Runway Report: Louis Vuitton Cruise 2016

Designers have been taking their shows on the road a lot in recent years. Karl Lagerfeld showed the Chanel Cruise 2016 collection Zaha Hadid's Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, South Korea on Monday, Raf Simons will premiere the Christian Dior Cruise 2016 collection will be shown at the former home of Pierre Cardin in the south of France next week, Tom Ford capitalized on the Academy Awards for a star studded front row for his Fall 2015 RTW presentation in LA in February, and Nicolas Ghesquière drew his loyal following for Louis Vuitton out to the Bob Hope estate in Palm Springs, California. I was rather annoyed with Nicolas Ghesquière after the horrid looks that he sent guests up the stairs at the Met Ball wearing but I gotta say that this collection made up for it. I was really in need of a good collection to revive me from the fatigue that the Met Ball looks caused me. Each of the looks that walked through the Bob Hope home and then the runway around the pool area of the home looked like they stepped out of the hayday of Palm Springs in the 1970s. Stars have been having a love affair with all things LV and I gotta say that this collection has a lot of red carpet potential. With the Cannes Film Festival coming up next week I am sure that at least one of these looks will make the trip from one resort destination to the other.
