Dakota Johnson was the epitome of boho chic meets Studio 54 glamour at the New York City premiere of How To Be Single wearing custom Saint Laurent. I will be the first to say that I have not been the biggest fan of Dakota's red carpet styling but recently she has been hitting her mark every single time that she steps out on the red carpet. This nude Saint Laurent gown embellished with silver stars just made me smile. Everything about this look was absolutely perfect, from the pulled back waves and the soft browns of her makeup to the Fred Leighton rings and Judith Leiber clutch. I continue to enjoy seeing Dakota on the red carpet and I hope that she just keeps getting better.

2016 Berlin International Film Festival: "Midnight Special" Premiere Red Carpet Wish List
Kirsten Dunst sadly skipped out on the 2016 SAG Awards and I am really hoping that she doesn't skip the Berlin International Film Festival premiere of her film "Midnight Special." I have a love of Kirsten's style but she has been a little more relaxed since she has been on television. I would love to see Kirsten take to the red carpet in Berlin wearing this white Chanel Spring 2016 Couture embroidered and fringe gown which features golden embroidery on the neckline. Not many women could have the red carpet presence to make this gown work on the red carpet and Kirsten can toe the line. Where she could let this gown down is with the styling. Kirsten loves a black pump and there should be no black pumps anywhere near this dress. A pair of gold pumps, a light smokey lined eye, a red lip, and her bob styled with chic vintage inspired waves would be the perfect styling to ensure that Kirsten has a killer red carpet look on the Berlin Film Festival red carpet.
I dug into the Elie Saab archives for today's wish for Berlin International Film Festival International Jury president Meryl Streep. I am really hoping that Berlin is going to showcase all of Meryl's new found sartorial style. I am anxiously awaiting all of her looks over the festival, which is something new because I never really cared for her before. I think that this dove grey Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture long sleeved embellished bodice gown with a flowing chiffon skirt would make for a beautiful red carpet moment for Meryl. The downside of this look is that Meryl might not like the plunging open back of this gown. We tend to see Meryl very covered up with more of a plunge in the front than in the back but I think that she would personify glamour in this gown. A silver clutch, a pair of silver satin pump, and diamond cluster earrings would just add the perfect finishing touches.

Perfect Plus One: Amal Clooney in Giambattista Valli Couture at the "Hail, Caasar!" LA Premeire
Last night in LA was the premiere of "Hail, Caesar!"and while glamizon stars like Scarlett Johansson and Tilda Swinton skipped the red carpet there was no lack of glamour thanks to the plus one's Jenna Dewan Tatum (who wore Ralph & Russo Fall 2015 Couture) and Amal Clooney. Amal showed my why I named her the Best Plus One in my End of the Year Awards wearing a cute, fun, & flirty Giambattista Valli Haute Couture cocktail dress to stand by her husband George on his big night. On most I would say that this dress would be more suited to the younger stars like Emma Stone or Natalie Portman but I think that Amal takes the twee out of this look and just gives me pure sophistication. George is lucky to have such a perfect woman as his wife. Amal shows women that you can be confident, beautiful, stylish, powerful, and smart all at the same time and I think that is part of her draw for me. I love a stylish powerful woman and Amal embodies that idea perfectly.
2016 Berlin International Film Festival: "Genius" Red Carpet Premiere Wish List
Nicole Kidman has been on a roller coaster of looks recently. Her custom Gucci gown at the SAG Awards was a total disaster as it was way too young for her, give it to Dakota Johnson or Elle Fanning and I would have been hailing this as a triumph but sadly on Nicole it was to young. For Nicole's premiere of Genius at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival I would love to see her wearing this grey Elie Saab Spring 2016 Couture tiered beaded gown which also includes a chic embroidered bolero jacket. Nicole Kidman has a very classic glamour about her and this gown would just enhance her regal style. Nicole doesn't need big ball gowns or trailing trains to bring an impact on the red carpet and this gown would just punctuate that. I would love to see her pair this gown with dyed to match grey satin Roger Vivier sandals, a pair of cluster Tiffany & Co. diamond earrings, a chic updo, and a red lip to just finish this regal look off extremely elegantly.
As I have said I don't know how many times Berlin International Film Festival International Jury president Meryl Streep will actually step out on the red carpet during the festival. I have been starting to take notice of Meryl's style as of late and I am intrigued to see what she is going to wear on the red carpets during Berlin. I would love to see Meryl wearing this black, white, & red Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2016 ball gown which features an a-line silhouette with a bateau neckline, a variegated striped bodice, and a full gathered skirt. I think that this more relaxed high glamour look is something that Meryl loves and while she doesn't usually go for a lot of volume when picking her red carpet looks, but I think that this kind of sailor stripe look mixed with the ball gown silhouette would make for a major red carpet moment. Keep this look simple with chic up-swept hair, a pink lip, black pumps, and a black clutch to ensure that Meryl continues to shine on the red carpet.
You Better Werk!: Suki Waterhouse in Reem Acra at the "Pride, Predjudice, & Zombies" London Premiere
It has been a really long time since I have actually loved anything that Suki Waterhouse has worn on a red carpet but yesterday when she stepped out for the Pride, Prejudice, & Zombies premier in London my breath was taken away. Suki looked all the parts of a movie star walking the red carpet wearing this stunning Reem Acra Spring 2016 RTW gown. Suki was competing fashion darling Lily James who was also on the carpet and a relative unknown who showed up wearing Chanel Pre-Fall 2015 and still came out on top. I was not a huge fan of this Reem Acra collection on the runway but on Suki I am getting supermodel turned movie star glamizon diva realness and I am sure that I will be thinking of this gown when it comes time to do my Best Dressed of February post, and maybe even my Best Dressed of the Year list.

Best Dressed of January 2016
Well we have the first Best Dressed list for a month. Just as a friendly reminder I don't include the major red carpets that I cover in different capacities over the blog, like the Golden Globe or SAG Awards, so that I can allow for some of the other beautiful looks that grace red carpets around the world. Topping the Best Dressed of January list is Dakota Johnson who was so flirty and feminine on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon wearing a Gucci Spring 2016 RTW cocktail dress. I have been on one side or the other but I finally believe that Dakota Johnson is finding her red carpet footing on the red carpet and I am starting to love her almost every time that she steps out. This was the look that firmly cemented her in my one to watch podium.
When Awards Season 2016 kicked off at the Palm Springs International Awards Gala I was very taken by Cate Blanchett in her custom Marc Jacobs gown. I found this vintage inspired gown to be something that Cate was absolutely enchanting wearing. Since then I have been very let down by Cate and I am hoping that she gets back on her red carpet footing before the Academy Awards at the end of this month.
Jourdan Dunn earns her first post on the blog in a coveted Best Dressed spot thanks to her absolutely beautiful Burberry look that she wore to sit front row at the Burberry Fall 2016 Menswear presentation. I love everything about this look from the fur vest to the olive shirt dress to the strappy Burberry sandals and the absolutely stunning hair and makeup. Sometimes front row fashions can go too over the top but this look feels authentic to Jourdan's personal style.
Last year through awards season Rosamund Pike really didn't wow me but I was finally blown away by one of her look with this sizzling crimson Azzedine Alaia gown which she wore to the IWC 'Come Fly with us' Gala Dinner. This gown mixed chic sex appeal with classic glamour. I am usually not a fan of Alaia on the red carpet but this gown was one of the absolutely best Alaia moments on the red carpet ever.
Alicia Vikander has been consistently showing up on the red carpets this awards season looking absolutely fabulous. While her Golden Globes and SAG Awards gowns might have been dictated to be Louis Vuitton based on her contract Alicia strays from the brand for some of the smaller red carpet parties. For the W Magazine celebration of the 'Best Performances' Portfolio and The Golden Globes Alicia wore a stunning Marc Jacobs Resort 2016 abstract floral print cocktail dress. I love that Alicia gives me a varied number of different styles of looks so it was hard picking which of her looks was going to feature on this list and this Marc Jacobs dress just took the cake.
The People's Choice Awards are usually a more laid back and and casual event so when major movie star Kate Hudson stepped out I was extremely intrigued to see what she was going to be wearing. The strapless ivory Stella McCartney tuxedo inspired jumpsuit that she wore for the red carpet was something that really spoke to me. I love to see Kate in these relaxed high glam type of looks as her boho glam type of style really shows through in this type of look.
December was really a great month for Star Wars: The Force Awakens breakout star Daisy Ridley and I actually made an exception to add this stunning purple Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2016 floral gown which she wore to the films premiere in Tokyo as she wore it after my Best Dressed of the Year list was posted but still before the first of the year. Daisy has already cemented her fashionista credentials by wearing looks from coveted brands like Chanel, Dior and Giambattista Valli but it was this complicated gown that I only pictured Diane Kruger pulling off that really made Daisy the "It" girl for me. I am kinda hoping that she gets the call to present at the Oscars.
Tessa Thompson knows exactly what to do to blow me away for a major movie premiere. She took one of my favorite gowns from the Marc Jacobs Spring 2016 RTW collection and went all old Hollywood with the styling letting the abstract gown do all of the talking for the London premiere of Creed. I had high expectations for Tessa for this premiere and she definitely did not let me down.
The addition of Diane Kruger to this list for her stunning Giambattista Valli Spring 2015 Couture cocktail dress worn to the Sidaction Gala might be a little self serving because I posted a prediction just the day before that she would wear this on the red carpet on Pinterest and I love when my wishes come true. Diane always knows how to work a more complicated look and this definitely could have gone in a bad direction but her classic styling with pulled back waves, red lip, silver clutch, and strappy Giambattista Valli sandals just ensured that this was a stunning look on Diane.
I welcome Gigi Hadid to the ranks of women who have made it to my Best Dressed list with her wearing one of my favorite looks from the Sally Lapointe Pre-Fall 2016 collection for the 'The Power Of Colors' MAYBELLINE New York Make-Up Runway show. As it was an event for Maybelline, which Gigi is a face of, her hair and makeup were on point and I do not begrudge her pointed pumps with the feathered details of the gown. Gigi took this complicated gown and wore it with such ease that it was simple for me to award her a spot on this list.
Who was your best dressed? You can see all the looks that I considered for this list over on my Facebook page, and I would love to know who is on your list.
2016 Berlin International Film Festival: "Chi-Raq" Premiere Red Carpet Wish List
The social justice film Chi-Raq will be one of the films getting a gala premiere out of competition at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival, which kicks off next week. I do not know if Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson will be in attendance at the films big premiere since she is currently performing every night on Broadway in The Color Purple. If she does make the journey to Berlin I would love to see Jennifer wearing this ivory Marchesa Pre-Fall 2016 which is rendered in stretch crepe and features a sheath silhouette with a jewel
neckline, gold beaded appliques along the bodice with illusion cutouts. I think that this gown would look absolutely amazing on this red carpet as Jennifer as been working a lot of edgy glam looks on the red carpet in the past year. I would finish this look with an Emm Kuo 'Nam Hai' peach and gold clutch which is made up of mother of pearl, brass, and oyster shell, a pair of gold Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, and a red lip to ensure that Jennifer has an absolutely amazing red carpet moment at the Berlin Film Festival.
Teyonah Parris has earned her star from playing the first major African-American character on the hit television series Mad Men. Since the conclusion of the show Teyonah has been working on a lot of social justice themed film with Chi-Raq being the latest. I am imagining that Teyonah will be the fashion plate at the films premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival as she has been getting quite a bit love from the fashion community. For this red carpet I would love to see Teyonah wearing this icy lilac Zuhair Murad Spring 2016 Couture strapless corseted ball gown. Teyonah is not afraid to wear big gowns but has not yet worn couture on the red carpet, and what better platform than a major film festival to don her first couture gown? Finish this look with a chic updo, a pair of dazzling diamond drop earrings, a silver clutch, and a pair of silver sandals and this look will be sexy and enchanting for Teyonah on the Berlin Film Festival red carpet.
Meryl Streep has been growing in her red carpet style over the past year but I am not so sure that Meryl will make many appearances on the red carpet during the Berlin International Film Festival. Meryl is the president of this years International jury and I am quite intrigued to see what she will be wearing when she does actually step out on the red carpet. I would love to see Meryl wearing this white sari inspired Elie Saab Spring 2016 Couture ensemble which featured and embroidered long sleeve button up blouse and ball skirt. I think that this would look beautiful on Meryl, even if she decided not to wear this scarf draped over her shoulder. I am hoping Meryl delivers on the Berlin International Film Festival red carpet and this would be a perfect look for her to wear.
