When When Bad Dresses Happen To Good People: Cate Blanchett in Atelier Versace at the 2016 Costume Designers Guild Awards

Cate Blanchett attended the 2016 Costume Designers Guild Awards last night and I have to say oh how the mighty fall. After a major red carpet display at the BAFTA Awards in an amazing Alexander McQueen gown which topped my Best Dressed list, Cate fell wearing a black Atelier Versace chainmail gown on the Costume Designers Guild Awards red carpet. I was expecting something great from Cate as she was receiving an award for wearing clothes so well. Her gown seemed a size to small as her hips appeared wider than they actually are and there was skin rolls popping out of the arm holes of the gown. This is the second custom Atelier Versace gown that has failed recently and I am having some immense fears that it will continue on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday. The lackluster hair and makeup only further let this look down. The only saving grace of this look was the Tiffany & Co. bib necklaces which was made of more than 3,000 diamonds totaling more that 200 carats which was designed to evoke the patterns left on the sand by waves. We are 4 days out from the Oscars and I am hoping Cate, at Versace, get better with their red carpet outings.
