2014 Grammy Awards: Anna Faris, Anna Kendrick, & Kim Kardashian Wish List

Funny lady and 'Mom' star Anna Faris will be on hand on Sunday night to be a presenter at the 2014 Grammy Awards. Anna stepped out earlier this month in an old lady style Naeem Khan beaded pant and top ensemble for the Peoples Choice Awards. I am hoping she takes to the Grammy red carpet wearing something much more fun an appropriate to her for 37 years. This yellow Naeem Khan Pre-Fall 2014 flapper fringe cocktail dress would be the perfect choice for Anna to make for this red carpet. Pair this look with a bright pink lip and a pair of gold Christian Louboutin peep toe 'Hyper Prive' pumps and we will see sexy Anna on the red carpet.
Anna Kendrick had one of the most played songs of 2013 with 'When I'm Gone (Cups)' from her hit blockbuster movie 'Pitch Perfect' so it really isn't a surprise to know that she will take to the stage of the 2014 Grammy Awards as a presenter. Before she does that though we are bound to see Anna take to the red carpet and I think that she should wear this bright orange Alberta Ferretti Spring 2014 RTW floral embroidered chiffon cocktail dress. Anna really wowed me earlier this year in a raspberry colored Reem Acra gown at the UNICEF Ball in LA and I am hoping that she keeps up her run of good looks Sunday night. Anna usually has a great shoe game so I am hoping that she will bring me a great pair of blue or green sandals to bring out some of the color in the floral embroidery. Finish up the look with a light pink lip color and a purple minaudiere clutch to have a wonderful look for the 2014 Grammy Awards red carpet ensemble.
You know that I am scrounging for people to write about for this event when I choose to feature a wish for Kim Kardashian. I am going to start by saying I can not stand this woman who is completely irrelevant and is only still in the public eye because she is screwing Kanye West. The woman really ruins every major designer red carpet look that she wears and most of the time these looks are ensembles that Kanye bought for her that other celebrities have already worn. Well for Sunday if she walks the red carpet on Kanye's arm as he scurries into the Staples Center for the Grammy Awards. On Tuesday Kim was spotted sitting front row at the Stephane Rolland Spring 2014 Couture presentation and I figure she will wear a look from the designer if she does. This black long sleeved gown from the collection is probably the best look for her even though I would much rather her not wear anything from this occasion and save the fabulous looks for red carpet professionals for other major red carpet events. I figure she will wear a pair of black Christian Louboutin pumps and some totally unneeded over the top jewelry to complete her ensemble. Please Kim stay home!

Runway Report: Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture

This morning in Paris one of my favorite red carpet designers Elie Saab debuted his Spring 2014 Couture collection. The collection that is entitled 'The Promise of Spring' embodied an extremely glamorous woman who bloomed with the pastel colored florals of an English garden. With a color palette that consists of pale budding pinks, blue hydrangea, lilac, rose d'or, pure white, and some charcoal black the collection really embodied spring. I can see these gowns on the red carpets of the Academy Awards, Met Ball (as this years theme is Charles James: Beyond Fashion), and the Cannes Film Festival. A whole slew of actresses, singers, and red carpet elite come to mind as I see each look stride and float ever so elegantly down the runway. I can see Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightley, Kate Beckinsale, Diane Kruger, Lupita Nyong'o. Amy Adams, Berenice Bejo, Emilia Clarke, Gwyneth Paltrow, Helen Mirren, Jessica Chastain, Kate Bosworth, Michelle Dockery, Sandra Bullock, Taylor Swift, Uma Thurman, Jennifer Hudson, Julia Roberts, Nieves Alvarez, Kerry Washington, Nina Dobrev, Reese Witherspoon, Emmy Rossum, and Celine Dion wearing among many others. Perched along the front row included Cannes Film Festival regulars Olga Kurylenko, Paz Vega, and Princess Clotilde Courau. I can see these women working the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals in Cannes in several of these gowns and only time will tell which ones make it. Bellow are my 4 favorite looks from the collection and my initial thoughts on who should wear them. What are yours?

2014 Grammy Awards: Nominee Wish List Part 2

In her hit song 'Royals' Lorde talks about never seeing diamonds in the flesh, ballgowns, and Cristal and Sunday night she will be in a whirlwind of all of these things and more at the 2014 Grammy Awards. The new artist to the scene is nominated for 4 Grammy's including Record and Song of the Year for 'Royals.' Lorde will also take to the stage during the telecast top perform, but before she does this she will have to take to the red carpet. Lorde attended the 2013 Met Ball as a guest of Chanel so it would not surprise me to see the couture house dress the rising star for this event. I did consider putting Lorde in the recently presented Spring 2014 Couture collection but I think that the collection was too light for the grungy star and I think that this grey textured Chanel Fall 2013 Couture gown is perfect for her for this red carpet. I would love for her to really go balls to the wall with the styling pairing this look with grungy boots and maybe some sort of glove. There are not many that could make a look like that work but Lorde has the confidence to wear couture and make it look like she just threw it on as she was leaving the house like that old hoodie that we all have sitting in the back of our closet.
Now we don't see Pink wear a whole lot of top label designers but I think that she should rock this black Atelier Versace Fall 2013 Couture turtle neck gown with a sheer side panel with beaded trim for the 2014 Grammy Awards on Sunday night. I love that pink has this edgy approach to feminine dressing, and usually makes the two mesh very well and I think that this could be yet another moment where the two blur the lines and fuse together. Pink is nominated for Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her song 'Just Give Me a Reason' with F.U.N.'s Nate Ruess, and the duo will take to the stage during the telecast to perform together. This sexy and sophisticated ensemble would just be the icing on the top of the cake. Finish the look with a pair of simple Saint Laurent sandals and a red lip and Pink has the perfect Grammy look.
Rihanna has garnered 2 Grammy nomination's including Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for 'Stay' with Mikky Ekko and Best Urban Contemporary Album for 'Unapologetic.' I am hoping that she wow's me like she did in Jean Paul Gaultier Couture at the 2013 American Music Awards and I think that this sexy white Versace Spring 2014 RTW one shoulder gown with a panel of silver draped metal mesh and sky high slit are the way to go. RiRi isn't nominated for the night's two top awards so this more toned down gown would just let Rihanna shine through with her bad ass bitch persona. Finish the look with some cool ear cuff a cuff bracelet, and a pair of silver strappy sandals will make me just squeal with delight as RiRi walks the red carpet!
Much to the worlds chagrin Taylor Swift is nominated for 4 Grammy awards including Album of the Year for 'Red.' I am praying that Taylor brings a little sexy to the red carpet like she did a few times last year at the MuchMusic Video Awards and MTV Video Music Awards in Herve Leger, and the American Music Awards in Julien Macdonald. Each time that Taylor really sexed it up she found herself on my Best Dressed List. I think that this sexy red lace bustier Elie Saab Spring 2014 RTW gown with a flowing chiffon skirt would be the sexy choice for Taylor to make for the red carpet. Pair this dress with sleek pin straight locks, a smokey eye, a neutral lippie, the runway Elie Saab sandals, and Taylor will have a sexy yet sweet look for the 2014 Grammy Awards this Sunday night!

2014 Grammy Awards: Nominee Wish List Part 1

Sunday night will bring us another big awards show red carpet, and quite possibly the funnest one of the season, The Grammy's. Alicia Keys has one nomination at this years Grammy Awards for Best R&B Album for 'Girl on Fire.' I will say at the end of 2013 Alicia worked the stage, performing at several different events, in designers like Armani Prive and Manning Cartel and I am hoping that she will keep up the fantastic looks come Sunday. While a new Alexandre Vauthier collection was released today I think that Alicia should wear this edgy Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2013 Couture halter neck mono-chromatic ensemble. I think what makes me love this look for Alicia is the mix of classic and uber sexy, which is exactly what works for her. Finish the look with a pair of gold Christian Louboutin sandals and some simple jewelry and this will make for the perfect Grammy look.
Last year Beyonce might not have taken to the red carpet a lot but showed her amazing sense of style through her performance ensembles while on her Mrs. Carter World Tour and ultimately won my Entertainer of the Year award. Sunday night Beyonce is nominated as the featured artist on her hubby Jay-Z's Best Rap/Sung Collaboration or 'Part II (On the Run)' and I am praying for a stunning red carpet ensemble. I am turning to one of the brands that Bey wore quite a bit while on tour, Emilio Pucci. This body hugging white Emilio Pucci Spring 2014 RTW long sleeved gown features quite a bit of skin for a gown which is so covered up and I think that it would look absolutely fantastic on Beyonce. Add a white and gold Edie Parker clutch and a pair of Christian Louboutin gold sandals to complete this look and give Beyonce a best dressed list worth ensemble.
While Amy Adams gave us our first peak into the Valentino Shanghai Collection 2013 on the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, I am hoping that we will see Grammy nominee Florence Welch also pluck a gown from this collection. Florence Welch is nominated in collaboration with Calvin Harris for a Best Dance Song Grammy for their hit 'Sweet Nothing.' I am hoping to see the indie rock diva wear this red and maroon Valentino Shanghai Collection 2013 long sleeved collard gown. This is something that I can see Flo really going for on a red carpet, it's floaty and very vintage looking. With her red hair pulled up and a pair of red sandals on her feet a red lip will be all that I wish for to complete this ensemble for the Grammy Awards red carpet.
I have not loved a Katy Perry look in a very long time. Last year Katy ditched the quirky persona that made me fall in love with her in favor of much more sophisticated looks. If sophisticated is the route that Katy is going to go then I would like to see the the Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance nominee for 'Roar' wear this white Giambattista Valli Fall 2013 Couture rise and fall strapless gown. The Spring 2014 Collection for Giambattista Valli was presented yesterday in Paris but I am still holding out a little bit of hope that this gown will get a red carpet appearance and I think the new Katy is the girl to do it. Finish the look with a strappy pair of silver sandals and some statement diamond earrings in her ears and Katy will make a big sophisticated statement.
And finally for today we have Best Song Written for Visual Media ('Young & Beautiful' from 'The Great Gatsby') and Best Pop Vocal Album (Paradise) nominee Lana Del Rey. I am usually very indifferent to anything Lana Del Rey does. She usually fails to elicit any excitement from me in either her music or fashion so I really don't follow her work. With that said I do not expect much from her at the Grammy's but in the slight hope that she might surprise me I think that this black, white, and ivory Antonio Berardi Spring 2014 RTW gown would actually look really stunning on Lana. Lana is a British star who tends to rock British brands and one of the ultimate's right now is Antonio Berardi. Finish this look with a black clutch and a pair of black sandals and Lana will shock me with a great look at the 2014 Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

2014 Directors Guild Awards Wish List

Amy Adams surprisingly didn't take to the red carpet at the 2014 Producers Guild Awards last night as she has been working the awards circuit promoting 'American Hustle.' The movie didn't take home any awards last night but we are past that now and moving on the the Directors Guild Awards on Saturday night. Amy, as well as the rest of the 'American Hustle' cast, seem to have really bonded with their director David O. Russell who has received a DGA Award nomination. I think that this strapless black Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2014 tea length gown with white branch embroidery would be a perfect look for this occasion. This is a simple look that makes a big impact and would really sing on Amy with her red hair. Finish the look with a black Edie Parker clutch, a pair of Christian Louboutin black pointed toe pumps, and some simple jewels to have the perfect DGA look.
Jennifer Lawrence has done back to back David O. Russell movies with 'Silver Linings Playbook' winning her an Oscar last year and 'American Hustle' earning her an Oscar nomination this year. The Dior spokesmodel has her ups and downs with the brand on the red carpet but I am praying that her SAG red carpet moment starts a roll of amazing looks on the red carpet. The Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture collection was presented this morning in Paris but I am still going back into the Fall 2013 Couture collection for Jennifer. The Directors Guild Awards are a little more casual than most of the other awards shows so I think that this graphic ensemble is perfect for JLaw and is the sportier style that always looks great on her. Finish this look with a simple black box clutch and a pair of black Jimmy Choo pumps and her hair all edgy and styled and Jennifer will wow me 2 appearances in a row at the Directors Guild Awards.
Now if we want to talk about a red carpet roll Lupita Nyong'o has been having an AMAZING run on the red carpet this awards season. Lupita has not worn the same designer on the red carpet twice since she stepped out earlier this year. One brand I am waiting to see her wear is Burberry Prorsum. If she chooses the brand for the Directors Guild Awards then I would love for her to wear this bronze Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2014 jacquard cocktail dress. This is a look that not many women could pull off and I honestly think that Lupita could wear a trash bag and look stunning, not that this stunning creation is a trash bag! A pair of bronze pointed toe pumps and a bronze clutch will finish this look off and make it absolutely perfect for the DGA Awards

2014 Producers Guild Awards Wish List

Amy Adams has really been on a roll this year I have been in love with all of her looks this season from Valentino at the Globes, Roland Mouret at the Critics Choice, and Antonio Berardi at the SAG Awards last night. While we have already seen Amy wear red once this awards season at the Golden Globes but I love this stunning red head in red. Recently Amy was photographed running around in LA after returning her Globes dress with shopping bags from Giambattista Valli and Elie Saab. I am praying that this is a sign of things to come as they are both brands that Amy favors on the red carpet. For the PGA Awards I am hoping that Amy snatches up this ruby red Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture strapless cocktail dress. The awards show tonight might be the last chance this stunning dress has to be worn before the Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture collection is presented on Wednesday. I would have Amy finish this look with the runway pumps, a gold Elie Saab clutch, and her hair worn up to ensure that all eyes are on her on the producers big night.
Queen of the Red Carpet Cate Blanchett wowed last night at the 2014 Screen Actors Guild in a custom Givenchy Couture gown, as was expected, and I am hoping that tonight she will do the same at the Producers Guild Awards. Cate was the big face last September in London when Tom Ford presented his Spring 2014 RTW collection. There were not many looks from the collection that I could see the demure queen wearing but I do think that this mirrored top and black tuxedo pants from the Tom Ford Spring 2014 RTW collection. I think that Cate is actually one of the few women in the world that I think could wear this ensemble and not look like a tacky human disco ball. Add a black and silver Roger Vivier clutch and a pair of black Christian Louboutin pumps and Cate will have a stunning sophisticated modern edgy look for the PGA Awards.
I had really high hopes for Emma Thompson coming into awards season as she looked fantastic (aside from the London Film Festival Premiere) whilst out on the promotional trail from 'Saving Mr. Banks' Unfortunately Emma has consistently ended up on my worst dressed list wearing ugly old lady dress after ugly old lady dress. I am hoping that if she attends the PGA Awards tonight that she looks stunning wearing this black Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2014 calf length dress. This is an elegant floaty flirty look for the 54 year old actress. Emma looks fantastic and needs to learn how to work it on the red carpet much more like Helen Mirren and Jane Fonda who are 10 years plus her senior. Finish the look with pretty black flats (because Emma has been complaining about heels killing her feet) and a black satin clutch will make a look I love for Emma.
Lupita Nyong'o has been rivaling red carpet veterans and queens like Amy Adams and Cate Blanchett as she makes the rounds during her very first awards season. The biggest designers in the world like Gucci, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Prada, and Elie Saab have constantly been throwing frocks at the stunning Kenyan actress. In the in between events Lupita has shown a pension for showcasing up and coming red carpet favorites. I am hoping that tonight she will do this yet again by wearing this cornflower blue Cushine et Ochs Pre-Fall 2014 off the shoulder knee length cocktail dress. Lupita has the grace, stature, and poise to make this dress sing a whole opera on the red carpet tonight. Finish the look with a silver embellished clutch, a pair of silver sandals, a pair of simple diamond cluster earrings, and a simple diamond bracelet and Lupita will shine yet again.

2014 Screen Actors Guild Awards: Oustanding Performance by a Female Actress in a Television Movie or Miniseries Wish List

Elisabeth Moss took home the Golden Globe last weekend for her work in 'Top of the Lake' which has also garnered her a nomination at the Screen Actors Guild Awards tomorrow night. I believe that the actress has been reinventing her red carpet style after a a year or so of being constantly on the worst dressed lists. I think that this white Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2014 gown with one slice of the bodice in beaded black would be the most elegant and event appropriate option for Elisabeth. I am in love with this gown and I am dying to see it on the red carpet. I think that Elisabeth is this perfect person to bring this gown to life on the red carpet. Finish the look with a black satin box clutch, a pair of simple black sandals, and some stunning earrings and this look will be perfect.
I have been waiting for Dame Helen Mirren to take to the red carpet during awards season wearing Elie Saab couture for forever now. This dove grey Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture might be a little bit much for this event but I am still praying that Helen will wear it for the SAG Awards tomorrow night. I have always loved when Dame Helen has worn an Elie Saab design on the red carpet and after not choosing a gown by the designer for the Globes I pray that she will tomorrow. Add a silver clutch, a pair of silver pumps, and some simple vintage Fred Leighton jewels and Helen will be on the Best Dressed list at the SAG Awards.
