ALL ABOARD! Tommy Hilfiger literally took us aboard the deck of the T.H. Atlantic for his Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear collection. I always love seeing Tommy Hilfiger's runway shows as he shoes such wearable stuff in such a grand way. Only big European brands like Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton tend to put on spectacle type shows where there are dramatic sets and I love that Tommy brings that to New York Fashion Week, its more of a theatrical production than just a fashion show. The 30's and 40's were the grounding points in most of the collection. Tommy wanted this collection to look like a modern girl found her grandmothers vintage silk dress and threw her sparkly on-trend loafers on and grabbed her puffy coat and walked out the door, and he made that vision come true through each look. There was a distinct breakup of the classic brought through the set and the more modern with Michael Jackson hits Don't Stop Till You Get Enough, Off The Wall, Rock With You, & Get On The Floor on the soundtrack, blending the ideas that were construed with the styling of the clothes. I honestly don't think that there was a single look that I actually didn't like. Everything about Tommy was absolute perfection. My favorite look from the collection was the closing look a gold sequined 40's inspired sailor dress modeled by superstar Gigi Hadid. I am actually really hoping that Tommy turns that gold sequined cocktail dress into a gown for the Met Ball and has someone like Jourdan Dunn or Claire Danes rock it on the red carpet. While I can see this being on the back of every flirty and cool girl in street style I can also picture Naomi Watts, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Rihanna, Marion Cotillard, Zooey Deschanel, Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick, Dakota Fanning, Sarah Hyland, Shailene Woodley, Suki Waterhouse, Cate Blanchett, Rita Ora, Jessica Chastain, Diane Kruger, Carey Mulligan, & Dakota Johnson rocking on different red carpets.
Make sure you check out all my favorite looks from the Fall 2016 RTW collections (and my immediate wishes) over on my Pinterest page.
