Runway Report: Tom Ford Fall 2015 RTW

Wow. That was all I could really say after watching the Tom Ford Fall 2015 RTW collection presentation on livestream. From the petals from the 40,000 white roses used to cover the runway, to the Rihanna enhanced soundtrack, to absolutely amazing 70's inspired clothing that took to the runway, everything was just screaming perfection. When the first look, a black below the knee tiered peasant dress on Daphne Groeneveld, came down the runway I figured that I was going to love this collection. A departure from the uber sexy looks that have dominated the Tom Ford runway for the past few seasons in favor of elegant, sophisticated yet very edgy. I personally want to see that fur and denim patchwork coat winding up in my closet and the white long sleeve fringe dress ending up on Nicole Kidman. Those two things would make me a very happy boy.
Falls three biggest trends were definitely front and center. The biggest trend I saw solidified during New York Fashion Week was the reemergence of the 1970s and of Studio 54. The silhouettes, especially at the very beginning and end of the collection, really embodied this feeling. Any of the tops and skirts from this collection could easily be pulled for period costumes for the character of a fabulous women from the 70s. Dianna Ross, Jerry Hall and Bianca Jagger all come to mind. Fringe and fur were the other two big trends for Fall 2015 that were front and center in this collection. Leopard prints, soft neutrals, and denims all made for amazing fur coats that I am sure we will see on the fashion pack come next February.
While I do not see this Tom Ford collection as one that will get much red carpet love there was a MAJOR front row. I give major props to Tom for deciding to forgo showing in New York, Paris, London or Milan in favor of Los Angeles. The show, presented two days before the Oscars, garunteed that literally everyone who was anyone was at the show. I will now go down a list of stars that sat front row: Amy Adams, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Julianne Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Richie, Sofia Vergara, Armie Hammer, Jay Z, Reese Witherspoon, Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Faith Hill, Anjelica Huston, Molly Sims, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Miguel, Olivia Munn, John Legend, Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora, Fergie, Josh Duhamel, Joe Manganiello, Kelly Lynch, Rachel Zoe, Brad Goreski, Cody Horn, Gia Coppola, Jason Statham, James Cordon, Amber Valetta and Emily Ratajkowski. This makes me hopeful. There are definitely a few looks from this collection that I would love to see some of these FROWERS wearing.
