Perfect 2. Anna had a rather boring year on the red carpet in 2015 so I am hoping that she will make a come back in 2016. I picked this black Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2016 ensemble for Anna to wear for the People's Choice Awards because I think that this is a chic yet subtle and sophisticated way to start her getting back on her feet. Amp up the look with a pair of statement Jimmy Choo sandals and a pair of diamond studs to ensure that Anna kills the red carpet.
One person who I am really excited to hopefully see on the red carpet at the People's Choice Awards next Wednesday is Blake Lively, who is nominated for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress thanks to The Age of Adeline. I was not a fan of the actual movie but I love seeing Blake on the red carpet so I hope she steps out (especially since she hasn't been on a red carpet since promoting the movie earlier this year.) I would love to see Blake wear a version of this Gucci Spring 2016 RTW dress. I love this teal blue sequin dress with it's almost comic boom detailing. I think a shorter version with no rosette at the neck would make for a perfect look for Blake for this red carpet. Paired with a sleek pony tail, a pink lip, and a pair of silver Christian Louboutin pumps this look would be a major moment for Blake at the People's Choice Awards.
After killer promotional tours for Paper Towns and Pan I am really excited to see what Cara Delevinge will pop up in on the red carpet at the People's Choice Awards, if she attends. Cara is nominated for the The DailyMail.com Seriously Popular award and I could totally picture the supermodel, whom has a major fan base, winning this type of award. Some of my favorite looks from Cara have come thanks to Alexandre Vauthier and this gold sequined Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2016 RTW ensemble. This sexy ensemble is something that I could picture Cara snatching up and rocking on the red carpet of the People's Choice Awards. This look would be perfectly styled with a pair of gold Christian Louboutin sandals and hair worn in Cara's signature waves.
Charlize Theron is probably one of the women that I am most excited to see take to the red carpet during awards season. Charlize is one of my favorite actresses to see on the red carpet as she just exudes glamour. While she is contractually obligated to wear Dior on the red carpet at the big events, like the Golden Globes or the Oscars, I get excited to see what else she will bring to these types of events. At the People's Choice Awards Charlize is nominated for Favorite Action Movie Actress thanks to Mad Max: Fury Road, and I am really hoping that she will make an appearance. For this red carpet I think that this sexy Anthony Vaccarello Spring 2016 RTW asymmetrical cocktail dress which has a very borrowed from the boys type look. This dress is masculine and sexy which is something we have not seen from Charlize in a very long time. A pair of black Christian Louboutin sandals, a white Dior clutch, and a red lip would ensure that this look is sleek and sexy.
After 2015 I think Ciara is becoming like Leslie Mann or Heidi Klum and inserting herself on any red carpet that she can. At the 2016 People's Choice Awards Ciara will be on the red carpet as she is nominated for Favorite R&B Artist. I didn't even know Ciara had released new music so I guess it tells you how much I follow her. For this res carpet I would love to see Ciara in this black Vera Wang Spring 2016 RTW ensemble. I think that this crop top and feather embellished pencil skirt would make for a perfect look for Ciara. She has been wearing a lot of edgy black ensembles and this would probably take the cake on all of them. A pair of the red to black ombre Christian Louboutin "Hot Chick" pointed toe pumps, sleek slicked back hair, and a red lip would ensure that Ciara has a major all black moment on the red carpet at the People's Choice Awards.

2016 Palm Spring Film Festival Awards Gala Wish List Part 2

It's either dark or light when Rooney Mara takes to the red carpet and I am hoping that on January 2, 2016 when she steps out for the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala that Rooney chooses to go light. I have started to get bored of seeing Rooney in all back on the red carpet aand I would like to see her shake it up a little over the course of the 2016 awards season. When she steps out at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala to accept her Spotlight Award for her work in "Carol," I would love to see Rooney wearing this white Balenciaga Spring 2016 RTW spaghetti strap midi cocktail dress. This is a minimalistic look that I could 100% picture Rooney wearing on the red carpet. I don't see Rooney wearing gowns for anything but the big televised awards show. This look finished with a slicked back tight bun, a red lip, and a pair of nude sandals would be finished off with Rooney's signature simplistic glamour.
One person that I am quite intrigued to see how she will handle the red carpets of awards season is Saoirse Ronan, who hasn't done an awards season tour since she was 14 for Atonement. This year the actress, now 21, is garnering nominations thanks to her work in the film Brooklyn. At the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala Saoirse is going to be honored with the International Star Award. The Irish actress is known on the fashion scene as someone who takes some risks and I am hoping that she keeps it up and doesn't let the pressures of conforming to Hollywood on her way to the Oscars. For this red carpet I would love to see Saoirse wearing this baby pink and black feathered strapless Chanel Fall 2015 Couture dress. I think that this gown is so classic Chanel and I think that this gown would balance Hollywood and edge perfectly for Saoirse. I would finish this a simple pair of black sandals and a chic updo and a light pink lip to help Saoirse kick off awards season in style.

2016 Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala Wish List Part 1

It was a quick holiday break but I am already back and ready to start bringing you all my red carpet wish lists for all the events that will kick off at the beginning of 2016. Awards season officially kicks of just after the turn on the new year on January 2, 2016 with the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala. Each year the Palm Springs Film Festival honors some of the best of the best from the film world from the year before and this year there is an amazing line up of honorees. Alicia Vikander has been announced as the recipient of of the Rising Star Award and I cannot wait to see what she will wear for the red carpet. I am hoping that 2016 doesn't see Alicia wearing Louis Vuitton to every red carpet event as the looks can get very state (even if Alicia is the best LV ambassador). For this red carpet I would love to see Alicia wear this black Versace Pre-Fall 2016 gown which incorporates sheer sleeves and abstract embellishments. Minimalistic with a hint of sparkle, something that I am always in the mood for. Hair worn slicked back with a lightly lined eye and a red lip would add the perfect beauty touches for this look, add a black Louis Vuitton clutch and some black sandals and this look would be completely perfect head to toe.
Amber Heard will most likely be on the red carpet at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala on the arm of her hubby Johnny Depp who will be receiving the Desert Palm Achievement Award thanks to his amazing work in Black Mass. I have been loving seeing Amber head back to sexy glamour after a while of wearing things that were really too voluminous on her. I love it when Amber really shows her bombshell side so as a plus one I picked this black Balenciaga Resort 2016 peplum midi dress. I think that this cocktail dress is absolutely unbelievably chic and Amber would breath the right kind of Marylin Monroe sexy into this look. Finished with a pair of black pumps, old Hollywood waves, and a red lip and Amber will start her campaign to be the Best Plus One in 2016.
Her performance in Room has earned Brie Larson the Breakthrough Performance Award at the 2016 Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala. Brie has just in the past year started to capture my attention with some of her looks for the right reasons. I tend to like seeing Brie in simple classic type of looks as she doesn't have the personality for things that are very complicated. For this red carpet I picked this red Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2015 Alta Moda off the shoulder pencil dress. This is such a classic look that I think that Brie would just sizzle in. Not many people get lucky enough to wear Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda, and Brie already has (for the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and the 2015 Met Gala). I would finish off this look with a pair of simple red sandals and an red Edie Parker clutch and a sleek hairstyle to ensure that Brie continues to work the red carpet.
Over the past year I have been struggling to keep my love of Cate Blanchett alive. It has been up and down and I am hoping that through awards season that she falls back into my good graces. Her first chance will be at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala where she is going to be honored with the Desert Palm Achievement Award for her work in the film Carol. I would absolutely drop dead if Cate showed up wearing this Altuzarra Pre-Fall 2016 gown which features a pailette embellished bodice and a simple black skirt. This is a little more edgy than what Cate usually wears but I think that this gown is something that she would look absolutely stunning in. A black Edie Parker clutch, a pair of black pumps, a chic up do and a red lip would finish this look off perfectly for this red carpet.

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed of 2015

First off I would like to wish all of my readers a very Merry Christmas. I hope everyone is spending the day with family and enjoying the day. On this day of celebration and gift giving I am gifting to all of you a host of beautiful women in my Best Dressed of the Year list. Taking the top spot is Lea Seydoux in custom bright sunshine yellow Prada at the 2015 BAFTA Awards. This was a major moment that made my jaw drop the moment I saw it. For the most part I was very disappointed in the BAFTA red carpet as there was nothing all that interesting until Lea showed up. This dramatic yet extremely elegant gown is one of the best things that Prada has ever put on the red carpet. It was however hard to choose between Lea's looks as they have all been amazing this year. I am excited to continue to see Lea be embraced by mainstream films because I want to see her on more big promo tour red carpets.
Following closely to Lea is Emmy Rossum who exuded lady like elegance at the The New York Botanical Garden's annual Conservatory Ball wearing a beautiful water inspired Carolina Herrera Fall 2015 RTW. If Lea and Prada weren't such a match made in heaven this would have been my number one look of the year. Everything about this look exudes chicness, from the diamond drop earrings to the sweeping updo, and the red lip. This will be a look that will rank in Emmy's record books for many years to come.

Sonam Kapoor is a stunning spokesmodel for L'Oreal Paris in India. Before she got her hands on this contract I had no idea who she was but slowly over the years she has been taking the Cannes Film Festival by storm and I have been loving more and more of her looks. This year I fell in love with this stunning Ashi Studio couture gown that Sonam wore for the L’Oreal Paris ‘Matte or Gloss’ Cannes Collection Launch prior to this years festival. The sculptural-ness of this gown made me absolutely fall in love with it. This gown is so unique in it's shape that most would end up being overwhelmed, and Sonam worked it like it owed her back rent.

Kerry Washington stepped out for the 2015 Emmy Awards and she worked the hell out of this Marc Jacobs Spring 2016 RTW completely embellished cocktail dress. Kerry broke standard awards show dress code rules by showing up in a short dress. While I would have been even more in love with this as a gown I applaud Kerry for stepping out of the standard box and going with a look from my favorite Spring 2016 RTW collection. This collection was made for adventurous spirits like Kerry. Oh and on a side note, Kerry is the only woman to make an appearance on both this years Best and Worst Dressed lists.
Kate Hudson and Atelier Versace has always been a match made in heaven. This white gown embellished with swarovski crystals and its plunging neckline has been on my mind all year. As I think back on all of my favorite moments that Kate Hudson has had on the red carpet almost all of them that come to mind immediately have been in white. What I love about this look is that while everything about this look on paper should read cheap, tacky, pageant dress but on Kate it is chic, demure with the right amount of sexy.

How to do you go out with a bang? Just look at Elizabeth Banks who kicked off the final promo tour for the Hunger Games series with Mockingjay Part 2 in grand style wearing an Elie Saab Fall 2015 Couture floral ball gown at the films world premiere in Berlin. This is a beautiful princess moment that I can picture her character, Effie Trinkett, being quite proud of. It may not have been the Atelier Versace moment that I was expecting but it is even more spectacular than what I was expecting.

I always have one street style look on the list. I am always one of the people who loves a great moment of personal style. Lupita Nyong'o was spotted leaving The View wearing a dress from the BOSS Fall 2015 RTW dress that she paired with a matching blazer, a grey BOSS "Bespoke" handbag, red suede pointed toe pumps, and a pair of black sunglasses. This is an edgy feminine version of a power suit that I immediately fell for. If you are looking for inspiration for hot work wear this is exactly what you should be using as inspiration.
Julianne Moore had an amazing year and it really was hard picking a favorite look of her's to feature on the Best Dressed of the Year list. With all kinds of custom gowns from Chanel and Givenchy it was surprising to me that my favorite look from the stunning redhead was her all black Armani Prive gown worn to the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony. I love a redhead in black and Julianne pulled off this stunning gown embellished with crystals and feathers. I think it was the feathers, and the emerald Chopard earrings, that made me really love this gown. I am a sucker for feathers. Sleek hair and a perfectly executed smokey eye finished this look to perfection.

Lily James's rise to fashion stardom was paved with princess dresses from the likes of Dior and Elie Saab but it was her sleek modern icy grey/blue custom Balenciaga gown with brass buttons at the "Cinderella" premiere in London. For almost all the premieres it was ball gowns so I was very happy to see Lily change it up with this look. I love how she kept the styling simple adding sleek slicked back hair, a lined eye, and pink pout. This is how you do modern Cinderella. Lily at the end of the year cut her hair and dyed it dark and it's almost like she lost her mojo. I am hoping that she returns to top form in 2016, because this type of moment is one that is forever needed.

Finally I picked Blake Lively in her stunning red Monique Lhuillier Fall 2012 RTW gown at the New York premiere of her film "The Age of Adeline." The promo tour for this film was so much better than the movie and honestly she might have been a little overdressed for the occasion. Blake gave us sexy Marilyn bombshell in this dress which fused ruffles, lace, leather, and volume. The old Hollywood waves, Lorraine Schwartz diamond ear clips added to the high glamour of the look and a Judith Leiber "Koi Fish" swarovski crystal clutch added a quirky fun touch to ensure that Blake sizzled down the carpet.

It was a hard job taking over 1,300 red carpet looks and narrowing it down to 10 looks. It is a daunting task but someone has to do it. I want to take this moment to thank all of you for helping me have a wonderful year with If I Was A Stylist. 2016 starts a new chapter on my personal journey as for the first time I don't have any school to attend. I am going to work on balancing work life, with blogging and still having time for friends and family. I am formulating some new features for the blog based on things I want to add and things that I have been getting back in my feedback. If you haven't taken my survey please do. It is only 6 questions that help me give you guys what you most want to see. All the feedback I get helps me make your experience on this site more enjoyable. Awards season posts will start on Monday so I am excited to show all of you my wishes.

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed Man

When I am asked who I look to for my style inspiration the first name that I list off is Eddie Redmayne. This man has the best sense of style in all of Hollywood. We saw him tone down his style to dark navy and black tuxedos at the beginning of the year while he was campaigning for his Oscar that he ultimately won for The Theory of Everything, but he started to be the Eddie that I came to love at the end of the year. I am hoping that due to the subject nature of his latest film, The Danish Girl, I am hoping that Eddie will not have to tone down his signature bold style for the red carpets while he campaigns for Oscar number two. Here's to Eddie taking home this award for the third time in a row and to hoping that he is able to make it four next year.

I am currently looking for feedback from my readers if you wouldn't mind taking a quick six question survey I would be greatly appreciative of that, you can take it by clicking here.

2015 End of the Year Style Awards: Worst Dressed of 2015

It has come to the time of the year where I really don't enjoy looking back. For the most part 2015 was an amazing year on the red carpet but there were quite a few looks that made me cringe when I saw them. The most painful look I saw on the red carpet this year was when Jane Fonda stepped out on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival wearing a custom Schiaparelli Couture gown for the premiere of her film "Youth." This looked like a cheap Victorian vampire costume and aged Jane many years right away. I couldn't grasp why she looked so terrible since days before Jane was sizzling in an electric blue Atelier Versace gown. The rest of Jane's promotional tour for "Youth" wasn't my favorite but she definitely has some high hope to look up to during awards season.
What would a worst dressed list be without an appearance of Kristen Stewart. I was actually surprised that she showed up in this froufrou satin and lace Chanel Fall 2015 Couture gown on the Venice Film Festival red carpet of her film "Equals." There were actually quite a few looks from that Chanel collection that I would have liked to see KStew wearing. She was further let down by the terribly aging hair and makeup that she paired with her dress.

Another staple of the Worst Dressed list has to be Kim Kardashian-West. I dislike this woman immensely so I might be a little biased but when I first saw this Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2015 Couture gown on the runway I was so excited to see who would snatch it up as it was a glam Studio 54 moment waiting to happen on the likes of Lady Gaga or Rihanna but when Kim got her hands on it she just looked like she was wearing an overly embellished bathrobe. I should sing praised that she wasn't making the dress bulge from the seams like most of her looks that make her look like a stuffed sausage but this really was just a terrible moment.

Probably the most controversial tweet I posted this year was in regards to this canary yellow Atelier Versace Fall 2015 Couture gown that Heidi Klum wore to the 2015 Emmy Awards. I tweeted this look out and said that I wished that Heidi would choose more age appropriate looks. The hate I got back calling me and ageist and a sexist was strong. I will now defend myself. When I saw this look on the runway I was in love; I was picturing a young pop star like Selena Gomez or Taylor Swift wearing this for a music awards show. So color me shocked when Heidi Klum showed up on the Emmy Awards red carpet in it. I found this look to be aging and severely unflattering. That is why she is towards the top of my Worst Dressed of 2015 list.
Britney Spears looked back into her closet from her early years for the style that she wore to the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. I don't even know where to start without how bad this look is. First off let's start with the fit, she looks like a 2lb sausage stuffed into a 1lb shell. Her breasts look like they are screaming to be supported correctly and not to be crushed. Then there is the dated style, if this had been on any of the current pop stars on a stage I don't think I would be having a problem with it but its too short and it looks like a Vegas showgirl costume. The shoes look like cheap prom shoes and the hair and makeup are basic and greasy and aging. All around this is a terrible look.

Following that is Selena Gomez who showed up at a private dinner party at Annabel's in London wearing a Monse Spring 2016 RTW gown that reminded me of very luxe nightgown. I think that this gown could have been great on someone like Rihanna or Ciara or Lady Gaga. These women all have something that Selena doesn't a sexy confidence and sense of diva attitude that is brought to the red carpet. I think that this gown lost all of the luster that it had on the runway on the back of Selena who should go back to Versace as she and Donatella made amazing magic when they were working together.

Solange Knowles was the in-house DJ at the Academy Awards this year. When I heard that she was going to be walking the red carpet I got very excited as Solange usually wears the most amazing clothes, so I was really disappointed when she showed up wearing this tangerine Christian Siriano Fall 2015 RTW gown top and palazzo pants. This look, much like Selena's gown, reminds me of luxurious pajamas. This look was further let down by having the worst hairstyle. To even remotely taking this look to a decent place Solange's hair needed to be sleek in a tight bun.
Moving on to the final group of ladies on the Worst dressed of the Year list. Salma Hayek stepped out on the red carpet at the London Evening Standard Theater Awards putting her breasts on display in an Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2013 gown. Her twins were on full display framed with a dust ruffle. There are only a few women who I could picture pulling this type of look off and they are all very tall women, which Salma is not.

Music Awards shows are usually the source of really bad looks but I can't believe that I have one from all tree of the major awards. I was uber excited to know that Gwen Stefani was going to be walking the red carpet at the American Music Awards but my heart sunk when I saw her in this Yousef Al-Jasmi Spring 2016 Couture black mesh gown. The gown itself isn't terrible but Gwen definitely can do so much better. The look was further let down with the half up/half down hairstyle, heavy cat eye, and nude lip. Gwen has so much potential and this just did nothing to showcase that.

Last but not lease we have Glinda the Good Witch wearing custom Prada on the red carpet at the Met Ball, Kerry Washington. It really pains me to put Kerry on the Worst Dressed list as she is one of my favorite women to see on the red carpet but this pink cupcake just made the 5 foot 4 inch actress look even more petite than the actually is. The emerald green shoes and clutch just added to the feeling that this is a reject costume from The Wizard of OZ.

2015 has been a great year on the red carpet but these are definitely the dark side of what was there, make sure you check back on Friday to see the Best Dressed of the Year list.

I am currently looking for feedback from my readers if you wouldn't mind taking a quick six question survey I would be greatly appreciative of that, you can take it by clicking here.
