2014 Academy Awards: Nominee Luncheon Wish List Part 1

The Academy Awards posts are finally upon us ladies and gentlemen and the first event that will take place is the Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon on Monday in Los Angeles. Amy Adams is nominated for Best Actress for her role in 'American Hustle' and I am super excited to see what the ravishing red head will don for the more laid back event. I would love to see Amy wear this red Elie Saab Spring 2014 RTW draped gown with a sexy slit. This gown is sophisticated with a flash of sex which seemed to be what her character in 'American Hustle' was as well. A pair of red Christian Louboutin peep toe pumps will finish this look off for Amy as she stuns me on Monday.
Cate Blanchett is and will always be my red carpet queen. I am excited to see her in something a little more laid back. Recently Cate has been wearing a lot of American designers like Prabal Gurung and Proenza Schouler. I am wishing that for the Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon on Monday that Cate the Great will snatch up this black Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2014 tuxedo suit paired with a pieced lace top. This is another sophisticated look with a hint of sex, via the lace on this one. I think that this would look elegant on Cate and keep her roll of amazing red carpet looks running. Finish the look with a pair of Miu Miu white pointed toe pumps featuring a black music note print to add yet another statement to this ensemble.
Bets are that Jennifer Lawrence will wear Christian Dior for the Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon on Monday. The reigning Best Actress winner is nominated for Best Supporting Actress this year for 'American Hustle.' I am hoping that after the confidence boost of her fabulous navy gown at the SAG Awards that Jennifer will be on top form yet again on Monday. This floral print above the knee Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2014 dress with 3/4 length sleeves would be perfect for the laid back nature of the luncheon. Jennifer should pair this look with just a pair of black Saint Laurent sandals to have the perfect look for this event.

I'm Going to New York Fashion Week!

Hey everyone! If you are reading this then I am either currently in the air or already in New York City for New York Fashion Week. This was such a surprise. I had gotten a few invitations and wasn't going to be able to go, but thanks to my wonderful sister I am getting the opportunity to make it to New York Fashion Week for the first time ever to take in the Fall/Winter 2014 Ready-to-Wear collections as they take to the runway. I might not be going to see Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, and Marchesa but I will be taking in a bunch of the more up and coming brands like Houghton, Yuna Yang, and Sally LaPointe. Each night before I go to bed I will write about the shows I saw in brief, my outfit(s) for the day, and all my adventures. I will be doing the full runway reports for all the shows I go to and all the big shows. Make sure you follow all my social media @FutureStylist93 on both Instagram and Twitter to keep up with all my shenanigans in Manhattan in real time!

Runway Report: Organic by John Patrick Fall 2014 RTW

Fashion week officially kicked off in New York City today and one of the first shows to take place was the Organic by John Patrick Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear collection. A brand that we don't really see take to the red carpet and is more of a sportswear collection. I can see the street style photographers and paparazzi snapping pictures of all the fabulous celebrities wearing this collection as they do their errands and running around the worlds most glamorous cities. There really was such a mix of styles that walked the runway. Sophisticated, minimal feminine looks paraded down next to urban masculine looks. Each look was accessorized with a pair of white, black, or silver flat ankle boots.

Runway Report: ZAC Zac Posen Fall 2014 RTW

Ahead of New York Fashion Week starting on Wednesday Zac Posen showed his lower line ZAC Zac Posen's Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear collection. I love that Zac brings the structure and glamour of his high line to a more accessible price point to more women who can not afford $1,000+ on a dress. A very fall color palette of terracotta, pumpkin, charcoal, stone, dove grey blue, lavender, and snow white mixed with the structured silhouettes of classic Zac Posen designs made for a sophisticated collection. I can picture a host of starlets wearing this collection on the red carpets, doing interviews on talk shows, and just out and about running errands. My four favorite looks and the women that I want to see wearing these looks on the red carpet are posted below. Come back at this time tomorrow for some big news that I have that I am really excited to tell you all but I am going to wait.

2014 NAACP Image Awards Red Carpet Wish List

In 17 days, February 22nd, a host of stars will take to the red carpet at the 2014 NAACP Image Awards. Halle Berry is nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for 'The Call.' I will say that I saw this film and I sat on the edge of my seat the entire time. When it comes to red carpet Halle Berry has a tried and true formula: black and tight. This long sleeve Azzaro Spring 2014 RTW gown is absolutely perfect for Halle for this event. Its sexy and sophisticated which is what Halle almost always goes for on the red carpet. A pair of black Saint Laurent sandals will finish this simple tried and true look for Halle for this red carpet.
At the Golden Globes last month Kerry Washington worked the red carpet in a white custom Balenciaga gown, which left me begging for more for the 'Scandal' stars maternity wear. Then came the SAG Awards and her now infamous hideous pink Prada crop top and navy skirt. I just could not get behind this look. I think that for this red carpet this gold Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2014 wrap dress would be perfect for Kerry to redeem herself. A pair of gold Christian Louboutin pointed toe 'Pigale' pumps and a gold clutch will finish off this perfect look for a pregnant Kerry.
The woman that I am most looking forward to seeing take to the red carpet during the 2014 NAACP Awards is Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture nominee Lupita Nyong'o. Lupita has been constantly hitting it out of the fashion ball park red carpet after red carpet this awards season, and I am sure that she will work this red carpet. Since I have discovered the Alexander Spring 2014 RTW commercial pieces I am praying to see Lupita wear one of them. This strapless Alexander McQueen Spring 2014 RTW tribal print chiffon gown would look absolutely stunning on Lupita. This gown was inspired by all of the embellished editorial pieces that took to the Alexander McQueen runway that will stay forever in the pages of magazines. A pair of black sandals, a gold Alexander McQueen clutch, and a bold red lip will make this look just absolutely perfect for Lupita.
The NAACP has been the only awards show to specifically honor Octavia Spencer for her work in 'Fruitvale Station' with a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Movie. I am almost 100% positive that Octavia will take to her go to red carpet brand Tadashi Shoji for this red carpet. This navy tulle skirt Tadashi Shoji Spring 2014 RTW gown with a white lace bodice overlaid and a blue belt would look absolutely stunning on the Academy Award winning actress. A navy blue clutch, a pair of black satin pumps, and some very simple diamonds will make this look absolutely perfect for the NAACP Image Awards red carpet.

Runway Report: Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture

The Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture collection has to be my favorite collection that Raf Simons has designed for the house. I feel like he finally was able to mesh his minimalistic ascetic to the classic styles of the Dior house. Each piece in this collection, no matter how simple the piece, was truly a piece of wearable art. I would beg each of you to take the time to watch the video of the runway to see all the shirred fabric, draped, and sequined details up close. Dior has been all over the red carpet map on the backs of anyone who can get their hands on it. Raf Simons has brought the luster and viability back into the house and has put it back on the must have map. By taking away the theatrics of the Galliano era Raf has really revived the Christian Dior house.

2014 Berlin International Film Festival: 'The Monuments Men' & 'La Belle et la Bete' Premieres Wish List

On Saturday the cast of 'The Monuments Men' will take to the Berlin Film Festival t' o premiere the film In Competition. After I posted my wish for Cate Blanchett for 'The Galapagos Affair: Satan Came to Eden' Premiere I learned that Cate the Great would not be able to attend this premiere but I am praying that she attends the premiere of 'The Monuments Men.' This film actually will actually be released on February 7th, a day ahead of this premiere. I have been dying to see Cate wear one of the 'nude' gowns from the Armani Prive Fall 2013 Couture collection and I think that this trumpet gown with embellished cap sleeves is perfect for this event. This gown is grand and it needs a stage like a film festival or the Academy Awards as I believe that Cate will wear an Armani Prive Spring 2014 Couture gown for the Oscars (those wishes to come closer to the Oscars.) Cate would just wear this gown with such an effortless glamour and I am dying to see this gown take to the red carpet. A simple gold metal box clutch, a pair of gold sandals, and some stunning Van Cleef & Arpels vintage yellow gold and diamond jewelry in her ears and on her wrist will make for the perfect premiere look for Cate at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival.
Lea Seydoux has been a fan of Prada and its little sister Miu Miu since she really stepped out. Lea is the face of the Prada fragrance 'Candy' and has also starred in the Prada Resort 2012 and Miu Miu Resort 2014 campaigns, so I am sure that during one of her red carpet moments during the Berlin International Film Festival that she will wear a gown from one label or the other. Since I picked an Ulyana Sergeenko Couture gown for Lea to wear for the Opening Ceremony and 'Grand Budapest Hotel' premiere I am wishing for her to wear Miu Miu Spring 2014 RTW for the premiere of 'La Belle et la Bete.' Now many of you are going to ask me about why I picked a short dress for Lea to wear to a major film festival premiere. Well I am just going to put that to rest and say that I would have this gown lengthened into a full gown with a train. I love this robins egg blue long sleeve dress and I could see Lea giving us a totally 60s moment wearing this gown which has beaded fringe around the waist. A 60s style updo, a smokey eye, a light pink lip, and a pair of silver sandals will make this gown just work to death on the red carpet.
